Frances Johnston

LAKE WYLIE - Mrs. Frances Harper Johnston, 80, of 4786 Charlotte Highway died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at White Oak Manor in York.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Scherer Memorial Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Richard J. Lindsay officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Presbyterian Church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Johnston was daughter of the late Carl Brown Harper Sr. and Nannie Dickson Harper. She was a member of Scherer Memorial Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Winthrop College.

Surviving are her husband, William R. Johnston; her daughter, Linda J. Seitz of Lake Wylie; two brothers, James S. Harper of Fayetteville, N.C., and Carl B. Harper Jr. of Columbia; five sisters, Nell H. Dunn of Sylva, N.C., Mary Elizabeth H. Sutherland of Clinton, Millie H. Dickerson and Anne H. Bray, both of York, and Nancy H. Biggerstaff of Spartanburg; and her grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home.

Memorial may be made to Scherer Memorial Presbyterian Church, 4800 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie, SC 29710; Bethel Volunteer Fire Department, 5600 S.C. 557, Clover, SC 29710 or River Hills Emergency Squad, 4 Heritage Drive, Lake Wylie, SC 29710.

Margaret Jordan

RICHBURG - Miss Margaret Eunice Jordan, 91, of 5335 Richburg Road died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at the Rehabilitation and Health Center in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Shoals Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Clarence Fouse officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Miss Jordan was a daughter of the late Lucius Melton Jordan and Edna Drennan Jordan. She was a private music teacher and worked in a defense plant in Charlotte during World War II. She was a secretary in the Probate Judge's office until her retirement in 1973. She was a member of Cedar Shoals Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Great Falls High School and Winthrop College.

Surviving are several cousins.

The family will receive friends at the church after the service.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Shoals Cemetery Fund, 5056 Richburg Road, Richburg, SC 29729.

Princton McMahan

CHESTER - Princton "Prince" McKinzie McMahan, 14, of 110 Dye St. died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road.

McMahan was a student at Chester Middle School.

Surviving are his parents, Rose M. Tolliver and Eric McMahan; and his grandmothers, Daisy Tolliver and Gloria Jackson.

The family will receive friends at home.

Pauline Thomas

CHESTER - Mrs. Pauline Isabelle Thomas, 57, formerly of Chester, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Glorious House of Prayer for All People in Charlotte, with Bishop L.B. Garris officiating and the Rev. Annie Massey assisting. Burial will be at Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens.

A native of Concord, N.C., Mrs. Thomas was a daughter of the late Andrew Wise and Nettie McGriffe. She was a member of Mount Pilgrim True Holiness Church in Charlotte. She attended the North Carolina public schools. She was a graduate of Barber Scotia College in Concord. She attended Johnson C. Smith University and graduated from Teamer School of Religion in 1961 in Charlotte. She was a North Carolina notary public and an accountant. She was a former employee of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Transportation System.

Surviving are her husband, Floyd Thomas Sr. of Chester; her son, Floyd Thomas III of Lancaster; her daughter, Nettie R. Thomas of Lancaster; her stepson, Floyd Thomas II of Chester; two stepdaughters, Gloria Thomas and Joyce Thomas, both of Chester; two sisters, Evelyn Feaster and Dorothy Martin, both of Char-lotte; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, 3132 S. Tryon St., Charlotte.

The body may be viewed from9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., and from 5 to 9 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home, 4000 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte.

Mary Agurs

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Mrs. Mary Frances Agurs died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Allyne AME Zion Church in Alexandria.

Mrs. Agurs was the widow of the Rev. Edward R. Agurs, formerly of Rock Hill.

Surviving are six children, Gloria Rucker, Brenda Agurs, Sharon Agurs, Edna M. Hicks, Dorothy Agurs and James Agurs; five stepsons, Melvin Agurs, Rickie Agurs, Marvin Agurs, Jerome Heath and Kenneth Heath; and four stepdaughters, Clara Marie Douglas, Audrey Hunt, Evelyn Hinton and Barbara Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Green Funeral Home in Alexandria.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Della Cheek

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Della Brown Cheek, 63, of 730 Emorywood Ave. died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999 at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Westerly Hills Baptist Church in Fort Mill, with the Rev. Roger Brown officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill.

A native of Fort Mill, Mrs. Cheek was a daughter of the late James Millard Brown and Mamie DeBord Brown. She was the widow of Ralph E. Cheek. A homemaker, she was a member of the Palmetto Promenaders and Westerly Hills Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Ralph Kelly Cheek; two daughters, Norma Cheek Gardner and Della Marie Cheek Owen, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Jack G. Brown of Columbia and James Millard Brown Jr. of Lancaster; two sisters, Pearl Fowler of Richburg and Mary Sue Ramsey of Rock Hill; and her granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Westerly Hills Baptist Church and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to Westerly Hills Baptist Church, 1730 Doves Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Campbell Couick

COLUMBIA - Campbell Ney Couick, 4, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at home.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church in Columbia. Burial will be private.

Surviving are his parents, Michael and Mary Couick; his sister, Mary Marchant Couick of the home; his maternal grandmother, Mary Cole-man of Columbia; his paternal grandparents, Ney and Mary Couick of York; and his maternal great-grandmother, Justine Culler of Orangeburg.

Dunbar Funeral Home is in charge.

Raymond Bullard

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Mr. Raymond T. Bullard, 80, of 406 Tate Terrace died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at home.

