Elisabeth Wieters Lominack Jones, of 1527 Clarkson Ave., Newberry died Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Jones was born in Charleston, a daughter of the late George F. and Jennie Anne Sindorf Wieters. She attended the public schools of Charleston and graduated from the College of Charleston. She was a homemaker and a member of Central United Methodist Church and Circle #5.
Mrs. Jones was twice married, first to the late Reyburn Williams Lominack,MD and second to Emerson Dwight Jones.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Emerson Dwight Jones of Newberry; one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Lisa Lominack) Longshore of Newberry; three sons, Reyburn Williams Lominack, Jr., Robert Bennett Lominack and Michael Emerson Jones all of Newberry; six grandchildren; Ashley Elisabeth Longshore Taylor, Edward Woodrow Longshore, II, Elizabeth Marrett Lominack, William Bennett Lominack, Reyburn Williams Lominack,III and Jennie Anne Lominack and two great grandchildren; Arrington Elisabeth Taylor and Catherine Cannon Taylor.
Graveside funeral services for Elisabeth Wieters Lominack Jones will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Bethany Cemetery in Charleston by the Rev. John Miller.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Carolinas Chapter, Bldg 7 Ste 217, Woodlawn Green Office Park, Charlotte, NC 29217 or to Central United Methodist Church, PO Box 67, Newberry SC 29108.

Dorothy Jennings Carter
September 20, 2003

Dorothy Jennings Carter, 92, of 51 Jennings Point, Prosperity, died Saturday, September 20, 2003 at the J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
Mrs. Carter was born on September 21, 1910 in Newberry, a daughter of the late John C. and Janie Nance Suber. Mrs. Carter was a business women, mother and housewife. Her life was filled with work, love and charity. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and a life member of the Newberry Garden Club.
Mrs. Carter was twice married, first to the late Wirt H. Jennings, Sr. and second to the late William “Bill” Carter.
Mrs. Carter is survived three sons and daughters-in-law, Wirt and Lou Jennings and Bryant and Pat Jennings, both of Prosperity and Jack and Coleman Jennings of Newberry; eleven grandchildrens, Ed Jennings, George Jennings, Mark Jennings, Jackie Ann Jennings, Ned Jennings, Tommy Jennings, Mike Jennings, Marti Hovator, Dottie Moore, Billy Buchanan, and Jimmy Buchanan. Mrs. Carter was predeceased by a daughter, Martha Jennings Conder and a grandson, Robert Jennings.
Funeral services for Dorothy Jennings Carter will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. John Miller and the Rev. Van Thomas. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 P. M. Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, PO Box 67, Newberry, SC 29108.

Rebecca Dawkins
Sept. 18, 2003

Rebecca Dawkins, 89, of Wesley Commons in Greenwood, died Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Miss Dawkins was born on December 19, 1913 in Newberry County, a daughter of the late Joe Frank and Lena Warner Dawkins. She was a private duty Nurse and graduated from Columbia Hospital of Richland County. She was long time member of Washington Street United Methodist Church and also a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Daughters of Confederacy.
Miss Dawkins is survived by two nieces, Jane Dawkins Hicklin of Charleston and Sue Dawkins Davis of Taylors; two nephews, Joe Walker Dawkins of Avon, CT and Patrick Warner Dawkins of Williamston and their families.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Sunday at Asbury Hall at Wesley Commons in Greenwood by Chaplain Carol Peppers-Wray. Graveside services will be conducted at 5:00 P. M. Sunday in Zion United Methodist Church in Prosperity by the Rev. Joe Blackwelder.
Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Winston F. "Frank" McCall
September 14, 2003

Winston F. “Frank” McCall, 60, of 964 Twin Ponds Road, Newberry, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. McCall was born on February 12, 1943 in Greenville County, a son of the late Andrew and Sophie McDonald McCall. He was a retired employee of Duke Power Co., attended the Prosperity Church of God, and was a member of the Easley Moose Lodge.
Mr. McCall is survived by his wife, Rosie Harris McCall of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Rob Wilson of Indianapolis IN; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Teri McCall of Summerville; two sisters, Mary Hurley of Clinton and Shirley Hawkins of Lockhart; three brothers, Ernest McCall of Temple TX, Sammy McCall of Greenville, and Billy McCall of Darlington; and a special niece Halley Koon of Newberry.
Funeral services for Winston F. “Frank” McCall will be conducted at 4:00 P. M. Tuesday at the Prosperity Church of God by the Rev. Bobby Lowman. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 P. M. Monday at the Whitaker Funeral Home. The family will be at the residence, 964 Twin Ponds Road, Newberry.
Memorials may be made to the Prosperity Church of God, PO Box 190, Prosperity, SC 29127 or to Palmetto Health Hospice, PO Box 352 Newberry SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Tony Harris, Jimmy McCall, Jim Spencer, James Spencer, Jackie Petty, James Harris, William McKinney, Leonard Foster, and Sam McCall.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dan and Fran Nance, Michael Hart, and Dr. Steven A. Matzinger.

K. Bruce "Buddy" Garner

K. Bruce “Buddy” Garner, 50, of 714 ˝ North Wheeler Ave., Prosperity, died Monday, September 8, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. Garner was born on July 8, 1953 in Newberry, a son of Jewel Bouknight Garner and the late C. Bruce Garner. He was a member of Wightman United Methodist Church, Prosperity Masonic Lodge # 115, York Rite Bodies, and the Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Mr. Garner is survived by his mother of Prosperity; a son, John E. “Coolie” Garner of Chapin; a sister, Carol Jean G. Fulmer of Prosperity; a brother, Mack Garner, Sr. of Prosperity; and a special great niece, Jessica Chapman of Newberry.
Graveside funeral services for K. Bruce “Buddy” Garner will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday at the Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. James Shealy.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Jewel B. Garner, 403 N. Main St., Prosperity.
Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Cripple Children, 950 W. Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605; Carolina Children Home, 3201 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29204; or to the Oliver Gospel Mission, 1100 Taylor St., Columbia SC 29201.

Dorothy Counts Bedenbaugh, 91, formerly of 429 South Main St., Prosperity, widow of B. Cornell Bedenbaugh, died Thursday, September 04, 2003 at the J.F.Hawkins Nursing Home.
Mrs. Counts was born on May 22, 1912 in Prosperity, a daughter of the late J. Arthur and Georgie Schumpert Counts. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for over 60 years.
Mrs. Bedenbaugh is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney L. and Mary A. Bedenbaugh of Prosperity; a daughter and son-in-law, Sally B. and David G. Sease of Alta Vista, VA; three granddaughters and spouses, Karen B. and Charles Smith of Gilbert, LeeAnn and Kinckle Robinson of Pamplin, VA, and the Rev. Lauren and Jeff Vanacore of Greensboro, NC; four great-grandchildren, Andrew and Alexandria Smith and Kincaid and Parks Robinson.
Funeral services for Dorothy Counts Bedenbaugh will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church by the Rev. Eric Fink. Interment will be in Prosperity Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the Whitaker Funeral Home. The family will be at the residence, 429 South Main Street, Prosperity.
