Cleo Whiteside
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Cleo Whiteside, 82, of 376 Windy Cove Road, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Greg Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Spartanburg, Mrs. Whiteside was a homemaker and a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are her sons, James Whiteside of Rock Hill, Bobby Whiteside of Greenville and Wayne Whiteside of Myrtle Beach; her daughters, Mary Hall and Elaine Hollis, both of Rock Hill; her sister, Hazel Baldock of Startex; two brothers, Garland Bailey of Lyman and John Bailey of Danville, Va.; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home. Other times at the home.

Rudolph Blanks
EDGEMOOR - Mr. Rudolph F. "Rudy" Blanks, 72, of 4214 Edgeland Road died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Columbia.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lando Cemetery, with the Rev. William Stroud officiating.
Born in Chester County, Mr. Blanks was of the Baptist faith and served in the Navy during World War II. He retired from the Manetta Mills in Lando where he worked nearly 40 years as a doffer.
Surviving are his mother, Lillian Allen Blanks of the home; two brothers, Wilbert B. Blanks of Edgemoor and Marion W. Blanks of Rock Hill; and two sisters, Peggy Curtis of Rock Hill and Stella Booth of Myrtle Beach.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Lando Baptist Church.
Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Marvin Campbell
YORK - Mr. Marvin Cecil Campbell, 85, of 595 Adkins Road died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Thomas McPhail officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Born in Gastonia, N.C., Mr. Campbell was a retired textile overseer. He was a member of Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Bertie Jarrell Campbell of York; his daughter, Peggy Campbell Carroll of York; four sisters, Sula C. Mace, Frankie C. Fulbright and Ruby C. Lunsford, all of Newton, N.C., and Rose C. Fulbright of Mount City, Tenn.; his grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 1184 N. Shiloh Road, York, SC 29745.
York Funeral Home is in charge.

Sylvia Crosby
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The funeral for Mrs. Sylvia Strothers Crosby, 89, of Brooklyn, N.Y., formerly of Halseville Road in Chester, who died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at SSI Nursing Home in Brooklyn, will be 2 p.m. today at Upper Hope Station Baptist Church in Fairfield County.
The Rev. James Coleman will be officiating and the Rev. T.G. Greene will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Crosby was born in Fairfield County and was the widow of Ervin Crosby. She attended Upper Hope Station Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member and was mother of the church. She was a choir member, missionary, and a former usher and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Silver Hill Order of Eastern Star No. 244 and of AP&B Society No. 31. While residing in Brooklyn, she attended St. Luke Community Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Annie C. Maye of Brooklyn; her brother, Simelton Strothers of Baltimore; three sisters, Louise Young of Baltimore, Wilhemia Roseborough of Fairfield, N.C., and Lillie A. Mayfield of Lancaster; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Ruby Chisholm, 170-A Jeter St., Chester.
The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. today.
King's Funeral Home is in charge.

Horace W. Davis
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Mr. Horace W. Davis, 57, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at his home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Parker Funeral Home.

Joel Feaster
RICHBURG - Joel Davion Feaster, the 8-month-old infant son of Sherreka Feaster and Joel David Ramsey, of 3544 Mountain Gap Road died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Rossville AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Anthony Commodore officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
The baby was born in Spartanburg County.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his maternal grandparents, Curtis James and Betty Jo Feaster of Richburg; his paternal grandparents, William and Laurie Ramsey of Richburg; his maternal great-grandmother, Annie B. Feaster of Chester; and his paternal great-grandmother, Annie Wright of Edgemoor.
The family will receive friends at the home.
The body may be viewed from 3 to 8 tonight at King's Funeral Home in Chester.
The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Reginald Jennings
CHESTER - Mr. Reginald "Mickey" Jennings, 49, of 628 Lancaster Highway died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home.

Carrie Jourdan
CHESTER - Mrs. Carrie Lee Doster Jourdan, 90, of 705 Parkway Drive died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church, with the Revs. Steve Bishop and Dennis Reid officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Born in Chester County, Mrs. Jourdan was retired from Springs Industries as a cloth inspector. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and attended the schools of Chester County. She was the widow of William W. Jourdan.
Surviving are three sons, William L. Jourdan and Ernest L. Jourdan, both of Chester, and Eugene W. Jourdan of Summerville; three daughters, Lucille J. Hope, Dorothy J. Gheen and Irene J. McKeown, all of Chester; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

William Love
FREDERICK, Md. - Mr. William Otis Love, formerly of York, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Frederick University Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Gary Rollins Funeral Home.
Surviving is his sister, Catherine Armstrong of Clover.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Gary Rollins Funeral Home, 110 West South St., Frederick.

James Lyles
LANCASTER - Mr. James William "Curly" Lyles, 73, of 1006 Laurel Ave. died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Hartley Funeral Home, with Dr. Bobby Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
Born in Kershaw County, Mr. Lyles was retired from Springs Industries as a supervisor in the spinning department at the Lancaster Plant. He was in the Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Margie Phillips Lyles of the home; two sons, James Michael Lyles of Easley and Jack D. Lyles of Piedmont; his brother, Johnnie Eugene Lyles of Pensacola, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to White Springs Baptist Church building fund, 1249 Grace Ave., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Bonita McCoy
YORK - Ms. Bonita McCoy, 41, of 56 McClain St. died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wright Funeral Home.

Evelyn Nichols
HARRIMAN, Tenn. - Mrs. Evelyn McDaniel Nichols, 83, formerly of Rock Hill, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Roane Medical Center in Harriman.
She was the widow of Howard Nichols of Rock Hill.
Surviving are her sister, Hazel Stroud of Mooresville, N.C.; two grandsons, Mike Nichols of Rock Hill and Dennis Nichols of Spring City, Tenn.; her great-granddaughter that she reared, Christina Nichols of Columbia; and four other great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Catawba Baptist Church, 2639 Catawba Church Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Billy Orr
GREAT FALLS - Mr. Billy John Orr, 94, formerly of 7 Wilson Ave., died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at the Brian Center in Columbia.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, with Dr. Todd Morris officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Born in Fairfield County, Mr. Orr was formerly employed at Republic Cotton Mill. He was the widower of Sally Carico Orr.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

George Peterson
CHESTER - Mr. George Peterson, 54, of 590 Belt Line Road died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The family is at the home of Mrs. Hattie Gray, 119 Elizabeth St.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Denton Funeral Home.

Dorothy Putnam
LEXINGTON - Mrs. Dorothy Page Putnam, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998.
A memorial service was Tuesday.
Born in Clover, Mrs. Putnam worked in the WPA Writers' Program and participated in the preparation of South Carolina: A Guide to the Palmetto State. She was a member of Shandon Presbyterian Church, where she was an advisor to the pioneer fellowship, pianist for the Junior Department, a choir member and a member of the Women of the Church program.
Surviving are her husband, B. Hugh Putnam Jr. of the home; her son, Bluford H. Putnam III of New York; her daughter, Page Putnam Miller of Arlington, Va.; her brother William Joseph Page of Durham, N.C.; her sister, Grace Page Spann of Thomasville, Ga.; and her grandson.
Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Home of South Carolina, P.O. Box 210037, Columbia, SC 29221-0037.
