Pauline Warlick

EASLEY - Mrs. Pauline Mace Warlick, 83, formerly of Clover, died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Easley Baptist Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Clover First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jody Seymour officiating.

Burial will be at Pisgah Baptist Church cemetery in Casar, N.C.

A native of Casar, Mrs. Warlick was a daughter of the late Frank M. Mace and Mimie Buff Mace. She was the widow of John Thomas Warlick Jr. She was an elementary school teacher for 10 years and was then owner of Warlick Department Store in Clover for more than 50 years. Mrs. Warlick was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Dr. John Thomas Warlick III of Gastonia, N.C., Frank Mace Warlick of Charlotte and Hal Jarome Warlick of Pickens; her sister, Sara Hazel Beam of Casar; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover.

Memorials may be made to Clover First United Methodist Church, 124 Bethel St., Clover, SC 29710.

Ella Ruth Butler

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ella Ruth Butler, 70, of 1611 Constitution Blvd. died Friday, July 16, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Friendship United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Taylor officiating. Entombment will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Summerville, Mrs. Butler was the daughter of the late Joseph Sidney Kenyon Jr. and Emily Ruth Sillivant Kenyon. A retired legal secretary, Mrs. Butler was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her son, Keith D. Butler of Chesterfield; her daughter, Karen B. Helms of Rock Hill; her brother, Joseph Sidney Kenyon III of Georgetown; two sisters, Mary Anna Grant of Marion, N.C., and Evelyn Gertrude Bradley of Savannah, Ga.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Karen Helms.

Memorials may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church at 1200 Neely Store Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730, or to the charity of one's choice.

Mary Byrum

YORK - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Moses Byrum, 76, of 42 Ross Cannon St. died Friday, July 16, 1999, at the York Care Facility.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Ron Culbertson officiating.

A native of York County, Mrs. Byrum was the daughter of the late Oliver Thomas Moses and Annie Howe Moses. She was the widow of Claude H. Byrum, a member of the Central Baptist Church and a retired sales representative for the Avon Company.

Surviving are her son, Claude Danny Byrum of Honea Path; three brothers, Marshall Lee Moses of Waco, Texas, Bill Moses of Brunswick, Ga., and Dewey Moses of Gastonia, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at York Funeral Home.

Lona Carter

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lona Hoffman Carter, 96, of 1048 Neely's Creek Road died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at White Oak Manor in York.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church, with the Rev. Bill O. Fleming officiating. Internment will be at Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church.

A native of Gaston County, N.C., Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late David Henderson Hoffman and Mary Effie Capps Hoffman. She was the widow of Edward Carli Carter. She was a homemaker and a member of Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church.

Surviving are seven daughters, Erline C. Cochran of Fayetteville, Ga., Carolyn C. Thomas of Fort Mill, Martha C. Miller of York, Evelyn C. Matthews, Irene C. Plyler, Mary Anne C. Boyd and Edith A. Carter, all of Rock Hill; 22 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel.

Carolyn McMoore-Locke

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Carolyn Yvonne McMoore-Locke, 46, of 227 Columbia Ave. died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronnie L. Baxter officiating and the Revs. John Simpson and Gerald Searles assisting. Burial will be at the Union Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. McMoore-Locke was a daughter of Jessie Lee McMoore and Catherine E. Boyd McMoore. She was a certified nursing assistant and physical therapist. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, a member of The Heavenly Spiritual Gospel Singers, a former member of Union Gospel Chorus, served on the Usher Board, a member of the YWCA and president of the Sunshine Band. She graduated from Rock Hill High School and attended York Technical College.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, James Edward Locke; two sons, Taiwain L. Taylor and James LaMarick Locke, both of Rock Hill; her daughter, Shelisha Locke of Rock Hill; her sister, Jessica McMoore of Rock Hill; and one grandchild.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 tonight and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday.

Visitation will be at the home of Jessie Lee McMoore and Catherine McMoore, 1240 Heckle Blvd. and 227 Columbia Ave.

Parker Funeral Home is in charge.

Mark Pernick

GARDEN CITY BEACH - Mr. Mark Stephen Pernick, 64, of Basin Terrace died Friday, July 16, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, with Rabbi Jessica Spitalnic officiating.

Interment will be at the Jewish Grounds in Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Pernick was a son of the late Louis Henry Pernick and Sylvia Mendelson Pernick. He was a graduate of Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Hill, Va. He attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., and New York City College.

He moved from Old Westbury, Long Island, N.Y., and lived in River Hills from 1973 to 1979. He was a resident of both Garden City Beach and Rock Hill since 1979. He worked in the textile industry for more than 40 years with family businesses, Joseph Pernick Machinery Co., Monark Textile Co. and Sam-Sin International.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Fowlkes Pernick; three sons, Jeffery Alan Pernick and Warren Jay Pernick, both of Clover and Edward Adam Pernick of Rock Hill; his daughter, Michelle Pernick Taylor of Rock Hill; two stepsons, Keely Albert Grice III and Stephen Marshall Grice, both of Charlotte; three sisters, Vida Pernick of West Palm Beach, Fla., Bonnie Pernick of Aventura, Fla., and Andie Pernick of Pinecrest, Fla.; and seven granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home Beach Chapel in Murrells Inlet.

Robert Ferrell

COLUMBIA - Mr. Robert Steven Ferrell, 52, of 515 Fourth St., Chester died Saturday, July 17, 1999, in Columbia.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. today at Living Waters Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. Carl Williams officiating.

