Guy White Sr.

HARTSVILLE — Funeral services for Guy Ancel White Sr., 81, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Swift Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Peter Rivera will officiate with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 28, 2004, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. White, widower of Rose Bertone White, died Monday, December 27, 2004. Born in Florence Co., SC, he was a son of the late Cain Elton and Ethel Marie Atkinson White. He was a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church, The Hartsville Moose Lodge #1770, and the VFW. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. in France during W.W.II. He had retired from American Auto Parts.

Surviving are his son, Guy A. White, Jr. of Hartsville, SC; daughters and sons-in-law, Adele White of Hartsville, SC, Theresa and Earl Watford of Hartsville, SC, Kathy and Buddy Chapman of Hartsville, SC, Angela Bonds of Hartsville, SC; brother and sister-in-law, Dwight and Bernice Harrelson of Lugoff, SC; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clement Austin White; son, Christopher Partridge.

Fannie Thomas

BAMBERG — Mrs. Fannie Carter Thomas of 600 North St., Bamberg, SC 29003, wife of the late Freddie Thomas, Sr., was born January 8, 1917, in Bamberg and died December 27, 2004, in Bamberg County Nursing Center. Her parents were the late Jule C. Carter and the late Fannie Thompson Carter. She was a Life Long Member Main Street United Methodist Church, Bamberg, SC, and Retired Bamberg Textile Mill and Bamberg County Nursing Center. She Loved her Church Work and Loved Baseball.

Services are December 29, 2004, Wednesday 3:00 p.m. at Cooner Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow in the South End Cemetery. Officiated by Rev. Blaine Hudson.

Survivors: 4 Sons: Fred and Wilma Thomas Jr. of Bamberg, SC, Julius (Bubba) and Faye Thomas of Bamberg, SC, Ernest Thomas of Orlando, FL and Gene Thomas of Cope, SC. 9 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.

Visitation will be December 28, 2004, Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Cooner Funeral Home. Memorials to be made to Main St. United Methodist Church, 303 North Main St., Bamberg, SC 29003. Family will receive Friends at the Home of Fred and Wilma Thomas, 968 Dickenson St., Bamberg, SC 29003.

Ronald Stovall

COLUMBIA — Services for Mr. Ronald O. Stovall are 12 p.m. Wednesday at the J.P. Holley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery in Florence, SC. Visitation 4-9 p.m. at the J.P. Holley Funeral Home Garners Ferry Rd. Chapel.

Born in Chattanooga, Tenn., to Professor Rabin P. and Dorothy Stovall, he died Monday, December 20, 2004. Surviving: Parents, Pro. Rabin, Dorothy Stovall, Sister, Rachel S. Brown; Brothers, Jerry N. Stovall, David S. Stovall, Rabin P. Stovall Jr., Cournelius R. Stovall; Aunt, Laura B. Eldridge.

Rhonda Walling

BAMBERG — Rhonda Michelle Heape Walling, 38 died Monday.

Funeral--2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Spring Branch Baptist Church near Bamberg with burial in Hamilton Family Cemetery in Brunson, SC.

Visitation--7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

Emery Smoak

ST. GEORGE — Mr. Emery C. (Smokie) Smoak, 77, of 101 East Murray Street, St. George, died suddenly Monday, December 27, 2004, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wash Belangia and Rev. Gerald Lord officiating. Burial with American Legion Rites will follow in the Canady Cemetery, Harleyville. Pallbearers will be Timmy Traxler, Bruce Bowers, Dawson Pierpaoli, Blaine Shuler, Bennie Chinners, and William Moorer.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Bryant Funeral Home.

Mr. Smoak was born February 15, 1927, in Summerville a son of the late Brodus Sims Smoak and Dora Elizabeth Canady Smoak. He had retired as an electrician from Giant Cement Company, a Navy veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was a mason, member of Harleyville American Legion Post 128, and VFW Post 10980. He was predeceased by a son and daughter, Billy Fickling and Nancy F. Gardner, brothers, D.W. Smoak, Hubert Smoak, sisters, Mildred Smith, Dora Moorer, and Dorcas Steen.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Stoddard Smoak, of the home, daughters, Sharon S. Horne, St. George and Lucy (Johnny) Hill, Pinopolis; a son, John T. Fickling, Swansboro, NC; Grandchildren; Adam Horne, Kenny Hill, Kay Vining, Natalie Bowers, Sheldon Fickling, Carman Fickling, Jimmy Fickling, eleven great-grandchildren, and a number of Nieces and Nephews.

Memorials may be made to Canady Cemetery, in care of Deloris S. Ackerman, P.O. Box 342, Harleyville, SC 29448 or St. George United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 506, St. George, SC 29477.

Ruby Prosser

COLUMBIA — Graveside Services for Mrs. Ruby Shuler Prosser, 88, of Columbia, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004, in Elmwood Cemetery, with Rev. Lloyd S. Buff, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends at Greenlawn Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202-7044.

