W. Jack Wilson

LANCASTER - Mr. Willis Jack Wilson, 55, of 1704 Hollybrook Lane died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Eastside Baptist Church, with the Revs. Joel Rhyner, Gary Roberts and David Templeton officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Wilson was a son of the late William Jefferson Wilson and Mary Hilderbrand Wilson. He was owner and operator of Jack's Cleaning Service and member of Eastside Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday school director.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly Ann Robert Wilson; his daughter, Courtney Leigh Anne Wilson of the home; his brother, Floyd Wilson of Heath Springs; and two sisters, Linda Snipes of Heath Springs and Helen Self of Kershaw.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church building fund, 1180 Garnette Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Willie Basinger

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Willie O. Basinger, 77, of 346 Hampton St. Apt. 108 died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bass Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Timothy McClendon officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Basinger was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Robert J. Basinger.

Surviving are three sons, J. Gilbert Basinger and Norman Basinger, both of Rock Hill, and Frank Basinger of Charlotte; three daughters, the Rev. Juanita Powell of Clayton, N.C., Lorece Stockton of St. Cloud, Fla., and Rachael Williamson of Lakeland, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. today at Bass Funeral Home.

Mary Campbell

RICHBURG - Miss Mary Belle Campbell, 85, of 3234 Lancaster Highway, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Heath Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sam Warwick officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Lando, Miss Campbell was a daughter of the late W.P. Campbell and Annie Elizabeth Campbell. She worked at Hudson Hosiery Mill in Charlotte and at Dave Baer Hosiery in Rock Hill before she retired. She was a life time member of Heath Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was an assistant and teacher in the Sunday school nursery class for many years. Miss Campbell served as a hospital nurse during World War II. She graduated from Edgemoor High School.

Surviving are two brothers, John Newt Campbell and James Earl Campbell, both of the Rodman Community; 24 nieces and nephews; 33 great-nieces and great-nephews; and 15 great-great nieces and great-great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

James Dye

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Dye, 59, of 414 Rich St. died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Brian Nursing Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronderick Pendleton Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Dye attended York County public schools. He was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, James Dye II of Rock Hill and Jimmy Dye of Washington; his brother, Johnny Dye of Washington; and two sisters, Lucille Young and Lizzie Mae Throne, both of Silver Springs, Md.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Dora Gibson

NEWBERRY - Mrs. Dora Riser Gibson, 85, formerly of Spearman Road, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999 at the National Health Center in Clinton.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Smyrna Presbyterian Church in Newberry, with the Rev. Bryan Wright officiating. Burial will be at Newberry Memorial Gardens.

A native of Saluda County, Mrs. Gibson was a daughter of the late Clarence R. Riser and Trannie Bedenbaugh Riser. She was a self employed seamstress. Mrs. Riser was a member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and member of the Women of the Church and choir. She was past president of the South Carolina Extension Homemakers Council and past president of the Bush River PTA.

Surviving are two sons, Billy R. Gibson of Newberry and J. Corbett Gibson of York; her brother, Herber Riser of Burnsville, N.C.; her sister, Lila Shealy of Lexington; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Whitaker Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Gibson, 1173 Spearman Road, Newberry.

L.C Horton

LANCASTER - Mr. Lemuel C. "L.C." Horton, 82, of 357 Brooklyn Ave. died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Lancaster Church of God, with the Revs. Lacy Jones and James Chappel officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Horton was a son of the late Lonnie Horton and Flonnie Carnes Horton. He was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Lancaster Church of God.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl Cooper Horton; two sons, Charles Wayne Horton of Lancaster and William Howard "Dub" Horton of Maggie Valley, N.C.; his daughter, Joy Ann Hudson of Kannapolis, N.C.; his sister, Margaret Herring of Camden; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

C. Eugene Humphries

YORK - Mr. Carl. Eugene Humphries, 39, of 135 W. Old Limestone Road, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Bratton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alan Price officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of Richland County, Mr. Humphries was a son of Harvey England and Jane Raper England of York. He was a machinist at Westinghouse Co. in Charlotte. He was a member of the Rock Hill HOG Chapter, motorcycle club.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Donna Stewart Humphries; and his twin daughters, Starr Humphries and Daniell Humphries, both of the home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Mitchell

CHESTER - Miss Elizabeth Mae Mitchell, 90, of 1810 Grant Road died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Armenia United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Fant Steele officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York, Miss Mitchell was a daughter of the late Martin Luther Mitchell and Anna Lee Mitchell. She was a member of Armenia United Methodist Church and a graduate of Yorkville High School.

