Carrie Adams

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mrs. Carrie Belle "Tiny" Collins Adams, 49, of 508 N. Broad St. died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at the New Mills Chapel F.B.H. Church in Gastonia, with Elder A.J. Lindsay and the Rev. Larry Watson officiating. Burial will be at the Hollywood Cemetery.

Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Chapel F.B.H. Church in Gastonia, where she was a district evangelist and president of the mission.

Surviving are her husband, Alex-ander Adams; three sons, Tony L. Collins, Lamark Adams and Kenny Adams, all of Gastonia; her mother, Annie L. Collins of Rock Hill; three sisters, Gearldine Smith of Rock Hill, Pearline C Huitt of Gastonia and Mary G. Watson of Dallas, N.C.; five brothers, Johnny J. Collins of Florida, Bobby L. Collins of Providence, Va., Scott Collins Jr. and Ernest P. Collins, both of Gastonia and U. Gary Collins of Charlotte; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for one hour before the funeral.

Costner Funeral Home in Gastonia is in charge.

Eunice McGowan

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Eunice Hubbard McGowan, 88, of 128 Piedmont Ave. died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Greene Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Charlotte, Mrs. McGowan was a daughter of the late Tom and Ivey Summerville Hubbard. She was retired from the J.P. Stevens Aragon plant and was of the Presbyterian faith.

Mrs. McGowan was the widow of Mack C. McGowan.

Surviving are her son, Bobby McGowan of Lyman; two daughters, Brenda M. Werner of Green Cove Springs, Fla., and Betty M. Butler of Charlotte; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 this afternoon at Greene Funeral Home.

Grace Smith

LANCASTER - Mrs. Grace T. Smith, 97, of Fort Pierce, Fla., died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at Palm Gardens of Vero Beach.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mahaffey Funeral Home in Lancaster, with the Rev. Williamson Needham officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Danville, Va. She lived in Lancaster before moving to Fort Pierce 10 years ago.

She retired as a registered nurse from Danville Hospital, in Danville, Va. While in Lancaster, she was a member of the Lancaster Social Club and First United Methodist Church. In Fort Pierce, she was a member of Lakewood Park United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her sister, Alice Dodd, of Fort Pierce.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Stella Cameron

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Stella Tadlock Cameron, 84, of 384 Chestnut St. died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at White Oak Manor.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lando Cemetery, with the Rev. William Stroud officiating.

Mrs. Cameron was a homemaker and was a member of the Civics Club. She was a former member of of White Street Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for more than 25 years. She also was a member of the church choir and member of the Annie Armstrong Circle.

Mrs. Cameron was the daughter of the late William M. Tadlock and Pearl Allen Tadlock.

Survivors include her husband, Walter L. Cameron; her son, Ronald L. Cameron of Horatio; and two brothers, Harold Tadlock of Lando and Billy Ray Tadlock of Greenville.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, is in charge.

Lucille Cribb

LANCASTER - Lucille Cribb, 70, of 2273 John Everall Road died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, with the Rev. Gary Rogers officiating. Burial will be at the Center Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Kershaw.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Cribb was a daughter of the late David B. and Sadie Robertson Bennett. She was retired from Springs Industries.

Surviving are her two sons, Roddey Kenneth Mackey of Heath Springs and Timothy Bennett Mackey of Lancaster; three daughters, Rosemary Amanda Hammonds of Lancaster and Patty Broughton and Gail Terry, both of Kershaw; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Rosemary Hammonds, 2127 John Everall Road in Lancaster.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1142, Lancaster, SC 29721.

William Lucas Sr.

CHESTER - Mr. William W. "Buster" Lucas Sr., 63, of 909 Davis Drive died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Lucas was a native of Lancaster. He retired from the state Department of Highways and Public Transportation as a right-of-way agent. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he attended the Agoga Sunday school class.

Mr. Lucas graduated from Chester High School. He was the son of the late Hazel Lucas and Rosie Fairfax Lucas.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret S. Lucas; two sons, William W. "Lee" Lucas and Jonathan Lucas, both of Chester; his daughter, Christi Gettys of Rock Hill; and two brothers, Robert Lucas Sr. and Tony Lucas, both of Chester.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 518, Chester, SC 29706.

