Dorothy Faulkenberry

KERSHAW - Mrs. Dorothy Hilda Roberts Faulkenberry, 70, of 7523 Sandhill Road died Friday, July 30, 1999, at Providence Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel, with the Revs. Charlie Young and Keith Coates officiating. Burial will follow in Kershaw City Cemetery.

A native of Kershaw, Mrs. Faulkenberry was a daughter of the late Lewis Steven Roberts and Minnie Arleava Knight Roberts. She was a member of Oakridge Baptist Church and the Janie Hunter Sunday school class.

Surviving are her husband, Cletis Ward Faulkenberry of Kershaw; two daughters, Linda Robinson of Kershaw and Joann Williams of Kershaw; her brother, James W. "Bud" Roberts of Heath Springs; her sister, Nannie Ruth Bowling of Kershaw; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel, and at other times at the home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and the Connie Mawell Children's Home.

Jessie Hilton

KERSHAW - Mrs. Jessie Mae Cauthen Hilton, 88, of 7048 Hilton Drive died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Hanging Rock Methodist Church, with the Revs. Eugene Feagin and Dalton Deese officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Kershaw, Mrs. Hilton was a daughter of the late Lucius Summers Cauthen and Minnie Eleanor Rutledge Cauthen. She was a member of the Hanging Rock Methodist Church and a homemaker.

She was the widow of Yance Hilton.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda Catledge of Kershaw and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Ruth Kennedy

CHESTER - Mrs. Ruth Graham "Lizzie" Kennedy, 59, of 100 Torbit St., Apt. 9-A, died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Christian Home Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lloyd Reid officiating and the Revs. Moses Lightner, Donald Carter and George Sims assisting. Burial will be at Mount Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Kennedy was a daughter of the late Johnny Jackson Sr. and Dora Graham. She was the widow of Floyd C. Kennedy. She was a domestic worker. She was a member of Christian Home Baptist Church and attended the public schools of Chester County.

Surviving are two sons, Nathaniel Graham and Kelvin L. Kennedy, both of Chester; her godson whom she raised, Kenneth Woodley of Charlotte; three daughters, Linda G. Wright, Tammy L. Graham, and Gwendolyn K. McClurkin, all of Chester; her goddaughter whom she raised, Catherine Brown of McConnells; three brothers, Johnny Jackson Jr., Otis Graham, both of Chester, and Nathaniel Jackson of Rock Hill; three sisters, Sarah Jackson, Eva M. Graham and Annie Ruth Jackson, all of Chester; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St.

Martha Long

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Martha Nunnery Long, 85, of Richburg died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Lando Baptist Church, with the Rev. Marion Drye officiating. Burial will be in Lando Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Long was the daughter of the late Albert and Lonia Nunnery, and the widow of Lathan Long.

Mrs. Long was a member of Lando Baptist Church and was active in church missions. She retired from Manetta Mills as a seamstress.

Surviving are two sons, Jimmie Long of Lando and Joseph Long of Edgemoor; her daughter, Carol Ann Raymond of Atlanta; her brother, Jimmy Nunnery of Edgemoor; two sisters, Ruth Dixon of Columbia and Vera Long of Greensboro, N.C.; four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to White Oak Manor in care of Activities Director, 1915 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Ronald Plyler

LANCASTER - Mr. Ronald Dean Plyler, 46, of 2661 Loading Road died Monday, July 26, 1999.

A memorial service will be 4:30 p.m. today at Mahaffey Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. N.J. Neely officiating.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Plyler was the son of Edna Ruby Plyler and the late Oliver Fewell Plyler. He was a member of Glenwood Heights Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his brother, Charles Plyler of Columbia; and his sister, Mrs. Doris Wells of Vacaville, Calif.

The family will receive friends immediately after the funeral service.

Mahaffey Funeral Home is in charge.

Loreane Pressley

LANCASTER - Mrs. Loreane Watts Pressley, 73, of 650 Old Camden-Monroe Highway died Friday, July 30, 1999, at the Union Regional Medical Center in Monroe, N.C.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at the Oak Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Thurman Johnson and Charles Hendricks officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery,

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Pressley was a daughter of the late John Watts and Maude Sistare Watts. She was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church and a homemaker.

She is the widow of Clyde Pressley.

Surviving are four sons, James "Peanut" Allen, Danny "Tuck" Allen, Robert "Beau" Allen and Jeffery Pressley, all of Lancaster; two daughters, Joyce Walker and Faye Allen, both of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pressley will be taken to her home where she will remain until the funeral.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Dustin Redick

KERSHAW - Dustin Trenton Redick, 2, of 2873 Lockhart Road died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bethany Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donald Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, he was the son of Russell and Sara Jane Redick.

Surviving are his parents, Russell and Sara Jane Redick of Kershaw; his brother, Charlie Redick of Kershaw; his sister, Mrs. Heather Campbell of Catawba, N.C.; his paternal grandparents, Clifton and Pauline Redick of Kershaw; and his maternal grandparents, A.C. and Dorothy Sullivan of Jefferson, and Grady and Sylvia Bowers of Westville.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Louise Roach

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Louise R. Roach, 72, of 1125 Smith St. died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mary Adams officiating. Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Park.

