John Lyons III

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Mr. John Joseph Lyons III, 91, formerly of Rock Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at St. Joseph's Nursing Center at Morris Hall.

A funeral will be Saturday in Lawrenceville. Entombment will be at North Brunswick, N.J. Mass will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church in Fort Mill.

Mr. Lyons was a son of the late John Joseph Lyons Jr. and Sarah Ellen McGlynn. He was the widower of Florence Ruth Lyons. Mr. Lyons was retired in 1987 from Smith Enterprises Inc. in Rock Hill, where he was sales manager. He was president of Berks-Montgomery Regional Holy Name Union in Reading, Pa., where he was instrumental in building and naming a high school. He received an honorary diploma in 1996.

Surviving are six children, Mary Prutzman of Annadale, Va., Patricia Mueller of Jamesburg, N.J., John J. Lyons IV of Allendale, N.J., Margaret Hagen of Rock Hill, Catherine Misner of Doylestown, Pa., and Florence Hurley of Charlotte; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at the home of Margaret Hagen, 1052 Farm Pond Lane, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to St. Anne School Endowment Fund, 1698 Bird St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Kearns Funeral Home in White-house, N.J., is in charge.

Euda Porter

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Euda Degraffenreid Porter, 45, of 843 Carolina Ave. died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Rehoboth AME Zion Church, with the Rev. W.H. Woods Jr. officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Porter was the daughter of the late Suzanna Howze Degraffenreid. She was a member of Rehoboth AME Zion Church, where she was a member of the Lay Council and the hymn choir. She was a 1972 graduate of Lewisville High School. She was employed by Kem Wove Textile in Charlotte.

Surviving are two sons, John Ed Porter Jr. and Jermaine Porter, both of Rock Hill; her daughter, Trina Elaine Degraffenreid of Rock Hill; seven brothers, MacArthur Degraffenreid of Chester, Wilbert Degraffenreid and Gene H. Degraffenreid, both of Edgmoor, Lawrence McFadden of Rock Hill, Nathaniel McFadden of Charlotte and James Caldwell and Jimmy Caldwell, both of Chester; seven sisters, Johnnie Mae Bell and Maggie Caldwell, both of Chester, Janet Cook, Mary McCrorey, Betty Williams and Constine Perry, all of Rock Hill, and Louise White of Charlotte; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St. in Chester, and at other times at the home of Betty Williams, 1034 Martin Ave., Rock Hill.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Thursday.

The body may be viewed from noon to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at King's Funeral Home

Willie Ross

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Willie Dunlap Ross, formerly of 1226 Russell St., died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at St. Matthew AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Arthur Randolph Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Rock Grove AME Zion Church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Ross was a daughter of the late Charlie Dunlap Sr. and Josephine White Dunlap. She was a nurse. She was a member of St. Matthew AME Zion Church, where she was a former member of the senior choir and the flower committee. She attended the public schools of York County.

Surviving are three sisters, Bennie M. Lipsey of Rock Hill, Harriet Dash of White Plains, N.Y., and Lila Chisholm of Inwood, N.Y.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. at the church and at other times at 527 Blake St.

Corrie Skinnell

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Corrie Aultice Skinnell, 98, formerly of Clover, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at Forrest Lake Health Care in Martinez, Ga.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Clover, with the Rev. Paul Hutchison officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery in Clover.

A native of Franklin County, Va., Mrs. Skinnell was a daughter of the late Thomas Aultice and Cora Wright Aultice. She was the widow of David D. Skinnell. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Clover.

Surviving are four sons, Emmett Skinnell and Eugene Skinnell, both of Granite Falls, N.C., and Paul Skinnell and Ashby Skinnell, both of Clover; four daughters, Delitha Cox of Danville, Va., Cora Cody of Augusta, Ga., June Bumgarner of Canton, Ohio, and Nora Card of Stockton, Calif.; her brother, Eldridge Aultice of Bedford, Va.; 25 grandchildren; and 72 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Paul Skinnell, 140 Springs Meadow Drive, Clover, and Ashby Skinnell, 1987 Kingsbury Road, Clover.

