LANCASTER - Mr. Ernest Faulkenberry, 55, of 1018 Cross St. died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Allen Brazell and Larry Plyler officiating. Burial will be at Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Faulkenberry was a son of the late Ben Faulkenberry and Bleeka Outen Faulkenberry. Mr. Faulkenberry was a carpenter and was a member of Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Gibson Faulkenberry; three sons, Tommy Hancock and Calvin Hancock, both of Lancaster, and Ricky Hancock of Kershaw; three daughters, Tammy Patterson, Barbara Webber and Victoria Plyler, all of Lancaster; two brothers, John P. Faulkenberry and Ben Faulkenberry, both of Lancaster; two sisters, Pearlie Mae Talbert of Lancaster and Betty Bryant of Gaffney; and 11 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Margaret G. Faulkenberry, 307 1/2-B S. York St., Lancaster.

Dorothy Gunter

BURNETTOWN - Mrs. Dorothy Minor Gunter, 75, of 156 Breezy Hill Road died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel in Langley, with the Rev. Charles Maney officiating. Burial will be in Langley.

A native of McCormick, Mrs. Gunter was a daughter of the late Jessie Minor and Ruby Dorn Minor. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Trudell Gunter; two sons, Johnny Hollowell and Bobby Hollowell, both of Burnettown; two daughters, Arminta Dowdy of Fort Mill and Iris Taylor of Graniteville; her stepson, Hutte Gunter of Edgefield; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Dinkins and Trudy McElhaney, both of Burnettown, and Ann Baker of Aiken; her brother, J.D. Minor of Burnettown; her sister, Mary Moody of Langley; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hatcher Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

June Heyl

JONESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. June Black Heyl, 95, of Jonesboro, formerly of Rock Hill, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Southern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bass Funeral Home in Rock Hill, with the Revs. Harold D. "Bo" Coleman and Marion Kanour officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill.

A native of Lincolnton, N.C., Mrs. Heyl was a daughter of the late John Black and Lula Bess Black. She was the widow of the Rev. Guy C. Heyl. Mrs. Heyl was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Va. She was a retired teacher from Fauquier County schools in Virginia. She was a former member of Oakland Baptist Church in Rock Hill, where she was very active, and she was a substitute teacher in York County schools.

Surviving are her son, Guy C. Heyl Jr. of Aiken; her daughter, Anne Childers of Morrow, Ga.; her brother, Hall Black of Chase City, Va.; two sisters, Lula Childers of York and Nettie Bayne of Chase City, Va.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bass Funeral Home.

Eliza Simpson

RICHBURG - Mrs. Eliza J. Scott Simpson, 89, of 4458 Hunter Road died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at the home of her daughter, Azalee Caldwell, 4684 Gaston Caldwell Road.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Nebo AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Sam Latta officiating and the Revs. Elijah Stallworth, W.J. Baxter, Anthony Commodore and Roosevelt Alexander assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Simpson was a daughter of the late Nora Scott and Littie Blake Scott. She was the widow of Asie Simpson. She was a member of Mount Nebo AME Zion Church, where she was the hymn choir leader, Mother of the Church, deaconess and missionary. She attended the public schools of Chester County. She was a former member of Red Oak AME Zion Church. She was a retired domestic worker.

Surviving are two sons, Ernest Simpson of Richburg and Levester Simpson of Great Falls; two daughters, Azalee Caldwell and Ivory Price, both of Richburg; 39 grandchildren, three of whom she reared, Anita Douglas and Jeffery Price, both of Fort Lawn, and Robert Simpson of Richburg; 75 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The body may be viewed from noon to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

Marie Williamson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Marie Jones Williamson of 247 Carroll Park died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at White Oak Manor Nursing Home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. James T. Barber officiating and Brother David Boone, the Rev. Dr. Marion Crawford and the Revs. W.T. Massey, Betty Hicks, B.R. Wilson and Charlie Mason assisting. The Rev. T.R. Jones will give the eulogy. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Williamson was a daughter of the late Layafaith Jones and Mary Howze Jones. She was a retired homemaker and was a member of the AP&B Society, Eastern Star Electa 234 and the NAACP.

Mrs. Williamson was the widow of David "Deac" Williamson.

Surviving are four sons, David Williamson Jr. and Johnny Williamson, both of Charlotte, the Rev. James Williamson of Lake City, Fla., and Curtis Williamson of Rock Hill; three daughters, Vera Jones of Rock Hill, Mary Settles of East Orange, N.J., and Evelyn Daniels of Lancaster, Pa.; 26 grandchildren, two of whom she reared, Robin Jones and Latisha Roberts, both of Rock Hill; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The body will be taken to the church at noon today.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge.

Gilmer Addison

LANCASTER - Mr. Gilmer E. "Skip" Addison, 88, of 2862 J.B. Denton Road died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Lancaster County Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Douglas Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Marion Dry officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Addison was a son of the late Ben Church Addison and Ida Stogner Addison. He was the widower of the late Eula Rollings Addison. Mr. Addison was a retired security guard for the University of South Carolina-Lancaster. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Surviving are his son, Charles A. Addison of Lancaster; his sister, Mary Hammonds of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his granddaughter, Wanda Addison Addair, 2840 J.B. Denton Road, Lancaster.

James Cook

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Edward Cook, 68, of 111 Chatham Ave. died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Forest Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruce Wyatt officiating.

