Funeral--2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2004, at Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church in Cope with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation--6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. in Orangeburg.

Arnold Bishop

GREENVILLE — Services for Arnold Newton Bishop, 73, are 2:30 p.m. Sunday (visitation 1-2:15 p.m.) at Monaghan Baptist Church; burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The Howze Mortuary, Travelers Rest, is in charge. Born in Greenville Co. to John and Maude N. Bishop, he died Dec. 29, 2004. Surviving: wife, Mary Jo Bishop; children, Debra Galloway, Patricia Raines, A. Norman, David, Bret Bishop; grandchildren; 2 sisters.

Iva Cathcart

NORTH AUGUSTA — Services for Iva S. Cathcart, 81, are 2 p.m. Saturday at Rowland Funeral Home; visitation to follow. Burial is 3 p.m. Sunday in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville (visitation 1-2 p.m. prior at #1 Cherry Lane Drive). Born in Pickens Co., she died Dec. 29, 2004. Surviving are children, Brent Cathcart, Kay Fox; sisters, Nannie Ferguson, Addie Ware, Edith Evans; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.

Oscar Craven

WALTERBORO — Services with burial for Oscar Craven, 78, widower of Miriam Craven, 11 a.m. Saturday at Jacksonboro Baptist Church; visitation 6-8 tonight at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home. Born in Colleton Co. to David and Charlotte Craven, he died Dec. 29, 2004. Surviving: children, Linda Langevin, Michael, Dennis Craven; sister, Adell Herndon; one half sister; five half brothers; five grandchildren; others.

Edgar Deas

LANCASTER — A celebration of life service for Edgar E. Deas, 79, widower of Mary Deas, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Grace Freewill Baptist Church, where he was a member, with burial in Lancaster Memorial Park. Hartley Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Kershaw Co. to Ben and Dealler Cassidy Deas, he died Dec. 29, 2004. Surviving are children, Doris Hartley, Lavon Harrin, Margie Cassan.

John Faulkner

LAURENS — Services with burial for John Calvin Faulkner, 80, 11 a.m. Saturday at New Prospect Baptist Church with military honors; visitation 7-8:30 tonight at Kennedy Mortuary. Born in Waterloo to William and Maggie Bostic Faulkner, he died Dec. 29, 2004. Surviving: wife, Frances P. Faulkner; daughters, Dianne Windsor, Judge Debora Faulkner; sisters, Mattie Parker, Selma Chumley, Jean Stephens.

Dolores Giammatteo

CAMDEN — Services for Dolores Lawson Giammatteo, 66, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (viewing 10 a.m.) at Gaines Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Brown’s Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Coleman Sr. and Iva Jones Lawson, she died December 25, 2004. Surviving are her mother; brother, Coleman Lawson Jr.; other relatives.

Gedell Fryar

RUFFIN — Services for Gedell Readdy Fryar, 84, widow of Lloyd Fryar, are 2 p.m. Saturday at Sykes Savannah UMC; burial in Westview Memorial Gardens. Hamilton’s Funeral Home, Walterboro, is in charge. Born in Colleton Co. to Paul and Edna Burgess Readdy, she died December 28, 2004. Surviving are children, David Fryar, Edna Stevens, Rosa Williams, Carolyn Brown; sister, Alma Stephens.

Gerald Holthaus

HOPKINS — Funeral Services for Mr. Gerald Henry Holthaus, 62, of Hopkins will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2004, at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Elon Baptist Church Building Fund, Hopkins, SC. Condolences may be sent to www.mem.com. Greenlawn Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Holthaus died December 28, 2004. Born in Aviston, Ill., he was the son of Victoria Munie Holthaus and the late Victor Holthaus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and attended Mt. Elon Baptist Church in Hopkins. Mr. Holthaus was predeceased by a brother, Jim Holthaus.

Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 21 years, Loretta Dianne G. Holthaus of the home; daughters, Leanne Northcutt and her husband Chris and Pamela G. Weaver and her husband Bruce; sons, Samuel H. Holthaus, Jerry Holthaus, Jason Germain and his wife Dawn, and Ward Dunn and his wife Allyson; sisters, Margie Heying and her husband Larry, Joan Andrews and her husband Al, Anita Dee, and Paulett Andrews; brothers, Tommy Holthaus, Tim Holthaus and his wife Donna, Greg Holthaus and his wife Paula, Dwayne Holthaus and his wife Judy, and Leonard Holthaus and his wife Deborah; 5 grandchildren, Kaliegh, Hannah, Julie, and Chad Ryan Holthaus and Aaron Miller.