James Ballard Jr.

CAMDEN - Mr. James Wesley "Sugar Bear" Ballard Jr., 53, of 1900 Jefferson Highway, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, in Camden.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Ballard was a son of the late James W. Ballard Sr. and Margaret Moon Ballard. He was a foreman of Asplundh Tree Service and a member of the Community Hunting Club.

Surviving are his wife, Fonda Hyatt Ballard; two sons, James W. Ballard III of Camden and David W. Ballard of Rock Hill; two daughters, Crystal Ballard and Kathy Ballard McManus, both of Rock Hill; his stepson, Lorne D. Walters of Camden; his stepdaughter, Linda D. Jordon of Rock Hill; four sisters, Deloris Hindman of Fort Lawn, Judy Simpson and Cindy Hilley, both of Lancaster and Brenda Ballard of Clinton; and 14 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight and at other times at the home of Deloris Hindman, 5684 Hillsdale St., Fort Lawn.

Loudelia Boulware

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Loudelia Carter Boulware, 59, of 752 Cedar St. died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gold Hill Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. George McCoy officiating and the Rev. John T. McCoy and Sandra McCoy assisting. Burial will be at Uniondale Cemetery.

A native of York, Mrs. Boulware was a daughter of the late James Carter Sr. and Annie Bell Marshall Carter. She was a member of Gold Hill Baptist Church in York.

Surviving are her husband, Esau Boulware Sr.; three sons, Esau Boulware Jr. of Columbia, Gregory Boulware of the home and Jacob Boulware of York; two daughters, Judy Minter and Brenda Burris, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Alvin Carter Sr. and Eugene Carter, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Carretha Burris and Debbie Ann McCrorey, both of Rock Hill; and eight grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 tonight at Wright Funeral Home in York.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friday.

Esther Byrum

MONROE, N.C. - Mrs. Esther Barnette Byrum, 65, formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Hospice of Monroe.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Bratton Funeral Home in York. Burial will be at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Sharon.

A native of Sharon, Mrs. Byrum was a daughter of Rusha Hines Barnette of Sharon and the late Henry Barnette. She was a retired employee of White Oak Manor Nursing Home and a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Mill.

Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters, Betty B. Grubb of Myrtle Beach and Millie B. Hathaway of Rock Hill; three brothers, Jim Barnette and Jack Barnette, both of Sharon, and Top Barnette of York; two sisters, Margie B. Childers of York and Myrtle Ann B. Jones of Rock Hill; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Victor Feaster

BALTIMORE - Mr. Victor Feaster, 42, of Baltimore, formerly of Chester County, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at New Pilgrim Baptist Church. Burial will be in Baltimore.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Feaster was a son of Bessie E. Feaster of Baltimore and the late Charles Feaster Jr. He attended public school in Baltimore and received his high school diploma from City College. He served in the Army and was employed at Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of New Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother are four children, Brandon Feaster, Jessica Feaster, Kyauna Feaster and Victoria Jackson, all of Baltimore; his brother, Charles E. Feaster of Baltimore; four sisters, Veronica Robinson, Theresa Feaster, Sharon Feaster and Cynthia Y. Tims, all of Baltimore; and his fiancee, Stacy Law of Ellwood City, Pa.

King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester, is in charge of local arrangements.

Richard Guyer

HAVELOCK, N.C. - Master Sgt. Richard Anthony Guyer (Ret.), 63, of 325 Tall Pine Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Cherry Point Naval Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Home in Morehead City, N.C., with the Rev. Jeffery Harris officiating.

A graveside service with military honors will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer ARP Church Cemetery in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Patricia Griffith-Fallaw officiating.

A native of Wilmington, Del., Mr. Guyer was a son of the late Lamert Guyer and Mary Guyer. He was retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and served in Japan, Quantico, Calif., Hawaii and Cherry Point. He was employed with Facilities Engineers at Cherry Point Naval Air Station.

