Lonnie Gallman Sr.

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Lonnie W. Gallman Sr., 74, of 5543 Golf Course Road died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Roberts officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at the church cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Gallman was a son of the late Charlie W. Gallman and Rebecca Black Gallman. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. He was a retired mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He was educated in the Great Falls schools. Mr. Gallman was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Great Falls Masonic Lodge No. 277 and was a Shriner.

Surviving are his wife, Vivian Jones Gallman; his daughter, Phyllis G. Jacobs of Great Falls; two sons, Lonnie Gallman and Steve Gallman, both of Great Falls; his brother, Cedric M. Gallman of Surfside Beach; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Mount Zion Baptist Church, 6964 Wateree Road, Great Falls, SC 29055 or Hospice of Lancaster, 800 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Edward Mosley

LANCASTER - Mr. Edward Michael Mosley, 19, of 1600 Logo St. died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Thomas B. Wilkes III officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Mosley was employed at BiLo.

Surviving are his father, Kenneth Scott Mosley of Richburg; his mother and stepfather, Ken and Terry Whitley of Lancaster; his sister, Amanda Lorraine Mosley of Lancaster; his grandparents, Edward Floyd and Lorraine Hall of Lancaster and David Cauthen of Kershaw.

Cauthen Funeral Home was in charge.

Clyde Stein

LANCASTER - Mr. Clyde Stein, 53, of 2132 Great Falls Highway died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Pageland, with the Rev. Thomas Self officiating.

A native of Chesterfield County, Mr. Stein was a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Stein and Lillie Wright Stein. He was an auto mechanic.

Surviving are three brothers, Carson Steen, Dewey Stein and Howard Steen, all of Lancaster; and two sisters, Shirley Matthews and Judy Steen, both of Lancaster.

Mahaffey Funeral Home was in charge.

David Hoffman

SHARON - Mr. David J. Hoffman, 87, of 3915 Shillinglaw Road died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. James McGill officiating and the Rev. Dr. Clyde Mitchum assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Edgemoor, Mr. Hoffman was a son of the late John Hoffman and Mary Capps Hoffman. He was the widower of Irene Hope Hoffman. Mr. Hoffman was the retired postmaster of Sharon. He was a member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, where he was past church treasurer, Sunday school superintendent and elder. He was past Scout Master of Troop 137 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars-Walt Blackmon Chapter in Hickory Grove.

Surviving are his son, Mike Hoffman of Sharon; his daughter, Lynda Hoffman Rogers of Gaffney; and his sister, Lona Hoffman Carter of Leslie; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be made to Woodlawn Presbyterian Church Memorial Association, 3852 Woodlawn St., Sharon, SC 29742.

Hornsby Holmes Sr.

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Hornsby Holmes Sr. died Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, with Pastor Z.B. Wells officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

A native of Fairfield County, Mr. Hornsby was the son of the late Laura Maloney and Willie James Holmes. He joined Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age.

Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Livisay of Milton, Ohio; Jennifer Holmes Patterson of New Jersey; and Laura Maloney of Great Falls; four sisters, Betty Relford of Chicago; Lottie Cloud of Ft. Lawn; Sallie Caldwell of Great Falls; and Doris Holmes of Rock Hill; five brothers, James Lee Holmes, Raymond Holmes and Dan Holmes of Great Falls; John Lewis Holmes of Rock Hill; and Walter Holmes of Ridgeway; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester. Family will receive friends from the home at 83 N. Dearborn St., Great Falls.

The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Charles Belton

YORK - Mr. Charles Odell Belton, 57, of 506 California Circle died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be noon Saturday at Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. L.L. Robertson officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Belton was assistant golf manager at Spring Lake Country Club. He attended Mount Hebron Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Johnnie Mae Belton; four sons, Anthony Belton of Charlotte, Ray Lowery of York, Christopher Belton and Bobby Lee Jones, both of Rock Hill; his daughter, Sandra Belton of York; his mother, Janie Barnette of Rock Hill; seven brothers, Sam Barnette, Robert Barnette, Larry Barnette, Melvin Barnette, Tommy Barnette, Daniel Barnette, and Freddy Barnette, all of Rock Hill; his sister, Catherine Barnette of Rock Hill; and 13 grandchildren including Delvey Belton, whom he reared.

The family will receive friends at home and at the home of Janie Barnette, 1655 Memorial Drive, Rock Hill.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Rhonda Dover

KERSHAW - Miss Rhonda Lynn Dover, 36, of 8896 Old Jefferson Highway died Tuesday, June 29, 1999.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jimmy Atkerson officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Camden.

A native of Great Falls, Miss Dover was a member of First Baptist Church and was employed by Springs Industries.

