LUGOFF - Faye Lucas Dixon, 62, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hardshell Cemetery, with Rev. Clarence Dorman officiating.

A native of Lexington County, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Lavinia Kyzer Lucas.

Surviving are her husband, Cecil Dixon; her son, Robert L. Dixon of Lugoff; her daughter, Michele Dixon Hunt of Matthews, N.C.; and two sisters, Bettie Rish of West Columbia and Earlene Clem of Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff Elgin Chapel in Camden.

Tom Fordham

FORT MILL - Mr. Tom David Fordham, 72, of 7134 Westerleigh Road died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at home.

A private memorial service will be at a later date.

A native of Evanston, Ill., Mr. Fordham was a son of the late Lyle David and Katherine Babcock Fordham. Before retiring, he worked in the maintenance department of Package Products, Inc. in Charlotte. He was of the Episcopalian faith.

Surviving are his wife, Sherrell Anne Gordon Fordham; three sons, Tom J. Fordham of Mesa, Ariz., John L. Fordham of Highland Park, Ill., and James Fordham of Vernon Hills, Ill.; three daughters, Holly Fordham of Land O'Lakes, Wis., Connie Coffer of Wheatfield, Ind., and Pamela Bellanca of Greenville, Pa.; his brother, John Fordham of Ocala, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 South Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Connie Gibson

CHESTER - Mrs. Connie Reid Gibson, 68, of 523 Gage Street died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Barron Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Roddey officiating. Interment will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Gibson was s daughter of the late Jessie and Janet Reid. Mrs. Gibson attended Chester County schools, was a homemaker and wasa member of Mount Prospect United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Pressley Gibson Sr.; her son, Pressley "Tommy" Gibson Jr. of Rock Hill; three daughters, Shirley McMahan and Jeanette Robinson, both of Chester, Judy Croft of Blackstock; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

John Lyons III

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Mr. John Joseph Lyons III, 91, formerly of Rock Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at St. Joseph's Nursing Center in New Jersey.

A funeral will be Saturday in Lawrenceville. Entombment will be 7 p.m. in North Brunswick, N.J. Mass will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church in Fort Mill.

Mr. Lyons was a son of the late John Joseph Lyons Jr. and Sarah Ellen McGlynn. He was the widower of Florence Ruth Lyons. Mr. Lyons retired in 1987 from Smith Enterprises Inc. in Rock Hill, where he was sales manager. He was president of Berks-Montgomery Regional Holy Name Union in Reading, Pa., where he was instrumental in building and naming a high school. He received an honorary diploma in 1996.

Surviving are six children, Mary Prutzman of Annadale, Va., Patricia Mueller of Jamesburg, N.J., John J. Lyons IV of Allendale, N.J., Margaret Hagen of Rock Hill, Catherine Misner of Doylestown, Pa., and Florence Hurley of Charlotte; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today at the home of Margaret Hagen, 1052 Farm Pond Lane, Rock Hill.

Elmina McCarter

CLOVER - Mrs. Elmina Crawford McCarter, 76, of 224 Battleground Road died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at her home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bethany ARP Church, with the Rev. Allan Morrow officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

A native Gaston County, N.C, Mrs. McCarter was a daughter of the late James and Nannie Crawford. Mrs. McCarter was the widow of Anderson Delbert McCarter and was a member of Bethany ARP Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Shirley Davis, Nancy Callister, Susan Gordon and Roxanne Carroll, all of Clover; her brother, Alfred Crawford of Clover; her sister, Geneva Smith of Clover; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford Sons Funeral Home.

Frieda McCarter

LAKELAND, Fla. - Mrs. Frieda Gladding Worley McCarter, 81, of 2003 Spy Glass Court died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Lakeland Regional Hospital.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Crowders Creek ARP Church in Gastonia, N.C., with the Revs. Thomas Shoger and James McLurkin officiating. Interment will be at the church cemetery.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. tonight at Hope Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Fla., with the Rev. Thomas Shoger officiating.

Surviving are her husband, James R. McCarter; her son, Gordon Worley of Ocala, Fla.; two daughters, Christina Gartland of Baltimore and Anita Wilbers of St. Louis; her stepson, Craig McCarter of Manassas, Va.; her stepdaughter, Cathy Wolfinger of Mechanicsville, Md.; two brothers, Charles Gladding of Baltimore and Alfred Gladding of Atlanta; her sister, Amy Shimkus of Elicott City, Md.; her stepmother, Mildred Gladding of Greensboro, N.C.; her stepsister, Phyllis Smith of Greensboro, N.C.; and 12 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Mary Mims

LANCASTER - Mrs. Mary Emma Phillips Mims, 69, of 1118 Skipper Ave. died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at her home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Westside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Todd Robinson and Rev. Elton Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Kershaw County, Mrs. Mims was a daughter of the late John and Lily Phillips. Mrs. Mims retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, W.E. "Gene" Mims; two sons, Michael Mims and Robert Mims, both of Lancaster; two daughters, Terry Carter and Teresa Neal, both of Lancaster; her sister, Helen Barrett of Lancaster; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.