Otto Adams

ROCK HILL - Mr. Otto Hazel Adams, 89, of 1036 Myrtle Drive died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Beverly Health Care.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Linda Dunn officiating.

Mr. Adams was a native of Kershaw County. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 111 and the York Rights. He was past president of the Crescent Shrine Club of York County and was a member of the Hejaz Temple for 32 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elks Club.

Mr. Adams was a World War II veteran. He retired from Rock Hill Printing Finishing as a foreman. He was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church since 1967.

He was the son of the late Hoyt and Ada Hinson Adams.

Surviving is his wife, Marie Adams of the home, three nieces, and his nephew.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 today at Bass Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Horace Allen

CONWAY - Mr. Horace Grant Allen, 64, of the Bakers Chapel area of Horry County, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mr. Allen was a native of Aynor. He attended Zion Pentecostal Holiness Church and was employed by Goodson Construction in Aynor.

He was the son of the late Archie E. and Luttie Johnson Allen.

Surviving are his wife, Norma H. Allen; his son, Richard G. Allen of Aynor; his daughter, Terry Maynor of Aynor; five brothers, Eugene Allen and Mack Allen, both of Rock Hill, Wilbert Allen and Larry Allen, both of Conway, and Charles Allen of Aynor; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

John Buchanan Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. John Edmond Buchanan Jr., 59, of 4183 Buice Dr. died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Fort Mill, with the Revs. Ralph Riley and Jeff Bedwell officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill.

A native of York County, Mr. Buchanan was a son of John E. "Jack" Buchanan Sr. and the late Ila Grace Buchanan.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant. He served two tours during the Vietnam War. He was employed with General Tire as a set-up technician. He attended First Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Kathy Hargrove Buchanan of Rock Hill; two daughters, Lisa Kathleen Birch of Gastonia, N.C., and Traci Elaine Martin of Charlotte; his father, John E. "Jack" Buchanan Sr., of Fort Mill; his brother, Stewart R. Buchanan of Bennettsville; his sister Janice Neely of Fort Mill; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at First Baptist Church and other times at the home.

Lindsay Gillespie

ROCK HILL - Miss Lindsay Brock Gillespie, 14, of James Island, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999 in Charleston, W.Va.

A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. today at Mount Holly United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mike Rouse officiating.

She is a daughter of David Gillespie Jr. of York, and Mr. and Mrs. Alan Johnson of James Island.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her brother David Lindsay Gillespie III of James Island; her sister Rachael Brown of James Island; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Gillespie Sr. of Rock Hill; and her maternal grandfather Stuart Brown of Lexington, N.C.

The family will receive friends at 1869 Mt. Holly Road, Rock Hill.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mattie Hamm

CHESTER - Mrs. Mattie Louise Crowder Hamm, 59, of 3772 Fishing Creek Road died Friday, Aug. 13., 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Revs. Larry Williams and Carl Williams officiating.

Mrs. Hamm was a native of Rock Hill. She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal.

She was the daughter of the late Clyde Young and Mattie Pope Crowder.

Surviving are her son, James Gerald Jennings Jr. of McCormick; three daughters Sylvia A. O'Berry and Barbara Starnes, both of Chester, and Phyllis Louise Overstreet of Swainsboro, Ga.; her sister, Jacqueline Robinson of Lesslie; 10 grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Albert Mitchell

ROCK HILL-Mr. Albert Mitchell of 319 High St. died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Parker Funeral Home is in charge.

Estelle Plyler

LANCASTER - Mrs. Estelle Williams Plyler, 90, of 3041 Pink Plyler Road died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Union Regional Hospital in Monroe, N.C.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hopewell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Hopper officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Plyler was a native of Chesterfield County. She retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Frank and Marcie Marie Robinson Williams. She was the widow of Earl Plyler.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Phillips of Monroe; two sons, Charles W. Funderburk of Spindale, N.C., and the Rev. Donald F. Funderburk of Lake Junaluska, N.C.; two sisters, Oletha Mullis of Waxhaw, N.C., and Mildred Smith of Camden; two brothers, Gilbert Williams of Virginia, and R.D. Williams of Liberty Hill; six grandchildren and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.
