Loy Weir
BLACKSTOCK - Mr. Loy Whiteside Weir, 91, of 1486 Hopewell Church Road died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hopewell ARP Church, with the Rev. James D. McLurkin officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Born in Chester County, Mr. Weir graduated from Blackstock High School and attended Erskine College. He was employed with Borden's Inc. for 30 years. He was a lifelong member, elder and deacon at Hopewell ARP Church.
Surviving are his wife, Leecy M. Weir; and his sister, Lillian Weir of Blackstock.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Bill Adams
LANCASTER - Mr. Bill Hunter Adams, 70, of 2120 J. B. Denton Road died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Springdell Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry DeVenny officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A Lancaster County native, Mr. Adams was a master carpenter for Duke Power Co. He was a member of Springdell Baptist Church and was an Army and Air Force veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille Lucas Adams of the home; two sons, Kaywood H. Adams and William L. "Bill" Adams, both of Lancaster; his daughter, Marie Adams Yoder of Lancaster; his father, Hunter Melborne Adams of Lancaster; three brothers, Cecil Adams, Joe Adams and Thomas L. Adams, all of Lancaster; his sister, Betty Jean Pittman of Lancaster; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Oscar Brown
ABBEVILLE - Mr. Oscar Edward Brown, 82, of 204 Fuller Road died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Harris Funeral Home. Burial will be at Long Cane Cemetery.
Born in Union County, Mr. Brown was a retired textiles employee of Abbeville Mills with over 37 years of service. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was the widower of Ruth Hall Brown.
Surviving are his wife, Grace Martin Brown of Abbeville; his son, James Edward Brown of Chester; his daughter, Betty B. Fuller of Abbeville; his sister, Katheryn Jacobs of Columbia; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Harris Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of his daughter, 204 Fuller Road.

Gracie Carter
CLOVER - Mrs. Gracie Simpson Carter , 75, of Greenfield Manor in Gastonia, formerly of 938 St. Paul Church Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Woods officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Born in Lowrys, Mrs. Carter was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she was a member of the hymn choir and the missionary society.
Surviving are eight sons, William R. Carter of Kernersville, N.C., Mose E. Carter of Grover, N.C., Timothy Carter of Springfield, Ill., Melvin D. Carter of Visileck, Germany, Dell L. Carter of Clover, Allen M. Carter of Charlotte, and Stanley Carter and Eddie M. Carter, both of Gastonia, N.C.; three daughters, Dorothy Davis of Akron, Ohio, Hattie Alston of Irvington, N.J., and Brenda Carter of Clover; her sister, Daisy Dunovant of Staten Island, N.Y.; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Wright Funeral Home is in charge.

Doris Childers
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Doris Brooks Childers, 62, of 707 Patriot Parkway, Apt. 403, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at her home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Patricia Griffith-Fallaw officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.
A Rock Hill native, Mrs. Childers was a retiree of Defenders Resort, Heritage USA and Defenders Industries, Rosewood Elementary. She was a homemaker and a member of West End Baptist Church. She was the widow of Leroy Childers.
Surviving are three sons, Tony Childers and Michael Childers, both of Lake Wylie, and Lane Childers of Rock Hill; two daughters, Kimberly C. Barfield and Sandra Johnson, both of Rock Hill; her stepson, Don L. Childers of Charlotte; her stepdaughter, Deannie C. Carter of York; a number of brothers and sisters; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Frank Crowder
LANDO - Mr. Frank P. Crowder, 65, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. William Evans officiating.
Born in York County, Mr. Crowder was formerly employed with Rock Hill Printing and Finishing and Manetta Mills. He was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Jeane Hagler Crowder; his daughter, Diane Woods of Georgia; his sister, Louise Jennings of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Clyde Demby
EDGEMOOR - Mr. Clyde Richard Demby, 74, of 1972 Hall Spencer Road died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Simmons officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.
Born in Rock Hill, Mr. Demby was a retired carpenter, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Lando Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Archie Demby of the home; two sons, John Wayne Demby of Edgemoor and Richard Scott Demby of Franklin, N.C.; two sisters, Ethel West and Ellen Crosby, both of Rock Hill; two grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Willie Hall
ROCK HILL - Mr. Willie Jasper Hall died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Tabernacle AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Herbert Crump officiating. Entombment will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A York County native, Mr. Hall attended the public schools of York County. He was retired from Williams Gulf Service. He was a member of Tabernacle AME Zion Church.
Surviving are two sons, Bobby Ray Hall and Willie Marshall Hall, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Shirley McLean and Betty Ruth Leach, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Wardell Hall of Bronx, N.Y., and Willie Barber of Portsmouth, Va.; four sisters, Frances Hall Harp and Naomi Hall Johnson, both of New York City, Ruth Hall English of Bronx, N.Y., and Louise Hall McMullen of Rock Hill; his granddaughter, whom he reared, Joyce A. Hall of Rock Hill; 22 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Kathryn Harrington
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Kathryn Peden Harrington, 70, of 3291 India Hook Road died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at her home.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Tim McClendon officiating.
Born in Fountain Inn, Mrs. Harrington was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She was retired from Fruehauf in Charlotte, where she was an assembly line worker for nearly 20 years.
Surviving are her son, Sam P. Harrington of Kershaw; two daughters, Kathy H. McKenzie of Salem and Judy H. Coleman of Rock Hill; her stepson, Mickey Harrington of Concord, N.C.; her sister, Lois Peden of Rock Hill; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister, 2185 India Hook Road.

