Margaret Smith

HARTSVILLE - Mrs. Margaret Stuckey Smith, 89, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998.

Burial was at Magnolia cemetery.

Born in Bishopville, Mrs. Smith graduated from Queens College, taught school in Lee County and at Hartsville High School, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma teachers sorority. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Before moving to Rock Hill in 1989, she was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she taught the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class for 30 years. She was a former president of the United Methodist Women, a circle leader and a member of the Altar Guild. She was a charter member of the Pine and Lake Garden Club. She was the widow of James A. Smith.

Surviving are her daughter, Suzanne Smith of Rock Hill; her brother, Thurston Stuckey of Hartsville; and her grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Wesley United Church in Hartsville or St. John's United Methodist Church in Rock Hill.

Marion King

WHITMIRE - Mr. Marion Fletcher King, 83, of 97 Suber Town Road died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at Oakmont Nursing Home in Union.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Whitmire United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Boyce Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Whitmire Cemetery.

Mr. King was born in Whitmire and was a retired employee of the J.P. Stevens Co., Whitmire Plant. He was also a member and past master of Roseboro Lodge No. 195 and a member and song leader of Whitmire United Methodist Church, the Men's Bible Class and the Friendship Club.

Surviving are his wife, Sara Stone H. King; two sons, Donald Huneycutt of Morehead City, N.C., and Robert M. King of Rock Hill; his sister, Elizabeth Reed of Greenwood; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Whitmire United Methodist Church, Church Street, Whitmire, SC 29178.

Alma Gregory

CHESTER - Mrs. Alma Varnadore Gregory, 70, of 163 Saluda St. died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church, with the Rev. Reggie Parker officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Baptist Church cemetery.

Born in Chester County, Mrs. Gregory was a retired bookkeeper from Hare Clothiers and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Chester High School, and was the widow of B.H. Gregory Jr.

Surviving are her son, Edward H. "Eddie" Gregory of Lancaster; her daughter, Rebecca Gregory "Becky" Thompson of Chester; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Mildred Goins

LANCASTER - Mrs. Mildred Chapman Goins, 82, of Lancaster Convalescent Center died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Greenlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Frank Lybrand officiating.

Born in Columbia, Mrs. Goins was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She attended Great Falls schools, and was the widow of James J. Goins.

Surviving are her son, Lester Goins of Lancaster; her daughter, Barbara Williams of Great Falls; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Corrie Killingsworth

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Corrie Proctor Killingsworth, 75, of 1497 Falls Road died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Grandview Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Tim McClendon and Linda Dunn officiating.

Born in York County, Mrs. Killingsworth was a lifelong member of St. John's UMC. She was a teacher at Ebinport Elementary School and co-owner of the Bridal House. See was a 50-year member of Beta Sigma Phi, and graduated from Winthrop College in 1943 with a degree in education. She was also active in the 30th Infantry Division Auxiliary (Old Hickory). She was the widow of William M. Killingsworth.

Surviving are her daughter, Susan Killingsworth of Rock Hill; and her sister, Eloise "Bee" Bullard of River Hills.

The family will receive friends after the service at St. John's Family Life Center and at other times at the home, 1497 Falls Road.

Memorials may be made to St. John's UMC, 321 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260.

Annie Funderburk

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Annie Bell Moon Funderburk, 87, of 322 N. Confederate Ave. died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Philip Bostrom officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Born in Greer, Mrs. Funderburk was retired from Aragon Mills and was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Edgar D. Funderburk Sr.

Surviving are two sons, Fred Funderburk and Jack Funderburk, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Margaret Harrell of Warsaw, N.C., and Betty Baskin of Rock Hill; two sisters, Flo Adams of York and Bobbie Jean Grant of Chester; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Jack and Carol Jean Funderburk, 139 Long St.

Elva Timmons

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Elva Phillips Rimer Timmons, 71, of 59 Walnut St. died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Revs. Larry Roberts, C.O. Belk Jr. and Tommy Cribb officiating. Burial, with Eastern Star Rites, will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Born in Chester, Mrs. Timmons was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and was a graduate of Great Falls High School. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 211. She was a retired bus driver with Chester County schools, and was the widow of Clyde R. Timmons.

