Dale Hagan

YORK - Mr. Dale Hagan, 86, of 326 E. Jefferson St. died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Thomas McPhail officiating.

A native of Leoma, Tenn., Mr. Hagan was a son of the late Andrew Hagan and Sue Dotson Hagan. He was retired from Ford Motor Co. in Lorain, Ohio, after 25 years of service. He was an Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Ward Hagan; his son, William Hagan of Freeport, Ill.; two daughters, Vickie H. Cope of Boaz, Ala., and Sheila H. Stock of East Liverpool, Ohio; two brothers, Louie Hagan of Gastonia, N.C., and Johnnie Hagan of Washington; his sister, Ruby Hagan Porter; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the York Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 644, York, SC 29745.

Bratton Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert McCollough

EDGEMOOR - Mr. Robert Corneleius "Neil" McCollough, 23, of 5294 Wylie's Mill Road died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at a University of North Carolina hospital in Chapel Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Bethel United Methodist Church in Catawba, with the Rev. Keith Hunter officiating and the Rev. Dr. Mirian Crawford, Brother James A. Hayes and Pastor Mary Barber assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. McCollough was a son of Robert McCollough of Catawba and Daisey Cherry McCollough of Edgemoor. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He was a 1995 graduate of Lewisville High School, where he played football and basketball. He was employed by the Building Center of Pineville, N.C., as a truck driver.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two sisters, Henrietta McCollough of Edgemoor and Sha Monique McCollough of Rock Hill; and his maternal grandparents, John H. Cherry and Lillie Cherry of Catawba.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The body may be viewed from

3 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

Ruth McFadden

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ruth Miller McFadden of 332 W. Main St. died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Prospect Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.D. Montgomery officiating and the Rev. W.B. White assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery in Rock Hill.

A native of York County, Mrs. McFadden was a retired school teacher of 34 years. She was a member of Mt. Prospect Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a graduate of Friendship Junior College, formerly in Rock Hill. She received her bachelor of arts from Benedict College in Columbia, and she received her master's degree from Winthrop University.

She was a member of the Bailey Star Court No. 5 and a member of Rose of Sharon, No. 30, both Orders of Eastern Star. She received an appreciative recognition award for the Rock Hill school district. She was a deaconess of Mt. Prospect Baptist Church, a member of the women's auxiliary and a member of the choir, missionary society and the church's Woman of the Year in 1994.

Survivors are her husband, Limus McFadden; her daughter, Carolyn McFadden of the home; her grandchild; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the home. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

Cynthia Moore

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Cynthia House Moore of 1152 Mount Holly Road died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Boyd Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Thomas Barber officiating and other ministers assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of York County, Mrs. Moore was a mail clerk for Lance, Inc. She was a member of Boyd Hill Baptist Church and attended Emmett Scott High School.

Surviving are her husband, Clarence Moore; her daughter, Reeshemah Moore of Fort Mill; four sons, Clarence Lee Moore Jr., Michael Moore and Marc E. Moore, all of Rock Hill, and Terrence J. Moore of the home; her sister, Bessie Mae Whitlock of Rock Hill; two brothers, Willie Edward House and James B. House, both of Rock Hill; and 18 grandchildren.

The body will be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence.

The body will be placed in the church 1 p.m. Monday.

Frank Morris

ROCK HILL - Mr. Frank James Morris, 82, of 1239 Meadowlakes Road died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at his home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. William Pentis officiating.

A native of Stoneham, Mass., Mr. Morris was a son of the late Hum-phrey Morris and Mary Margaret McGaffigan Morris. Mr. Morris was a retired Internal Revenue Service agent.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Mayo Morris; his son, Richard J. Morris of Charlotte; two daughters, Barbara M. Barnes of Carlsbad, N.M., and Linda M. Ingram of Rock Hill; two brothers, Robert A. Morris of Stone-ham, Mass., and John H. Morris of Tweksbury, Mass.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Lucille Cribb

LANCASTER - Mrs. Lucille Bennett Cribb, 70, of 2273 John Everall Road died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Rogers officiating. Burial will be at the Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Kershaw.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Cribb was a daughter of the late David B. and Sadie Robertson Bennett. She was retired from Springs Industries.

Surviving are two sons, Roddey Kenneth Mackey of Heath Springs and Timothy Bennett Mackey of Lancaster; three daughters, Rosemary Amanda Hammonds of Lancaster, Patty Broughton and Gail Terry, both of Kershaw; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1142, Lancaster, SC 29721.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, and at other times at the home of Rosemary Hammonds, 2127 John Everall Road, Lancaster.

