Mae Flowe

FORT MILL - Mrs. Mae Honeycutt Flowe, 101, of 3050 Vernon St. died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at Beverly Health Care in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Midland, N.C., with the Rev. Leland Stephens officiating. Burial will be at Clarks Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Stanley County, N.C., Mrs. Flowe is a daughter of the late Eli Tylinger Honeycutt and Ida Ann Little Honeycutt.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church in Mecklenburg County, N.C.

Mrs. Flowe is the widow of John Oates Flowe.

Surviving are her two sons, John Howard Flowe of Dallas, N.C., and James Worth Flowe of Charlotte; two daughters, Virginia F. Patterson of Fort Mill and Margaret F. Davis of Rock Hill; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Virginia F. Patterson, 3050 Vernon St. in Fort Mill.

Billy Hilton

LANCASTER - Mr. Billy Hilton, 59, of 1819 Lynwood Drive died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Michael Giles officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Hilton was a son of the late Varro Hilton and Clarice Neal Hilton. He was retired from General Motors and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Surviving are his son, Tim Hilton of Lancaster; and his sister, Annie Ruth Lambert of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Monday at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home, P.O. 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648.

Dorothy McCreedy

NEW YORK - Dorothy Carter McCreedy of West Long Beach, N.Y., died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bernett Funeral Home in Long Beach, N.Y.

McCreedy is the daughter of the late Eugenia Worthy.

Survivors include two daughters, Carrie Carter of Carlisle and Michelle McCreedy of Columbia; four sons, Ronnie Carter of Chester, Ambrose Carter of Charlotte and Michael McCreedy and Anthony McCreedy, both of Long Beach; three sisters, Margaret Land and Ruby Peak, both of Chester, and Betty Worthy of Charlotte; and four brothers, Toby Carter, Lasco Carter and Woes Carter, all of Gastonia, N.C., and Odell Worthy of Charlotte.

Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, is in charge of local arrangements.

Susie McKeown

CHARLOTTE - Miss Susie Norwood McKeown, 84, died Friday, July 2, 1999.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, with Dr. Shelton Sanford officiating.

Miss McKeown was a member of Sharon Road Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, where she taught Sunday school and supported the World Mission programs.

Miss McKeown was a founding member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill. Before moving to Charlotte, she graduated from Winthrop College and earned a master's degree from the University of Michigan.

She retired as head of the cataloging department at the Winthrop College library after 30 years of service.

She was the daughter of the late Addison A. and Gill Neely McKeown.

Survivors include five cousins, Anna Mayo McKeown of Spartanburg, Elizabeth M. Martin of Charleston, William M. McKeown of Glenn Springs, S. Kirk McKeown of Roebuck and Marianna McKeown of Columbia.

Memorials may be made to the Winthrop University Scholarship Fund, at the Alumni Relations Office, 701 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to Westminster Presbyterian Church World Mission Fund, 1330 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Calvin Sneed

LANCASTER - Mr. Calvin Sneed, 61, of 1928 Dolphin Road died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Douglas Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Gary Hayes and Curtis Cameron officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Union County, N.C., Mr. Sneed was a son of the late David Van Sneed and Mildred Autrey Sneed. He was retired from Springs Industries Elliot Plant in Fort Lawn and was a member of the Douglas Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Rorie Sneed; his son, Norris Preston Sneed of Kingsport, Tenn.; his stepmother, Annie Lou Sneed of Pageland; her brother, Michael David Sneed of Monroe, N.C.; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to The Gideon Memorial Bible, P.O. Box 1302, Lancaster, SC 29721.

Linda Stevens

LANCASTER - Mrs. Linda Stacks Stevens, 51, of 365 Rocky River Road died Friday, July 2, 1999.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Hendrix officiating.

Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Stevens is a daughter of Lillian S. Stacks and the late Tony Stacks. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church and retired from Springs Industries.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, L. Joe Stevens; her son, Larry "Buck" Stevens of Lancaster; two daughters, Angela Cox and Michelle Stevens, both of Lancaster; four sisters, Martha Hinson, Jeanette Ballard, Betty Stacks and Barbara Rollings, all of Lancaster; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, and at other times at the home,

Mary Thomas

CHESTER - Mrs. Mary B. Thomas, 81, of 510 Saluda Road died Thursday, July 1, 1999, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Church of the Nazarene, with the Revs. Ronnie Green and Gregg Keller officiating. Burial will be at Armenia United Methodist Church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Thomas attended the schools of Chester County. She was a homemaker and member of Second Baptist Church. She was the widow of Otho W. Thomas Sr.

Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Jessie Mae Huntington of Chester; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Jessie Mae Huntington, 510 Saluda Road in Chester.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 610 Calvary Church Road, Chester, SC 29706.

