NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- Lee H. Sternberg Jr., 62, of Waterway Village, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at home after an illness.

Services will be private.

Grand Strand Funeral Home and Crematory of Myrtle Beach is in charge.

Thomas W. Tyree

CLARENDON, N.C. -- Thomas Wilson Tyree, 79, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at home.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Inman Funeral Home in Tabor City, N.C.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Antioch Baptist Church. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in Whiteville, N.C.

Lloyd A. Ward

SURFSIDE BEACH -- Lloyd Ashby Ward, 66, of 13th Avenue, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at home.

Arrangements will be announced by Goldfinch Funeral Home, beach chapel.

Ottoway Ward

NAKINA, N.C. -- Ottoway Ward, 76, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at Loris Hospital.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Inman Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church in Nakina. Burial will be in the Happy Home Cemetery in Nakina.

Francis M. Altman

CONWAY -- Francis Marion Altman, 89, of Pickens Street, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Grand Strand Healthcare after an illness.

He was born in Brittons Neck, a son of the late William Samuel and Rilla Hanna Altman.

He attended Brittons Neck schools and as a young man was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was later employed with a hotel in Marion before being called into the Army serving in World War II. He was stationed in Okinawa during the Japanese invasion. After leaving the Army, he worked at the Hotel Columbia before moving to Conway to join his brother in business and later established his own Altman Housemoving Company.

After retirement, he was employed by the First Baptist Church of Conway as building and grounds superintendent. In this position, he brought recognition to the church and to the city of Conway and received an engraved plaque from the Garden Club Council of South Carolina for the outstanding state beautification project, being chosen for the beautifully planned and landscaped church grounds. He later was honored by the church for his 18 years of dedicated service and named Superintendent Emeritus.

While a member at First Baptist Church for 56 years, he served in many capacities. He taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir and had served several times as deacon.

He was actively involved in his community, having served as a Boy Scout troop leader, an appointee of the Conway Housing Authority and a member of the Conway City Council. He was a member of the Conway Kiwanis Club for many years and held various offices including president. He was one of the few local members ever to be elected District Lieutenant Governor.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Holmes Altman, of Conway; a daughter, Rilla Thomas and her husband, Phil, of Conway; two grandchildren, Lee Thomas and Brent Thomas, both of Conway; three sisters, Edith A. Young and Neta A. Campbell, both of Florence, and Stelline Hubbard and her husband, Fielder, both of Surfside Beach; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Roderick Altman, Coley Altman, Johnny Altman and Tom Altman; and a sister, Annie A. Foster.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Conway. The Rev. Steve Hadden and the Rev. Don Steins will officiate.

Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, 603 Elm St., Conway, SC 29526, Conway Christian School, P.O. 1245, Conway, SC 29528, or to the Pee Dee Center Volunteer Services, P.O. Box 3207, Florence, SC 29502.

Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway chapel, is in charge.

Georgina Amigo

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- Georgina Amigo, 90, mother of Isidro Amigo and Lydia Spaulding, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Conway Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach.

Oscar Barojas

CONWAY -- Oscar Barojas, 23, died Thursday, May 29, 2003, of injuries suffered in a construction accident.

Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. today at Palmetto Funeral Home in Conway and from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at the church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 6:30 p.m. today at St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Rick LaBrecque will officiate.

L. Thomas Bellamy

LORIS -- L. Thomas Bellamy, 75, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at home after an illness.

He was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Loris, a son of the late Nathan Hiram Bellamy and the late Belle Marlowe Bellamy.

He was the stepson of the late Katie Marlowe Bellamy Watson.

He was a retired vocational teacher with Horry County Schools and taught at Loris High School and Finklea Career Center. He also was a retired farmer, served on the Board of Directors for the Farm Bureau and the Buck Creek Water Shed Bureau. He was an Elks Club member and a member of the Camp Swamp United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Annie Mae Page Bellamy, of Loris; two sons, Lyles Bellamy and his wife, Wanda, and Ashley Bellamy and his wife, Myra, all of Loris; a brother, William Rheuben Bellamy of Atlanta; a sister, Mary Bell Brooks of Loris; and four grandchildren, Omeria Bellamy, Kristin Bellamy, Christopher Bellamy and Stuart Bellamy, all of Loris.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Glen Bellamy, Joe D. Bellamy and Nathan Bellamy.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Camp Swamp United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Bellamy Cemetery. The Rev. Scarlette Tanner and the Rev. Danny Chamblee will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to the Camp Swamp United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4381 S.C. 9 Business E., Loris, SC 29569.

Hardwick Funeral Home of Loris is in charge.
