LAKE WYLIE - Mr. Lee A. Thornburg, 70, of 221 Riverview Terrace, River Hills Plantation, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at his home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover.
Surviving are his wife, Joanna B. Thornburg, of the home; and two sons, Eric Scott Thornburg and Bruce Alan Thornburg, both of Columbus, Ohio.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2535, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Nellie Totherow
FORT MILL - Mrs. Nellie Lee Brooks Totherow, 67, of 1363 Highway 21 Business died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fort Mill Church of God, with the Revs. David Kemp and Joe Lambert officiating. Entombment will be at Grand View Memorial Mausoleum.
A native of Clover, Mrs. Totherow was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, Lewis Ed Totherow; two sons, Timmy Totherow and Jimmy Totherow, both of Fort Mill; three daughters, Susan Barfield and Jane Totherow, both of Fort Mill, and Gail Spears of Rock Hill; her brother, Berry Brooks of Fort Mill; two sisters, Frances Broom and Maxine Ellis, both of Fort Mill; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Fort Mill Church of God Building Fund, 221 Academy Street, Fort Mill, SC 29715 or to Sisk Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 119 Massey Street, Fort Mill, SC 29715.
Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Jack Carroll of 547 Liberty St. died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Bass Funeral Home.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Ms. Merdice Stinson Dumas, formerly of Fort Lawn, died Thursday, Jan.1, 1998, at Brookdale Hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home in Chester.

David Gaither
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Mr. David Gaither, formerly of Great Falls, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, in Brooklyn.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls.

Kerney Howell III
ROCK HILL - Kerney Howell III, the infant son of Kerney Howell II and Barbara C. Knightner Howell of 285-F South Herlong Ave., died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. John Brown officiating.
Surviving are his parents; three sisters, Brittany Peters, Chelsey Howell and Kelsey Howell, all of the home; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kerney Howell of Rock Hill; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Barber Knightner of Rock Hill.
Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Rosa Hydrick
FORT MILL - Mrs. Rosa Hydrick, 92, of 1182 Heritage Court died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at her home.
Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Unity Cemetery. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Unity Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Daniel Holloway Jr. and the Rev. Ray Mohrmann officiating.
A native of Waterloo, Mrs. Hydrick was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church. She was retired from Richland 1 school district's finance department. She was a charter member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Althea Garden Club and the Business and Professional Woman's Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Rosemary Ellis and Jerry Brady, both of Fort Mill; her sister, J.B. Funderburk of Charleston; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

John Marthers
CHARLOTTE - Mr. John Wesley Marthers, 64, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at McEwen Charlotte Chapel, with Dr. Charles Foushee officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Charlotte.
Mr. Marthers was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church and West Gate Masonic Lodge No. 738 A.F. & A.M. He served in the National Guard in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Marthers; his son, David M. Marthers of Denver, N.C.; two daughters, Sherry M. Finley of Rock Hill and Angie M. Rowlette of Charlotte; three sisters, Ella Mae Bland, Thelma Turner and Mickey Dominy; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at McEwen Funeral Service.
Memorials may be made to Ridgeview Baptist Church, 7700 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC 28214.

Oscar McCall
CLOVER - Mr. Oscar Berry McCall, 83, formerly of Clover died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. William K. Neely officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.
Mr. McCall was a member of Clover First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his brother, N.P. "Shorty" McCall of Clover; and two sisters, Bertha Loner of Blythewood and Dean Miller of Clover.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Christine Melton
FORT MILL - Mrs. Christine Blackwell Melton, 55, of 1975 Ripplerock Road died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at her home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home today.
A native of Fort Mill, Mrs. Melton was a homemaker and a member of Glenrock Baptist Church.

Ralph Allen
LANCASTER - Mr. Ralph T. Allen, 63, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill, with the Rev. Dennis Buchanan officiating.
A Sharon native, Mr. Allen was a retired electrician. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was of the Church of God faith.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Allen of Clover and his sister, Thelma Allen Burris of Rock Hill.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his sister, 455 E. Border Road, Rock Hill.

Jeanette Baker
LANCASTER - Mrs. Jeanette Phillips Baker, 86, of 430 Providence Road died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at First ARP Church, with the Rev. Gilbert Rowell and Dr. Roy Beckham officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
A Lancaster county native, Mrs. Baker was a homemaker. She was a member of First ARP Church and its Nannie Millen Circle. She was a former St. Luke Girl Scout Troop co-leader. She was a charter and lifetime member of Antioch Chapter 291 Order of Eastern Star, had served as worthy matron, held project chair positions for the Grand Chapter of South Carolina and was the grand representative to Colorado for the Grand Chapter of South Carolina.
Surviving are her husband, R. Brooks Baker of Lancaster; two sons, James Brooks Baker of Mint Hill, N.C., and Reid Hamilton Baker of Lancaster; three brothers, Clyde R. Phillips of Heath Springs, Stephen F. Phillips Jr. of Winter Park, Fla., and David C. Phillips of Florence; four sisters, Marion Shearer, Lillian Crenshaw, Clovis Steele and Ethel Morton, all of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Reid Baker, 1136 West Manor Drive, Lancaster.
Memorials may be made to First ARP Church, 701 N. Main St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

YORK - Mrs. Deborah Blake, 42, of 504 California Circle died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Beasley Funeral Home.

Jack Carroll
ROCK HILL - Mr. Jack L. Carroll, 71, of 547 Liberty St. died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A York County native, Mr. Carroll was the former owner and operator of Dixie Chemical Co. for 30 years. He was a member of Park Baptist Church for 30 years, past commander of the American Legion, and a member of the Legion's Forty and Eight Club, the VFW and the York County Fair Association. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Bobbie Jean Carroll; his daughter, Lisa Carroll of Rock Hill; and his brother, Ted Carroll of Rock Hill.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Park Baptist Church, 717 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Arthur Knox
CHESTER - Mr. Arthur N. Knox, 34, of 124 1/2 McClure St. died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home.

Vanessa McDonald
LANCASTER - Mrs. Vanessa Woods McDonald, 24, of 1757 Baker St. died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Lybrand officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mrs. McDonald was a Lancaster County native.
Surviving are her husband, Jerry C. McDonald; her son, Timothy Scott Steele Jr.; three daughters, Kimberly June Steele, Kayla Renea McDonald and Hannah Kay McDonald, all of Lancaster; her parents, Chivers Woods Jr. and Linda Helms Woods, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Anthony Eugene Woods and T.J. Woods, both of Lancaster; and her sister, Candy Blackmon of Lancaster.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.