Surviving are two sons, David N. Rimer of Batesburg and Charles E. Timmons Sr. of Great Falls; two daughters, Laurie T. Franklin and Rena E. Timmons, both of Great Falls; her brother, Thomas E. Phillips of Charleston; her sister, Mary J. Yeager of Baltimore; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Mount Zion Baptist Church, Rt. 1, Box 1058, Great Falls, SC 29055 or to the charity of one's choice.

Addie White

CHESTER, Pa. - Mrs. Addie Mae Sanders White, 52, of 1218 Engle St., formerly of Chester, S.C., died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at Crozier Chester Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Brown's Chapel AME Zion Church in Chester, S.C., with the Rev. O.L. Smith officiating, assisted by the Revs. McKinley Woods, Bobby Featherstone and George Lowry. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. White was a member of Brown's Chapel AME Zion Church, attended Chester County public schools and was a former employee Shellville Services.

Surviving are her husband, Thaddeus White Sr. of Chester, Pa; two sons, Rodney White and Thaddeus White Jr., both of Chester, Pa.; three daughters, Deborah White of McConnells, Julia White of Chester, S.C., and Lisa White of Chester, Pa.; four brothers, Lowell Sanders Jr., Bennie R. Sanders, John Robert Sanders, and Jerry Hall, all of Chester, S.C.; three sisters, Janie Hope of Chester, S.C., and Pearl Sanders and Alberta Rambert, both of Chester, Pa; 11 grandchildren; and one granddaughter reared in the home, Chenita Davis of Chester, Pa.

The family will receive friends at the home of Julia White, 143 Walnut St., Apt 1, Chester, S.C.

The body will be carried to the church at 2 p.m. Thursday.

FORT MILL - Mrs. Clara Christine Brewer Pettus, 81, of 10925 Pettus Farm Road died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Glen Rock Baptist Church, with the Revs. Gene Flack and Bill Quartrone officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born in Texas, Mrs. Pettus was a member of Glen Rock Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, William Pettus of Fort Mill; three sons, Larry Pettus of Parkersburg, W.Va., Jimmy Pettus of York and Chris Pettus of Rock Hill; two daughters, Janice Freeman of Fort Mill and Donna Faris of York; two sisters, Vergie Sadler of Dodge City, Texas, and Evelyn Crosby of Paris, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of William Pettus, 10925 Pettus Farm Road, Fort Mill.

Samuel Miller

ROCK HILL - Mr. Samuel Lewis Miller, 47, of 454 Trade Street Alley, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at his home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at China Grove AME Zion Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Johnny Worthy officiating.

Mr. Miller was retired from the city of Rock Hill sanitation department and was a member of China Grove AME Zion Church. He attended York County public schools.

Surviving are two brothers, Thomas James Miller Jr. and Robert Louis Miller, both of Charlotte; and three sisters, Lillie Mae Anderson, Bernice Hemphill and Barbara Jean Howard, all of Rock Hill.

Sadie Snipes

LANCASTER - Mrs. Sadie Dunn Snipes, 93, of 1009 Greenoak Road died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Revs. Shane Patrick and Roy Barnes and Mr. Bill Murray officiating.

Born in Lancaster, Mrs. Snipes was a member of the Church of Christ and was retired from Springs Industries. She was the widow of Henry Alton Snipes.

Surviving are two sons, Grady H. Snipes of Lancaster and Lawrence Snipes of Chester; her daughter, Lillian Seifarth of Lancaster; two sisters, Louise D. Frye and Daisy Adams, both of Mesquite, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Snipes, 503 Hilltop Lane, Lancaster.

Alma Collins

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Alma Pressley Collins, 82, of Prince George Village, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bel Air United Methodist Church Cemetery in Indian Land, with the Rev. Tommy Hope officiating.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Collins was a member of First Baptist Church in McConnells, where she was a pianist for many years. She graduated from Wingate College and taught at Pleasant Valley Schools in Lancaster County for 18 years. She was active in the Woman's Missionary Union, and was the widow of John Willis Collins.

Surviving are her son, John "Larry" Collins of Myrtle Beach; her grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of McConnells, P.O. Box 5, McConnells, SC 29726.