A graveside service was Friday at Eastview Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Hamrick officiating.

A native of Garden Valley, Texas, Mr. Bullard was a son of the late C.R. Bullard and Samantha Jane Barton Bullard. He was a member of Missionary Methodist Church in Kings Mountain. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Serenity Club for 14 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mozelle Lovelace Bullard; two sons, John L. Bullard of Aster, Fla., and Capt. Raymond C. Bullard of Niceville, Fla.; two daughters, Linda Bullard Elkins of Rock Hill and Annie Bullard Lowe of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Mary Bullard Baker and Edna Bullard James, both of Waco, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain is in charge.

Crystal Hardin

ROCK HILL - Miss Crystal Dawn Hardin, 28, of 1220 Reese Road died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Northside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Sosebee officiating. Burial will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Gowensville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Miss Hardin was a native of Peru, Ind. She was a greeter with Wal-Mart. She served as an Easter Seals Poster Child for South Carolina in 1973 and was named South Carolina Handicapped Citizen of the Year in 1993. She was a 1991 graduate of Northwestern High School and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Surviving are her parents, Tom and Cathy Hardin; three brothers, Wade Hardin of Charlotte, Aaron Hardin and Brad Starr, both of Rock Hill; and two sisters, Marley Hardin and Denise Hardin, both of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church building fund, 1140 Curtis St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Julia Clark

ATLANTA - Mrs. Julia Mae Clark, 76, formerly of Rock Hill, died at her home.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill.

A native of Pascagoula, Miss., Mrs. Clark was a daughter of the late Harry Stiglets and Madge Larsen Corbett. She was the widow of Laurendine Clark. She was a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church in Atlanta and attended The Oratory in Rock Hill.

Surviving are two sons, Harry Frank Clark of Byron, Ga., and L.T. "Dean" Clark of Winterville, N.C.; two daughters, Cathy Bradley of York and Lucy Worrell of Houston; two sisters, Vivian Null of Burnett, Texas, and Gracie Smith of Hoboken, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

Helen Houston

YORK - Mrs. Helen Alderman Houston, 67, of York, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, in New Mexico.

The funeral will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point, N.C. Burial will be at Floral Garden Park Ceme-tery.

Mrs. Houston was employed with Eastern Airlines.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas Houston; her mother, Fannie L. Alderman of Greensboro, N.C.; and her sister, Jean Emerson of Greensboro.

John Bramlett Jr.

CHESTER - Mr. John Wesley Bramlett Jr., 60, of 1541 Hardin Strait Road died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Capers Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Chris Snelgrove and Roger Thompson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mr. Bramlett was a son of the late John W. Bramlett Sr. and Lucille Boulware Bramlett. He was the owner and operator of Bramlett's Construction Co. He was a member of Capers Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Chester High School and attended the University of South Carolina. He was a member of Sandy River Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy B. Bramlett; three sons, Wes Bramlett of Little Rock, Ark., John Bramlett of Rock Hill and Chad Bramlett of Chester; his daughter, Kim Jones of York; his brother, Frank Bramlett of Rock Hill; four sisters, Frances Stephenson of Chester, Ellen Clarke of Columbia, Sarah Metz of Greer and Alice Rawls of Chapin; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Jerry Davis Sr.

CHESTER - Mr. Jerry Louis "J.D." Davis Sr., 41, of 513 Swift St. died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Friendship Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.E. Page officiating and the Revs. John Heath, W.H. Woods and Connie Richmond assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, he was the son of Perry Davis and Macie Chalk Davis. He was owner and operator of Davis and Sons Trucking Co. in Chester. He joined St. Paul Halselville Baptist Church and later joined Friendship Baptist Church. He graduated from Chester High School and York Technical College.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Bridgett L. Davis; two sons, Jerry L. Davis Jr. and Quinton Davis, both of Chester; three daughters, Contian McFadden of Lancaster and Crystal Davis and Delorian Davis, both of Chester; five brothers, Howard Davis and Eric Davis, both of Chester, James Davis of Alabama, Ray Davis of Texas and T. Anthony Davis of Lexington; two sisters, Curlene Crank and Linda Worthy, both of Charlotte; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 106 Cusham Drive, Chester.

Auber Faulk

CHESTER - Mr. Auber Faulk, 81, of 622 Sander St., died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wright's Home for Funerals, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill.

A native of Robeson County, N.C., he was a son of the late Walter Faulk and Charity Faulk. He was a retired service technician with Suburban Propane Gas Co. in Rock Hill.

Surviving are his wife, Katie Bruce Faulk; two sons, Gene Faulk and Carl Faulk, both of Rock Hill; two stepdaughters, Patsy Rash and Donna Varnadore, both of Chester; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wright's Home for Funerals.

William Featherstone

FORT LAWN - Mr. William Henry Featherstone, 79, of 5248 Lancaster Highway died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Elmwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Ted Hodges officiating.

A native of Chester County, he was a son of the late Richard Henry Featherstone and Sadie Curry Featherstone. He was retired from Lowenstein Corp. and was of the Baptist faith. He was a World War II veteran.

Surviving are two brothers, Ralph Featherstone of Williston and Richard D. Featherstone of Fort Lawn; and his sister, Agnes Corley of Columbia.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home in Lancaster and at other times at the home of his brother, Richard Featherstone, 5149 Lancaster Highway, Fort Lawn, SC 29714.
