Margaret Bemis

CHERRYVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Margaret Jones Bemis, 77, of 201 C St. died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Cleveland County Regional Medical Center in Shelby, N.C.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at City Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Keith Love officiating.

A native of Lincoln County, N.C., Mrs. Bemis was a daughter of Bessie Mull Hudson of Cherryville and the late W.E. Mull.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are seven sons, Lester Jones and Gene Ray Jones, both of Sharon, and Russell Jones, Arnold Jones, Pete Jones, Jerry Jones and David Jones, all of Cherryville; two daughters, Katherine J. Mull of Shelby, and Diane Jones of Cherryville; her stepdaughter, Tammy Peace of Westview, N.Y.; 22 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

The body will be taken to the home at 1 p.m. today, where the family will receive friends.

Carpenter's Funeral Home is in charge.

Taylor Loncaric

CLOVER - Taylor Cameron Loncaric, infant child of Rob and Becky Loncaric of 104 Knox St., died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be private.

Surviving in addition to the parents are four brothers, Kipp Ellis, Chris Ellis, Stuart Ellis and Dylan Loncaric, all of Clover; a sister, Makayla Loncaric of Clover; maternal grandparents, Glenn and Helen Cagle of High Shoals, N.C. and paternal grandparents, Bob and Sue Loncaric of Pennsylvania.

M.L. Ford and Sons is in charge.

Andrew Bell Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Andrew Jackson "Jack" Bell Jr., 75, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Paul Blake officiating.

Mr. Bell was a son of the late Dora Perdue and Andrew J. Bell Sr. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II. He worked for JP Stevens Industrial Plant for 35 years and was retired from Lance Inc. of Charlotte. Mr. Bell was a member of the Christian Baptist Church and was the former owner/operator of Bell's Used Cars.

Surviving are his son, Terry Howe Bell of Rock Hill; two daughters, Jackie B. Jones of Granite Falls, N.C., and Linda B. Gardner of Chester; his brother, Carlton Bell of Rock Hill; two sisters, Nathalee Lucas of Rock Hill and Lula Thompson of Hampton, Va.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Greene Funeral Home from 4 to 5:30 tonight.

Memorials may be made to Christian Baptist Church, 327 S. Stonewall Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Della Cheek

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Della Brown Cheek, 63, of 730 Emorywood Ave. died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Westerly Hills Baptist Church in Fort Mill, with the Rev. Roger Brown officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill.

A native of Fort Mill, Mrs. Cheek was a daughter of the late James Millard Brown and Mamie DeBord Brown. She was the widow of Ralph E. Cheek. A homemaker, she was a member of the Palmetto Promenaders and Westerly Hills Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Ralph Kelly Cheek; two daughters, Norma Cheek Gardner and Della Marie Cheek Owen, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Jack G. Brown of Columbia and James Millard Brown Jr. of Lancaster; two sisters, Pearl Fowler of Richburg and Mary Sue Ramsey of Rock Hill; and her granddaughter, Grace Marie Youngblood, whom she raised.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to Westerly Hills Baptist Church, 1730 Doves Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Randall Hoover

ROCK HILL - Mr. Randall Franklin Hoover, 62, of 966 Spring St. died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Jesse Sims officiating and the Rev. M.G. Smith assisting. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Hoover was a son of the late Clarence Hardin and Inez Sisk Hoover. The Rock Hill native was a retiree of the Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co. after 42 years of service. He also was a member of the Grace Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine G. Hoover; his son, Randy Hoover of Fort Mill; two daughters, Debbie Graham and Denise Watson, both of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at Greene Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight and other times at the home of Denise Watson at 730 Rabun Lane.

Memorials may be made to Grace Church of the Nazarene, 1029 Mount Gallant Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Princton McMahan

CHESTER - Mr. Princton "Prince" McKenzie McMahan, 14, of 110 Dye St. died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The body will be placed in state at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Mount Prospect Baptist Church. The funeral will begin at 3 p.m., with the Rev. George Sims officiating. Interment will follow at the Black Rock Baptist Church cemetery.

He was a student at Chester Middle School and played Little League football and baseball. He was also a member of Mount Prospect Baptist Church.

Surviving are his parents, Rosie Mae Toliver and Eric McMahan; his grandparents, Charlie Mack and Daisy Lee Toliver, and Andrew and Gloria M. Jackson, all of Chester; and his cousin, La Torria Peay.

The family will receive friends at Christopher King's Funeral Home from 2 to 8:30 tonight and at other times at the home.

Eva Nunnery

EDGEMOOR - Mrs. Eva Maye Faulkenberry Nunnery, 82, of 1670 Curry Road died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 5 tonight at Lando Baptist Church, with the Dr. Richard Harrison and the Rev. Marion Dry officiating. Burial will be at Thornhill Baptist Church cemetery in Kershaw.

Mrs. Nunnery was the daughter of Olandy Lemuel and Mary Monnie Faulkenberry. She was the widow of William Albert Nunnery. She was a sales clerk at B.C. Moore Sons. She was a graduate of Heath Springs High School and was a member of the Lando Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, W. Randy Nunnery of Easley; her sister, Anna Bell Williams of Kershaw, two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 4:45 tonight in the social hall of Lando Baptist Church.

Memorial may be made to Lando Baptist Church, 3737 Lando Road, Lando, SC 29724.

