KERSHAW - Mr. Leroy Bowers, 52, of 6554 Bowers Lane died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bryant D. Fersner Jr. and the Rev. Donald Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Kershaw City Cemetery.
Born in Kershaw, Mr. Bowers was a member of First Baptist Church and of the Woodman of the World. He was a lab technician for DuPont.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Davis Bowers; his son, Robert Jeffcoat Bowers of Columbia; six brothers, Ferris Bowers, Raymond Bowers, David Bowers, William Bowers, Woodrow Bowers, all of Kershaw, and Randolph Bowers of Heath Springs; and two sisters, Jean Ray of Bethune and Ann Bowers of Kershaw.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

James Brown
GREAT FALLS - Mr. James "J.B." Allen Brown, 55, of Brown's Road died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Great Falls, with the Rev. Edward Jeter officiating. Burial will be at Fairview AME Zion Church in Great Falls.
Mr. Brown was a member of Fairview AME Zion Church and was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens and Carl Mackey Car Sales. He attended the Elizabeth Heights High School in Great Falls.
Surviving are his former wife, Lillie Bell Cunningham Brown of Lancaster; his son, Christopher Brown of Lancaster; two daughters, Angela Russ of Charlotte and Priscilla Brown of Lancaster; four brothers, Johnas Brown of Tacoma, Wash., and Willie Brown, Jessie Brown and Thomas J. Brown, all of Great Falls; four sisters, Nora Lee Cloud and Naomi Gaston, both of Charlotte, Martha Brown and Ola Mae Watson, both of Great Falls; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls.

Eldon Casey
LANCASTER - Mr. Eldon Dewitt Casey, 56, of 212 Shirway Court in Lexington died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, in Lexington.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marty Cox officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
Born in Lancaster, Mr. Casey was a retired sign painter and artist.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Casey of Columbia and Tommy Casey of Great Falls; two brothers, Richard Casey of Lake City and Michael Harold Casey of Sanford; three sisters, Martha Ann Weaver of Sumter, and Brenda Ann Watts and Sharon Horne, both of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Sam and Sharon Horne, 536 W. Shiloh-Unity Road in Lancaster.

Thetus Faile
KERSHAW - Mrs. Thetus Virginia Lee Plyler Faile, 55, of 7726 Flat Creek Road died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Midway Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randall Runion officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Born in Monroe, N.C., she was a member of Midway Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and past president of the Women's Missionary Union. She was the chairperson of the Personal Witnessing Group.
Surviving are her husband, Keith Lowery Faile; two sons, Jim F. Faile and Kelly L. Faile, both of Tampa, Fla.; her daughter, Keitha L. Faile of Atlanta; her mother, Georgia Lee McManus Plyler of Monroe; four brothers, J.R. Plyler of Lakeland, Fla., Robert F. Plyler of Philadelphia, and Michael Leigh Plyler and Joseph Dean Plyler, both of Monroe; two sisters, Mary Jane Estridge of Kershaw and Lucy Burgess of Monroe; and a grandson.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane-Westpark Plaza, Columbia, SC 29210.

Ginny Kerr
WAXHAW - Ms. Virginia Rose Williams "Ginny" Kerr, 88, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Harrison United Methodist Church, with Pastor Linwood Brooks officiating.
Born in Mount Holly, she graduated from Rock Hill High School and Fennell Infirmary Training School for Nurses. She was a registered nurse at St. Phillips Hospital in Rock Hill. She was married to James Spratt "Joe" Kerr and was a nurse at Charlotte Memorial Hospital in Obstetrics and Gynecology until she retired. Mrs. Kerr was also a longtime member of Harrison United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Joe Kerr; her son, J. Donald Kerr of Waxhaw; her daughter Paulette Kerr; her grandchild; and her great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Friday at Harrison United Methodist Church.

NEW YORK - Mrs. Roxie Anna Page, 64, formerly of Rock Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at 1 Troy Ave. in New York.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mary Davis, 1030 Stoneybrook Lane.

