David Watson

KERSHAW - Mr. David Edward Watson, 16, of 5935 Center Grove Road died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Midway Baptist Church, with the Revs. Randall Runion and Donnie Barrett officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Camden, Mr. Watson was a son of Darlene Sims Watson Munn and the late Donald Franklin Watson. He was a 10th-grade student at Andrew Jackson High School and was a member of the Midway Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his stepfather, Roger P. Munn; two brothers, Phillip D. Watson of Lancaster and Patrick L. Watson of Fort Jackson; his paternal grandfather, Earl Watson of Kershaw; his paternal grandmother, Margie Watson of Kershaw; his maternal grandmother, Janet E. Sims of Kershaw; and his paternal stepgrandmother, Henrietta Munn of Sumter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel and other times at the home, 5935 Center Grove Road.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Jack Carnes

LANCASTER - Mr. Jack Carnes, 78, of 1079 Hampton Grace Ave. died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at White Springs Baptist Church, with Dr. Bobby Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Carnes was a son of the late Sam Carnes Sr. and Mandy Knight Carnes. He was a Mason with the Hart Masonic Lodge No. 380 and was a member of White Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are three brothers, Sam Carnes Jr., Lane Carnes and Bargen Carnes, all of Lancaster; and two sisters, Thelma Williams of Pageland and Sulee Scheider of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to White Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 1249 Grace Avenue, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Wesley Cockman

CLOVER - Mr. Wesley Clement Cockman, 64, of 428 Blythe Court died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Elijah Cockman and Chaplain Larry Fowler officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of Asheboro, N.C., Mr. Cockman was a son of Callie Cockman of Greensboro, N.C., and the late Rev. William Cockman.

Mr. Cockman worked in the residential construction business, where he started in floor finishing in the sixth grade.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Lola Cockman of Clover; two sons, Rusty Cockman and Ronald Cockman, both of Clover; his daughter, Robin Payton of Clover; two brothers, the Rev. Elijah Cockman of Hendersonville, N.C., and John Cockman of Sherrills Ford, N.C.; four sisters, Mary Fowler of Greensboro, N.C., Sarah Myers of Hopkins, Virginia Speaks of Statesville, N.C., and Margaret Kitchel of Knoxville, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover.

Gene Cook

PINEVILLE, N.C. - Mr. Gene Edgar Cook, 62, of Pineville, N.C., died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Mercy South Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Stough Memorial Baptist Church, with the Revs. Grady Faulk, Lee Davis and Jerry Cook officiating. Burial will be at Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Fort Mill, Mr. Cook was a son of Florence Cook and the late William Cook. He was the widower of Marlene Cook.

Mr. Cook was a member of Stough Memorial Baptist Church and was retired from Winn-Dixie after 26 years as a truck driver and from ESP Associates.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his son, Dennis Cook of Heath Springs; three daughters, Penny Collins of Fort Mill, Recia Brock and Gena Penley, both of Pineville; his brother, the Rev. Jerry Cook of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Geraldine Wright of Pineville, and Etheline "Granny" Dabbs of Conway; two stepdaughters, Sharlene Wright and Tracey Moody, both of Pineville; his stepson, Tommy Moody of Fort Mill; seven grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 tonight at McEwen Funeral Service, Pineville Chapel and other times at the house at 411 Fisher St., Pineville.

Memorials may be made to a church of the donor's choice.

Parks Davis

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Parks Blair Davis, 72, of Charlotte died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Integrated Health Services.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Avondale Presbyterian Church, with Dr. John Earl officiating.

A native of Union County, N.C., Mr. Davis was a son of the late John Davis and Sarah Braswell Davis. He retired after 35 years with Carolina Trailways, where he won awards for more than 1 million miles of safe driving.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Talbert Davis; three daughters, Betty Hamilton of Huntersville, N.C., Deborah Farmer of Lancaster, and Donna Cottingham of Columbia; three sisters, Ruth Faulkner and Elizabeth Rush, both of Albemarle, N.C., and Georgia Rinden of Anaheim, Calif.; four grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.

Foda Ellis

LANCASTER - Mrs. Foda Mae Adams Ellis, 84, of 2358 Old Blackmon Lane died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Mahaffey Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Homer Moore officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Pageland, Mrs. Ellis was a daughter of the late Cebe Adams and Reddie Adams. She was a homemaker and was the widow of Leroy Ellis.

Surviving are six daughters, Shirley Robinson, Sandra Poston, Pat Cauthen, Mary Bowers, all of Lancaster, Barbara Estridge of Gastonia, N.C., and Wincie Jane Dixon of Augusta, Ga.; her sister, Eva Anderson of Belmont, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Homecare of Lancaster, 800 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Macon Henderson Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Macon Henderson Jr. of 268 Lucky Lane died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Prospect Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.D. Montgomery officiating. The Rev. W.B. White will eulogize, with the Revs. Richard Graham, Roderick Pendleton and Dr. H.S. Diggs assisting. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Henderson was a son of the late Macon Henderson Sr. and Cora Sanders Henderson.

