Ann Aldridge

LANCASTER - Mrs. Ann Bell Vincent Aldridge, 81, of 1143 Skipper Ave. died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Rev. Allen Brazell officiating.

A native of Kershaw, Mrs. Aldridge was a daughter of the late Samuel and Ida Reeves Vincent. She was the widow of Marvin Aldridge. Mrs. Aldridge was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church and was retired from Springs Industries. She was a volunteer with the Red Cross.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Carol Baker

CHESTER - Mrs. Carol Woods Baker, 73, of 551 Pryor St. died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Greg Keller officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of York County, Mrs. Baker was a daughter of the late James Perry Woods and Virginia Porter Woods. A homemaker, she was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and attended the Chester County schools.

Surviving are her husband, Hazel Baker; her daughter, Linda Fordham of Chester; her brother, William R. Woods of Johnson City, Tenn.; three sisters, Margaret W. Privette of Columbia, Lucy W. Weir of Chester and Martha W. McWatters of Charlotte; and her grandson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene Family Life Center, 182 Pinckney St., Chester, SC 29706.

Kathryn Bond

CHARLESTON - Mrs. Kathryn Kelly Bond, 62, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at a local hospital.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. James Episcopal Church. Burial will be private.

A native of Altoona, Pa., Mrs. Bond was a daughter of the late Herbert W. Kelly and Mary Blair Tyler Kelly. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. She was a retired sight coordinator with Island Internal Medicine. She was a member of Chi Omega and a former champion swimmer with the Atlanta Athletic Club.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Eugene Bond; two sons, Donald Eugene Bond Jr. of Indianapolis and Michael Tyler Bond of Charleston; her daughter, Susan B. Halsema of Rock Hill; her brother, Edward Tyler Kelly of Knoxville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Vera Hinson

SHARON - Ms. Vera Hope Hinson, 81, of 1309 S.C. 97 died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at her home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church in Sharon, with the Rev. Gene Thompson officiating, and the Rev. George Bush assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Ms. Hinson was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lena Alexander. She was retired from Rock Hill Printing Finishing Co. and attended Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church.

She was the widow of Rufus Hope and Grover Hinson.

Surviving are three sons, David Hope of Union, Bob Hope of Sharon and Tommy Hope of Hickory Grove; four daughters, Rose Maddy of Dallas, N.C., and Faye Scoggins, Joan Horton and Linda Rochester, all of Sharon; two brothers, Fred Alexander of Clover and Lindsay Alexander of Kings Mountain, N.C.; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 7386 Lockhart Road, Sharon, SC 29742; or Hickory Grove Life Saving Squad, P.O. Box 224, Hickory Grove, SC 29717.

Kenneth Lindner

LANCASTER - Chaplain Kenneth Martin Lindner, LTC, U.S. Army (Ret.), 93, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

A private graveside service will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

A native of Edinburgh, Scotland, Mr. Lindner was a son of the late Adolf Herman Lindner and Lucy Sybil Martin Lindner. He was the widower of Edith Caroline Barth Lindner. He received his commission in the U.S. Army as chaplain in 1944 having attended Chaplain's School at Harvard University. He also earned his master's degree in English from Marshall University and later became a faculty member.

During his military career, he served at Camp Van Dorn in Miss-issippi, South Camp Hood and was in the advance party that landed at Omaha Beach. He was later stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., and Governor's Island, N.Y.

Mr. Lindner also served at several churches in Fayetteville, N.C., and one in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the American Legion Stafford Graham Post No. 51, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Military Chaplin Association and a lifetime member of Retired and Reserve Officers Association.

Surviving are two nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Lancaster Children's Home and Elon College Children's Home.

Charles Okey Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Charles L. Okey Jr., 85, of 871 Sumter Ave. died Tuesday, September 7, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. William Pender officiating.

A native of Chicago, Mr. Okey was a son of the late Charles Lamb Okey and Margaret Riley Okey. He attended The Citadel and graduated from Davidson College in Davidson, N.C. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Order.

Mr. Okey served in World War II as an U.S. Army Infantry Captain in the Pacific Theater. He was a long-time member and deacon at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of the Rock Hill Rotary Club and assisted with special projects at the Rock Hill YMCA and at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church. Mr. Okey was president of Okey Lumber Co.

Surviving are his wife, Christine Cauthen Okey; two sons, Charles L. Okey III of Hendersonville, N.C., and Phillip C. Okey of Rock Hill; three daughters, Christine O. Williamson and Margaret O. Anderson, both of Rock Hill, and Susan O. McLeod of Greenville; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, 421 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

The family will be at home.