Surviving are his wife, Luelle Senn Guyer; and two brothers, Lawrence Guyer of New Castle, Del., and Thomas Guyer of Delaware.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Brooks Funeral Home, 201 Professional Circle, Morehead City, N.C. and at other times at the home.

Robert Pettit

LANCASTER - Mr. Robert Avery Pettit, 69, of 1881 Edgeport Drive died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Lancaster Church of God of Prophecy, with the Rev. Ted Tinker and Bobby Bailey officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Pettit was a son of the late George Washington Pettit and Ola Johnson Pettit. He was retired from Duracell and an Army veteran. He was a member of Lancaster Church of God of Prophecy.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Elizabeth Beckham Pettit; two sons, Ronald Avery Pettit and Daryl Alan Pettit, both of Lancaster; his daughter, Sharon Pettit Knight of Lancaster; four brothers, Richard C. Pettit of Conway, James Harold "Bill" Pettit of Fort Lawn, Julian Pettit of McConnells and Don Pettit of Catawba; four sisters, Mabel P. Brown of Columbia, Helen P. Starnes of Greenbelt, Md., Katherine P. Atkinson of Dallas, N.C., and Maxcine P. Wallace of Hanahan; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home in Great Falls.

Fred Teigue

McCONNELLS - Mr. Fred Junior Teigue, 69, of 1144 Simpson Road died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Chester County Hospital in Chester.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bratton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Scoggins officiating. Burial will be at Olivet Presbyterian Church cemetery in McConnells.

A native of Belton, Mr. Teigue was a son of the late Fred V. Teigue and Carrie Harrison Teigue. He was a retired from the Army as a field First Sergeant E-7. He served in the Korean conflict and did two tours of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Teigue was employed as a security guard at Rockwell International in York.

Surviving are his wife, Irene Becker Teigue; his son, Richard Teigue of Fort Bragg, N.C.; five daughters, Tina T. Sweatt and Marian T. Carver, both of McConnells, Carrie T. Killian and Ruthy T. Baine, both of Rock Hill, and Kathy T. Robinson of York; his brother, Ray Teigue of McConnells; four sisters, Ruth Teigue of Sharon, Mae T. Barker of Gastonia, N.C., Katherine T. Pate of Clover, and Sybile T. Robinson of Kannapolis, N.C.; and 13 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Prince Tillman Jr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Prince Albert Tillman Jr., 69, of 1039 Grace Ave. died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at White Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bobby Bailey, the Rev. Donald Tillman, and the Rev. Dr. Patti Tillman officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Calhoun County, Mr. Tillman was a son of the late Prince Albert Tillman Sr. and Ethel Hollis Tillman. He was the widower of Catherine Catoe Tillman. He was a member of White Springs Baptist Church and was retired from Grace Bleachery. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his son, Prince Albert "Al" Tillman III of Lancaster; three daughters, Rene? Tillman of Lancaster, the Rev. Dr. Patti Tillman Simpson of Hilton Head and Kelly Tillman Sexton of Rock Hill; two brothers, Truman Tillman of Lancaster and T.W. Tillman of Columbia; two sisters, Berdie Hudson of Lancaster and Lois Ghent of Marshall, Texas; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

M. Elizabeth Wilson

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Miss Martha Elizabeth "Libba" Wilson, 80, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church.

A native of Greenville, Miss Wilson was a daughter of the late Frank Wilson and Verda Waldrop Wilson. She attended the Greenville city schools, the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and graduated from East Carolina University with a master's degree in education. She taught school in Scotland Neck and Wilmington, N.C., and Teaneck, N.J. She was a member of the Lector Book Club. She was a member of Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church, where she performed a number of volunteer jobs and was given a lifetime service pin for her efforts.

Surviving are her sister, Verda W. Ingle of Jacksonville, Fla.; her brother, Thomas E. Wilson of Rock Hill; and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
