Lou Jordan

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lucille "Lou" Blair Jordan, 88, of Spring Arbor died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. today at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Harold "Bo" Coleman officiating. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. at Oakland Baptist Church chapel.

A native of Hartwell, Ga., Mrs. Jordan was a daughter of the late Charles Clifford Blair and Emma Elizabeth Evans Blair. She was the widow of Edgar F. Jordan.

She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and owned Jordan Dry Cleaners. She also worked with One Hour Martinizing.

Surviving are her son, Harold F. Jordan of Cayce; two daughters, Joanne J. Kimbrell of Fort Mill and Patsy J. Cox of Rock Hill; her brother, H. Fletcher Blair of Clover; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Jim and Patsy Cox, 1193 Mary Dole Lane.

Memorials may be made to the Oakland Baptist Church Building Fund, 1067 W. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Mary Pone

BALTIMORE - Mrs. Mary E. Elem Pone, 92, of Pikesville's Nursing Home in Pikesville, Md., formerly of Chester County, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Chapel of Albert P. Wylie Funeral Home in Baltimore. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.

Surviving are her brother, Robert Elem of Baltimore; her niece, Shirley Elem of Baltimore; and her cousin, Janie Bumphers of Baltimore.

Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester, is in charge.

Robert Scoggins

ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert Glenn Scoggins, 89, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Woodland United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Scoggins was a son of the late John William Scoggins and Elizabeth Hopper Scoggins. He was a stepson of the late Willie Estelle Duncan. He was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and retired in 1975 from the Rock Hill Printing Finishing Co., where he was a foreman in the shipping department.

Mr. Scoggins was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church, where he served as lay leader, Sunday school teacher and secretary/treasurer. He was a previous member of St. John's United Methodist Church and Antioch United Meth-odist Church. He served in the Home Guard during World War II and was a former member of the Rock Hill Optimist Club and Elks Club. He was a member of the Thursday morning prayer group and a member of the Golden K. Kiwanis.

Surviving are his wife, Alice Edwards Scoggins; two sons, Robert G. Scoggins Jr. of McConnells and John L. Scoggins of Atlanta; his daughter, Susan S. Harmon of Greenville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.

Katherine Coleman

CHESTER - Mrs. Katherine "Bunt" Stokes Coleman, 84, of 163 Harris St. died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Black Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. M. Wilson Sr. officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Coleman was a daughter of the late William Wade Stokes and Annie Bell Chalk Stokes. She was the widow of Andy Coleman. She was a retired domestic employee. A member of Black Rock Baptist Church, she was a Sunday school teacher and secretary, and was a member of the Usher Board, Missionary Circle and the AP Society. She attended Chester County schools.

Surviving are her son, Rickie L. Coleman of Chester; her brother, Tommie Stokes of Chester; three nieces, Annie Howard of Summitt, N.J., and Frances Simms and Annie Ree Boler, both of Chester; and two grandchildren.

The body will lie in state at the church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the home. Denton Funeral Home is in charge.

Ruth Edwards

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ruth Neely Edwards, 87, of 1330 India Hook Road died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Westminster Health Care Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Hogg officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of York County, Mrs. Edwards was a daughter of the late Rob Neely and Minnie Branch Neely. She was a graduate of Fennell Infirmary School of Nursing and became a private duty nurse. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of J.E. Edwards.

Surviving are her two sons, Bobby Edwards and Jerry Edwards, both of Rock Hill; her sister, Sara Harmon of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and other times at the home of Jerry Edwards, 3054 Lakeland Drive in Rock Hill.

Dorothy Murhamer

SHELBY, N.C. - Mrs. Dorothy Hensley Murhamer, 56, of 912 Earl St. died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill.

A native of Madison County, N.C., Mrs. Murhamer was a daughter of the late George Andrew and Minta Landers Hensley. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her son, Kenneth Henderson of Rock Hill; her daughter, Nancy Smith of York; four step-daughters, Patricia Robeson of Jacksonville, Fla., Linda Denton and Cheryl Cameron, both of Shelton, Conn., and Cynthia Sheehy of Oxford, Conn.; three brothers, James Hensley of Gastonia, N.C., Raymond Milton Landers of Stanley, N.C., and Lawrence Hensley of Belmont, N.C.; three sisters, Alieen Clemmer of Stanley, Erline L. Henderson of Rock Hill and Betty Burleson of Shelby; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home in Shelby from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Mary Pone

Melvin Hall Sr.

