Ida Adams

LANCASTER - Mrs. Ida Lee Hudson Adams, 84, of 1102 Hampton Grace Ave. died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at White Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bobby Bailey officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Greenville County, Mrs. Adams was a daughter of the late Henry Paul Hudson and Tencie Holcombe Hudson. She was the widow of Curtis Adams. Mrs. Adams was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of White Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Jerry Adams of Lancaster; two daughters, Earline McNeely of Lancaster and Ginny Fickling of Collinsville, Va.; five brothers, Dee Hudson, Lewis Hudson, Leonard Hudson, all of Simpsonville, Frank Hudson of Greenville and J.C. Hudson of Arizona; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to White Springs Baptist Church building fund, 1249 Grace Ave., Lancaster, SC 29720 or to Alzheimer's Association, Methodist Home, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 29215-3298.

Wendell Adams

ROCK HILL - Mr. Wendell Adams, 59, of 4238 Saluda Road died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Duke Medical Center in Durham, N.C.

The funeral will be noon Saturday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Tommy Huddleston officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Shoal Creek, N.C., Mr. Adams was a son of the late Hayden Adams and Jessie Allen Adams. He was employed with Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. for 23 years and with Cone Mills in Carlisle for 17 years. He was manager of the poultry exhibits at the York County Fair for the past 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel Martin Adams; two sons, Wendell Adams Jr. of Myrtle Beach and Jason L. Adams of Rock Hill; his daughter, Angela D. Adams of Greenwood; two brothers, Gene Adams of Rock Hill and Hayden Stephen Adams of Fort Mill; and three grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at he home.

Bill Anderson

KERSHAW - Mr. Bill Anderson, 77, of 2736 Lockhart Road died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edd Stokes officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

A native of Cassatt, Mr. Anderson was a son of the late Archie Austin Anderson and Winnie Gainey Anderson. Mr. Anderson attended the Refuge Baptist Church and was a retired machine operator for Carter's Precision Electric.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Diehl Anderson; his son, Jesse C. Anderson; three daughters, Erma DuBois and Karen Ginn, both of Spartanburg, and Berry Stevens of Walterboro; two stepsons, Donald Menser of Wheeling, W.Va., and Thomas Menser of Sumter; four brothers, Cecil Anderson of Camden, Trenton "Dusty" Anderson, Carol "Fuzzy" Anderson and Arnold A. Anderson, all of Kershaw; six sisters, Louise Anderson, Ruby A. Watts of Heath Springs, Lonell Kelly and Marcine McKay, both of Kershaw, Janice Tidwell of Hartsville and Shelby Crowe of St. Matthews; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

James Connor

CHESTER - Mr. James Boyd Connor, 81, of 1858 Lowrys Highway died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Revs. Chris Snelgrove and Dennis Reid officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Connor was a son of the late James Ervin Connor and Susie Thomas Connor. Mr. Connor was retired from Springs Industries and was an Army veteran of World War II. He attended the Chester County schools and was a member of Capers Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Jackson Connor; his son, James E. "Eddie" Connor of Chester; two daughters, Nancy Connor Paulos and Judy Connor McWaters, both of Chester; three brothers, Henry Connor, Ervin "Shorty" Connor and Fred Connor, all of Chester; three sisters, Erline Huett, Mary Williams and Frances Strait, all of Chester; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Richard Guyer

HAVELOCK, N.C. - Master Sgt. Richard Anthony Guyer (Ret.), 63, of 325 Tall Pine Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Cherry Point Naval Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Brooks Funeral Home in Morehead City, N.C., with the Rev. Jeffery Harris officiating.

A graveside service with military honors will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer ARP Church Cemetery in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Patricia Griffith-Fallaw officiating.

A native of Wilmington, Del., Mr. Guyer was a son of the late Lamert Guyer and Mary Guyer. He was retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and served in Japan, Quantico, Calif., Hawaii and Cherry Point. He was employed with Facilities Engineers at Cherry Point Naval Air Station.

Surviving are his wife, Luellen Senn Guyer, who is formerly of York County,; and two brothers, Lawrence Guyer of New Castle, Del., and Thomas Guyer of Delaware.

The family will received friends Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home, 201 Professional Circle, Morehead City, N.C. and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Salesian Missions, 2 Lefevre Lane, New Rochelle, NY 10801-5710 or the charity of one's choice.

James Hancock Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Horace Hancock Sr., 89, of 118 N. Stonewall St., died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Hogg and the Rev. Dr. Sollie Hicks officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Augusta, Ga., Mr. Hancock was a son of the late James L. Hancock and Eva Hudson Hancock. He was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 70 years. He was owner and operator of the lunch counter at Highland Park Mills and the Hancock Superette. He and his wife were active in the Meals on Wheels program. He was a Golden K member of Kiwanis.

Surviving are his wife, Daisy Hood Hancock; three sons, James "Jim" H. Hancock Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., Guy Hancock of Charleston and Bill Hancock of Pilot Mountain, N.C.; three sisters, Addie Davison and Margaret Tvedten, both of Rock Hill and Alberta Cothran of Culpepper, Va.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

R. Chase Huffman

LANCASTER - Mr. Richard Chase Huffman, 15, of 558 Mosteller Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jessie Adams officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Chase attended Lancaster High School and was a member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church.

