Charles Hulin III

LASKER, N.C. - The Rev. Charles Jesse Hulin III, 69, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Lasker Baptist Church, with the Revs. J. Howard Tew and Joe McLean officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, N.C.

The Rev. Hulin was a son of the late Charles J. Hulin Jr. and Grace Durham Hulin. He was a graduate of Durham High School, Elon College and Southeastern Seminary. He has been a minister since 1961 and served churches in Critz, Va., Rockingham, N.C., Chapel Hill, N.C., Sampson County, N.C., Merry Hill, N.C., and two churches in South Carolina. He served as pastor of Lasker Baptist Church since 1994. He was an Army veteran and former member of Grace Baptist Church in Durham.

Surviving are his wife, Laurie Harrison Hulin; his son, Charles J. Hulin IV of Baltimore; and his sister, Mary H. Harrill of Austin, Texas.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, N.C.

Carlson Jeter Jr.

SHARON - Mr. Carlson Jeter Jr., 68, of 4531 George Bridge Road in the Thompson Quarter Community died Monday, July 26, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Hopewell Baptist Church, with the Rev. Raymond T. Davis officiating and the Revs. W.T. "Dub" Massey and Heyward Greene assisting. Burial with full military honors will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Mr. Jeter was a son of the late Carlson Jeter Sr. and Estelle Logan Jeter. He was a member of Mount Rowell Baptist Church in Union. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was captured as a prisoner of war.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Thompson Jeter; two sons, Lenward Thompson of Plainfield, N.J., and Jimmy Jeter of the home; three daughters, Sandra Jeter of Colonial Heights, Va., Maj. Phoebe Jeter of Heidelberg, Germany, and Connie Worthy of Greenville; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Cofer Lewis

COWPENS - Mr. Cofer William Lewis, 95, of 250 Cofer Lewis Road died Wednesday, July, 28, 1999, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Springhill Memorial Gardens.

A native of Spartanburg, Mr. Lewis was a son of the late Marvin Curtis Lewis and Texana Steadman Lewis. He was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church and was a mechanic.

Surviving are his wife, Mamie Roddy Lewis; four daughters, Jennie L. Crocker and Mazie L. Turner, both of Mayo, Bobbie L. Chitwood of Rock Hill, and Ann L. Bowen of Chesnee; two sisters, Beautha Lewis of Spartanburg and Mary Frances Wright of Mayo; two brothers, David Lewis and Fred Lewis, both of Mayo; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

Ruby Moore

NORTH AUGUSTA - Mrs. Ruby Walker Moore, 83, of 309 West Pinegrove Ave., formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert H. Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Moore was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta and a member of the Sheffield Club. She was a former employee at Clearwater Finishing Plant.

Surviving are her daughter, Phyllis C. Moore of Rock Hill; her nieces and her nephew.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home.

Barbara Postell

CHARLOTTE - Miss Barbara S. Postell, 78, of Charlotte, died Friday, July 23, 1999, at the Autumn Care Center in Salisbury, N.C.

A private memorial service will be held later.

A native of Charlotte, Miss Postell was a daughter of the late James Anderson Postell and Susan E. Henderlite Postell. She was a member of St. John's Baptist Church.

Surviving are her sister, Shirley Postell Stephens of Tega Cay; her brother, Thomas Wade Postell of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, P.O. Box 667, Maulden, SC 29662.

Reatha Auten

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Reatha Hall Auten, 77, of 5250 Hampton Ridge Road died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at her lake home on Aragon Beach Road.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Newport, with the Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Kelly officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Auten was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. where she worked more than 25 years as a sample exporter clerk.

Surviving are her husband, Graynell M. Auten; two sons, EverettAuten of Rock Hill and Randy Auten of Kannapolis, N.C.; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her son, Everett Auten, 1100 Woodward Drive.

Beverly Bachelor

LAKE WYLIE - Ms. Beverly Lura Robison Bachelor, 66, of 6435 Crosswinds Drive died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum, with the Rev. Jeffrey Vickery officiating. Entombment will be at Gaston Memorial Park.

A native of Wolled Lake, Mich., Ms. Bachelor was a daughter of Lavena Phillis Robison of Orion, Mich., and the late Charles Robison. She was a member of River Hills Community Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother are three sons, Gregory Lange of Wixon, Mich., Arthur Lange of Mio, Mich., and Shawn Bachelor of Lake Wylie; her daughter, Marla Lange of Clover; two brothers, Tom Robison and Jerry Robison, both of Pontiac, Mich.; her stepsister, Virginia Kirby of Point Homosassa, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, Clover.