Born on January 8, 1916, in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Tarlton Cuttino Shuler and Cora Myrtle Dantzler Shuler, and was the widow of Sumter C. Prosser. She had resided in Columbia all of her life and was raised by her aunt, Maggie Dixon, since the age of 5 months. Mrs. Prosser began work in the Spinning Room of Olympia Mill in 1932 and retired with over 40 years of service. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are her caretaker and sister-in-law, Annie Mae Clark of Columbia; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters and two half-brothers.

Jean Siden

IRMO — Jean E. Siden, 88, of Irmo, South Carolina, formerly of Rockford, IL, died at 2:20 p.m., Monday, December 13, 2004, in Palmetto Health Baptist Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina. Born February 14, 1916, in Galesburg, IL. Son of Einar and Hilma Lewis Siden. Rockford resident since 1925, coming from Galesburg, IL. Married Evelyn J. Johnson December 1, 1939, in Rockford. Evelyn predeceased Jean August 6, 2004, in Irmo, SC. Worked as a plant superintendent for Barber Colman Co. for 47 ˝ yrs., retiring in 1981. Member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Served many years on the church board and grounds committee. Jean was also a volunteer for the Emmanuel Lutheran Mission House. Lifetime member of the Harmony Singing Society and Masonic Lodge. Jean always loved a good meal and enjoyed traveling to visit family and the grandchildren. We will miss his uncanny wit and sense of humor and his ability to see the best in all of us. Especially his special needs granddaughter, Katie Siden. A man is only as tall as the sum of his deeds...By this measure, Jean’s family and friends saw him as ten feet tall.

Survivors include his sons, Gary (Dorothy) Siden of Marblehead, MA & Steven (Nancy) Siden of Lexington, SC; daughter, Kathleen (Richard) Jones of Irmo, SC; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Daren Jones; Ryan, Susanne, Aaron, Katharine Siden and Chad Heaslip; great grandchildren, Jaxon Jones, Crosby Jones and Jayden Jones; sisters, Dorothea Johnson of Rockford & Betty Midtskog of Phoenix, AZ; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Everett and Kenneth Siden.

Funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Fred C. Olson Funeral Chapels, Ltd., East Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford, IL, with the Reverend James Roberts officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m., prior to service. Memorials to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 920 Third Ave., Rockford, IL 61104.

Shirley Mike

LITTLE RIVER — Shirley J. Mike, 65, of Little River, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004.

She was born on December 18, 1939, in Lake City, SC, a daughter of the late Wallie E. and Marie Kirby Coker.

Mrs. Mike is survived by a son, Dexter Graham of Columbia, a daughter, Donna Renee Bissell and her husband Butch of Little River, a brother, Wallie E. “Sonny” Coker, Jr. of Charlotte, a sister, Mary Mitchell of Lake City and 2 grandchildren, Jason Ryan Broom and Cameron Bissell. She is predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Mike.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28 at Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Dennis Kenney will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wild Life Conservancy, c/o Dexter Graham, 209 Argyll Road, Columbia, SC 29212 or the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29201.

Arrangements will be announced by Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach.

Todd Onderko

PELION — Services for Todd Onderko, 37, will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with interment to follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 28, 2004, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Cross Roads World Outreach Center.

Mr. Onderko died Friday, December 24, 2004. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of James and Hazel Anthony Onderko.

Surviving are his parents of Pelion; daughter, Hannah Sea-Faith Onderko of Gaston; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Michelle Onderko of Pelion and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Brenda Hinton

ST. GEORGE — Mrs. Brenda Hartzog Hinton, 55 of 105 Forest Drive, St. George passed away Monday, December 27, 2004, at her residence after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Griffin and Rev. Kevin Hinton officiating. Burial will follow in the St. George Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Bryant Funeral Home.

Brenda was born April 30, 1949, in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late William Perry and Ella Mae Myers Hartzog. She was a 1967 graduate of St. George High School, attended Winthrop College and graduated from Columbia Commercial College. She was a former Volunteer Coordinator for The Methodist Oaks, in Orangeburg, Vital Records Clerk for Dorchester County Health Department and owner of Specialty Gift Shop. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving is her devoted husband, Darrell E. Hinton, of the home, daughters; Sandy H. (Tony) Bartram, Canadys, and Corey H. (Gary) West, St. George. Grandchildren; Will, Clay, Nick, and Alex Bartram. Mother-in-law, Eunice P. Hinton, brother and sister in laws , Michael (Ann) Hinton, Nashville, TN and Sandra (Carroll) McAlhaney, St. George, Nephew, Dr. Tim (Maureen) McAlhaney, Dallas, TX, Nieces, Lisa ( Frank) West, Holly Hill, Michelle Hinton, Nashville, TN, and a grand-niece, Abbie West, Holly Hill.
