Maggie Allman

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Maggie Lee Stacks Allman, 85, of 17 Cauthen St. died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Wooten officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Allman was a daughter of the late Burk Stacks and Elizabeth Knight Stacks. Mrs. Allman was member of Garden Sanctuary Church of God. She was a seamstress who made clothing for Barbie dolls.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas A. "Mutt" Allman; her daughter, Karen L. Allman of Rock Hill; her brother, Arthur B. Stacks of Lancaster; two sisters, Nettie Rogers of Rock Hill and Mettie Stacks of Lancaster; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Harold Edwards

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Harold Scott Edwards, 50, formerly of Zebulon, N.C., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Massey Funeral Home. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Edwards was a son of Ethel Edwards of Zebulon and the late Atlas J. Edwards. He recently retired from L.E. Ham Painting Co., where he served as vice president.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Linda G. Edwards; his daughter, Rebecca Edwards of the home; his son, Gregory Scott Edwards of the home; his sister, Mary Kathryn Whitley of Zebulon; and two brothers, Jerry Edwards of Spring Hope and Gary Edwards of Zebulon.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today at the funeral and at other times at the home of Ethel Edwards, 2224 Shepherd School Road, Zebulon.

Nancy Gaston

FLAT ROCK, N.C. - Mrs. Nancy Neely Gaston, 70, of 1156 W. Blue Ridge Road died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999, at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, N.C.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel at Bonclarken Conference Center in Flat Rock, with the Revs. Charles B. Evans III and Mark McClamrock officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Gaston was a daughter of the late John Harley Neely Sr. and Nannie Craig Barnette Neely. Mrs. Gaston was a graduate of Winthrop College with a degree in guidance and home economics. She was a member of Pinecrest ARP Church in Flat Rock and First ARP Church in Rock Hill. She moved to Flat Rock three years ago.

Mrs. Gaston was a retired guidance counselor and teacher who served more than 30 years in the Rock Hill, Lancaster, and Chester school districts.

After retirement, she served as hostess at the Springs Founders House in Fort Mill. She was an active member of the Women of the Church and a volunteer at Bonclarken Con-ference Center. She was involved with Camp Coqui, Music/Drama Camp, Camp Bonclarken and the music conference. She served as chairman of Family Living of Synodical and was a guest columnist for the ARP Magazine.

Surviving are her husband, John P. Gaston; four sons, J.P. Gaston III of Edgemoor, the Rev. H. Neely Gaston of Greenville, the Rev. Joseph S. Gaston of Bedford, Va., and W. Strait Gaston of Lancaster; her brother, John Harvey Neely Jr. of Rock Hill; her sister, Harvey Sue Chappell of Rock Hill; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home tonight and after the service.

Spencer Hudson

WILLIAMSTON, N.C. - Mr. Spencer Bee "Pete" Hudson, 79, of 203 Fairview St. died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at West End Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bill Harkins and the Rev. Grover Everett officiating. Burial will be at Martin Memorial Gardens.

A native of Halifax County, N.C., Mr. Hudson was a son of the late Robert Hudson and Gertrude Hudson. He was the widow of Mary Lotz Hudson. Mr. Hudson was a section foreman for Seaboard Coastline. He was a member of West End Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Spencer Jackson Hudson of Rock Hill and Joseph Craig Hudson of Williamston; his daughter, Linda Hudson Nichol-son of Williamston; his sister, Margie Brown of Oregon; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Biggs Funeral home and at other times at the home of Linda Nicholson, 1111 White Oak Drive, Williamston.

Robert Wright

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Robert E. "Butch" Wright, 44, of Charlotte died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, at home.

A memorial service was Oct. 1, 1999, at Grier Funeral Chapel in Charlotte.

Born in Rock Hill, Mr. Wright grew up in Fort Mill. He was an animal-control officer in 1979 and 1980. He served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Wright of Charlotte; his mother, Joy M. Koch of Lake Jackson; his stepfather, William R. Koch of Lake Jackson; his father, Robert Wright of Portland, Maine; his stepmother, Dorothy Wright of Portland; his daughter, Neenah Wright of Charlotte; his son, Danny Wright of New Orleans; his grandfather, "Papa" Andrew Wright of Fort Mill; and two sisters, Virginia L. Brommer of Charlotte and Jacki M. Reece of Tampa, Fla.

Bobby Faris

CLOVER - Mr. Bobby Joe Faris, 59, of 301 Jackson Terrace died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Paul Hutchison officiating.

A native of York County, Mr. Faris was a son of the late Robert Leslie Faris and Ina Louise Faris. Mr. Faris was an U.S. Air Force veteran. He was employed with Homelite and John Deere for 35 years. He was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Clover and was a Mason in Alpine Lodge 208 in Clover.

Surviving are his wife, Eloise Mauney Faris; two daughters, Jody F. Hope III of Clover and Julie F. Proffitt of Blacksburg; two brothers, Ralph "Bud" Faris and Rick Faris, both of Clover; his sister, Judy F. Falls of Clover; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford Sons Funeral Home.

