Dorothy M. Gore

SUPPLY, N.C. -- Dorothy Mitchell Gore, 77, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at home after an illness.

She was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Supply, a daughter of the late George and Rhonda Bryant Mitchell.

Survivors include four daughters, Natalane Williams, Doris Gray, Dorothy Gore and Rosaland Gore-Lance; two sons, Milton Earl Gore and Rondie "Buddie" Gore; two sisters, Edna M. Latimer and Esther Kilby; six brothers, George Mitchell, James Mitchell, Morris Mitchell, Curtis Mitchell, Joseph Mitchell and Alvin Mitchell; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Big Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Galloway Cemetery.

Latimer's Funeral Home in Conway is in charge.

Katie Graham

CONWAY -- Katie Viola Hucks Graham, 93, wife of the late Archie Graham Sr., of Hendricks Shortcut Road, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, after an illness.

She was born in Horry County, a daughter of the late James Thomas and Sarah Jane Lewis Hucks.

She was a member of Brown Swamp United Methodist Church. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Salaz of Augusta, Ga., and Florine Jordan of Conway; two brothers, John Bunyon Hucks and Clarence Hucks, both of Conway; five sisters, Sarah Johnson, Beulah McNeill and Willie Ruth Purvis, all of Conway, Eugenia Morrison of Birmingham, Ala., and Barbara Shepard of Beaufort; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Brown Swamp United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Tom Swilley will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice of Horry County, P.O. Box 50640, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.

Corrie Hall

GREENVILLE -- Corrie M. Goodson Hall, 89, of 1306 Pelham Road, widow of George M. Hall, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Brighton Gardens in Greenville.

She was born in Greenville, a daughter of the late Edward E. MacMillan and LaVonia Kennett MacMillan.

She was a graduate of Anderson College Class of 1935. She taught at middle and high schools in Lincoln County School System in Lincolnton, N.C. She was the proprietor of The Gift Box in North Myrtle Beach for 10 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Professional Women of America.

Survivors include sons Claude H. Goodson and his wife, Louise K. Goodson, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Edward M. Goodson of Greenville; grandchildren Eric E. and Heather Goodson of Raleigh, N.C., Richard and Inger Rhodes of Denver, N.C., Christian A. Goodson of Greenville; and great-grandchildren Joel Goodson of Raleigh and twins Ethan and Evan Rhodes of Denver.

Memorials may be made to any hospice.

Cremation Society of South Carolina in Greenville is in charge.

Sarah E. 'Libby' Horonzy

MYRTLE BEACH -- Sarah Elizabeth "Libby" Horonzy, 71, widow of Jan Stanley Horonzy, of Ramsey Acres, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach.

Arrangements will be announced by McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach.

Samuel E. McFadden

PAWLEYS ISLAND -- Retired Army Maj. Samuel Edward McFadden, 88, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002.

He was born in Chester, a son of the late Samuel Edward McFadden and Ethel Means McFadden, both natives of Chester.

He attended the University of South Carolina and was graduated with a law degree in 1939. He practiced law in Chester for a short period until entering the Army Air Corps in early 1941. He served during World War II as a pilot until 1946. He then returned to South Carolina to practice law and was elected to a two-year term in the S.C. General Assembly. During this time, he flew with the S. C. Air National Guard at the then-Congaree Air Base. In 1950, at the beginning of the Korean War, he was called back into service with the Air Force and served until 1965 when he retired.

From 1965 until 1977, he was involved in the real estate business in Litchfield Beach and Pawleys Island. He retired in 1977 and lived in Pawleys Island until the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Keenan McFadden, whom he married in 1973; stepchildren Catherine K. Mayo of Spartanburg, Andrew C.M. Keenan, William J. Keenan and Dean L. Keenan, all of Columbia; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service, with full military honors, will be at 3 p.m. today at Waccamaw Cemetery at All Saints Parish in Pawleys Island.

Visitation will be at the family home at 319 Rossdhu Lane, Pawleys Island, after the service.

Roy G. Morton

LONGS -- Roy G. Morton, 81, of Long Bay Road, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Loris Community Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway chapel.

Shields P. Nelson

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Shields Peter Nelson, 87, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, in Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.

He was born Feb. 10, 1915, in Vicksburg, Miss.

He was educated at Saint Bernard College Seminary in Cullman, Ala., and Southeastern University in Washington, D.C. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 35 years, first as an investigator for the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Division and then as senior inspector/criminal investigator for the Internal Security Division. He retired to Myrtle Beach in 1973. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Survivors include his brother, Gordon Nelson of Coushatta, La.; nephews Riley, Michael and Patrick Nelson, all of Baton Rouge, Shawn Nelson of Los Angeles and Kevin Nelson of Greer; and a niece, Julie Nelson of Baton Rouge.

He was predeceased by his wife, Twila Johns Nelson, formerly of Johnstown, Pa.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church, 503 37th Ave. N., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
