CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Mrs. Mary Carter Jones, 66, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Great Falls, died Saturday July 31, 1999, in Fort Myers, Fla.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls, with the Rev. Tony Medlin officiating.

A native of North Myrtle Beach, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of Versie Stevens Carter of Florida and the late Olin F. Carter. She was the widow of Flake M. Jones. Mrs. Jones was owner and operator of Jones Auto Parts in Great Falls for 30 years. She was a graduate of Wampee High School in North Myrtle Beach. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Great Falls. She lived in Florida for the past 13 years where she was a hospital volunteer.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her son, Martin D. Jones of Cape Coral, Fla.; two daughters, Denise Jones of Seward, Ala., and Revere Bigham of Great Falls; and two grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home in Great Falls.

Jessie Thomas

GASTONIA, N.C. - Miss Jessie C. Thomas, 66, of 2601 Norman St. died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Hill AME Zion Church at Lake Wylie, with the Rev. Terrence Jones officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Miss Thomas was a daughter of Macie Thomas and the late Earther Tho-mas. She was a member of Liberty Hill AME Zion Church, where she served as church secretary, Sunday school teacher, church musician and member of the Stewardess Board and Christian Education board.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her sister, Mamie T. Hodnett of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and her nephew.

The family will receive friends at home.

Costner Funeral Home in Gastonia is in charge.

Shelvadean Hindman

FORT LAWN - Mrs. Shelvadean Lucas Hindman, 60, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fort Lawn Baptist Church, with the Revs. Ted Hodges and Gene Morgan officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Hindman was a daughter of the late Charles Murray Lucas and Rose Collins Lucas. She was an employee of the Chester County school district.

Surviving are her daughter, Tammy Hindman of Rock Hill; two sons, Chuck Hindman and Shannon Hindman, both of Fort Lawn; six sisters, Eva Lathan of Chester, Neal Cameron of Rock Hill, Joanne Sanders of Chesapeake, Va., Virginia Baker of Wadesboro, N.C., and Jean Benton and Shirley Wynn, both of Fort Lawn; and three brothers, Aulton Lucas of Lancaster, and Banks Lucas and H.L. "Tug" Lucas, both of Great Falls.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Rosetta Harris

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Rosetta Harris, 87, of Charlotte, formerly of Richburg, died Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Richburg, with the Rev. Benjamin Murdock officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Harris was a daughter of the late Nannie Buchannan and John White. She was the widow of J.C. Harris. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She was a retired domestic worker.

Surviving are her son, Wardell Harris of Charlotte; seven daughters, Laura Stinson, Thelma Earl, Johnnie Mae Barbour, Floree Stradford, Doretha Thompson and Arsonia Beatty, all of Charlotte, and Tecola Alexander of Kings Mountain, N.C.; 36 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 67 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at King's Funeral Home, 4000 Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte.

The body will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Vera Stewart

FORT MILL - Mrs. Vera Parker Stewart, 76, of 115 Redcoat Drive died Friday, July 30, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral was 2 p.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jesse Sims officiating. Burial was at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Stewart was of the Church of God faith. She worked at J.P. Stevens Industrial Mill. She was the widow of Woodrow Blaine Stewart

Surviving are her son, Walter "Pete" Stewart of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three daughters, Elizabeth A. Bragg of Rock Hill, Mary Helen Davis of Asheville, N.C., and Catherine Dwiggins of Fort Mill; two brothers, Dewey Thomas Parker of Chester and Curtis Parker of Bennettsville; five sisters, Margie Gable of Lowerys, Janie Broome, Inez Parker and Earlene Lipford, all of Chester, and Beulah Mae Plyler of Gastonia, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Elizabeth Bragg, 938 Museum Road, Rock Hill.

Greene Funeral Home was in charge.

John Parkman Jr.

LANCASTER - Mr. John Russell "Russ" Parkman Jr., 62, of 1748 Starmount Circle died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at White Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bobby Bailey and the Rev. Bobby Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Columbia, Mr. Parkman was a son of the late John Russell Parkman Sr. and Catherine Mathias Parkman. He was owner and operator of Starmount Motors and was in the automobile business for many years. He was a member of White Springs Baptist Church and was an Air Force veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Lasater Parkman; his daughter, Paige Parkman Roberts of Heath Springs; two sons, Scott Parkman and Steve Parkman, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Jerry Parkman and Harold Parkman, both of Lancaster; his sister, Joye Parkman Bazemore of Lancaster; and his grandson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Mary Biggers

CLOVER - Mrs. Mary Sue Biggers, 67, of 14088 W. Highway 55 died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Biggers was a daughter of Ruth Synder Bratton of Blacksburg and the late Preston Bratton. She was the widow of Bill J. Biggers.