Surviving are her niece and caregiver, Mary Anna Lee of Chester; her great niece; her great nephew; and her great-great nephew.

The family will recieve friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Julia Thomas

YORK - Mrs. Julia Frances McKee Thomas, 56, of 217 Wiley Ave. died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Steve Brown officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in York.

A native of Abbeville, Mrs. Thomas was a daughter of Pauline McKee Parker of Clinton and the late James Duffie McKee. Mrs. Thomas was a legal secretary. She worked at Kennedy, Covington, Lobdell and Hickman and as a secretary for Stephen McCrae for 17 years. She earned her associate's degree in secretarial science from Erskine College and her bachelor's degree in history from Presbyterian College. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in York and attended Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her son, William Kelly Thomas of York; her stepson, David Thomas Jr. of Philadelphia; her stepfather, Joe Paris Parker of Clinton; three brothers, James Duffie McKee III and John Paul McKee, both of Rock Hill, and Frank Hartsell McKee of Omaha, Neb.; her stepsister, Patricia Parker Roth of Clinton; her friend, George Robinson of Rock Hill; and her step-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Moses Wilson

BALTIMORE - Mr. Moses Wilson, 62, of Baltimore died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999.

The funeral was Nov. 5 at Brean Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerome McNeill Sr. officiating. Burial was at King Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Wilson was a son of the Maggie Nance Wilson of Baltimore and the late James L. Wilson. He was educated in the Rock Hill public schools. Mr. Wilson was employed with the Diamond Cab Co. as a mechanic from 1954 until he retired in 1993.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Anna Faye Wilson; four sons, Ronald Wilson, Donald Wilson, Marvin Wilson and Maurice Wilson, all of Baltimore; four brothers, James Wilson and Woodrow Wilson, both of Baltimore and Howard Wilson and Melvin Wilson, both of Charlotte; his sister, Cora Lee Hoyles of Rock Hill; and 12 grandchildren.

Vaughn C. Green Funeral was in charge.

David Blanks

MYRTLE BEACH - Mr. David Arnold Blanks, 30, of 128 Countryside Drive died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Conway Hospital in Conway.

The Memorial will be 3 p.m. Monday at Mount Holly United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Mike Rouse officiating.

A native of England, Mr. Blanks was a son of Marion and Dawn Cunnington Blanks. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Blanks was a salesman for Shafer Distributing Co. and enjoyed motorcycle racing and soccer.

Surviving are his wife, Crystal Latham Blanks of Myrtle Beach; his parents, Marion Cunnington and Dawn Cunnington of Rock Hill; two brothers, Darrell Blanks of Rock Hill and Rick Blanks of England; two sisters, Mandy Williams of Rock Hill and Tracy Watford of Columbia; maternal grandparents George Cunnington and Hazel Cunnington.

The family will receive friends at Greene Funeral Home from 7 to tonight.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Patricia Ann Boatwright Stauffer, 52, of 481 Cottonwood Drive died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sukhdeo Cyril Mahadeo officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Stauffer was a daughter of the late Richard Boatwright and the late Katherine Boatwright. She was of the nondenominational faith and worked at Converse as an order clerk for 17 years. Mrs. Stauffer also volunteered at Piedmont Medical Center as a pink lady.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas Stauffer; her son, Danny Hunt of Rock Hill; two daughters, Kathy Hunt and Kimberly Hunt, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Richard Boatwright of Mt. Holly, N.C., and Joseph Boatwright of Rock Hill; two sisters, Pansy Austin of Rock Hill and Brenda Mahadeo of Stanley, N.C.; two stepchildren, Derek Stauffer and Melissa Stauffer, both of Rock Hill; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 today at Greene Funeral Home.

Louise Taylor

KERSHAW - Mrs. Louise Sims Taylor, 76, of 110 Deloris Lane in Bonneau died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at the Magnolia Manor in Moncks Corner.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Todd Robinson officiating.

A native of Kershaw, Mrs. Taylor was a daughter of the late Boston and Lottie Stevens Sims. She was the widow of Otis Taylor. She was retired from the J. P. Stevens Co.

Surviving are three brothers, Tommy Sims of Kershaw, Charles Sims and Bobby Polston of Lancaster; eight sisters, Jessie Payne of Kershaw, Sue Smalls and Shirley Enix of Chester, Ida Horne of Pageland, Brenda Sutton of Salisbury, N.C., and Lou Pate, Rebecca Steele and Karen Sampley, all of Lancaster; four grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. today at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel.