Robby Steele
LANCASTER - Mr. Robby A. Steele, 75, of 1352 McIlwain Road died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, in the Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Gilbert H. Rowell officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
Born in Lancaster County, he was the retired owner and operator of Steele's Hardware. He was a World War II Army veteran, receiving the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and teacher of the John and Mary Sunday school class. He was also a member of the American Legion, the D.A.V. and the University of South Carolina at Lancaster Fitness Club.
Surviving are his wife, Clovis Phillips Steele; two daughters, Robbin Ingram of Lancaster and Carol Steele of Hawaii; his brother, Ben C. Steele Sr. of Lancaster; two sisters, Elinor S. Robinson of Heath Springs and Dorothy Cauthen of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Mahaffey Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Cecil Wade
GREAT FALLS - Mr. Cecil Marcus Wade, 85, of 6600 Richburg Road died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, at his home.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. John Rumford officiating.
Born in Chester County, he was a retired supervisor with J.P. Stevens Co. and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He attended Chester County schools.
Surviving are his wife, Jamell Watts Wade; two sons, Al Wade of Columbia and Gene Wade of Charlotte; his brother, Raymond F. Wade of Great Falls; his sister, Miriam Walsh of Chester; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Clary Wilson
CHESTER - Mrs. Clary Galloway Wilson, 68, of 625 Park Way Drive died Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997, at home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. W.G. Boulware officiating, assisted by the Rev. Moses Lightner. Burial will be at Goldmine AME Zion cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson was a retired domestic worker and the widow of Willie Mack Wilson. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Clara W. Geter, Marion Richmond, Asalee Nichols and Bessie M. Dye, all of Chester; two adopted daughters, Shanta Jackson and Amy Jackson of Chester; her stepson, Johnny Feaster of Chester; nine grandchildren, including Aries Nichols and Gene Young of Chester, whom she raised; and 11 great-grandchildren
The family will receive friends at the residence. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friday.

Betty Ard
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Betty Jean Brannon Ard, 62, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at Meadow Haven Rehabilitation and Specialty Care Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Mitch Hunter and Doug Martin officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.
Born in York County, Mrs. Ard was a member of First Baptist Church and was active in the Women's Circle. She was the widow of Kelly Ard and was a homemaker.
Surviving are her son, David Kelly Ard of Rock Hill; her daughter, Donna Ard Smith of Rock Hill; two brothers, James Brannon of Fort Mill and Barney Brannon of Rock Hill; two sisters, Mary Bigham and Polly Love, both of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association of South Carolina or to the First Baptist Church Forward By Faith Fund.

Michelle Banks
ROCK HILL - Miss Michelle Ann Banks, 29, of 1705 Bird Street, Rock Hill, formerly of Chester, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997 at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church in Chester, with the Rev. W.E. Page officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She was a Chester County native and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her father, Joe W. Banks of Chester; her mother, Mary Louise Feister Banks of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, John W. Banks of Chester and Jimmy Lee Banks of Allendale; and four sisters, Janice B. Dunifer, Vickie Banks and Wanda Hayes, all of Chester, and Teresa Feister of Knoxville, Tenn.
The family will receive friends at the home of Vicki Banks, 1345 Old York Road, Chester.
The body will lie in state at the church Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m.

Cecil Barrett
GASTONIA, N.C. - Mr. Cecil Beaumont Barrett, 93, of 2437 Milton St. died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at Greenfield Manor.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sisk-Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Bessemer City, N.C., with the Revs. Richard Johnson and John T. Bowden officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery in Clover.
A native of York County, Mr. Barrett was a card grinder in the textile industry. He was a member of the Myrtle United Methodist Church Senior Sunday school class and was also a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Clover.
Surviving are his wife, Dovie Cash Barrett; two brothers, Archie Brown Barrett of Clover and James Austin Barrett of Cherryville, N.C.; and his sister, Naomi B. Baird of Clover.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Sisk-Butler Funeral Home.

Patricia Finnerty
TEGA CAY - Mrs. Patricia Ciepierski Finnerty, 43, of 27085 Village Drive, Tega Cay, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at her home.
A graveside service will be held in Cheshire, Conn., at a later date.
Born in Cranford, N.J., Mrs. Finnerty worked in the food service department with Harris Teeter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Joseph Finnerty, who died Dec. 4, 1997.
Surviving are her father, John Lawrence Ciepierski of Charlotte.
Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