Lois Kemmerlin

ST. MATTHEWS — Lois O’Cain Kemmerlin, 87, died Thursday evening, December 29, 2004, at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 1 at Faith Baptist Church, St. Matthews. Dukes-Harley Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. Kemmerlin was born in Orangeburg County a daughter of the late Hubert Watson and Nellie Zeigler O’Cain. For twenty-five years she was an insurance agent for Southland Life. Following, she was the manager for Tilly Martin Texaco in Santee, SC, for twenty-five years. Mrs. Kemmerlin also worked for St. Matthews Telephone Company as an operator for twenty-two years. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Kemmerlin was the widow of Archie Lewis Kemmerlin, Sr.

Survivors: Son, Archie L. Kemmerlin, Jr., Woodland, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Doris Kemmerlin; two sisters, Mrs. Edna O. Ballard, Elloree, Mrs. Mary O. Myers, Columbia; five grandchildren, Carol Pittman, Archie L. Kemmerlin, III, Candice O. Kemmerlin, Kelly Kemmerlin, Kerri Gay; 11 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to: Faith Baptist Church, c/o Rev. Ernest Medlin, 7618 Columbia Road, St. Matthews, SC 29135 or the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.

Elizabeth Longshore

KINARDS — Elizabeth Cunningham Longshore, 70, of 5238 Crowder Road, Kinards, wife of J.R. Longshore, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Summit Place in Simpsonville.

Mrs. Longshore was born on Oct. 18, 1934, in Laurens County, a daughter of the late J. Harold and Betty Lou Davenport Cunningham. She worked with her husband and sons at J.R. Longshore and Sons Land Clearing. She was a member of Bush River Baptist Church where she was a member of the church choir.

Mrs. Longshore is survived by her husband of the home; a daughter, Joan Longshore Waldrop of Kinards; two sons James Robert Longshore, Jr. and Harold Michael “Mike” Longshore, both of Kinards; two sisters, Ann Cunningham Holsonback of Cayce and Ruth Cunningham Clewis of Rockhill; four brothers, Freddie Cunningham of Clinton, Harold Cunningham of Simpsonville, Terry Cunningham of Kinards, and Frank Cunningham of Newberry; and four grandchildren, Brenda McCracken, Brandy Cutshall, Danielle Waldrop, and Courtney Longshore. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Cunningham.

Funeral services for Elizabeth Cunningham Longshore will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Bush River Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home and will be at the residence, 5238 Crowder Road.

Memorials may be made to Bush River Baptist Church, c/o Mr. John E. Smith, 3903 Bush River Road, Kinards SC 29355.

C. Wayne Lockhart

KINGSTREE — Mr. C. Wayne Lockhart, 59, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, in a Charleston hospital.

Mr. Lockhart was born in Oklahoma on August 22, 1945, a son of Dorthy Parnell Lockhart and Carl Alexander Lockhart. He was a graduate of University of South Carolina and was a supervisor at Farmers Telephone Cooperative. Mr. Lockhart was an Air Force Veteran and a volunteer baseball and softball coach for Williamsburg County and Williamsburg Academy. He was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon.

Survivors: wife, Nick Burrows Lockhart; 3 daughters, Starr Lockhart Carr and husband Patrick of Mt. Pleasant, Sheila Lockhart Snead and husband Patrick of Asheville, NC, and Jennifer Lockhart of Charleston; 2 brothers, William A. (Bill) Collins of Greenwood and Ted Lockhart of Kingstree; 1 grandson, William (Will) O.P. Snead IV and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the graveside at Kingstree Memorial Gardens directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home. The family requests that memorials be made to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church.

Michael Ratterree

RICHBURG — A graveside service for Michael D. Ratterree, 47, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lando Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at Barron Funeral Home, Chester. Born in Chester Co. to Willis and Janie Thorpe Ratterree, he died December 29, 2004. He was a diesel mechanic and a graduate of Lewisville High School. Surviving are mother; brothers, Tim Ratterree, Ted Ratterree.