Allen Michaw

LANCASTER - Mr. Allen Dexter Michaw, 46, of 1711 Flat Creek Road died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Hendricks officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Michaw was a son of the late S.W. Michaw Sr. and Dorothy Ida Small Michaw. He was a carpenter and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are two brothers, Billy Lee Michaw and Jason Phillip Michaw, both of Lancaster; and two sisters, Brenda Baker and Renaye Michaw Moree, both of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his sister, Brenda Baker, 1310 Bailey Road, Lancaster.

Wilbert Finch

WASHINGTON - Mr. Wilbert Tyrone Finch, 48, of Washington, formerly of Rock Hill, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999.

The funeral was Tuesday at Capitol Mortuary, with the Rev. Garfield Burton officiating. Burial was at Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Va.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Finch was a son of Hattie Finch of Rock Hill and the late Willard Finch. Mr. Finch was a 1968 graduate of Emmett Scott High School and was retired from the Marine Corps. He was last employed in 1992 at the Department of Human Services in Washington.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Ramona Finch; his children, Sophia, Angel and Raechell and Anthony; three brothers, Johnny Finch, Larry Finch and Randy Finch, all of Rock Hill; his sister, Joyce Mayfield of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren.

King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester is in charge of local arrangements.

Nancy Gaskins

KERSHAW - Mrs. Nancy Mae Hinson Gaskins, 82, of 7614 Kershaw-Camden Highway died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Second Baptist Church, with the Revs. Charles Rabon, Hugh McKinney, Kenneth Catoe and Steve Neal officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

A native of Kershaw, Mrs. Gaskins was a daughter of the late Tillman Charles Hinson and Tabitha Wright Hinson. She was the widow of Lum Columbus Gaskins. She was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, J. Charles Gaskins of Denver and T.C. Gaskins of Kershaw; two daughters, Marian Bailey of Kershaw and Perlene Frasier of Camden; her sister, Margaret Bruce of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Daisy Gay

KERSHAW - Mrs. Daisy Walters Gay, 83, of 3433 Flat Rock Road died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hanging Rock United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Eugene L. Feagin officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, Mrs. Gay was a daughter of the late Samuel Hoyt Walters and Beulah Broughton Walters. She was the widow of Ernest Russell Gay. A homemaker, Mrs. Gay was a member of Hanging Rock United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Busy Bee Circle.

Surviving are two brothers, Joseph W. "Red" Walters and Thomas H. Walters, both of Lancaster; and her sister, Jessie W. McManus of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw.

Memorials may be made to Hanging Rock United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund.

Genevia Keener

CHESTER - Ms. Genevia "Knee Baby" Keener, 45, of 122 Cushman Drive died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Christopher King's Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Abell officiating. Burial will be at Old Wilson Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Keener was educated in the Chester County public schools. She was a member of Brown Chapel AME Zion Church and worked with the Lancaster/Chester Board of Disabilities and Special Needs in Chester.

Surviving are four sisters, Ella Bessie Keener Gunthrop of the home, Rosa Glenn and Josephine Fair, both of Chester, and Barbara Foxworth of New York; six brothers, Elmore Keener, J.T. Keener and Johnny Keener, all of Chester, Earl Keener of Columbia, John Keener of New York and Arthur Keener of Washington.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester.

Mozell Lowery

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mrs. Mozell Matthews Lowery, 85, of 2731 Mary Ave. died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Fishing Creek Baptist Church in York, with the Revs. Terry L. Wallace Jr. and Alfred Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

A native of York County, Mrs. Lowery was a daughter of the late George Matthews and Sue Brown Matthews. She was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church, where she was Mother of the Church and a member of the Missionary Society, Pastor's Aid, Hymn Choir, Sunday school and Prayer Band No. 2. She was a member of the AP&B Society, Church Aide Society, End Senior Citizens Club, Old Farm Women Club and the Rebecca Chapter No. 20 Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are her son, Nathaniel Lowery of Winston-Salem, N.C.; six daughters, Macie L. Bagley, Zenobia Campbell and Bertha Lowery, all of Gastonia, Annie Mae Knox of Kingston, N.Y., Frances L. Wilson of Savannah, Ga., and Carrie Lowery of New York; two brothers, James Matthews and Ben Matthews, both of Gastonia, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Costner Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Peggy McDaniel

TEGA CAY - Mrs. Peggy Poole McDaniel, 67, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Oakdale Baptist Church in Spencer, N.C., with the Rev. Robert Heard officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Spencer, N.C., Mrs. McDaniel was a daughter of the late Tom Poole and Clara Barnes Poole. She retired from Jefferson Pilot Communications Co. in 1991. She was a life member of Oakdale Baptist Church and was a choir member. She was a member of Tega Cay Lioness Club for 20 years.

Surviving are her husband, Fred McDaniel; four daughters, Christie Gaffney of Fountain Inn, Myra King of Rutherfordton, N.C., Cheryl Harrison of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Sheri Brown of Charlotte; four sisters, Kay Starnes and Marion Overcash, both of Salisbury, N.C., Charlotte Snyder of Burlington, N.C., and Beverly Higgins of Hawaii; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Summersett Funeral Home.