Rita Scalia

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Rita Arnone Scalia, 72, of 4900 Cedar Forest Drive died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at M.L. Ford Sons Funeral Home in Clover, with the Rev. Barry Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

A native of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Scalia was a daughter of the late Joseph Arnone and Antonia Loguidice Arnone. She was a graduate of Gar-field High School in Akron and was an accomplished vocalist, singing in the Big Band era with Louie Prima and in several operas. She was the widow of Salvatore Scalia.

Survivors are two daughters, Annamarie Mozdzierz of Charlotte and Antonia Corrigan of Clover; two sons, Thomas Scalia of Kent, Ohio, and Joseph Scalia of York; two brothers, Joseph Arnone of Kansas City, Mo., and Anthony Arnone of Akron; three sisters, Ann Arcuri, Angie Kelly and Mary Varca, all of Akron; 10 grandchildren; and her great-grandson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at M.L. Ford Sons.

Ola Sherer

ROCK HILL -Mrs. Ola S. Sherer, 92, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Beverly Health Care.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Revs. Dr. Shelton Sanford and Dr. William Fox officiating.

A native of York County, Mrs. Sherer was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Hill Stephenson. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of Clarence Sherer.

Surviving are three nieces and three nephews.

Burrell Sims

LANCASTER - Mr. Burrell Thomas Sims, 68, of 519 Old Dixie Road died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at New Life Christian Assembly, with the Revs. Bayliss Adimaro and Billy Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A Lancaster County native, Mr. Sims was a son of the late Doode Sims and Edna Mae Gardner Sims. He was retired from Johnston Mills, was a Master Mason of Masonic Hart Lodge No. 380 and was a member of New Life Christian Assembly Church.

Surviving are his wife, Annie Cauthen Sims; three sons, Willie Howard Sims, Harold T. Sims and Charles "Doug" Sims, all of Lancaster; two daughters, Diana Avant and Brenda Gardner, both of Lancaster; his sister, Nora Mae Hinson of Lancaster; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and his stepgreat-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

James Bennett

FORT MILL - Mr. James W. "Jim" Bennett, 76, of 506 Forest Way Drive died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Robert C. Monson officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Monroe, N.C., Mr. Bennett was a son of the late James Robert Bennett and Louise Elmore Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a retired production supervisor with General Tire in Charlotte, with more than

20 years' service. He was a Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Vivian Starnes Bennett; his son, James David Bennett; his brother, Bobby E. Bennett; two sisters, Helen McGuirt of Fort Mill and Joan Patterson of Orlando, Fla.; two grandchildren; and his great-grandson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral home and at other times at the home.

Edith Grohman

CLOVER - Mrs. Edith Louise Grohman, 68, of 115 Flatrock St. died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at M.L. Ford Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Grohman was a daughter of the late Hezekiah Bryson and Lillie Mae Saxon Goforth. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Melvin Grohman; her daughter, Shirley Ann Lane; her son, Eddie Earl Lane; her half brother, James Goforth of Gastonia; three sisters, Nina Mills of Gastonia, Ollie McCarter and Heilie McCarter, both of Clover; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford Sons Funeral Home.

Dalton Knight

LANCASTER - Mr. Dalton Knight, 82, of 1712 Shiloh Unity Road died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Zion United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Frank Lybrand officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Knight was a son of the late Arlin A. Knight and Willie Mae Stacks Knight. He was a retired supervisor for Springs Industries Lancaster Plant. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. He was a Mason with the Camp Creek Masonic Lodge No. 378 and a Shriner with the Hejaz Shrine Temple. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Knight Knight; his son, Dennis Knight of Durham, N.C.; three daughters, Donna Smith of Lancaster, Joyce Pethel of Chester and Girleen Scales of Woodstock, Calif.; three brothers, Arlin A. Knight Jr. of Lancaster, Charles Knight of Fort Mill and Dennis Knight of Durham; two sisters, Rebecca Holley and Doris Ray, both of Lancaster, four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
