Leroy Whitlock

ROCK HILL - Mr. Leroy Whitlock of 755 Forest Road died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pineville AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Eugene Goodwin officiating and the Rev. Mary Crosby assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Whitlock was a member of Pineville AME Zion Church. He was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School. Mr. Whitlock was employed more than 30 years by Celanese Corp.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Whitlock; his son, Buddy Williams of Washington; seven daughters, Cheryl Barnette, Linda Whitlock, Mary King, Deloris Leak, Gladys Whitlock, Denise Caldwell and Delicia Whitlock, all of Rock Hill; his brother, David Whitlock of Rock Hill; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Bobby Cameron

FOREST CITY, N.C. - Mr. Bobby Joe Cameron, 60, of 151 Bob Rollins Road, formerly of Lockhart, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Rutherford Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Padgett King Mortuary. A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Zion Presbyterian Church in Lowrys, with the Rev. Chris Snellgrove officiating.

A native of Chester, Mr. Cameron was a son of the late P. Leon Cameron and Irene Yongue Cameron. He was a machinist with Torrington Corp and was a member of Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church and Lockhart Masonic Lodge No. 244 A&FM.

Surviving are his son, Scott Cameron of Decatur, Ga.; his daughter, Judy Lynn Gill of Lockhart; two brothers, Earl Cameron of Chester and Leon Cameron of Winnsboro; and his granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, P.O. Box 336, Forest City, NC 29043. Padgett King Mortuary is in charge.

Alvin Curtis

LANCASTER - Mr. Alvin Burke Curtis, 73, of 488 South Ave. died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Helms and the Rev. Dr. Stuart Snow officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Mount Holly, N.C., Mr. Curtis was a son of the late Jacob Curtis and Hettie Elizabeth Seagle Curtis. He was a member of Catawba Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries after 43 years service.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Faye Lemmonds Curtis; his son, James H. "Sam" Helms of Lancaster; three daughters, Marie Williams of Charlotte, and Joyce Todd and Barbara Parker, both of Fort Lawn; her brother, Calvin Monroe Curtis of Lancaster; two sisters, Maggie C. Bost of Belmont, N.C., and Mattie C. Sims of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Opal Howell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Opal Rice Howell, 80, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Adnah United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Michael Leonhardt and Tommy Hope officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Greer, Mrs. Howell was a daughter of the late B.C. Rice and Teenie Jane Beaver Rice. She was the widow of Clarence E. Howell. Mrs. Howell was a retiree of J.P. Stevens, a volunteer for the Rock Hill Parks Recreation Department and member of the York County Fair Association. She served on the Clemson Home Extension Board.

Surviving are her son, Cotton Howell of Rock Hill; two daughters, Mickey Robinson of Rock Hill and Gerry Byron of Alpharetta, Ga.; her brother, L.C. Rice of Rock Hill; two sisters, Rebecca Strait and Jody Walters, both of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Cotton Howell, 1844 Holland Road, Rock Hill.

Floyd Jaggers

CHESTER - Mr. Floyd "Pal" Jaggers, 87, of 111 Mill St. died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Carmel Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Danny Murphy officiating. Burial will be at Benson Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Jaggers was a son of the late John Jaggers and Laura Cranford Jaggers. He was a member of Carmel Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and was the past deacon and trustee. He served on committees on the Fairfield-McClelland Presbytery and was a graduate of Brainerd Institute. He was a member of Acacia Masonic Lodge No. 32, American Legion Post No. 44 and the Chester Voters Association. He was a retired construction worker and plumber and a World War II Army veteran. He was a staff member of King's Funeral Home.

Surviving are three nieces; four nephews; and two caretakers, Eliza Rhinehart of Chester and Derrick Rhinehart of McConnells.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. tonight with Masonic Rites at the King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St. and other times at the home of Eliza Rhinehart, 114 Mill St.

The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Saturday and may be viewed from noon to 9 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home.

Thelma Marshall

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Thelma H. Marshall, 76, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at White Oak Manor.

A graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. today at Forest Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Montgomery officiating.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Marshall was a daughter of the late John F. Henry Jr. and Hattie Mae Duncan Henry. Mrs. Marshall was a member of Westend Hill Baptist Church of Birmingham. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are two daughters, Carol M. Stewart of Rock Hill and Audrey M. Harrington of Fairfield, Ala.; two brothers, Jack Henry of Las Vegas and John Henry Jr. of Birmingham; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. today at Greene Funeral Home.

