Mildred Green

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mildred Pope Green, 83, of 318 N. Confederate Ave. died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, her home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Wooten officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Green was a member of Garden Sanctuary Church of God and was a homemaker for most of her life.

Surviving are two sons, Joe A. Green of Richmond and Mack Green of Anderson; her daughter, Lillie Gentry of Rock Hill; her brother, Curtis Pope of Rock Hill; her sister, Janie Sexton of Rock Hill; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Lillie Gentry, 1334 Deas St., Rock Hill.

Thelma Griffith

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Thelma Gardner Griffith, 84, of 517 Neely Store Road died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, in Greenville.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Catawba Baptist Church, with Dr. Tommy Huddleston officiating. Burial will be at Catawba Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Saluda, Mrs. Griffith was a member of Catawba Baptist Church and was active in Catawba Cheers. She worked at Carolina Community Action and was a retired nutritionist with the Rock Hill Senior Center. She was the widow of G. Earl Griffith.

Surviving are four sons, Henry Griffith of Rock Hill, Frank Griffith and David Griffith, both of Greenville, and John Griffith of Pelzer; two brothers, Jack Gardner and Gwynn Gardner, both of Saluda; two sisters, Margaret McGowan of Clinton and Emily Sprouse of Leesville; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.

Memorials made to be made to Jeanette Walker's Sunday school class, c/o Catawba Baptist Church, 2639 Catawba Church Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Georgie Robinson

CHESTER - Mrs. Georgie Daniell Robinson, 67, of 109 Sunset Drive died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Purity Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Joe Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Born in Columbia, Mrs. Robinson was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church, where she was president of the Women of the Church and was on several committees. She was a member of Purity for many years.

She attended Winthrop Training School and was a 1949 graduate of Winthrop College with a degree in chemistry.

She was a past president of the Garden Club of South Carolina, and she was a member and officer of the National Garden Club. She was a National Council of Garden Clubs judge and a member of the Marie C. Adams Garden Club and the Friday Gardeners. She was active in many local clubs and activities, such as art and science, and the Violet Sunshine Club. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, James M. Robinson of Chester; her son, Robert M. Robinson of Rock Hill; her daughter, Elizabeth R. Mayes of Boone, N.C.; and three granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to Purity Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 278, Chester, SC 29706.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge.

Katie Todd

LANCASTER - Mrs. Katie Lee Deese Todd, 92, of 947 17th St. died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gilbert Rowell and Dr. Roy Beckham officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Born in Lancaster County, Mrs. Todd was the widow of Paul Presley Todd. She was a graduate of Wingate College and was a retired employee of Springs Industries. She had taught fourth and fifth grade at Buford Elementary School. She was a member of First ARP Church, where she was active in The Women of the Church, Senior Group and the Ladies Bible class.

Surviving are her son, Daniel A. Todd of Lancaster; her daughter, Betty Arant of Lancaster; her sister, Mabel T. Duncan of Lancaster; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Andy Coleman

CHESTER - Mr. Andy Coleman, 92, of 163 Harris St. died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral services are 4:30 p.m. today at Black Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. L.L. Robertson officiating. The Revs. W.E. Page and James Wilson will assist. Burial will be at Black Rock Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Coleman was a retired construction worker, a member of Friendship Baptist Church and member of the AP&B Society.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine Stokes Coleman; two sons, Rickie L. Coleman and Timothy Lightner, both of Chester; his daughter, Lula McCray of Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home. The body will lie in state at 4 p.m. today at the church.

Denton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Harris

RALEIGH - Mr. Robert G. Harris of 619 Peyton Street, Apt. 1 died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998.

The funeral services will be 12 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Surviving are his daughter, Charmaine Crockett of Winston-Salem, N.C.; six sisters, Thelma Y. Edwards of Baltimore, Mary Bell Bellamay of New York, Elizabeth Thompson of Charlotte, Viola Dobbins of Orange, N.J., and Mary Frances Williams and Helen Harris, both of York; three brothers, Willie James Harris of Baltimore, Golden Harris of Mt. Rainey, Md., and Henry Harris of Charlotte; four grandchildren; three stepchildren; and two foster children.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12 p.m. Monday at the church.