A native of York County, Mrs. Roach was the daughter of the late Ralph Rankin and Janie Mae Thomasson Rankin. She was the widow of William Roach.

Mrs. Roach attended York County schools and was a homemaker. She attended Emmanuel AME Zion Church, where she was a member of the trustee board, class leader, hymn choir member, vice president of the hymn choir, deaconess and a member of the AP&B Society, and Emmanuel Lodge No. 15.

Surviving are five daughters, Pauline Moore, Helen Ruth Geter and Beverly Dixon of Rock Hill; Doris Massey of Charlotte and the Rev. Mary Adams of Fort Mill; two sons, Willie Roach of Tirzah and Jerry Roach of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Friends may view the body from from 5 to 7 tonight at Wright Funeral Home in York and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. today.

Vera Stewart

FORT MILL - Mrs. Vera Parker Stewart, 76, of 115 Redcoat Drive in Fort Mill died Friday, July 31, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jesse Simis officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Stewart was of the Church of God faith. She worked at J.P. Stevens industrial mill. She was the widow of Woodrow Blaine Stewart

Surviving are her son, Walter "Pete" Stewart of Winston Salem, N.C.; three daughters, Elizabeth A. Bragg of Rock Hill, Mary Helen Davis of Asheville, N.C. and Catherine Dwiggins of Fort Mill; two brothers, Dewey Thomas Parker of Chester and Curtis Parker of Bennettsville; four sisters, Margie Gable of Lowerys, Inez Parker and Earlene Lipford, both of Chester and Beulah Mae Plyler of Gastonia, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Elizabeth Bragg, 938 Museum Road in Rock Hill.

John Baker

MATTHEWS, N.C. - Mr. John Rainsford Baker, 92, of Matthews, N.C. died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Harry Bryant Chapel in the Oaks, 500 Providence Road in Charlotte, with the Rev. Larry Watts officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

A native of Aiken, Mr. Baker was a son of the late George W. Baker and Lucy Morris Baker. He was a retired bookkeeper from Duke Power and a member of First Baptist Church in Charlotte.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred M. Baker; his daughter, Elizabeth B. Horton of Kershaw; his stepdaughter, Lynn Hart of Atlanta; five brothers, Harry B. Baker of Charlotte, Wade H. Baker of Lancaster, J. Morris Baker and William W. "Bill" Baker, both of Heath Springs, and James Baker of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Esther B. Kay of Lancaster and Florence B. Brannen of Great Falls; his grandson; two stepgranddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Harry Bryant and Company.

Annie Blackwell

ROCK HILL"-"Mrs. Annie Zora Huggins Blackwell, 88, of 303 Greenbay Drive died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at Helms-Gordon Residential Care in Fort Lawn.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating.

Mrs. Blackwell was retired from the J.P. Stevens Industrial Plant and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Harry "Don" Blackwell of Columbia; her daughter, Frances B. Weaver of Rock Hill; her brother, George Huggins of Columbia; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Francis Hagen Sr.

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Francis J. "Frank" Hagen Sr., 57, of 1542 Deer Branch Road, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Rock Hill, with Father John Giuliani officiating. Burial will be private.

A native of the Bronx, N.Y., Mr. Hagen was a son of the late Francis J. Hagen II and Letitia McTague Hagen. A graduate of Ionia College in New Rochelle, N.Y., he was a life-insurance underwriter and former manager with Atlantic Coast Life Insurance Co. in Rock Hill.

Surviving are his wife, Betty B. Hagen; his son, Frank Hagen of Spartanburg; two daughters, Florence M. Ramsey and Terry Hagen, both of Rock Hill; his stepson, Donald G. Boyd Jr. of Rock Hill; and his stepdaughter, Terri Hunt of Tega Cay.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his stepson, Donald Boyd Jr., 181 Briarwood Drive, Rock Hill, or at the home of his daughter, Terry Hagen, 1052 Farm Pond Lane, Rock Hill.

James Hall

CHICAGO - The Rev. James Hall, 99, formerly of York, died Friday, July 23, 1999 at the Edgewater Hospital in Chicago.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Clinton Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in York, with the Rev. Z.B. Wells officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in York.

A native of York, the Rev. Hall is a son of the late John and Sarah King Hall. He was Minister Emeritus at Clinton Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.

Surviving are his daughter, Frances Hall of Chicago; his grandson; his great-grandson; and his great-great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Wright Funeral Home in York.

James Hicklin

ROCK HILL - James McCrorey Hicklin, 80, of Edgemoor died Sunday, August 1, 1999 at Magnolia Nursing Home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at the Edgemoor Cemetery, with the Rev. Allan Derrick officiating.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Hicklin was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hicklin Sr. of Edgemoor. He was a member of the Edgemoor ARP Church, where he served as deacon. He was also a retired farmer.

Surviving are his brother, Jack Hicklin Sr. of Rock Hill; and his sister-in-law Nadine Hicklin of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at the Edgemoor ARP Church following the service.