Norma Miller

FORT MILL - Mrs. Norma Wagner Miller, 69, of 322 Morgan St. died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wolfe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marshall Fant III and Evangelist Robert Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Stanley, N.C., Mrs. Miller was a daughter of the late Ernest Wagner and Lola Temple Wagner. She was the widow of James F. Miller. Mrs. Miller was retired from the beaming department at Celanese Corp.

Surviving are five daughters, Dale Picard and Kris Semko, both of Fort Mill, Deborah McCrain of the home, Ramona Simpson of Rock Hill and Jodi Campbell of Lancaster; her brother, Hans "Sonny" Wagner of Rock Hill; her sister, Susie Nichols of Edgemoor; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden St., Columbia, SC 29201.

Catherine Mitchell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Catherine Mitchell of 318 Bynum Ave. died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Boyd Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. J. Thomas Barber officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, Eddie Mitchell; two sons, Bruce Mitchell of Charlotte and Yancey O. Mitchell of Lithonia, Ga.; five daughters, Cassandra M. Carter and Needeah M. Agurs, both of Rock Hill, Jacqueline M. Johnson of Charlotte, Bonita Mitchell of Lithonia, Ga., and Candice Minor of Central; her brother, Otis Mobley of Charlotte; two sisters, Barbara Nash of Charlotte and Millie Thompson of Rock Hill; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 tonight at Boyd Hill Baptist Church.

Clemons Funeral home is in charge.

Dora Parks

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dora Parks, 107, of 4145 Erby Road died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Christian Home Baptist Church in Lowrys with the Rev. Daniel Chisolm officiating and the Revs. Loyd Reid, George Lowery and W.W. Thompson assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Parks was a member of Christian Home Baptist Church where she sang with the Hymn Choir. She attended Chester County public schools.

Surviving are her son, Edward Parks of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at noon Saturday.

The family will receive friends at home.

Richard Reynolds

MIAMI SPRINGS, Fla. - Mr. Richard Ross Reynolds of Miami Springs, Fla., died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Edgemoor Cemetery in Edgemoor with the Rev. Allen Derrick officiating.

Mr. Reynolds was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. After 37 years of service, he retired from Winn- Dixie as data processing manager of the Miami division. He was a member of Poincianna United Methodist Church for 48 years.

Surviving are his wife, Eva Reynolds; two daughters, Virginia Yates and Susan Johnson; his son, Richard Reynolds; his brother, Tom Reynolds; his sister, Helen Spears; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his step-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the Winn-Dixie Lodge, 1121 N.W. 14th St., Miami, FL 33136.

Bobby Smith

RIDGEWAY - Mr. Bobby Dean Smith, 54, of Highway 34 died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in Columbia.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls with the Rev. Joe Parker officiating.

A native of Fairfield County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Marshall David Smith and Lorrine Reynolds Smith. He was a residential roofer. He attended Fairfield County schools and was an Army veteran of Vietnam.

Surviving are his son, Steven Yearwood of Lexington; two daughters, Melissa Smith of Lexington and Tammy Delph of Atlanta; three brothers, Jimmy Smith of Pelion, Johnny Smith of Gold Hill, N.C., and Levi Smith of Great Falls; his sister, Idella Morales of Columbia; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Julia Thomas

YORK - Mrs. Julia Frances McKee Thomas, 56, of 217 Wiley Ave. died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Steve Brown officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in York.

A native of Abbeville, Mrs. Thomas was a daughter of Pauline McKee Parker of Clinton and the late James Duffie McKee. Mrs. Thomas was a legal secretary. She worked at Kennedy, Covington, Lobdell and Hickman and as a secretary for Stephen McCrae for 17 years. She earned her associate's degree in secretarial science from Erskine College and her bachelor's degree in history from Presbyterian College. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in York and attended Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her son, William Kelly Thomas of York; her stepson, David Thomas Jr. of Philadelphia; her stepfather, Joe Paris Parker of Clinton; three brothers, James Duffie McKee III and John Paul McKee, both of Rock Hill, Frank Hartsell McKee of Omaha, Neb.; her stepsister, Patricia Parker Roth of Clinton; her friend, George Robinson of Rock Hill; and her step-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

ROCK HILL - Mr. James A. "Jim" Wilson, 71, of 1767 Ridgeview Court died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carol R. Cammon officiating.

A native of Wilcox County, Ga., Mr. Wilson was a son of the late Albert Wilson and Clovis Wilson. He was a graduate of Abbeville High School in Georgia and Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton, Ga. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was employed at Burroughs, Xerox and owned Wilson Copier Service.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Muller Wilson; three sons, Steven Wilson of Rock Hill, Jay Wilson of Columbia and Mark Wilson of Charlotte; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home after the service.