Mozell Kendrick

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mozell Nance Kendrick, 77, of 82 Reynolds St. died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Cedar Grove Methodist Church, with the Rev. G.G. Johnson officiating and Sister Diane Wells and Brother Stanley Wells assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Kendrick was a member of Cedar Grove Methodist Church, and attended public schools in York County.

Surviving are her husband, John Kendrick of Rock Hill; two daughters, Janie Barber of Rock Hill and Bernice Cunningham of Rock Hill; five sons, John Kendrick, Horace Kendrick, Robert Kendrick, Andrew Kendrick, and Rudolph Kendrick, all of Rock Hill; three sisters, Janet LaGrande of Deer Park, N.Y., Maggie Wilson of Baltimore, Md., and Bertha Ward of Rock Hill; and her brother, Andrew Nance of Baltimore, Md.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Monday.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clarence Lever

ROCK HILL - Mr. Clarence Everette Lever, 80, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998 at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. E. Ray Mohrmann officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lexington.

Mr. Level was a retired driver with the S.C. Electric and Gas Company in Columbia, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Katheryn Duckworth Lever.

He was a member of the Frank Roach American Legion Post 34, VFW Post 2889 in Rock Hill and was a former member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lexington.

Surviving are two daughters, Elaine Lever of Charlotte and Barbara Lever of Columbia; his stepson, Edward O'Neil Smith of Springdale; his brother, Bryce Lever of Lexington; and his grandson.

The family will receive friends following the service Sunday and following the graveside service Monday and at other times at the home of Frank Duckworth, 120 Reid St., Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Carolinas Chapter, 944-C Southern Pines Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28273.

Harry Losson

YORK - Mr. Harry Mantle Losson, 75, of 12 Lynwood Circle died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be private.

Born in Kentucky, Mr. Losson was the former owner and operator of the Tastee-Freez Restaurant in York. He was a U.S. Navy lieutenant during World War II and was an aviator and flight instructor. He served in the Pacific Theater, participated in the Philippine Liberation and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Five Star Air Medal.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Cahill Piehl Losson; two sons, H. Mantle Losson and F. Taylor Losson; two daughters, Melissa Losson and Melanie Loson Chandler; and his sister, Betty Hartlage of Destin, Fla.

York Funeral Home is in charge.

Virginia Love

MCCONNELLS - Mrs. Virginia Kennon Love, 70, of 3421 Chester Highway died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998 at her home.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Great Joy Baptist Church, with the Rev. George Lowry officiating. Burial will be in Monday Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Cemetery in McConnells.

Born in McConnells, Mrs. Love was a member of the Mt. Dowell Baptist Church and was a housewife.

Surviving are her husband, William Columbus Love of the home; five sons, William T. Love, Robert K. Love, and Eddie Jones, all of McConnells, Glenn R. Love of Rock Hill, and Steve A. Love of York; five daughters, Judith A. Douglas of Upper Marlboro, Md., Jogarty L. Chisolm of Rock Hill, and Johnnie Jackson, Betty Freeman and Peggy Orr, all of McConnells; her sister, Bessie Love of Gastonia, N.C.; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Wright Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Monday.

Sheree McCreary

ROCK HILL - Miss Sheree McCreary, 19, 1017-H Glenarden Apts. died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be noon Monday at Little Bethel Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Albert Mickles officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of York County, Miss McCreary worked at the Holiday Inn Express in Pineville, N.C. She attended Little Bethel Baptist Church and Rock Hill High School.

Surviving are her son, Ty'Sheen Lavaris McCreary; her parents, Deborah McCreary of Rock Hill and Willie Young of Lewisville; a stepfather, James Evans of Rock Hill; her brother, Terrance McCreary of Rock Hill; her sister, Andrina McCreary of Rock Hill; and maternal grandparents, Mabel and Robert Baxter of Rock Hill.

The body can be viewed from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Monday.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mazel Pope

CONOVER, N.C. - Mrs. Mazel Setzer Pope, 93, of Conover, N.C., formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday Feb. 12, 1998.

The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Drum Funeral Home in Conover. Burial will be at Hickory Memorial Gardens.

She was the widow of Fletcher E. Pope.

Surviving are her sister, Jeanette Shugart of Rock Hill; two sons, Gerald Pope and Elvin Pope, both of Conover; her daughter, Mazel Irene Fowler, of Conover; and a number of grandchildren.

Drum Funeral Home of Conover is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
