Frances Wolfe

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Frances Powers Wolfe, 81, of 2533 Saluda Road died Monday, July 12, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Olene Civils officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Fayetteville, N.C., Mrs. Wolfe was a daughter of the late C.F. Powers and Lula Grantham Powers. She was the widow of Otis D. Wolfe. A homemaker, Mrs. Wolfe was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her son, Phillip D. Wolfe of Rock Hill; two daughters, Anita W. Gainey of Godwin, N.C., and Donna W. Witter of Rock Hill; two brothers, Paul N. Powers of Fayetteville, N.C., and Mike Powers of Jacksonville, Fla.; her sister, Beatrice Durgan; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Philip Maples

Mr. Philip Newton Maples, 77, of 772 N. Confederate Ave. died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at home.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Revs. Dennis Buchanan and Leroy Cox officiating.

A native of Sevierville, Tenn., Mr. Maples was an Army veteran of World War II. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the European and Middle Eastern Victory Medal with a Bronze Service Star. He was retired from Hoechst Celanese Corp. with 41 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine Maples; his daughter, Rita Maples Melton of Rock Hill; two brothers, Carl Maples of Jefferson, Tenn., and Ernest Maples of Kings Mountain, N.C.; four sisters, Grace Stewart and Dorothy Hodge, both of Kings Mountain, Ruth Parker of Houston and Mary Godfrey of Olvia, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Billy White

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Mr. Billy Eugene White, 66, of 9616 Caycee Drive died Tuesday, July 13, 1999, at Five Oaks Nursing Center.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Odell Baptist Church, with the Rev. Todd Marlow officiating. Burial will be at Huntersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

A native of York, Mr. White was a son of the late Robert Lee White and Emma Anthony Ladd White. He was the widower of Edna B. White and Maudie Lee White. He was retired from R.H. Wiggins Construction Co. in Charlotte.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry Wayne White of Clover and Joe Lee White of Charlotte; his stepson, Howard Hughes of Davidson; and two stepgrandchildren.

Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis, N.C., is in charge.

Agnes Kobor

FORT MILL - Mrs. Agnes Kobor, 72, of Fort Mill died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at home.

A memorial service will be held at her home at a later date.

A native of Hungry, she survived World War II in Hungry, Vienna, Austria, and Germany. She and her late husband, Ervin Kobor, and daughter came to the United States in 1952. They founded the direct mail company, Better Lists, in Stamford, Conn. They lived in Darien, Conn., and were members of The Woodway Country Club. They moved to Fort Mill in 1993, and Mrs. Kobor was a member of the Tega Cay Newcomers and Garden Club.

Surviving are her daughter, Catherine Sewald of California; and her grandson.

Memorials may be made to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204.

James Rechkemmer

FORT MILL - Mr. James Alan Rechkemmer, 47, of 215 Pondview Lane died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at home.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Friday at Glenrock Baptist Church, with Charles Niblet and the Rev. Gene Flack officiating.

A native of Roanoke, Ill., Mr. Rechkemmer was employed by Okuma America. He was a motorcycle enthusiast.

Surviving are his wife, Maureen Driscoll Rechkemmer; his son, Jeremy Rechkemmer of the U.S. Army; his daughter, Jamie Rechkemmer of the home; his mother, Florence Rechkemmer of Roanoke; his father, Raymond Rechkemmer of Roanoke; three brothers, Roy Rechkemmer of Chesapeake, Va., Ken Rechkemmer of Flower Mound, Texas, and Norm Rechkemmer of Roanoke; two sisters, Edith Prather of Tecumseh, Mo., and Kathy Menke of East Peoria, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 339 E.Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Virginia Coulter

FORT LAWN - Mrs. Virginia B. Coulter, 78, of 5621 Pleasant Ave. died Monday, July 12, 1999, in Knoxville, Tenn.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fort Lawn Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ted Hodges officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Fort Lawn.

A native of York County, Mrs. Coulter was a daughter of the late Marcus Lloyd Bowling and Nora Pallas Parker Bowling. She was the widow of Fred G. Coulter. A homemaker, she was a member of Fort Lawn Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Joel Coulter of Fort Lawn; two daughters, Alice Haddox of Fort Lawn and Barbara Sadler of Knoxville; her brother, Marcus L. Bowling Jr.; her sister, Hazel Williams of York; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Donna Darrow

LANCASTER - Mrs. Donna Darrow, 69, of 23331 Wildwood Road died Tuesday, July 13, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Home.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Lee Darrow; her son, Timothy Purrselly of Memphis, Tenn.; and her sister, Patricia Knobles of Houston, Texas.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Eloise Addison

FORT MILL - Mrs. Eloise Hightower Addison of Heritage Court died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Jack Hardaway officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Denmark, Mrs. Addison was a daughter of the late Loyal Glenn Hightower Sr. and Ogreta Best Hightower. She attended Columbia College on an academic scholarship and graduated in 1942 with a degree in mathematics education. She earned her master's degree in education from Winthrop University. She taught at Fort Mill High School for 20 years and retired in 1983. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Surviving are her husband, William A. Addison Jr.; her son, William A. Addison III of Fort Mill; two daughters, Ogreta A. Edwards of Fort Mill and Carol A. Addison of Union Mills, N.C.; her brother, ret. Col. L.G. Hightower of Beaufort; four grandchildren; and her great-grandson.