Elizabeth Horency
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Elizabeth Basile Horency, 76, of 127 Murrah Drive died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Magnolia Manor.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

Robert Jeter
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Mr. Robert "Bobby" Jeter, 65, of 867 Pacific St. died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Rowell Baptist Church in Union County, with the Rev. Kenneth Murray officiating and the Revs. Ralph E. Lipsey Jr., J.D. McClurkin, Ramond Davis and Danny Good assisting. Burial will be at Gore's Cemetery.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, Mr. Jeter was a member of Mount Rowell Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Sims High School in Union, a Mason and a Royal Arch Mason in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was an Army veteran and a security officer for the city of New York.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Gore Jeter of Sharon; five sons, Terry Jeter of Boston, Kevin Jeter of Piscataway, N.J., Sonny Jeter and Ryan Pendergrass, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Dennis Jeter of Sharon; two daughters, Eleanor Orr and Felecia Jeter, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his brother, Carson Jeter Jr. of Sharon; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Gladys Jeter, 4693 Cable Road, Sharon.
The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

James Kelly
YORK - Mr. James Andrew Kelly, 91, of 411 E. Liberty St. died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev. James Correll officiating and the Rev. James Gable assisting.
Born in High Point, N.C., Mr. Kelly was the former owner and operator of Kelly's Plumbing and Air Conditioning Co. He was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma Ramsey Kelly of York; four sons, Steve Kelly of Rock Hill, Danny Kelly of York, Jimmy Kelly of El Cajan, Calif., and Jack Kelly of New Castle, Del.; two sisters, Sarah Kelly Deaton of San Diego and Kate Kelly Byrd of High Point, N.C.; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.

Lawrence Kithcart
FORT MILL - Mr. Lawrence Michael "Larry" Kithcart, 48, of 7655 Charlotte Highway died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cauthen Funeral Home.

Arthur Knox
CHESTER - Mr. Arthur N. Knox, 34, of 124 1/2 McClure St. died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Friendship Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.E. Page officiating and the Rev. L.L. Robinson assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A Chester native, Mr. Knox was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a 1981 graduate of Chester High School and attended York Technical College. He was employed at Willamette.
Surviving are his wife, Lachan A. Knox of the home; his son, Sharone Peterson of the home; four daughters, Kimberly Peterson, Dundra Knox and Torey Knox, all of the home, and Sherika Bryant of Chester; his father, William James of Teaneck, N.J.; his mother, Helen Knox of Chester; two brothers, Dwight A. Knox of Chester and Lance James of Jersey City, N.J.; two sisters, Jacqueline James and Kerhonda James, both of Teaneck, N.J.; and his maternal grandfather, Odell Knox of Rock Hill.
The family will receive friends at the home.
The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.