Sadie Rape

LANCASTER - Mrs. Sadie Irene Sweatt Rape, 82, of 502 N. Catawba St. died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Needham Williamson officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Chesterfield County, Mrs. Rape was a daughter of the late Minor L. Sweatt and Ada Knight Sweatt. She was the widow of W.H. Rape. She was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her brother, Bill Sweatt of Mount Croghan and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Robert Russell

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Mr. Robert Taylor Russell, 80, of Alexandria, Va., died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at Mount Vernon Hospital.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill, with the Rev. Joe Tysinger officiating.

A native of Philadelphia, Mr. Russell was a son of the late Alfred Roy Russell and Pauline Thomas Russell. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He graduated from Rennsalaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. He retired in 1980 from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where he was an aerospace engineer.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Parks Russell; two sons, Robert T. Russell Jr. and Michael T. Russell; and seven grandchildren.

Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill is in charge.

Hazel Simril

GREEN SEA - Mr. Hazel Bernard "HB" Simril, 84, of Green Sea, formerly of Rock Hill, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at home.

A memorial service was Sunday at Green Sea Baptist Church. A graveside service was Monday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Boyce Wilson officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Simril was a son of the late Leslie Huron Smith and Mamie Smith. He was the owner and operator of Simril's Grocery Store in Rock Hill. He was a retired mechanic with Celanese Corp. and a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Stewart Simril; his daughter, Hazel Ann Childers of Folly Beach; two step daughters, Tommie Nobles and Gayle Roberts Smyers, both of North Myrtle Beach; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice of Horry County, P.O. Box 1409, Myrtle Beach, SC 29758.

Mary Agurs

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Mrs. Mary Frances Agurs died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at home.

The funeral was Tuesday at Allyne AME Zion Church in Alexandria.

Mrs. Agurs was the widow of the Rev. Edward R. Agurs, formerly of Rock Hill.

Surviving are six children, Gloria Rucker, Brenda Agurs, Sharon Agurs, Edna M. Hicks, Dorothy Agurs and James Agurs; five stepsons, Melvin Agurs, Rickie Agurs, Marvin Agurs, Jerome Heath and Kenneth Heath; and four stepdaughters, Clara Marie Douglas, Audrey Hunt, Evelyn Hinton and Barbara Johnson.

Green Funeral Home of Alexandria is in charge of arrangements.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Raymond Bullard

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Mr. Raymond T. Bullard, 80, of 406 Tate Terrace died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 4 p.m. today at Eastview Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Hamrick officiating.

A native of Garden Valley, Texas, Mr. Bullard was a son of the late C.R. Bullard and Samantha Jane Parton Bullard. He was a member of Missionary Methodist Church in Kings Mountain. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Serenity Club for 14 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mozelle Lovelace Bullard; two sons, John L. Bullard of Aster, Fla., and Capt. Raymond C. Bullard of Nieeville, Fla.; two daughters, Linda Bullard Elkins of Rock Hill and Annie Bullard Lowe of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Mary Bullard Baker and Edna Bullard James, both of Waco, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain is in charge.

Eileen Russell

BOONE, N.C. - Mrs. Eileen Jestes Russell, 86, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at Sloop Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Austin Barnes Funeral Home chapel, with Mr. Kenneth Caswell officiating. Burial will follow in the Jestes family cemetery.

Mrs. Russell was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker.

Surviving are two sons, William Ralph Russell of Valle Crucis, N.C., and Richard Russell of Clover; three daughters, Mozelle Compton of Roanoke, Va., Fran Meade of Rock Hill and Judy Overman of Charlotte; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3109 Oplarwood Court, Raleigh, NC 27604.

Rhonda Fitzgerald

YORK - Ms. Rhonda K. "Sheeba" Fitzgerald, 40, of 1515 S.C. 324 died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Saturday at the home.

Surviving are her husband, Allen Ray "Snake" Fitzgerald; her son, Gesing Yow Tong of Michigan; her daughter, Isha May Tong of Michigan; her stepdaughter, Stevie Rhiannon Fitzgerald of Rock Hill; her parents, James Randall Lennard of Florida and Donna Jean Neibarger Lennard of Lancaster, Texas; her sister, Donna Lauri of Leander, Texas; and her brother, Ron Lennard of Iowa.

Goldie Johnson

CHESTER - Mrs. Goldie Hall Johnson, 69, of 641 Still St. died Thurs-day, Sept. 9, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Whitmire, Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of the late Fred Hall and Mary Hall. She was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and a graduate of Chester High School.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas E. Johnson; her son, Graylon Johnson of Raleigh, N.C.; two brothers, Carl Hall of Moncks Corner and Charles Hall of Sumter; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.