Edwin Wallace

COLUMBIA - Mr. Edwin J. Wallace, 78, of Columbia died Friday, July 2, 1999, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Main Street United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Michael C. Bell and Sandra Stevens-Poirel and Dr. Sandra Wardlaw officiating. Burial will be at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens.

A native of Grand Gorge, N.Y., Mr. Wallace was a son of the late Harry Jay Wallace and Avis Elizabeth Meeker Wallace Baker.

He was a veteran of World War II and a retired mechanic from Hancock Buick. He was also a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Willie Mae Cornwell Wallace; two sons, Harry Wallace of Hartsville and Eddie Wallace of Asheboro, N.C.; two daughters, Frances Powell of Columbia and Grace Pound of St. Matthews; his brother, Harry Wallace of New York; two sisters, Bertha Jane Wallace Grippin and Alice Wallace Harris, both of New York; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of cousins from the area.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Shives Funeral Home in Columbia.

Kenneth Auten

FORT MILL - Mr. Kenneth Eugene Auten, 72, of 204 Short Link St. died Saturday, July 3, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greene Funeral Service Southside Chapel with the Rev. Lynwood Lavinder officiating.

Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. Tuesday. Military Rites will be performed by the World War II Last Man's Club.

A native of Gaston County, N.C., Mr. Auten was educated in Cramerton schools. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving with Company E, 504th Parachute Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. Mr. Auten was an employee of U.S. Steel in Youngstown, Ohio, for 17 years.

Surviving are his companion, Maggie Collins of Fort Mill; two brothers, Thomas E. Auten of Gastonia, N.C., and Billy R. Auten of Miami, Fla.; and a sister, Mary Jo Smith of Gastonia, N.C.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Annie Carter

CHESTER - Mrs. Annie "Lou" Barnes Carter, 89, of 181 Jeter St. died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Chester County Nursing Center.

The funeral was Sunday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St. The Rev. Bill Stringfellow Jr. officiated. Burial was at Old Providence Cemetery.

Born in Chester County, Mrs. Carter was a daughter of the late Levi Barnes and Erus Wade Barnes. She was a member of the Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, the AP&B Society and she was a homemaker.

She was the widow of Steve Carter.

Surviving are her stepson, Jimmy Cornwell of Charlotte; three stepdaughters, Mary Alice Archie of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Gloria Woods and Jackie Lowery, both of Chester; eight step-grandchildren and her caretaker, Ella Rambert of Chester.

Marjorie White

YORK - Mrs. Marjorie Bryant White, 65, of 1757 Fairhope Road died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at her home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church in Sharon, with the Rev. Dr. James McGill officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. White was a homemaker. She was the widow of Sam White.

Surviving are a son, Eddie White of York; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.

Alton Boone

KERSHAW - Mr. Alton Joseph Boone, 79, of 1687-B Ellis Road died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Refuge Baptist Church, with the Revs. Clarence Dorman, Clarence Allen, Ed Stokes and Trent McLaughlin officiating. Burial will be at the Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Boone was a member of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. He was a retired construction supervisor.

He was the son of the late Wesley Jacob Boone and Blanche B. Boone.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Virginia Crout Boone; four daughters Felicia Miller of New Braunfels, Texas, and Audrey B. Waites, Candace Hanna and Denise Catoe, all of Kershaw; four brothers Ralph Boone of Camden, Marion Boone, Howard Boone and James Boone, all of Kershaw; his sister Thelma Moseley Barfield of Westville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel, and at other times at the home of Kevin and Tina Hunter, 3082 Old Georgetown Road.

Ahmad Massey

ROCK HILL - Ahmad Karriem Massey, 14, of 1025 Apt. G Glenarden Drive died Thursday, July 1, 1999.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crossroad Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. E. Boulware officiating, assisted by elder Pastor Arthur Mobley and the Revs. David Mangan and L.L. Robertson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Massey was an eighth-grade student at Castle Heights Middle School. He attended Unity Church of God in Christ. He was a member of his school's football team and basketball team.

Survivors include his mother, Julia Ann Massey, of Rock Hill; his father Arthur Hunt of Rock Hill; four brothers Arione Elder of Lancaster and Kevin Barnette, Tevin Barnette and Arthur Franklin Hunt Jr., all of Rock Hill; three sisters Altravise Hunt and Lakita Judge, both of Rock Hill, and Abeil Elder of Lancaster; his maternal grandmother, Jannie Mobley Massey of Rock Hill; and his paternal grandmother, Vinnie Hunt Brice of Morristown, N.J.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home, and at other times at the residences, 1025 Apt. G Glenarden Drive and 1926 Doby Drive.

The body will be placed in the church at noon Wednesday.
