Edward D. Harper Jr.

GARDEN CITY BEACH -- Edward Dawson Harper Jr., 52, of Pirates Cove Mobile Home Park, died Sunday, April 11, 2004, at his home.

Born Dec. 12, 1951, he was the son of the late Edward D. Harper Sr. and Mary Frances Carroll Harper.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Harper of Georgetown, Ky.; two sons, Brandon K. Harper of Lawrenceburgh, Ky., and James E. Harper of Myrtle Beach; one granddaughter Montanna Harper of Lawrenceburgh, Ky.; one brother, Ron Harper of Louisville, Ky.; four sisters, Kathy Barnett, Becky Harper, Susie Wilkins, and Barbara Johnson, all of Louisville, Ky.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grand Strand Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will follow until 5 p.m.

Marion W. Lawrimore

HEMINGWAY -- Marion Wayne Lawrimore, 52, husband of Robin R. Lawrimore, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, in the Hemingway United Methodist Church, with burial following in the Lawrimore Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Morris Funeral Home.

Thomas A. Pinson Sr.

ROCK HILL -- Thomas Anderson Pinson Sr., 89, died Monday, April 12, 2004 at Piedmont Medical Center.

Mr. Pinson was a native of Central, S.C., and the son of the late Walter Earl Pinson and Julia Merck Pinson. He retired from Independent Life Insurance Company and from his used auto business in Rock Hill. He was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, where he served as an officer and a teacher of the Men's Bible Class.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Russell Pinson; three daughters, Brenda P. Park of Greer, S.C., Sara P. Jones of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Jean P. Simpson of Rock Hill; four sons, Michael R. Pinson, Daniel M. Pinson and G. Wayne Pinson, all of Rock Hill; and Kenneth A. Pinson of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; a sister, Thelma P. Richey of Greenville, S.C.; a brother, Rev. Woodrow Pinson of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, with interment in the Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. David Bender. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, S.C. 29732.

Memorials may be made to Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 4858 McConnells Highway, York, S.C. 29745.

Daisy Bell G. Smith

GEORGETOWN -- Daisy Bell Gasque Smith, 77, died Sunday, April 11, 2004. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday, at St. Paul AME Church in the Sampit Community, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul AME Church. Wilds Funeral Home is serving the family.

Willie N. Tanner

GEORGETOWN -- Willie Nelson Tanner, 69, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at South Island Assisted Living.

Mr. Tanner was born in the Pleasant Hill Community of Georgetown County on Jan. 13, 1935, a son of the late Perry Tanner and Lillie Cribb Tanner. He was the tenth of 13 children and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Tanner graduated from Pleasant Hill High School and attended the University of S.C. He worked a number of years for Tupperware and Liberty Life Insurance Co., and retired from Georgetown Steel Co. Mr. Tanner's greatest pleasure was building. He built, owned and operated The Silver Fox, a private club in Georgetown County.

Survivors include a brother, J. P. Tanner of Hemingway, four sisters, Fara T. Miller, Delane T. Music, Miriam T. Cribb, and Donnell T. Tanner, all of Hemingway; and a long-time friend, Marti Tanner of Nesmith.

Mr. Tanner was predeceased by a son, Willie "Will" Nelson Tanner Jr.

Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are by the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.

Patricia H. Brocklesby

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Patricia H. Brocklesby, 72, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at the Hospice House of Bradenton. A memorial service will be held 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton. Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Manatee Ave. Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.

Edward Catherall

OCEAN ISLE BEACH -- Edward Catherall, 73, of Brick Landing Plantation, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, April 13, 2004.

He was born on May 12, 1930 in Warrington, England the son of the late Thomas Stanley Catherall and Kate Griffiths Catherall. He graduated from Bewsey H.S. In l944 and attended Warrington Technical College. He served in the British Army from 1948 to 1950 in the Catering Corps. He worked for Joseph Crossfields & Sons, and then American Express as a teller before immigrating to the United States in l954. He became a U.S. Citizen in 1966.

His entire working career was spent in banking. He worked for Seattle Trust & Saving Bank for 34 years and retired as Vice President and General Auditor of the bank. He then worked for several years as a consultant for the Commerce Bank, Seattle, Wash.

He served on the Board of Trustees of Twin Lakes Golf & Country Club, Federal Way, Washington. He was a member of Bricklanding Golf Club and served as President of the Men's Sports Club in 2001.

He was a golfer who loved the game, an accomplished woodworker, and an avid reader.

Edward was a good and kind man and a true gentleman, who will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know and love him.

He was predeceased by his siblings, George Henry (Harry), Ralph, Margaret Mary and Stanley Thomas Catherall.

Survivors include his loving wife and caregiver, Dolores Maglione Catherall; a son, Gary and wife, Laura of Everett, Washington; daughters Julie Barabas and husband, Joe; and Tracy Gregg and husband, Darren, both of Tacoma Washington; grandchildren Ryan, Charlene, and Derek Edward Catherall, Shaylee and Jacob Gregg, and Michael Barabas; great grandchildren; Justin, Samuel and Jaidyn Catherall; sisters-in-law, Doris Catherall of Wales, U.K., and Leah Catherall of North Delta, B.C., Canada. His mother-in-law and brother-in -law, Angela and Timothy Maglione of Ocean Isle Beach; sister-in-law, Angela Maglione of Wilmington, N.C.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tony and Joanna Maglione of Black Mountain, N.C.; nephew, Ryan Kinnelly of Bellevue, Wash.; nephews, Anthony Maglione IV, and grandnephew Anthony Maglione V of Shallotte, N.C.; niece, Lynn Gregor of Hampton Bays, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews in England and Canada.

Memorial Services to celebrate Edward's life will be held at St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Shallotte on Friday, April 16, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Brunswick Funeral Service & Crematory is handling arrangements for the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 725-A Wellington Ave., Wilmington, N.C. 28401; or Duke Eye Clinic, for Macular Degeneration Research, Box 3802, Durham, N.C. 27710.

Frances G. Chinn

MURRELLS INLET -- Frances Greene Chinn, 86 of Garden Manor died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at the manor.

Born April 22, 1917 in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Byron and Alice White Greene. Mrs. Chinn had been the owner of a nursery school in Vienna, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband George in 1984, and a brother, Byron.

Surviving are her sons, George B. Chinn Jr. of Dunnesville, Va., and Byron N. Chinn and wife, Kathie of Concord, Calif.; daughter, Candy Cloud and husband, Everett of Murrells Inlet; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Anne Hinson of Wilmington, N.C.

Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Yeocomico Episcopal Church in Hague, Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to DAV, PO Box 30637, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578.

Paula S. Davis

JOHNSONVILLE -- Paula Stone Davis, 50, wife of Marion J. "Charlie" Davis, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004 in the Vox United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the Eaddy-Ford Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

August Franchini Sr.

MYRTLE BEACH -- August Franchini, Sr., 92, died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Franchini was born April 3, 1912 in Mengen, Germany the son of the late Vittorio Franchini and Theresia Reiner Franchini. He was a retired brick mason and general contractor. Mr. Franchini was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Franchini Albaugh; three sons, Alfred Franchini, August Franchini Jr., and Archie Franchini. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 16 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. Burial will be at the All Saints Church, Waccamaw in Pawleys Island following the service. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 15 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 1506 Gumm Plaza, Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29572 or to a charity of one's choice.