Kerry Lucas

LANCASTER - Ms. Kerry Anne Lucas, 28, of 2492 Dudley Steele Road died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Memorial services will be at a later date.

A native of Lancaster, Ms. Lucas was a daughter of Jane Steele Lucas of Lancaster and the late Billy Lee Lucas Sr. She was a member of Unity ARP Church. She was an honor graduate of Buford High School, where she was a member of the Beta Club. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Scholastic Order and was a dean's list student at York Technical College.

Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters, Ciera Watts and Taryn Watts, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Billy Lee Lucas Jr. and Steven D. Lucas, both of Lancaster; two sisters, Tammy Lucas Smith of Charlotte and Kelly Lucas Laney of Lancaster; her paternal grandmother, Geneva R. Lucas of Lancaster; and her maternal great-grandparents, Harold and Billie Steele of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her mother, Jane Steele Lucas, 2633 Kendlewood Drive, Lancaster.

LANCASTER - Ms. Leona Railey, 94, of 1191 Potter Road died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Camp Creek Baptist Church, with the Revs. Cecil Johnson and David Taylor officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Kershaw, Ms. Railey was a daughter of David Preston Railey and Sarah Elizabeth Outen Railey. A homemaker, Ms. Railey was a member of Heath Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Jessie Polston of Lancaster; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

James Sparnell

YORK - Mr. James R. Sparnell, 72, of York, formerly of Charlotte, died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hankins & Whittington Dilworth Chapel. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Spartanburg, Mr. Sparnell was a son of the late Curtis Jenkins Sparnell and Willie Mae Bridge Sparnell. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Assembly of God and retired from GMC Trucking Sales, where he was shop foreman.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Sparnell; his daughter, Rhonda Benfield of Charlotte; four sons, Gene Sparnell, Keith Sparnell and Mike Sparnell, all of York, and Robbie Sparnell of Kannapolis, N.C.; two sisters, Frances Gardner and Ann Godfrey; his brother, Gene Sparnell; and 17 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Hankins & Whittington, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte.

Margaret Starnes

HEATH SPRINGS - Mrs. Margaret Rollings Starnes, 82, of Hula Drive died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Fork Hill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Benjamin Simmons and James Adams officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Starnes was a daughter of the late Sebron Rollings and Maggie Vick Rollings. She was the widow of James Starnes Jr. A homemaker, she was a member of Fork Hill Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Faithful Workers class and a member of the Senior Citizens Fort Hill Group.

Surviving are eight sons, Franklin Brice Starnes of Rock Hill, James Starnes Jr., Ernest Starnes and Ray Starnes, all of Lancaster, Donald Starnes of Leesburg, Ga., Jackie Starnes of Summerton, Richard Starnes of Albany, Ga., and Wayne Starnes of Columbus, Ga.; four daughters, Maggie Bell Craig and Linda McManus, both of Kershaw, Betty Ann Laney of Pageland and Peggy Flowers of Lancaster; two sisters, Rae Taylor and Mae Gainer, both of Lancaster; 26 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home and at other times at the home of James Starnes Jr, 5772 Flat Creek Road, Heath Springs.

Luvate Tate

CHARLOTTE - Ms. Luvate Tate, 84, of 1410 Norma St., formerly of York County, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at Forsythe Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at New Home AME Zion Church in York, with the Rev. Dr. C.J. Jenkins officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Ms. Tate was a daughter of the late Walter Tate and Alice Hinton Tate. A homemaker, she was a member of Liberty Hill AME Zion Church, where she was a member of the Church Aid Society.

Surviving are her daughter, Magdalene Gaither of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Christine Tate of the home and Francine Star and Pearlee Pettis, both of Gastonia, N.C.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday at New Home AME Zion Church.

Charlie Young

WASHINGTON - Mr. Charlie Young died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at Washington Home Hospice.

The funeral is today at New Southern Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Rudolph White officiating. Burial will be at Harmony Memorial Park.

Surviving are his wife, Mary A. Young; two children, Walter Young and Ermyn Roberts; four sisters, Bleaker Blake of Rock Hill, Mae Ola Chisolm of Plainfield, N.J., Francina Joyner of Staten Island, N.Y., and Virginia Moore of New York; and four grandchildren.