Mr. Henderson attended York County public schools. He graduated from Emmett Scott High School and Friendship Junior College. He was a veteran of World War II and received an honorable discharge. He was a finishing carpenter and was a retiree of Celanese Corp. after 40 years of service. He was a member of Mount Prospect Baptist Church, where he served on the board of trustees and the adult choir. He was a member of the Christian Burial Aid Society, AP&B Society, VFW Post No. 3746 and Rose Sharon Masonic Lodge No. 156.

Surviving are his wife, Macie Robinson Henderson; two sons, Macon Jerome Henderson and Arthur Wynman Henderson, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Lillian Arveta Henderson of Pineville, N.C., and Macie Wynonna Henderson of Rock Hill; his brother Sanders Henderson of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the church.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge.

William Hilton

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Mr. William Hoyle Hilton, 81, of 1008 S. Juniper St. died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis, with the Rev. Donald Hawkins officiating.

A native of York County, Mr. Hilton was a son of the late Sidney Hilton and Sara Frances Allen Hilton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired textile worker who attended the York Church of God.

Surviving are his son, James Hilton of Armstrong, Ill.; two daughters, Jean Horton of Bullock Creek and Connie Howe of Robbinsville, N.C.; his sister, Myrtle Allen of Clover; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home in York and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Whitley Funeral Home in Kannapolis.

George Love Sr.

CAMDEN - Mr. George Edwin Love Sr., 82, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Hermitage Baptist Church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A native of Kings Creek, Mr. Love was a son of the late John Robert Love Sr. and Macie Bird Love.

Mr. Love was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, was a member of the Hermitage Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon, and was a former member of the Fort Mill Lions Club. He was a graduate of Wofford College and was a retired agent, staff manager and district manager with Southland Life Insurance Company.

Surviving are his wife, Rebecca "Rob" Smith Love; his son, George "Eddie" Love Jr. of Columbia; his daughter, Judy Hughes of Greenville; two brothers, John Love Jr. of La Grange, Ga. and William Love of Columbia; three sisters, Elma Martin of Williston; Nancy Allen of Clemson and Catherine Barrett of Fort Mill; and his grandson.

Memorials may be made to Hermitage Baptist Church building fund, 814 Jefferson Davis Highway, Camden, SC 29020.

Dorothy Poole

YORK - Mrs. Dorothy Satterfield Poole, 69, of 221 Austin Acres died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Beverly Health Care.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Revs. Gardner Koch and Ronald Fite officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Poole was a daughter of the late Henry Sloan Satterfield and Emma Jeanette Clinton Satterfield.

Mrs. Poole was a member of First Church of Nazarene and was a retiree of Everlock Inc. She was a homemaker and was the widow of Cole L. Poole Sr.

Surviving are her son, Cole Poole Jr. of the home; her daughter, Joyce Sanderson of Rock Hill; four brothers, Bobby Satterfield of Columbia, and James Satterfield, Henry Satterfield and Thomas Satterfield, all of York; four sisters, Jane Mallard and Jean Muckenfuss, both of Tucson, Ariz., Thelma Green of Chester, and Ann Muckenfuss of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill and other times at the home of her daughter, Joyce Sanderson, 14 Graham St., Rock Hill.

Ruth Preston

YORK - Mrs. Ruth Wade Preston, of 603 Hunter St. died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Wright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Hunter officiating.

Surviving are her daughter, Adrianne Jewel of Fair Play; her sister, Bertha Stewart of Columbia; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ivory Price

RICHBURG - Mrs. Ivory M. Simpson Price, 59, of 4441 Hunter Road died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Loving Charity Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.J. Baxter officiating and the Revs. Sam Latta and Moses Lightner assisting. Burial will follow at Mount Nebo AME Zion Church.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Price was a daughter of the late Asie Simpson and Eliza Scott Simpson.

She was a member of the Loving Charity Baptist Church, where she was the leader of the food committee, was a pastor's aide and was an usher. She was a former member of the Mount Nebo AME Zion Church and also was a member of Dew Drop Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 113.

She attended Finley High School in Chester and was a former nurse at Presbyterian Hospital and Hawthorne Nursing Center in Charlotte.

Surviving are her husband, Samuel Price of Charlotte; three sons, Robert Simpson of Richburg and Jeffery Price and Neal Price, both of Charlotte; her daughter, Anita Douglas of Fort Lawn; her sister, Azalee Caldwell of Richburg; two brothers, Ernest Simpson of Richburg and Levester Simpson of Great Falls; and 11 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the residence. There will be Eastern Star Rites at 7 p.m. Tuesday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester. The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to noon Wedhnesday at King's Funeral Home.

Lucille Shillinglaw

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lucille Burnette Shillinglaw, 92, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Winter Park Memorial Hospital in Winter Park, Fla.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Rock Hill, with her grandson, the Rev. Kirk Nowery officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Shillinglaw was a daughter of the late Charles Burnette and Ola Roberts Burnette. She retired from J.C. Penney and was a former member of First Baptist Church and Catawba Baptist Church in Rock Hill.

Mrs. Shillinglaw was the widow of John Shillinglaw.

Surviving are her son, John Shillinglaw of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Peggy Nowery of Ocala, Fla. and Ann Taylor of Casselberry, Fla.; her brother, Charles Burnette of Rock Hill; two sisters, Ruby Motz and Iris Hughes, both of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bass Funeral home in Rock Hill, and other times at the home of Dr. Doug Hughes, 1004 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill.
