Sylvia Clem

Mrs. Sylvia Elizabeth Heaney Clem, 88, of 205 Ingram St. in Kershaw died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at White Oak Manor in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 8 p.m. Sunday at Cauthen Funeral Home's Kershaw Chapel, with the Revs. Robert Eubanks and Michael Morales officiating. Burial will be in Brown's Cemetery in Fairmont, W.Va.

A native of Fairmont, Mrs. Clem was the daughter of the late Hohn Hamilton and Ethel May Roach Heaney. She was the widow of the late Paul Wilson Clem Sr.

Surviving are two sons, Paul Clem Jr. of Kershaw and David S. Clem of Almena, Wis.; two brothers, Walter Raymond Heaney of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Jennings Robert Heaney of Nutley, N.J.; three sisters, Mary Katherine Bischoff of Houston, Texas, Pauline Marie Rush of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and Ethel Evelyn Storm of Worthington, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home's Kershaw Chapel in Kershaw and at other times at their home at 206 N. Matson St. in Kershaw.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 305 W. Church St. in Kershaw.

Dixie Gladden

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dixie Adams Gladden, 89, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating.

A native of York County, Mrs. Gladden was a daughter of the late Robert Wheeler and the late Sally Wheeler. She was the widow of Everette Gladden. Mrs. Gladden retired from Rock Hill Printing &Finishing Company and was a member of the former White Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Walters of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be sent to Park Ridge Baptist Church, P.O. Box 4048, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

The family will receive friends after the service at the home of Mary Walters, 1155 Melrose Drive.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Ernest Gladney Jr.

CHESTER - Mr. Ernest Dennis Gladney Jr., 39, of 109 Lowry St. died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Brown's Chapel AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Otha L. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Gladney was a son of Ernest Gladney Sr. and Anna Gladney. He was member of Brown's Chapel AME Zion Church and was a 1980 graduate of Chester High School. Mr. Gladney was a former employee of the Chester County school district.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Johnny Rambert of Chester; and two sisters, Jacqueline Gladney and Ernestine Clifton, both of Chester.

The family will receive friends at the residence. The body will be carried to the church at 2 p.m. Monday and may be viewed from 2 to 9 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

Dixie Gladden

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dixie Adams Gladden, 89, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Walters of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and seven grandchildren.

Virginia Huey

LANCASTER - Mrs. Virginia Helms Huey, 90, of Lancaster died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at the White Oak Manor in Lancaster.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Unity ARP Church, with the Rev. Guy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Born in Lancaster, Mrs. Huey was a daughter of the late James Helms and Josie Helms. She was a homemaker and was a member of Unity ARP Church.

Mrs. Huey was the widow of William David Huey.

Surviving are her daughter, Gladys Cox of Lancaster; her son, Harold Huey of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Jerry Johnson

CARLISLE - Mr. Jerry H. "Frog" Johnson, 48, of 7712 Ashford Ferry Road, formerly of Charlotte, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Old Hope Station Baptist Church in Fairfield County, with the Revs. David Rice officiating and Moses Lightner delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Spartanburg County, Mr. Johnson was a son of Sarah Johnson of Carlisle and the late Eddie Gist. He was a member of the Old Hope Station Baptist Church and attended Fairfield County public schools.

Surviving in addition to his mother are five brothers, Ronald Johnson of Blair, James Johnson of Chester, Spencer Johnson and Roy Johnson, both of Carlisle and Bernard Johnson of Rock Hill; and his sister, Nancy Davis of Chester.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

The body will be carried to the church at 2 p.m. Monday. The body may be viewed from 2 to 9 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

Earl J. McGuirt

FORT MILL- Mr. Earl J. McGuirt, 75, of Walker Street in Fort Mill died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at McCloud Regional Medical Center in Florence.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Fort Mill, with the Rev. Jeff Bedwell and Rev. Ralph Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill.

A native of Union County, Mr. McGuirt was the son of the late Will and Ona Griffin McGuirt. He retired from Springs Industries, was a member of First Baptist Church and was a member of the Catawba Masonic Lodge of Fort Mill.

Surviving are his wife, Edith Hicks McGuirt of Darlington; his daughter, Sharon Wyche of Florence; and his granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to noon today at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 121 Monroe White St. in Fort Mill.

Hobart Rayfield

ROCK HILL - Mr. Hobart Ashley Rayfield, 84, of 1611 Constitution Blvd. died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Burial will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Forest Hills Cemetery. The funeral will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Woodland United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Lee Bryant and David Taylor officating.

A native of Tennessee, Mr. Rayfield was a son of the late Andrew Jackson Rayfield and Caladonia Whaley Rayfield. He was the widower of Mary Hill Rayfield.

Mr. Rayfield was a retired United Methodist minister from the Holston Conference in East Tennessee after 25 years of service. He taught school and was a principal in East Tennessee for 18 years. He was a 32nd degree mason in Tennessee.

Surviving are two daughters, Lucy R. Cate of Rock Hill and Emily R. Fair of Sellersburg, Ind.; his brother, Emert Rayfield of Lenoir City, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Roy Sigler

KERSHAW - Mr. Roy Sigler, 75, of 206 N. Matson St. died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Kershaw Medical Center in Camden.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Robert Eubanks and Bryant D. Fersner Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

Born in Ashland, Ohio, Mr. Sigler was a son of the late Royal Sylvester and Georgia Sigler. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he taught the men's Bible class, was chairman of the Board of Trustees and was a member of the choir. Mr. Sigler was a former band director and special education teacher in the Lancaster County school district.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Gay Simpson Sigler; his son, Richard S. Sigler of Ocala, Fla.; his half brother, John Sigler of Mansfield, Ohio; two half sisters, Sara Oxander and Grace Anne Martin, both of Ashland; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Bolden Waters Jr.

CHESTER - Mr. Bolden Clarence "B.C." Waters Jr., 72, of 704 Rolling Meadow Road died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Beverly Health Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Chester Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Mark Chapman officiating.

A native of Monticello, Ga., Mr. Waters was a son of the late Bolden Clarence Waters Sr. and Cora Lloyd Waters. A retired electrician, Mr. Waters was a graduate of Monticello High School and served in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine M. "Dean" Waters; two sons, Ronald Waters of Jamesport, Mo., and Jeffery Waters of Olathe, Kan.; his daughter, Jenny Yates of Sandersville, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Beverly Winchester of Chester and Suzanne Cook of Rock Hill; his stepson, Buddy D. Vess of Springfield, Va.; his sister, Hazel Westfalls of Warner-Robbins, Ga.; his brother, William O. Waters of Memphis, Tenn.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Barron Funeral Home.

James Adams

ROCK HILL - Mr. James W. "Kudda" Adams, 48, of 1021 Henderson St. died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Archie Stover officiating and the Rev. Billy Wilson assisting. Burial will be at the Crossroads Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Adams was a son of the late William Biggers and Fannie Elizabeth Adams. He attended York County public schools.

Surviving are his son, Antonio Mitchell of Rock Hill; his daughter, Della Rene Mitchell of Rock Hill; three brothers, Clayton Adams, Barry Adams and Gary Adams, all of Rock Hill; his sister, Elizabeth Ann Adams of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service Wednesday.

The family will receive friends at 623 Chestnut St. and at 747 S. Spruce St.
