Clinzo Anthony

ROCK HILL - Mr. Clinzo Anthony of 1107 Glenarden Drive died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at C.M. Tucker's Nursing Center in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Crossroad Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. J.E. Boulware officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Anthony attended Rock Hill public schools and Crossroad Baptist Church. He also worked for the Housing Authority in Columbia.

Surviving are his wife, Rachel Jeter Anthony of Rock Hill; three sons, Michael Anthony and Clinzo Anthony Jr., both of Rock Hill, and William Jeter of Atlanta; seven daughters, Mary Joe Austin, Helen Jeter, Patricia Anthony, Brenda Anthony, Frankie Anthony and Angela Anthony, all of Rock Hill, and Janice Anthony of New York City; two brothers, Savern Anthony of New York City and Maurice Anthony of Charlotte; 26 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 Saturday night at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Carl Boatwright

FORT MILL - Mr. Carl David Boatwright, 77, of 115 Elm St. died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Born in Marvin County, N.C., Mr. Boatwright retired from Springs Industries and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Kee Boatwright; three sons, David W. Boatwright of Catawba, Kevin Wayne Boatwright and Carl Brian Boatwright, both of Fort Mill; three daughters, Linda Kay Hall, Martha Jean Kimbrell, and Debra B. Fields, all of Fort Mill; two brothers, Cecil C. Boatwright and Wayland D. Boatwright, both of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Martha Kimbrell, 1938 Vista Road, Fort Mill.

Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church elevator fund, 1232 Curtis St., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to the Disabled American Veterans, 2017 Bay St., Charlotte, NC 28205.

Ruby Gibson

CLOVER - Mrs. Ruby Mae Cauthen Gibson, 66, of 7110 Jolly Road in Conway died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. T.D. Austin officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Born in Cabarrus County, N.C., Mrs. Gibson was formerly of Clover and was the widow of Paul Howard Gibson Sr.

Surviving are two sons, Leonard Gibson of Conway and Paul Howard Gibson Jr. of Bowling Green; two daughters, Nancy Hodge of Clover and Patricia Gibson of Myrtle Beach; her mother, Annie Mae Shue Cauthen of Kannapolis, N.C.; four brothers, Danny Cauthen, Ronnie Cauthen, Bill Cauthen, and Bobby Cauthen, all of Concord, N.C.; two sisters, Mildred Allman of Landis, N.C., and Margie Daughtry of Mount Pleasant; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Clover.

Malcolm Hardin

CHESTER - Mr. Malcolm McCorkle Hardin, 90, of 138 Wylie St. died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Will Brown, Dr. George Fitzgerald and Dr. Allen Derrick officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Born in Chester County, Mr. Hardin was a funeral director with Barron Funeral Home for more than 50 years. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative board and as assistant Sunday school superintendent.

He served on the Chester City Council for 14 years, was a member of the Chester Rotary Club and attended Chester County schools.

Surviving is his nephew.

Christine Pettus

FORT MILL - Mrs. Clara Christine Brewer Pettus, 81, of 10925 Pettus Farm Road died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Glen Rock Baptist Church, with the Revs. Gene Flack and Bill Quartrone officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born in Texas, Mrs. Pettus was a member of Glen Rock Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, William Pettus of Fort Mill; three sons, Larry Pettus of Parkersburg, W.Va., Jimmy Pettus of York and Chris Pettus of Rock Hill; two daughters, Janice Freeman of Fort Mill and Donna Faris of York; two sisters, Vergie Sadler of Dodge City, Texas, and Evelyn Crosby of Paris, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of William Pettus, 10925 Pettus Farm Road, Fort Mill.

Cortez Poole

KERSHAW - Mr. Cortez Tillison Poole Jr., 53, of 533 Capri Drive in Hartwell, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 1998, at Hartwell Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bryant D. Fersner Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Mr. Poole was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and was a retired salesman for Coates North America.

Surviving are his wife, Madelyn Denice Poole; his daughter, Virginia Corinne "Ginger" Poole of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and his mother, Addie Mae Poole of Kershaw.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Addie Poole, 610 Woodland Drive.

Sarah Rawls

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Sarah B. Rawls, 68, of 1969 Ebenezer Road died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Born in Spartanburg, Mrs. Rawls was the widow of Dolph S. Rawls Jr. and was retired from The Oratory after 25 years of employment. She was a member of Park Baptist Church, where she was active in the Woman's Missionary Union and various circles. She was a pink lady at Piedmont Medical Center.

Surviving are her son, Buddy Rawls of Rock Hill; two daughters, Sandra Nies and Judy Anderson, both of Rock Hill; her brother, Bill Burch of Chester; two sisters, Virginia Mull and Ann Graham, both of Chester; seven grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Judy R. Anderson, 852 Lombardy Road.

Georgia Robinson

CHESTER - Mrs. Georgia Daniell Robinson, 67, of 109 Sunset Drive died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Purity Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Joe Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Born in Columbia, she was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church, where she was president of the Women of the Church and on several committees. She was a member of Purity for many years.

She attended Winthrop Training School and was a 1949 graduate of Winthrop College with a degree in chemistry.

She was a past president of the Garden Club of South Carolina and was a member and officer of the National Garden Club. She was a National Council of Garden Clubs judge and a member of the Marie C. Adams Garden Club and the Friday Gardeners. She was active in many local clubs and activities, such as art and science, and the Violet Sunshine Club. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, James M. Robinson of Chester; her son, Robert M. Robinson of Rock Hill; her daughter, Elizabeth R. Mayes of Boone, N.C.; and three granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the home.

Margaret Whisonant

MOBILE, Ala. - Mrs. Margaret B. Whisonant, formerly of Rock Hill, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998, at her home.

Burial was at Pine Crest West Cemetery in Mobile.

She was a graduate of Winthrop College and taught for 23 years in the Mobile County school system. She was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church, and was UMW president for two years.

Surviving are her husband, Clarence Whisonant; her son, Chuck Whisonant of Mobile.; two daughters, Beth Stafford-Green of Mobile and Shay Sanford of Columbia; and her brother, J.W. Brown, Jr. of Asheville, N.C.

Memorials may be made to the Inner City Mission, 913 South Broad St., Mobile, AL 36603.

Pearl Cauthen

LANCASTER - Mrs. Pearl McMurry Cauthen, 95, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Revs. Kenneth Snead and W. Harold Owens officiating.

Born in Heath Springs, Mrs. Cauthen was the widow of Walter Cauthen. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was a seamstress and a homemaker.

Surviving are two sons, Cleatus W. Cauthen of Hixon, Tenn., and William J. "Bill" Cauthen of Nicholson, Ga.; two daughters, Louise Powell and Margie Rodgers, both of Lancaster; her sister, Evelyn Gaynor of Lancaster; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sager Powell, 2316 Airport Road, Lancaster.

James Dunlap

DETROIT - Mr. James Daniel "J.D." Dunlap, 52, of 1120 Constitution Blvd. died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998 at his home in Detroit, Mich.

The funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Woods officiating. Willie G. Boulware and the Rev. Jimmy Thompson will assist. Burial will be in Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Dunlap attended Emmett Scott High School and Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Danny Dunlap of Washington, D.C., and Gerald Dunlap and James Dunlap, both of Detroit; his daughter, Nicole Dunlap of Detroit; his mother, Ella Long of Rock Hill; six brothers, William Long of Detroit, Carl Long of Kinston, N.C., Robert Brice of Las Vegas, and Charles Dunlap, Bobby Long, and David Long, all of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service Saturday at the church and other times at 955 Albert St. The body will be placed in the church at noon Saturday.

Parker Funeral Home is in charge.
