Viola Choate
YORK - Mrs. Viola Rankin Choate, 100, of 175 Jerry Rankin Lane died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronnie Baxter officiating and the Revs. John Simpson and Darial Jackson assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Choate attended York County public schools. She joined Center Grove Church at an early age and later joined Union Baptist Church, where she was a member of the hymn choir. She was also a member of the White Hill Burial Aid Society.
Surviving are three granddaughters whom she reared, Mary R. Love of the home, Paula M. Barber of Fort Mill and Janet R. Grant of Rock Hill; six great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Wright Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Crystal Freeman
FORT MILL - Miss Crystal Lynn Freeman, 15, of 1161 Hensley Road died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at her home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Flint Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Born in York County, Miss Freeman was a Communities in Schools student in Rock Hill.
Surviving are her parents, Archie Freeman of Fort Mill and Wanda Faye Freeman of York; her brother, Bruce Wayne Freeman of Fort Mill; and her paternal grandmother, Evelyn Freeman of Fort Mill.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home.

Ella Hall
LANCASTER - Mrs. Ella Jane Patterson Hall, 99, of Lancaster Convalescent Center died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Allen Brazzell officiating. A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Earls Pentecostal Holiness Church cemetery in Andrews.
Born in Richmond County, N.C., Mrs. Hall was a homemaker. She was the widow of Ivey J. Stacy and Oddie Hall.
Surviving are her daughter, Flossie Stacy Lambert of Lancaster; her brother, Raymond Patterson of Charleston; her grandson; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Fulton Harley Sr.
LANCASTER - Mr. Fulton Leroy Harley Sr., 86, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at Saluda Nursing Home in Saluda.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Shane Patrick and Roy Barnes officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
Born in Orangeburg County, Mr. Harley was a member of First Baptist Church of Lancaster.
Surviving are two sons, Tony Harley of Saluda and Johnny Harley of Lancaster; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Georgia Nunnery
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Georgia Bulla Nunnery, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at Ebenezer Nursing Home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today, at Ebenezer ARP Church, with the Revs. Jack Basie, Boyce Wilson, Doug Jones and Charles Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.
A native of Thomasville, N.C., Mrs. Nunnery was a member of Ebenezer ARP Church, and taught Bible school. She was a member of Circle No. 4 and its Bible leader. She was the first secretary for Rock Hill Housing Authority, and was retired from the York school district superintendent's office. She was also the secretary and treasurer for Rock Hill High School. She was the widow of Curtis Odell Nunnery Sr.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Kenneth E. Nunnery of Fort Mill, and Curtis Odell Nunnery Jr. of Fayetteville, N.C.; her daughter, Phyllis Nunnery Jennings of Tucker, Ga.; her sister, Agnes Comer of Greenville; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Barnell Overstreet
CHARLOTTE - Mr. Barnell "Barney" Overstreet, 62, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home, 5301 Albemarle Road, with the Rev. Wade Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Sharon Memorial Park.
A Sylvania, Ga., native, Mr. Overstreet retired in 1993 from A-1 Professional Moving & Storage and worked previously at Martin Transfer & Storage. He worked for more than 30 years in the moving industry and was a past president of the Charlotte Household Mover Association.
Surviving are his wife, Annette Overstreet; two daughters, Donna Pierce of York and Diane Overstreet of Charlotte; his sister, Virginia Reddick of Sylvania, Ga.; and his grandson.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Wilson Funeral Home.

Ethel Stanford
CHESTER - Mrs. Ethel Wall Stanford, 97, of Wesley Woods Towers in Atlanta, formerly of Chester, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at Dunwoody Medical Center in Atlanta.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Wallace Tinsley and Will Brown officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Born in Lancaster, Mrs. Stanford graduated from Chester High School and Saint Luke Hospital School of Nursing in Richmond, Va. She was a retired registered nurse and practiced nursing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia for more than 30 years. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was the second oldest member. She was the widow of A. Leland Stanford.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Tewell of Atlanta and Carolyn Hicklin of Chester; her sister, Mary W. Peterson of Charlotte; five grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel United Methodist Church.

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Martin Luther Walters, 87, died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by McEwen Funeral Home.

James Young Sr.
BLACKSTOCK - Mr. James Kenneth "Pimp" Young Sr., 40, of 1968 Overlook Road died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, with the Rev. T.G. Green officiating and the Revs. Moses Lightener and J.E. Darby assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A Chester County native, Mr. Young was a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he was a trustee. He was a 1976 graduate of Chester High School. He was employed with Charles K. Dolittle Logging Co.
Surviving are his wife, Sherry Craig Young of the home; his son, James Kenneth Young Jr. of the home; two daughters, Tiwana Young and Antonya Young, both of the home; his stepmother, Shirley Young of Chester; and five brothers, Coleman Lee Young of Richburg, Harold Young and Ulysses Young, both of Chester, and Floyd Young and Willie Burt Young, both of Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends at the home.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 tonight at King's Funeral Home.

Eula Adkins
CHESTER - Mrs. Eula Minnie Price Adkins, 72, of 690 Goldmine Road died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at Chester County Nursing Center.
The funeral will be Friday in Kingsport, Tenn., with Oakhill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born in Virginia, Mrs. Adkins was a housewife. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Liberty Chapter No. 198 in Kingsport, Tenn.
Surviving are her husband, Fred Adkins; two daughters, Rita Frost of Anderson and Martha Presley of Chester; four brothers; three sisters; and five grandchildren.
Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Dwight Carroll
WESTLAND, Mich. - Mr. Dwight F. Carroll, 73, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998.
Born in York, Mr. Carroll was retired from the former General Motors Fisher Body Plant in Livonia, Mich., where he was a UAW official for 34 years.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Carroll; his stepson, Phillip Caudill; his stepdaughter, Judy DeLeonardis; four sisters, Delois Moss of Blacksburg, Rhoda Hill of Columbia, Geraldine Wilkerson of Hickory Grove and Peggy Fulcher of Kannapolis, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
L.J. Griffin Funeral Home was in charge.

Jimmy Cloud
FORT LAWN - Mr. Jimmy T. Cloud, 78, of 5415 Baxter Drive died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home.

William Clyburn
LANCASTER - Mr. William Porter "Bill" Clyburn, 90, of 307 South Market St. died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Morgan officiating. Burial will be at West Side Cemetery.
A Lancaster native, Mr. Clyburn was a member of First United Methodist Church and Sunday school. He was a Clemson University graduate. During World War II, he was a company commander of 103 D. Chemical Processing Company. He was in service for four years and was stationed at New Guinea, the Philippines, Edgewood Arsenal, Camp Siberts and Salt Lake City. He was discharged at the rank of major. He was a chemist at DuPont in Waynesboro, Va., and later opened the Clyburn Insurance Agency in Lancaster, which he operated for 39 years. He was the widower of Nell Virginia Coyner Clyburn.
Surviving are two brothers, Gene Securst Clyburn and Tip Franklin Clyburn; and his sister, Ruby Clyburn of Lancaster.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

CHESTER - Mrs. Jessie Jones Land, 83, of 210 Flint St. Apt. I2 died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

CHESTER - Mr. Sam Moore, 84, of 505 Ashford St. died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at his home.