The family will receive friends at 7 to 9 tonight at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Memorials may be made to Eloise Hightower Addison Endowed Scholarship Fund at Columbia College, 1301 Columbia College Drive, Columbia, SC 29203.

Alfred Peoples

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Mr. Alfred Donald Peoples, 41, of 2501 Patterson Ave., formerly of Rock Hill, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at Wake Forest University Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Boyd Hill Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. J. Thomas Barber officiating and the Revs. Archie Stover, Harold Williams, David Jennings and Peron Long assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A graduate of Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, he was a son of the late Ellaree Truesdale Peoples. He joined Boyd Hill Baptist Church at an early age. He was a cabinet maker with Dixie Furniture Co.

Surviving are his father, Benny Vallo Peoples of Rock Hill; three brothers, Valle Eugene Peoples and Sammie Kay Peoples, both of Rock Hill, and Gary Lewis Peoples of Winston-Salem; and his sister, Debra Yvonne Williams of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends at 225 Bynum Ave., Rock Hill.

The body may be viewed from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Parker Funeral Home.

Elsie Farris

DARLINGTON - Miss Elsie Harriett Farris, 91, formerly of York, died Tuesday, July 13, 1999, at Bethea Baptist Home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bratton Funeral Home in York, with the Rev. Dr. Randy Gardner officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in York.

A native of York, Miss Farris was a daughter of the late Jessie J. Farris and Mary Stewart Farris. A telephone supervisor, she was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Co. She was a member of Southern Bell Pioneers and First Baptist Church in York.

Surviving are two sisters, Evelyn Robertson and Rachael Robertson, both of York; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today at Bratton Funeral Home.

Willie Gist

CHESTER - Mrs. Willie Tompie "Muddy" Hughes Gist, 88, of 1353 Worthy Ferry Road died Monday, July 12, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Mount Rowell Baptist Church in Union County, with the Rev. Heyward Greene officiating and the Rev. J.D. McClurkin and Ralph Lipsey Jr. assisting.

Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Gist was daughter of the late Garland Hughes and Lillie B. Worthy Hughes. She was the widow of Charles O. Gist. She was a member of Mount Rowell Baptist Church, where she served as a missionary. She was a member of the AB&P Society No. 17. She lived in New York for several years where she was a member of Brown Memorial and Concord Baptist churches.

Surviving are two daughters, Willie Dawson and Lillian Hicks, both of Queens, N.Y.; three sisters, Effie Lawrence of Union, Dilsie Sanders of Chester and Margie Lewis of Brooklyn, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St.

Robert Agnew

KERSHAW - Mr. Robert Lee Agnew, 64, of 315 W. Pine St. died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Springdale Health Care Center in Camden.

A memorial services will be at a later date.

A native of Cleveland County, N.C., Mr. Agnew was a son of Frances Hendrick Agnew of Kershaw and the late Robert Sharp Agnew. He was a retired tobacco buyer for Reynolds Tobacco Co.

He was a Navy veteran and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his mother is his sister, Betsy Hagins of Kershaw.

Hartley Funeral Home is in charge.

Helen Baker

LANCASTER - Mrs. Helen Parkman Baker, 78, of 1734 Grace Ave. died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at White Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bobby Bailey officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Greenwood County, Mrs. Baker was a daughter of the late John Marvin Parkman and Christine Grant Parkman. She was the widow of David Baker. She was retired from Springs Industries and Wal-Mart.

Surviving are her son, Rick Baker of Lancaster; five sisters, Katheryn Harmon, Faye Sistare, and Johnnie Taylor, all of Lancaster, and Jean Outen and Jimmie Ruth Todd, both of Socatese; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her son, Rick Baker, 1912 Fairway Drive, Lancaster.

Memorials may be made to the South Carolina Federation for the Blind, 1430 Confederate Ave., Columbia, SC 29201.

Lucille Bradberry

ABBEVILLE - Mrs. Lucille Elrod Bradberry, 73, of Abbeville died Wednesday, July 14, 1999, at Laurens County Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at South Side Baptist Church, with the Rev. Earl Hartley officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

A native of Greenville County, Mrs. Bradberry was a daughter of the late Claude Clifford Elrod and Ida Victoria Bailey Elrod.

She was the widow of Rufus Willie Bradberry. A homemaker, she was a member of South Side Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Mark Jay Bradberry of Marietta, Ga.; three daughters, Victoria B. Goodbar of Rock Hill, Rhonda B. Harman of Laurens and Barbara B. Boddie of McCormick; her brother, George Elrod of Greenwood; and 12 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Harris Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.
