Kevin Gerald Bragaw

MYRTLE BEACH -- Kevin Gerald Bragaw, age 48, died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at his residence.

Born July 18, 1955 in Bridgeport, Conn., he was the son of Ruth Wahlof Pond and the late Victor Bragaw. Mr. Bragaw was a member of Long Hill Methodist Church in Trumbull, Conn.

Surviving in addition to his mother of Dundee, Fla. are a brother, Tom Bragaw of Punta Gorda, Fla. and three nieces.

The funeral will be private.

Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association, Memorial Center, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.

Jennie V. Cox

MYRTLE BEACH -- Jennie V. Cox, 74, died Friday, May 28, 2004 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Shields Funeral Home of Little River.

Kurt Alan Driesbaugh

CONWAY -- Kurt Alan Driesbaugh, of Reddick Lane, died Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Conway Medical Center. Arrangements will be anno-unced by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.

Myrtle Janette Johnson

CONWAY -- Myrtle Janette Ballen Johnson, age 73, of Hwy. 905, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at her residence after an illness. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2 at Bethel AME Church, 1530 Race Path Avenue in Conway. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Conway. McKiever Funeral Home Inc. of Conway is serving the family.

Mary Ryan Kennedy

GEORGETOWN -- Mary Ryan Kennedy, 91, died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born Mary Catherine Ryan in Schenectady, N.Y. on February 20, 1913. She has been a winter resident of Georgetown since 1984. Mrs. Kennedy was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Schenectady, N.Y., and St. Mary, Our Lady of Ransom, Catholic Church in Georgetown.

Mrs. Kennedy is predeceased by her husband, Paul Richard Kennedy, and children, Elizabeth Houck, Matthew Kennedy, Paul Richard Jr., and Catherine Dramis.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary Jane and her husband, Oscar Boomhower of Schenectady, N.Y., Paula Kennedy of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Patty and her husband, Peter Mack of Latham, N.Y.; one son, William J. and his wife, Sarah Kennedy of Georgetown; 15 grand-children, eight great-grand-children; and one great-great grandchild.

A memorial Mass will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at St. Mary, Our Lady of Ransom, Catholic Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Ronald J. Farrell.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary, Our Lady of Ransom, Catholic Church Building Fund, 317 Broad Street, Georgetown, SC 29440.

Graham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Eva O'Nell King

LONGS -- Eva O'Nell King, age 80, of the Longs Community, died unexpectedly Friday, May 28, 2004 at Waccamaw Community Hospital following a lengthy recovery from surgery.

Born in Little River, Mrs. King was the widow of Thomas J. King and the daughter of the late Dewey Victor Platt and the late Eva Blanche Hardee Platt. Mrs. King was the longest standing member on record at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church. A devoted member, Mrs. King was active in the choir, de-dicated to working with the shut-ins, and the retired owner and operator of King's Upholstery.

Survivors include three sons, Jennings King and wife, Rene of Portland, Ore., Ronald King and wife, Barbara of Loris, and Kendall King of Longs; four daughters, Brenda Joyce King of Myrtle Beach, Lynda Stevens and husband, Mitchell, Jane Kelli DeSante, and Nellie Floyd and husband, Chuck, all of Longs; two brothers, James Platt of Davie, Fla. and Billy Platt of Longs; six sisters, Hattie Stevens of Longs, Doretha Smith of Melbourne, Fla., Oleta Duncan of Little River, Gertrude Sarvis of Loris, Bobbie Jean Brannon of Atlanta, and Louise Edge of Socastee; 20 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Williams and Rev. Mack Hutson officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Plain Cemetery.

Visitation for Mrs. King will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church, under the direction of Hardwick Funeral Home of Loris.

Robert G. Schreiber

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- Robert G. Schreiber, 73, died at his home in North Myrtle Beach. Arrangements will be anno-unced by Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach.

Mary Helen Toler

MYRTLE BEACH -- Mary Helen Goodwin Toler, age 82, died Sunday, May 30, 2004 in Brunswick, N.C. Arrangements will be announced by McKiever Funeral Home Inc. of Conway.

Rev. Clarence W. Bailey

DURHAM, N.C. -- Rev. Clarence William Bailey, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004.

He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on March 19, 1923 to the late Clarence Allen and Aultna McAlphine Bailey. In the early 1900's, Bill served as associate pastor and minister of education at Lakeside Baptist Church in North Myrtle Beach. He had been a Durham and resident and an active member at Angier Avenue Baptist Church at the time of his death.

Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Belle Mitchell Bailey of Durham, N.C.; five children; two stepchildren; eleven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Nell Marie Enslen Bailey.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Duke University Community Hospice Services, 4321 Medical Park Dr., Suite 101, Durham, N.C. 27704; or to Gideon's International.

Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Durham, N.C. is assisting the family.

Dr. Harold Corley

WEST COLUMBIA -- Dr. H. E. "Hap" Corley, well-known South Carolina educator, died on Monday, May 31, 2004, at Lexington Medical Center.

A native of Newberry, he was the son of the late Homer and Annie Sue McCary Corley. Educated at Newberry College and the University of South Carolina, Dr. Corley served over 41 years as a beloved teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent. His many honors and awards include the Order of the Palmetto and South Carolina Educator of the Year. The H. E. Corley Elementary School in Lexington District 5 was named in his honor.

Predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn Cooke Corley, survivors are his wife, Jenny Chandler Corley, and three daughters, Vicki Corley, Lib Bryant (George), and Mary Meyer (Howard). Grandchildren are Louis and Tessa Trebucq, Dawn Davis, Donna Bryant, Rachel Edwards (Nate), and Hannah and Amy Meyer. Stepchildren are Teri Buonasera (Howard), Sheryl Todd (Jerry), William Bolding, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are brother Robert Corley, Jr. (Kit), sisters Polly Shealy, Virginia Renwick (Jim), and Ethel Mayer (Albert), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving, as pallbearers are George Bryant, Howard Meyer, Nate Edwards, Louis Trebucq, Jerry Todd, Howard Buonasera, William Bolding, and Chandler Todd. Honorary pallbearers are the Agape Sunday School Class and the Deacons of Riverland Hills Baptist Church, the Old Guard Golfers of Cold Stream Country Club, J.T. and Emily Hubbard, John and Frieda Liston and Jack and Mary Watson.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Columbia. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the building fund at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 500 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, S.C. 29210. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Jennie V. Cox

MYRTLE BEACH -- Jennie V. Cox, 74, of Raven St., died Friday, May 28, 2004. The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Chesterfield Missionary Baptist Church, Hwy 90 in the Popular Community. Burial will be in Montgomery Cemetery. Shields Funeral Home, Inc. of Little River is serving the family.
