CLOVER - Mrs. Nina Florine Ruth Buckner, 83, of 1151 Faulkner Road died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Mrs. Buckner was the widow of Norman Buckner.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Anders-Rice Funeral Home in Asheville, N.C.

Doris Gooding

WINTERVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Doris Marie Taylor Gooding of Winterville died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Winterville Baptist Church. Burial will be at Grifton Cemetery.

Mrs. Gooding was retired from the U.S. Post Office in Winterville. She was a member of Winterville Baptist Church and the Sans Souci Book Club.

Surviving are her husband, Floyd D. "Dan" Gooding; her son, Michael F. Gooding of Rock Hill; two daughters, Carol Gooding Sumrell of Marietta, Ga., and Kay Gooding Tucker of Ayden, N.C.; her sister, Frances V. Taylor of Ayden; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Farmer Funeral Service in Ayden.

Memorials may be made to Winterville Rescue Squad or Winterville Baptist Church Library Fund.

Robert Highfill

ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert Howard Highfill, 68, of Rock Hill died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Ebenezer Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, with the Rev. Drs. Charles Foss and Blaney Pridgen officiating.

A native of Greensboro, N.C., Mr. Highfill was a member of the Epis-copal Church of Our Saviour and taught Sunday school at York Place.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Carlson Highfill; four daughters, Linda Kirkwood of Albany, Ga., Laurie Sleffel of Jacksonville, Fla., Leslie Highfill of Charlotte and Kim Howe of York; two stepsons, David Ash-worth of Minneapolis and Robert Ashworth of Franklinville, N.J.; his brother, John Highfill of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bass Funeral Home and at Church of Our Saviour after the service.

Louise Hullett

LANCASTER - Mrs. Louise Ratterree Orr Hullett, 60, of the Lancaster Convalescent Center, formerly of Richburg, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lando Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Hullett was a daughter of Janie Thorpe Ratterree of Richburg and the late Willis C. Ratterree.

Mrs. Hullett was retired from the Chester County Nursing Home where she was a nursing assistant. She was a graduate of Lewisville High School and a member of Lando Baptist Church.

She was the widow of Charles Hullett.

Surviving in addition to her mother are two sons, Robert E. Orr of Rock Hill and Richard D. Orr of Richburg; three brothers, Ted Ratterree, Tim Ratterree and Mike Ratterree, all of Richburg; and her granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Onethia McCarty

FORT MILL - Mrs. Onethia Burton McCarty, 78, of 16015 Elizabeth Berry Court died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Lakeview Living Center in Pineville, N.C.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Oakland United Methodist Church in Holland, Ark., with the Rev. Bert Powell officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Mount Vernon, Ark., Mrs. McCarty was a daughter of the late Charles O'Neil Burton and Lona Rae Burton. She was a homemaker and a member of Oakland United Methodist Church in Holland.

Surviving are her son, Giles "Larry" McCarty of Fort Mill; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Sammie Hunter

LANCASTER - Mr. Sammie Hunter, 80, of 1564 Black Oak Circle died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church, with the Revs. Larry Plyler and W.C. Wallace officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Hunter was a son of the late Jim Butler and Sallie H. Hunter. Mr. Hunter was retired from Springs Industries. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and Hart Masonic Lodge No. 380.

Surviving is his wife, Mable Lowery Hunter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Sam Jones Jr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Sam Jones Jr., 54, of 1320 Culp Landsford Road died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Darlington County, he was son of Sam Jones Sr. of Lancaster and the late Ora Mae Rogers Jones. He was employed with Springs Industries.

Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Robin Denise Massey Jones; his son, Jonathan Samuel Jones of Lancaster; and two sisters, Vera Threatt and Barbara Taylor, both of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.

James Oakley

CHESTER - James Carroll Oakley, 16, of 568 Glenn St. died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, in Chester.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Orrs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Curtis Marshall officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Cheraw, James was a son of William Oakley of Cheraw and the late Carroll Jean Grant Oakley. He was an 11th-grader at Chester High School and a member of Orrs Baptist Church. He was an employee of Bi-Lo Food Stores of Chester.

Surviving in addition to his father, are his custodial parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Grant of Chester; and his brother, Keith Oakley of Cheraw.

Memorials may be made to Orrs Baptist Church, 1266 Lancaster Road, Chester, SC 29706.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge.

Charles Peak Jr.