Surviving are his father and Richard G. "Ricky" Huffman Jr., and his wife, Crystal, of Lancaster; his mother, Tonya Veal Ellis of the home; his sister, Candace Doniell Ellis of the home; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Terry Veal of Lancaster; his paternal grandmother, Maxine Broach of Lancaster; his paternal great-grandmother, Jo Huffman of Lancaster; his maternal great-grandparents, Helen Estridge of Lancaster and Pearl Veal of Commerce, Ga.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Veal, 572 Mosteller Drive, Lancaster.

Wilbert Lowry

CHESTER - Mr. Wilbert K. "Bill" Lowry, 77, of Chester County Nursing Center, formerly of 152 Gregg St., died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gethsemane Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles D. Pratt officiating. The Rev. Melvin Jackson will give the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Lowry was a son of the late Harvey Lowry and Maggie Hope Lowry. He was the widower of Rosa Lee Massey Lowry. He was a retired brick mason contractor and a staff member at Denton Funeral Home. Mr. Lowry was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where he was vocal choir leader and past president of the AP&B Lodge No. 11. He was past exalted ruler of Hill City Elks Lodge No. 570. He was an Army veteran of World War II and attended Chester County schools.

Surviving are two sons, David "Bubba" Jackson of Chester and the Rev. Melvin Jackson of Raleigh, N.C.; three brothers, James Meeks of Buffalo, N.Y., Robert Meeks of Dayton, Ohio, and Jonathan Meeks of Fort Worth, Texas; three nieces whom he reared, Essie Blunt of Baltimore, Cathy Jackson of Washington and Sharon Roone of Bladensburg, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Bubba and Gwendolyn Jackson, 109 Nella St., Chester.

Nannell Moore

YORK - Mrs. Nannell Blalock Moore, 96, of 5 W. Madison St. died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. J. Todd Speed officiating. Burial will be at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery.

A native of Clinton, Mrs. Moore was a daughter of the late Thomas J. Blalock and Frances Young Blalock. She was the widow of James W. Moore. Mrs. Moore was retired from the York County Treasurers office and she taught school in Lancaster and York. She was a member of the Tuesday Afternoon Book Club and First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Frances Blalock Moore of Charlotte and her brother, Francis Blalock of Clinton.

The family will receive friends in the Ladies Parlor after the service.

Frances Parker

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Frances Reeves Parker, 81, of Rock Hill died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Catawba Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tommy Huddleston officiating.

A native of Atlanta, Mrs. Parker was the widow of Linus W. Parker. She was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. as a clerk.

Surviving are her son, Timothy L. Parker of Rock Hill; her daughter, Linda Carol Rowland of Birmingham, Ala.; her sister, Elizabeth Reeves Carter of Rock Hill; two brothers, James Hartwell "Tiny" Reeves and John Paul "J.P." Reeves, both of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements will be announced by Bass Funeral Home.

Lawrence Pittman

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Lawrence "Buddy" Pittman, 66, of 35 Walnut St. died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. today at Great Falls Second Baptist Church, with the Revs. Steven Pittman and Charles Bradley officiating. Burial will be at Lando Cemetery.

A native of Lando, Mr. Pittman was a son of the late Steve Mitchell Pittman and Lillie Hagerty Pittman. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. Mr. Pittman was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens Co. in Rock Hill and was an officer with the Rock Hill Police Department. He was a graduate of Lewisville High School and attended Kings Business College. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the Second Armored Division Combat Engineers in Europe.

Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Steven Pittman of Newberg, Ind., and Scott Pittman of Chester; his brother, Nathan Pittman of Illinois; and three sisters, Mary Wishert of Chester, Daisy Shugart of Rock Hill and Florence Hart of Charlotte.

Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home is in charge.

Prince Tillman Jr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Prince Albert Tillman Jr., 69, of 1039 Grace Ave. died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at White Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Bobby Bailey, the Rev. Donald Tillman, and the Rev. Dr. Patti Tillman officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Calhoun Falls, Mr. Tillman was a son of the late Prince Albert Tillman Sr. and Ethel Hollis Tillman. He was the widower of Catherine Catoe Tillman. He was a member of White Springs Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries' Grace Bleachery. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his son, Prince Albert "Al" Tillman III of Lancaster; three daughters, Reneé Tillman of Lancaster, the Rev. Dr. Patti Tillman Simpson of Hilton Head and Kelly Tillman Sexton of Rock Hill; two brothers, Truman Tillman of Lancaster and T.W. Tillman of Columbia; two sisters, Berdie Hudson of Lancaster and Lois Ghent of Marshall, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to White Springs Baptist Church family life center fund, 1249 Grace Ave., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Ernestine Brantley

CHESTER - Mrs. Ernestine "Tenny" Brantley, 81, 908 Skyline Drive, Chester, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Red Bank, Mrs. Brantley was a daughter of the late Ira M. Smith and Daisy Mitchell Smith Thompson. She was the widow of Joseph Charles Brantley. A homemaker, she attended the Lexington County schools.

Surviving are her daughter, Amelia B. Dove of Chester; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.