Surviving in addition to her mother are four sons, Wayne Crowder, Mac Biggers, Johnny Biggers and Steven Benfield, all of Blacksburg; three daughters, Charlene Johnston of Clover, Sheila Biggers of Gastonia, N.C., and Mary Lou Robichaud of York; three brothers, James Bratton of Clover, and Robert Bratton and Charles Bratton, both of Blacksburg; her sister, Edna Bolin of Smyrna; and 13 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Thursday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Ryan Dickson

LANCASTER - Mr. Ryan Clinton Dickson, 28, of 1849 Shelton St. died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at New Cut Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Dickson was employed by Roberts Poly-Pro in Charlotte. He was a member of New Cut Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Allison Hayes Dickson; two sons, Andrew Dickson and Riley Dickson, both of the home; his daughter, Sydney Dickson of the home; his father, the Rev. Wayne Dickson of Lancaster; his mother, Linda Corriher Dickson of York; his brother, Heath Dickson of Charlotte; his sister, Carla Dickson Hinson of Anchorage, Alaska; and his stepmother, Dianne Dickson of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Hartley Funeral Home.

Worth Ervin

CLOVER - Mr. Worth Marion Ervin, 64, of 106 McConnell St. died Friday, July 30, 1999, at home.

The memorial service will be 4 p.m. today at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Spear officiating.

A native of York County, Mr. Ervin was a son of the late Coley Ervin and Nola Pennington Ervin.

Surviving are three brothers, Rayford Ervin of Clover, Coley Ervin Jr. of York, and Wayne Ervin of Rock Hill; and his sister, Linda Justice of Clover.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Joseph Erkes Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Joseph Peter Erkes Jr., 83, of 1330 India Hook Road died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at Westminster Towers.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Susan Denne officiating.

A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Erkes was a son of the late Joseph Peter Erkes Sr. and Mary Stuart Beverland Erkes. Mr. Erkes was retired from Hoechst-Celanese Corp., where he worked in research and development. He was a 1939 graduate of Penn State University. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Frank Roach American Legion Post 34.

Surviving are his brother, George Erkes of Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; his sister, Elizabeth E. Moore of Rock Hill; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will be at the home of his sister, Elizabeth E. Moore, 1222 Hermitage Road, Rock Hill.

FORT MILL - Mr. Marvin Gene Howe, 56, of 107 Thomas Ave. died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roland Dry officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Cherokee County, Mr. Howe was a son of the late George Howe and Velma Clark Howe. He was employed with Charlotte Pipe and Foundry and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Hallie Davis Howe; his son, Adrian Brown of Fort Mill; four daughters, Chandra Gladden of Lancaster, Marsha Cuellar of Rock Hill, Jeanie Snyder of Ranlo, N.C., and Teresa Smith of Lincolnton, N.C.; his brother, Howard Howe of Fort Mill; three sisters, Mary Lyons and Doris Davis, both of Charlotte, and Betty Howe Finley of Fort Mill; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at home.

David Wilson Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. David R. "Whip" Wilson Sr., 65, of 1254 Nalley Road died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 7 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating. Burial will be private.

A native of Lincoln County, N.C., Mr. Wilson was a son of the late Arlo H. Wilson and Georgia Abernathy Wilson. He was a utility operator and was retired from Hoescht-Celanese Corp. after 32 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served with the 52nd Airborne. He was a member of the Frank Roach American Legion Post 34.

Surviving are his son, David R.Wilson Jr. of Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany; two daughters, Kathy Lynn Pyatt of Troutman, N.C., and Krystal Wilson of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Greene Funeral Home after the memorial service.

Kaja Burgess

HAMPTON, Va. - Kaja Jamel Burgess, infant son of Jamita Love and Ross Burgess, died Sunday, July 31, 1999, in Hampton, Va.

The graveside service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Union Baptist Church in Newport, Va., with the Rev. Ronnie Baxter officiating.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his grandparents, James Q. Love of Rock Hill and James and Anita Minor of Rock Hill; his great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Love of Rock Hill and Joe L. Mc-Moore of Rock Hill.

Robinson Funeral Home in Rock Hill is in charge.