Surviving are her father, Robert Lee Dover Sr. of Delaware; her mother and stepfather, Michael Dale and Mary Frances "Fran" Pruitt Hinson of Kershaw; two brothers, Saied "Bo" Dover of Lancaster and Christopher Dover of Kershaw; her sister, Holly Dover of Beverly Hills, Calif.; her paternal grandmother, Mrs.Buford Greene of Delaware; her maternal grandmother, Viola Baker of Great Falls; paternal step grandparents, Lewis and Myrtle Hinson of Kershaw.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hinson, 8896 Old Jefferson Highway, Kershaw.

Bertha Alexander

MCCONNELLS - Ms. Bertha Mae Alexander, 61, of 5392 Chester Highway died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Baptist Church in Lowrys, with the Rev. Bobby Featherstone officiating and the Revs. Joe Lee and George Lowery assisiting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Ms. Alexander was a daughter of the late Wadell Alexander and Lula McConnell Alexander. She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church and the AP&B Society No. 8. A homemaker, she attended the public schools of Chester County.

Surviving are three sons, Elbert Alexander, Kenneth B. Alexander and Dennis J. Alexander, all of McConnells; two daughters, Perlester A. McNeal of Rock Hill and Regina Alexander of McConnells; two nephews whom she raised, Ronnie D. Alexander of McConnells and Ronnie A. Hughes of York; her niece whom she raised, LaShawn Hughes Thompson of York; three brothers, Jerry W. Alexander and Frazier Alexander, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Drayton Harris of Elizabeth, N.J.; her sister, Lula Mae Crank of Chester; 10 grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

The body may be viewed from noon to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Friday.

Daisy Chou

LOS ANGELES - Mrs. Daisy Kuo Chou, 90, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill, with the Rev. William Fox officiating.

A native of China, Mrs. Chou was a school teacher in Hong Kong.

She and her husband, the late Harold Chou, moved to the United States in 1968. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill. She was a member of the Chinese Faith Church in Los Angeles.

Surviving are her son, Henry Chou of Aiken; two daughters, Katherine Huang of Bowie, Md. and Caroline Hui of Rock Hill; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

Thomas Dean Jr.

CASTLE HAYNE, N.C. - Chaplain Thomas Luther "Tommy" Dean Jr. of Castle Hayne died Tuesday, June, 29, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel. Burial will be in the Nelson Family Cemetery in Leland, N.C.

A native of Anderson County, Mr. Dean was the widower of Hazel White Dean. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Seagate Chapel. Mr. Dean was a chaplain and founder of New Life Prison Ministries and ministered for more than 21 years in prisons around the southeast.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.

Memorials may be made to New Life Prison Ministries, 118 Green Forest Drive, Wilmington, NC 28409.

Jack Adams

LANCASTER - Mr. Jack L. Adams, 74, of 1325 Washington St. died Thursday, July 1, 1999, in Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with the Revs. Bill Parker and Tony Adams officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Adams was a son of the late Tom Adams and Patsy Roberts Adams. He was the widower of Margaret Baker Adams. He was owner and operator of Jack's Upholstery, a member of Antioch Masonic Lodge, Hejaz Shrine Temple and Hyde Park Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Jerry L. Adams of Lancaster; two daughters, Jackie Reynolds and Brenda Grier, both of Lancaster; a sister, Jessie Mae Hunter of Chester; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Robert and Brenda Grier, 1325 Washington St., Lancaster.

Marjorie Azouri

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Marjorie Bruno Azouri, 84, of Magnolia Avenue died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at White Oak Manor in Columbia.

The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Great Falls, with the Rev. William Pentis and Deacon Jon Dwyer officiating. Burial will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Azouri was a daughter of the late Peter Bruno and Elizabeth Bruno. She was the widow of George Joseph Azouri. Mrs. Azouri was a charter member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. She and her late husband owned and operated the Great Falls Cleaners for many years. She was a graduate of Brooklyn Business College.

Surviving are two daughters, Dianne Leventis of Charlotte and Cheryl Long of Blackville; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church with the vigil service at 7:30 p.m.

Barbara Collins

BLACKSTOCK - Mrs. Barbara McMurray Collins, 63, of 3914 Mountain Gap Road, Blackstock, died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at her home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Tabernacle Ministries, with the Rev. Kenneth Compton officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Collins was a native of Chester County. She was a member of Tabernacle Ministries. She was formerly employed with Ebert's Sportswear. She attended Chester County schools.

Mrs. Collins was the daughter of the late Tom and Edna Mae Harris Moore.

Survivors include her sons, Bill McMurray and Jimmy McMurray, both of Great Falls, and Mike McMurray, of Chester; daughters Gloria Childers, of Lockhart, and JoAnn McMurray and Sherry McMurray, both of Blackstock, sister Erlene McMurray, of Blackstock; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.