Mr. Ferrell was a son of Sara Ferrell and Dewey Ferrell. He graduated from Chester High School and attended Living Waters Pentecostal Church.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda K. Ferrell; two daughters, Stephanie K. Ferrell and Teresa Ann Ferrell, both of Chester; four brothers, Larry Ferrell, Dewey "Cooter" Ferrell, Russell Ferrell and David Ferrell, all of Chester; and two sisters, Helen Laverne Ferrell of Salisbury, N.C., and Melanie Ferrell of Columbia.

Odus Wease

LORIS - Mr. Odus Max Wease, 70, of the Daisy Community, formerly of Charlotte, died Saturday, July 17, 1999, in the Conway Nursing Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the Hardwick Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Chatman officiating. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery.

A native of Shelby, N.C., Mr. Wease was a World War II veteran who served in the 11th Airborne Division. He was retired from the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Charlotte and was a Baptist.

Surviving are his wife, Hassie Cobbler Wease of Loris; three sons, Mike Wease and Doug Wease, both of Gaffney, and Robert Wease of Columbia; his daughter, Rebecca Reeves of Fort Mill; his stepson, Baxter Lockhart of Charlotte; his stepdaughter, Wanda Wade of Hillsborough, N.C.; his half-brother, Earl Wease of Shelby, N.C.; his sister, Carol Bridges of Shelby, N.C.; his half-sister, Emma Boan of Baltimore; eight grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Hardwick Funeral Home is in charge.

Joel Wessinger Sr.

LEESVILLE - Mr. Joel Thomas Wessinger Sr., 56, of Route 4 died Friday, July 16, 1999, in Blair.

A graveside service with military rites will be 5 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Brice Castles and Mr. Lin Slaton officiating.

A native of Chester, Mr. Wessinger was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon Samay Wessinger of Ohio; his son, Joel T. Wessinger Jr. of Whitmire; his sister, Margaret Fetner of Indian Trail, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Batesville-Leesville Post of the VFW, Rock & Creek Road, Leesville, SC 29070.

Elizabeth Broughton

LANCASTER - Mrs. Elizabeth Baker Broughton, 78, of 4341 Great Falls Highway died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Catawba Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clarence Adams officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Camden, Mrs. Broughton was a daughter of the late William Thomas Baker and Annie Hunter Baker. She was the widow of Odell James Broughton. Mrs. Broughton was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and a member of Catawba Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Warren Frances Broughton of Lancaster; her daughter, Pamela Beth Hegler of Lancaster; her sister, Ruby Gardner of Kershaw; her half-brother, Tommy Coates of Kershaw; and two half-sisters, Alma Bowers of Kershaw and Dora Cauthen of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Larry and Pam Hegler, 1152 Merribrook Lane, Lancaster.

Robert Dixon

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Mr. Robert Allen "R.A." Dixon, 76, of 195 Hickery St. died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be noon today at Third Baptist Church in Springfield, with the Rev. Nathaniel Smith officiating.

A native of Fairfield County, Mr. Dixon was a son of the late Mike Dixon and Viola Thomas Dixon. He was the widower of Julia Mae Pickett Dixon.

Surviving are five sons, the Rev. Alfonzo P. Dixon, Leroy Dixon, Robert Dixon Jr., Michael James Dixon and Theodore Dixon, all of Springfield; seven daughters, Essie Mae P. Crapps, Carrie Mae P. Gresham, Renee Dixon, Robert D. Wanzo, Jewel D. Shavers, Dianne D. Crapps and Deborah Lewis, all of Springfield; and his sister, Viola Dixon of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. today at the church.

Anita McRee

HEATH SPRINGS - Mrs. Anita Reich Bentz McRee, 85, of 668 Deal Road died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Von Cockrell officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Memorial Cemetery in Hollywood, Fla.

A native of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. McRee was a daughter of the late Richard Herman Reich and Alma Helen Yahnke Reich. She was the widow of Gilbert George Bentz and Cullie Eugene McRee. She was a retired secretary from the food service industry and was of the Lutheran faith.

Surviving are her son, Clifford H. Bentz of Brookfield, Wis.; her daughter, Barbara Lowery of Heath Springs; her nephew who was raised in the home, Woodrow "Buddy" Reich II of Stetsonville, Wis.; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; and her step great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Hartley Funeral Home.

Tasha McWaters

BLACKSTOCK - Miss Tasha Mae McWaters, 20, of 2317 Countryside Drive died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Blackstock Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Dave Riddle officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Miss McWaters was a rising senior at Fairfield Central High School in Winnsboro. She was a member of Blackstock Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her parents, Wallace Scott "Mac" McWaters and Alma "Amy" Stansberry McWaters; her brother, Walter Scott "Walt" McWaters; maternal grandmother, Margaret Ferguson of Lando; and her maternal great-grandmother, Ida Pennock of Lando.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Blackstock Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, Blackstock, SC 29014.

Melvin Misenheimer Jr.

CHESTER - Mr. Melvin Guy Misenheimer Jr., 67, of 120 Crestwood Circle died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Purity Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Mark Mason officiating.

A native of Cairo, Ga., Mr. Misenheimer was a son of Louise Thomason Misenheimer of Monroe, N.C., and the late Melvin Guy Misenheimer Sr. He was a graduate of Maxton High School in Maxton, N.C., and Presbyterian College. He was a retired coach, teacher and administrator with the Chester County school system.

He was former president of the South Carolina High School Coaches Association and member of the Buck Club of Chester. He was a member of the Young Farmers Association and Chester County Builders Association.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Sue Boyce Misenheimer of Chester and his brother, Dan Misenheimer of Monroe, N.C.

The family will receive friends at home.