CHESTER - Mr. Melvin Hall Sr., 43, of 1509 Lowry Highway died on Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, in Chester.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terrance Groom officiating and the Revs. Dr. W. G. Boulware, Mc-Kinley Woods and Charles Sanders assisting. Burial will be at Mount Zion Baptist Church cemetery in Blackstock.

Born in Chester County, Mr. Hall was the son of Geneva Turner Hall and the late Roosevelt Hall. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and later with Mount Moriah Baptist Church. A graduate of Chester High School, he received a certificate in drafting from York Technical College. He was employed by Kirby Auto Mall. He was a Dixie youth baseball coach at Dawson Drive Recreation Complex for Kirby Auto Mall, Schlegel Corp. and Chester Telephone. He also was an All Star coach.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Bessie Hall of the home; his son, Melvin Hall Jr. of the home; his daughter, Brittany Hall of the home; seven brothers, Donelle Hall of Mount Holly, N.J., and Bernard Hall, Larry Hall, Randolph Hall, Bobby Hall, Leon Hall and Eddie Hall, all of Chester; and three sisters, Maggie Mobley of Mount Holly and Sandra A. Clark and Phyllis Hall, both of Chester.

The body will lie in state at the church from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Grace Allen

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Grace Rodgers Allen, 82, of Apex, N.C., died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Apex Funeral Home in Apex, with the Rev. O. Phillip Qualls officiating. Burial will be at Apex Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late Theodore Martin Hallman and Lessie Montgomery Hallman. She moved to Apex in 1950. Mrs. Allen was a retired bridal consultant. After retirement, she provided in-home care for Alzheimer patients. She was widowed by her first husband, William Clayton "Dub" Rodgers in 1975. She was a member of Apex Baptist Church and attended Epworth United Methodist Church while in Rock Hill.

Surviving are her husband, Raymond Allen; two sons, Clayton Rodgers of Raleigh, N.C., and David Rodgers of Rock Hill; her daughter, Jane Korst of Spokane, Wash.; her sister, Jackie Brazzle; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mary Collins

YORK - Miss Mary Lodessa Collins, 38, of 108 Autumn Place died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at New Home AME Zion Church, with the Rev. C.J. Jenkins officiaiting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A homemaker, Miss Collins was a member of New Home AME Zion Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Tonya Collins of York, Crystal Collins of High Point, N.C., and Constance Collins of the home; her mother, Kathy McClain of York; her stepfather, Grady McClain of York; three brothers, Grady McClain Jr. and Willie James McClain, both of York, and Robert Lewis McClain of Raleigh, N.C.; her grandfather, Woodrow Collins of the home; her aunt who reared her, Mary Mitchell of the home; and two grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Elizabeth Durham

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Elizabeth Sides Durham, 76, of 233 Pointe Circle died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, N.C., with the Rev. Dr. William Fox officiating.

A native of Rockwell, N.C., Mrs. Durham was a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Hatley Sides. She was the widow of Calvin Durham. She was a member of Centergrove Lutheran Church in Kannapolis, N.C. She was a retired weaver at Fieldcrest Cannon Plant No. 1.

Surviving are two daughters, Marsha Tinsley of Rock Hill and Teresa Brandes of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two brothers, Martin Sides and Henry Sides, both of Rockwell, N.C.; her sister, Maggie Snider of Kan-napolis, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of South Carolina, 1817 Gadsden St., Columbia, SC 29201.

William Frazier Jr.

CHARLOTTE - Mr. William David Frazier Jr., 85, of 1537 Russell Ave. died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Salisbury, N.C.

A native of Richland, Mr. Frazier was a commercial artist and owner of Frazier Sign Co. He graduated from Friendship Junior College in Rock Hill and served in the Navy in World War II as a pharmacist mate. He was an ordained elder at First United Presbyterian Church and was active in Sunday school.

Surviving are two sons, James W. Frazier of Richmond, Va., and Donald H. Frazier of Charlotte; his daughter, Edith Frazier Spann-Bowens of Oakland, Ca.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Grier Funeral Service is in charge.

Rilla Parsons

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Rilla Boulware Parsons, 98, of Edengardens, 1611 Constitution Blvd. died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Sam Parker officiating.

A native of Winnsboro, Mrs. Parsons was a daughter of the late Samuel Boulware and Carolina Paschal Boulware. She was of the Methodist faith and was a homemaker. She was the widow of John Wesley Parsons.

Surviving are her son, Charles R. Parsons of Rock Hill; her daughter, Helen P. Yarbrough of Charlotte; her sister, Mamie B. Connell of Rock Hill; five grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.