Stanley Johnson

ROCK HILL - Mr. Stanley Truett Johnson, 65, of 1792 Willard Court died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Oakland Baptist Church, with Dr. Robert Shrum officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Johnson was a son of the late Amelia Hartung and Lucius Wiley Johnson Sr.

He was a retired teacher and school administrator in the Cullman City Schools in Cullman, Ala., with more than 30 years experience. He served as the principal of John Cullman Middle School from 1968 to 1985. He graduated from Clemson University and Auburn University. Mr. Johnson was an active lifetime member of the Kiwanis Club of Cullman, Ala., where a scholarship was named after him. He was district chairman of the Alabama District Key Clubs for 18 years, a member of the Cullman County Historical Society and the Alabama Education Society. He helped the Cullman County Museum, Octoberfest committee and American Field Service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Polk Johnson; two daughters, Brenda Greene of Rock Hill and Lori Fuqua of Charlotte; his brother, L.W. Johnson of Charlotte; and his sister, Julia Emanuel of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends at the residence 7 to 9 tonight.

Memorial may be made to the Sheriffs Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 240009, Montgomery, AL 36124.

Roy Beckham

CLOVER - Mr. Roy Thomas Beckham, 69, of 2443 Meadow Road died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in McConnells with the Rev. Tommy Hope officiating and the Rev. John Smith assisting. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

The son of William Bud Beckham and Ida Rebecca Beckham, Mr. Beckham was a retiree of Fixer Cannon Mills. Mr. Beckham also was a member of the First Baptist Church in McConnells.

Surviving are two sons, Roy Kenneth Beckham of Sharon and Thomas William Beckham of York; five daughters, Linda Beckham of Rock Hill, Rebecca B. Jones and Candy B. Fleming, both of Lancaster, and Debbie B. Sanders and Teresa B. Dudley, both of York; his brother, Carroll Beckham of York; five sisters, Libby Pettit of York, Eunice Lowery of Lancaster, and Sadie Varnadore, Mattie Knight and Bertha Parrish, all of Great Falls; his stepson, Roger Clontz of York; his stepdaughter, Debbie Wilson of York; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home in York.

Laura Guilford

WILSON, N.C. - Mrs. Laura C. Guilford, 72, of Wilson, N.C., died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1999.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Wilson.

Surviving are her daughter, Frances Threatt of Rock Hill; and her son, David J. Guilford of Charlotte.

Arrangements will be announced by Thomas-Yelverton Co. of Wilson.

Janett Helton

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Janett Christy Helton, 58, of 6518 Elmwood Circle died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital.

The funeral will be 7 tonight at McEwen Charlotte Chapel with the Revs. David Walker, Dick Howie and Stuart Johnson officiating. Interment will be private for the family at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

A native of Catawba County, N.C., Mrs. Helton was the daughter of Inez Christy of Terrell, N.C., and the late William A. Christy. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Lincoln County, the Adult Couples Sunday school Class and a graduate of Bandys High School. She was employed by the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and later as a secretary for Nationwide Insurance Co.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Jack Helton; her daughter, Lorie DeMarcus of Rock Hill; her son, Marty Helton of Charlotte; four sisters, Evelyn Farris and Janeva Kennerly, both of Corneilus, N.C., Mary Stewart of Terrell, N.C., and Judy Poovey of Newton, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Judy Hogue

YORK - Mrs. Judy Russell Hogue, 54, of 1220 Hord Road died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Thomas McPhail officiating. The burial will be at the church cemetery.

The York County native was the daughter of the late Earl and Gladys Latham Russell. She had worked for the York School District and was retired from the York County Auditors Office. She was a member of the Women of the Church Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church and a parent volunteer for York Comprehensive High School.

Surviving are her husband, Ronnie Hogue; two daughters, Rhonda Hogue of Rock Hill and Barbara Hogue of York; and her sister, Earline R. Hughes of Statesville, N.C.

Memorial may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Keith Morgan

LANCASTER - Mr. Keith Randall Morgan, 44, of 1031 Old Hickory Hill Drive died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel with the Rev. Hugh McKinney and the Rev. Dr. Charles Rabon officiating. Burial will be at the Kershaw City cemetery.

Mr. Morgan was the son of Smith and Mary Allen Morgan. He was a salesman and a member of the Second Baptist Church in Kershaw.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his son, Matthew Clint Morgan of Heath Springs; his daughter, Alicia Amanda Morgan of Kershaw; his brother, Ronald Smith Morgan of Henderson, Nev.; and two sisters, Kay M. Douglas of Lancaster and June M. McCoy of Lexington.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel and at the home of Mary A. Morgan, 200 W. 4th St., Kershaw.

Gwendolyn Beck

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Gwendolyn "Gwen" Jewel Parks Beck, 67, of 2030 Reservation Road, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catawba Ward, with Bishop Pieter Reynders officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Monroe, N.C., Mrs. Beck was a daughter of the late Grady Parks and Sarah Hargett Parks. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catawba Ward. She was retired from the Rock Hill Convalescent Center where she worked as a nursing assistant. She also worked at York General Hospital.

Surviving are her husband, Fletcher B. Beck; her son, Mitchell Wayne Beck of Rock Hill; four daughters, Sandra Foushee of Charlotte; and Diana Marthers, Debbie Beck, and Angie Padgett, all of Rock Hill; her sister, Joyce Roach of Clover;

10 grandchildren; and her great-grandson.

The body will be taken home at 10 a.m. today where the family will receive friends.