A native of York County, Mr. Cook was a son of the late Zero Cook and Frances Smith Cook. He retired from Rock Hill Printing Finishing Co., where he worked in the finishing department for more than 18 years. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Lois Smith Cook; his son, Michael F. Cook of Rock Hill; three daughters, Joyce Shirley and Carol Burns, both of York, and Kathy Krzemien of Rock Hill; five sisters, Mae Williams of Charlotte, Kathelene Coburn of Moncks Corner, Nancy Lowman of Connelly Springs, N.C., Josephine Cook of Rock Hill and Margie Smith of Edgemoor; and 11 grandchildren.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Rosa Faulkenbury

FORT MILL - Mrs. Rosa Archie Faulkenbury, 81, of 839 Archie St. died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fort Mill Church of God, with the Rev. David Kemp officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

Mrs. Faulkenbury was a daughter of the late Walter Archie and Lottie Archie. She was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Ervin. Mrs. Faulkenbury was a former employee of Springs Industries. She was a member of Fort Mill Church of God.

Surviving are her husband, Clarence Faulkenbury; six sisters, Evelyn Bailey, Margie Brooks, Jessie Funderburk, Lillie Mae Fite and Connie Yarborough, all of Fort Mill, and Pearlie Ward of Lancaster; three brothers, Johnny Archie and David Archie, both of Fort Mill, and Willie Archie of Columbia; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Fort Mill Church of God and at other times at the home of Evelyn Bailey, 835 Archie St., Fort Mill.

Deborah Stewart

CLOVER - Mrs. Deborah Hodges Stewart, 40, of 202 Trinity St. died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Chuck Baynard officiating.

A native of Baltimore, Mrs. Stewart was a daughter of the late Aden Hodges and Lessie Young Hodges. She was retired from Clover Knit.

Surviving are her husband, John Henry Stewart; her son, Blake Stewart of Clover; her daughter, Carrie Stewart of Clover; and her sister, Carol Thomas of York.

The family will receive friends at home.

Bennie Ashley

ORLANDO, Fla. - Mr. Bennie Grant Ashley, 56, of Orlando died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Regional Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be an-nounced at a later time.

A native of Chester, Mr. Ashley was a son of Lucille Grant Akery of Chester and the late W.L. Ashley. Mr. Ashley was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Faye Cox Ashley; his daughter, Sherry Ashley Cater of Orlando; two sons, Benjamin Ashley and John Ashley, both of Orlando; his stepfather, Joe Akery of Chester; and seven grandchildren.

James Barbour

SMITHFIELD, N.C. - The Rev. James B. Barbour, 75, of York died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Underwood Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

The Rev. Barbour was founder and pastor of Central Baptist Church in Smithfield from 1962 to 1974 and retired in 1985. He was the widower of Betty Smith Barbour.

Surviving are his son, James L. Barbour of York; his daughter, Carol B. Wall of Clayton, N.C.; his brother, Cecil Barbour of Smithfield; five sisters, Pearline Morgan and Helene Williams, both of Smithfield, Pauline Barbee of Fayetteville, N.C., Norene Foster of Salisbury, N.C., and Geraldine Evans of Garner; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Underwood Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Carol Wall, 2017 HeatherDown Lane, Clayton.

Andrew Cauthen

HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. Andrew James Cauthen, 77, of 4286 Kershaw-Camden Highway died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Roberts. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Cauthen was a son of the late James Earl Cauthen and Thelma Jane Watson Cauthen. He was a retired farmer and Pleasant Hill ARP Church.

Surviving are his wife, Frondia Walters Cauthen; his brother, Richard Earl Cauthen of Heath Springs; and his sister, Mary Catherine Baker of Heath Springs.

Herbert Daniel Jr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Herbert E. Daniel Jr., 71, of 135 Charlie Stacks Road died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donald Ghant officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Helenwood, Tenn., Mr. Daniel was a son of the late Herbert Elvin Jr. and Flora Robins Daniel. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, was a retired food service director and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Crystell Hwouts Daniel; four sons, Mark Alton Daniel of Columbia, and Herbert Michael Daniel, Gary Cameron and Jason Daniel, all of Lancaster; four daughters, Denise Adams of Kershaw, Dale Sherry of Summerville, Donna Boone of Camden and Crystella Singleton of Lancaster; two brothers, Billy Joe Daniel of Whiteville, N.C., and Ralph Daniel of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two sisters, Genive V. Johnson of Winston-Salem and Mary Helen Daniel of Pennsylvania; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Edward McDaniel

CHESTER - Mr. Edward Mills McDaniel, 89, formerly of 1164 71st School Road in Fayetteville, N.C., died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at MacPherson Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville with the Revs. James Welch and John Todd officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Hopewell ARP Church cemetery in Blackstock.

Born in Chester County, Mr. McDaniel was a son of John James McDaniel and Anna Bigham McDaniel. Mr. McDaniel was the widower of Ida "Doodle" Hawks McDaniel. He retired as a civil service machinist in Fort Bragg, N.C., after 28 years. A graduate of Blackstock High School, Mr. McDaniel attended Erskine College for a year. He was a member of MacPherson Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. He was the church's 1998 "Man of the Year."

Mr. McDaniel served in the CCC Camp in Rodman and was an active member of the 71st School Community Booster Club, through which he supported the sports teams.

Surviving are two sisters, Mary Sterling of Lancaster and Sue McIntyre of Marion; and his caregiver, Edna Caldwell of Fayetteville.
