LORIS -- Eldred Lee Soles, 75, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Monday at Flag Patch Missionary Baptist Church. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville, N.C.

Norman K. Stephens

TABOR CITY, N.C. -- Norman Kim Stephens, age 49, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2004, at home. Services will be announced at a later date. Inman Funeral Home, Inc.

Wilbur Bellamy

LONGS -- Wilbur Bellamy, 78, died Wednesday Jan. 7, 2004. The funeral will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004 at Freemont Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. United Funeral Home of Loris is serving the family.

Robert L. Biggs

MURRELLS INLET -- Robert L. Biggs, 66, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at Waccamaw Community Hospital.

Born June 30, 1937 in Nashville, Tenn., he was the son of the late James and Thelma Nabors Riggs. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Biggs Jr. and Chuck Biggs; tow daughters, Kitty Biggs, and Dawn Biggs; one brother, Hugh Biggs; and one sister, Mary Sue Biggs.

Funeral services will be private. Litchfield-Pawleys Funeral Home and Cremation Service is serving the family.

Letitia H. Dudley

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- Letitia Hucks Dudley, 79, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004.

She was born on Feb. 18, 1924 in Conway, S.C., a daughter of the late Sparkman and Mattie Louise Hucks.

Survivors include, four daughters, Katherine D. Smith of Little River, Linda G. Johnson of Myrtle Beach, Loraine D. Lambert of Conway, and Vickie Matthews of Longs; two brothers, David S. Hucks of Conway and Collin Hucks of Aynor; two sisters, Thelma Singleton of Conway, Eloise Causey of Surfside; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Victor Lloyd Dudley; a sister, Wilma Jolly; and two grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Mrs. Dudley, 1012 1st Ave South, North Myrtle Beach. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at 1st Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. The Rev. John Gambrell will officiate. Burial will follow at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Belle Edge Sunday School Class, c/o 1st Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, 200 Hwy 17 South, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29582.

Virginia B. Faircloth

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- Virginia Brozan Faircloth, 70, died on Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, after an illness.

Virginia was born in New York, and was a resident of South Carolina for around 30 years, prior to moving back to New York in 1996. She had many friends in South Carolina.

Survivors include one son, Michael Lubs of Little River; three daughters, Donna Carbone of Long Island, N.Y., Ginger Forer of Louisiana, and Joan Dupris of Michigan; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 4:30 p.m. Monday at Lords Way Baptist Church, with Pastor Bill Allen officiating.

Eva G. Graham

LITTLE RIVER -- Eva Gore Graham, 82, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at Conway Medical Center, following an illness. Arrangements will be announced by Latimer's Funeral Home.

Pauline E. Gulledge

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Pauline Elizabeth Gulledge, 82, of Flint St., ended her journey here on earth, Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, after a year long illness.

Born April 7, 1921 in Danville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Ethel Toombs.

She was fortunate to have had three partners in her life. George T. Harris, deceased, who she married on Valentines Day and resided with Polly in Greensboro, N.C. for 35 years. They were blessed with one son and three daughters.

She then married Robert Gulledge, deceased, with whom she left Greensboro and moved to Surfside, S. C. for 20 years. It was a move she thoroughly enjoyed and she often referred to that part of her life as being a "beach bum". After the passing of Robert, she returned to Greensboro to reside at Abbotswood.

At Abbotswood, she met Dr. Jack Tendler, with whom she shared two wonderful years. He was a loyal and loving "special friend" who showered her with flowers, enjoyed their daily games of Gin Rummy, and learned to follow the 8:00 o'clock rule.

Polly is survived by her four children and their spouses, George and Becky Harris, Camille and Roger Bailey, Sandy and Rick Edwards, Caretta and Jay Davis; nine grandchildren, David Harris, John Harris, Phillip Bailey, Jennifer Brooks, Mark Trull, Leah Edwards, Mark Edwards, Adrian Davis, Kendra Davis; two great-grandchildren, Cody Brooks and Kyra Davis; and one loving sister, Francis Rice of Stanford, Ky.

A private family memorial will be held from Jan. 24, 2 to 3 p.m. followed by A Celebration of Polly's Life, with family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Abbotswood.

Remembrances may be made to Hospice of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave. Greensboro, N.C. 27405. Special thanks to Peggy Matthews, Chaplain Moses Cone, for her Healing Touch.

Johnson Sr.

MYRTLE BEACH -- John "Jay" Henry Johnson Sr., 69, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at Conway Medical Center.

He was born June 18, 1934, in Williamsburg County and was the widower of Cathleen Wright Johnson, who died in 1967. He was also predeceased by a brother, Manning Johnson.

Mr. Johnson retired after 30 years from Waccamaw Clay Products and was an avid fisherman, former assistant scoutmaster and committee member of Boy Scout Troop #856.

Survivors include two sons, John H. Johnson Jr., and James Marty Johnson and wife, Denise, both of Conway; a half sister, Nadene Grier of Charleston, three grandchildren, James Nicholas Johnson, John Matthew Johnson, and Foster Luke Lewis; three great-grandchildren, Winter Rose Lewis, Tacoma Charles Lewis, and Caitlin Nicole Johnson.

The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Withers Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Curt Kemper

TABOR CITY, N.C. -- Curt Kemper, 70, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, in Loris Hospital. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, in the Carolina Baptist Church, interment in the Carolina Cemetery, Green Sea, S.C. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, at Inman Funeral Home.

Virginia G. Pharr

MYRTLE BEACH -- Virginia Green Pharr, 85, widow of Clarence C. Pharr, died peacefully Thursday Jan. 8, 2004, at the Aloha Motel in Myrtle Beach, SC.

She was born Dec. 25, 1918 in Bluefield, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Ruth Custis Green.

Mrs. Pharr and her husband "Fats" were formerly from Charleston, W.Va., and they moved to Myrtle Beach in 1970. They owned, operated and had many special memories at the Aloha Motel. She was a devoted wife, mother, and "grandma" who loved to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. She will be loved and always missed by her family and many Aloha friends that she has been blessed with throughout the years.

Survivors include, son, C.C Pharr and his wife, Carrie of Asheboro, N.C.; three daughters, Ann Tinker and her husband, John; Becky Millsaps and her husband, Mike, all of Myrtle Beach, SC and Bunny Schoolcraft and her husband, Mike of Asheboro, N.C.; a brother, William Green and his wife, Ruth of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Nicole Pharr Noon, Chad Pharr, Michelle, Michael and Melissa Schoolcraft, Christopher Millsaps and Trent and Lane Tinker; two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Carrie Beth Noon. Her special caretaker throughout the years, Vertie Mason, will also miss her.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday Jan. 11, 2004, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, with Dr. Robert C. Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow the service at Southeastern Memorial Gardens. Following the burial the family will welcome friends at the home of Mike and Becky Millsaps, 611-63rd Ave. N, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.

The family will receive friends at McMillan-Small Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, c/o the Benevolence Fund, P.O. 1306, Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29578.