CHESTER - Mr. Charles Edward "Cooter" Peak Jr., 33, of 5518 Woods-ferry Road, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Daniel Chisholm officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Peak was son of Ruby Peak of Chester and the late Charles Edward Peak Sr. He was educated in Chester County schools and attended Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his stepfather, Henry Sykes of the home; three brothers, Leroy Peak of Chester, David Peak of Columbia and James Peak of the home; two sisters, Doris Belk of Chester and Mary Ann Dawkin of Union; and his grandmother, Mary Ann Peak of Wilmington, Del.

The family will receive friends at home.

Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, is in charge.

Noland Snelling

ROCK HILL - Mr. Noland Philip Snelling, 61, of India Hook Road died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999.

A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Mr. Snelling was a son of the late David Snelling and Bernice Baynes Snelling. He was owner and operator of Noland's Bar in Rock Hill.

Surviving are three sons, David N. Snelling of Sewell, N.J., Brian B. Snelling of Buffalo, and Jason G. Snelling of Tampa, Fla.; and his brother, David Snelling of Greenwood.

Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Lenora Westmoreland

SMYRNA - Mrs. Lenora Shipton Westmoreland, 64, of 143 Lenora Road in the Kings Creek Community died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Kings Mountain Hospital in Kings Mountain, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smyrna Baptist Church, with the Revs. Perrin Parker and Brenda Gladden officiating. Burial will be at Canaan United Methodist Church cemetery.

A native of Cherokee County, Mrs. Westmoreland was a daughter of the late Johnny Shipton and Sarah Lovelace Shipton. She was the widow of William Westmoreland.

Surviving are four sons, Henry "Bubber" Hollins, Billy "Peroone" Westmoreland, Manuel Westmoreland and Robert Hollins, all of Smyrna; her stepson, Mark Westmoreland Sr. of Smyrna; four daughters, Betty Martin and Joann Tessner, both of Blacksburg, Maryann Peeler of Gaffney, and Patty Cook of Oakmon, Ala.; two brothers, Fred Shipton of Lugoff and Ernest Shipton of Sumter; two sisters, Nellie Peterson of Smyrna and Virginia Lagas of Pensacola, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at White Columns Funeral Service in Blacksburg.

Albert Davis Sr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Albert Lee Davis Sr., 77, of 1640 Ruth St., formerly of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill, with the Revs. Larry Plyler and Chad Eric Davis officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Kershaw, Mr. Davis was a son of the late Simon E. Davis and Lillian McDonald Davis. He was retired from Lance, Inc., in Charlotte with more than five years service. He was formerly employed at Pepsi Bottling Plant in Rock Hill for more than 20 years. He was an U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 144 in Belmont.

Surviving are his wife, Jessie Roberts Davis; seven sons, Albert L. Davis Jr. of Belmont, N.C., Kendrick Davis and Paul "Mikey" Davis, both of Lexington, Marion "Pete" Davis and Charles Davis, both of Rock Hill, Sherril "Timmy" Davis of Lincolnton, N.C., and Cecil Raulerson of Fort Myers, Fla.; four daughters, Emily Gilbert and Sherrie West, both of Rock Hill, Dora Hensley of Lancaster and Janet Grigg of Mount Holly, N.C.; two sisters, Sarah Twitty of Bishopville and Betty Demby of Lancaster; two brothers, Oscar Davis of Lancaster and Howard Davis of Campobello; 26 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at 1640 Ruth St.

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Mr. Albert V. Demerse died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Collins Funeral Home in Silver Spring, Md. Burial will be private.

Surviving are his fiancee, Linda DeDad; his children, Muirae D. Owens, Andrew DeDad, Cara Witmer and Mike Witmer; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Collins Funeral Home.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Carrie Bell Beheler Jenkins, 93, of 130 Briarwood Drive died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Beverly Health Care.

The funeral will be 7 p.m. tonight at Bass Funeral Home, with the Rev. John E. Jenkins officiating. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Gaston Memorial Park. In case of severe weather, the graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Gaston Memorial Park.

A native of Cliffside, N.C., Mrs. Jenkins was a daughter of the late John David Beheler and Dora Emmaline Jenkins. She was the widow of Meek Ervin Jenkins. A homemaker, she was a member of Second Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Gastonia, N.C., and a member of Love Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, the Rev. John E. Jenkins of Rock Hill and J. Don Jenkins of Gastonia, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at home.