Virginia Clark

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Mrs. Virginia Crank Clark, 57, formerly of Chester, died Friday, July 23, 1999.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lawrence H. Woodward Funeral Home. Burial will be in New York.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Clark was a daughter of the late Samuel Carter and Mildred Crank. She was the widow of Marvin Clark. She was a graduate of Finley High School. She was a member of Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church in Chester County. She was an office secretary.

Surviving are her son, Derrick Clark of Brooklyn; her daughter, Debra Clark of Brooklyn; three sisters, Eliza Scott of St. Louis, and Thelma Carter and Beulah Carter, both of Baltimore; her brother, William Good of Georgia; her foster mother, Melva Lee Good of Carlisle; and two grandchildren.

King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., is in charge of local arrangements.

Annie Feemster

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Caveny Feemster, 80, of 2453 Oak Park Road died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Anthony Dick and Jerry Devenney officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Feemster was a daughter of the late Robert Campbell Caveny and Annie Irene Brown Caveny. A homemaker, she was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her husband, Craig J. Feemster; three sons, David Feemster of Edgemoor, Leslie Feemster of Salisbury, N.C., and Jack Feemster of Gilbert; two daughters, Thelma Brown of Port Richey, Fla., and Nancy Neely of McConnells; four brothers, Roy Caveny of York, George Caveny of Whittset, N.C., and T. Mason Caveny and Carl Caveny, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Frances Dickson of York and Alleine Feemster of Rock Hill; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Sopheea Harris

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Sopheea Trakas Harris, 90, of 4089 Mockingbird Lane died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rick Martin officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Virginia, Mrs. Harris was a daughter of the late George S. Trakas and Essie Helms Trakas. She was the widow of James Thomas Harris and was a member of Eastview Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Amelia Harris Simmers and Beverly Harris Voyles, both of Rock Hill, and Geraldine Harris Parker of Bessemer City, N.C.; her brother, Nick G. Trakas; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Bass Funeral Home.

James Jones

LORIS - Mr. James Harold Jones, 61, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Loris Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the Inman Funeral Home in Tabor City, N.C., with the Rev. Chip Hannah. Burial will be at Fairview Church cemetery at Mount Croghan.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce J. Jones; two sons, Rondal Jones of Monroe, N.C. and Danny Jones of Statesville, N.C.; three daughters, Janice J. Hewitt of Green Sea, and Sonia Jones and Vanessa Jones, both of Loris; his sister, Frances Tucker of Charlotte; and six grandchildren.

Ernest Messer

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ernest Roland Messer, 90, of 5495 Winden Road died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Newport, with the Revs. Ronald E. Kelley and Doyle Smith officiating. Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.

Mr. Messer was retired from Cone Mills in Pineville, N.C. and worked at the Museum of York County for a number of years after his retirement. He was the widow of Daisy Ervin Messer.

Surviving are two sons, Doyle Y. Messer of Elgin and Frank Lee Welch of Rock Hill; two sisters, Kate Rials and Luette Thompson, both of Gastonia, N.C.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Elaine Ware

HILLSIDE, N.J. - Ms. Elaine Ware, 43, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at the Veteran's Hospital of Hillside, N.J.

The funeral will be Saturday at First Baptist Church of Hillside.

Surviving are her parents, Gene and Dorothy Ware of Irvington, N.J.; her daughter, Kimberly Ware of Hillside; three sisters, Denise Ware of Irvington, Regina Ware of Rahway, N.J., and Stephanie Ware of Hillside..

Cotton Funeral Home in Newark, N.J., is in charge.

Christopher King's Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Johnny White

CHESTER - Mr. Johnny Lee "White Dog" White, 48, of Center Street, Apt. 44, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. McKinley Woods officiating and the Rev. Moses Lightner assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, he was a son of Emma White of Chester. He attended the Chester County schools and was employed as a cement mixer.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are two sisters, Linda White and Patty White, both of Chester.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Mary Boling

LANCASTER - Mrs. Mary Helen Cauthen Boling, 79, of 875 Hilldale Drive died Friday, July 30, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Shane Patrick and Roy Barnes officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Boling was a daughter of the late Joseph Clyde Cauthen and Nannie Parker Cauthen. She was the widow of Ezell Boling. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was a retired cafeteria supervisor for Springs Memorial Hospital.

Surviving are two sisters, Leona Lane and Reba Ballard, both of Lancaster; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral home and at other times at the home of Sybil Powers, 2075 Glenny Pine Drive, Lancaster.
