Robert Buchanan

LANCASTER - Mr. Robert Ishmeal Buchanan, 78, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, in White Oak Manor in Lancaster.

A native of Shelby, N.C., Mr. Buchanan was a son of the late Robert Avery and Lucille Connor Buchanan. He was a retired trucker and commercial builder.

Surviving are four sons, Stephen Buchanan, Brian Eric Buchanan and Robert Pat Buchanan, all of Fort Mill, and James Avery Buchanan of Choudrant, La.; his daughter, Sherrill Buchanan of Lancaster; three brothers, Ronnie Buchanan and Edmund Buchanan, both of Fort Mill, and A.C. Buchanan of Jefferson; three sisters, Lois Bennett of Rock Hill, Gail Buchanan of Charlotte and Glenn Buchanan; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the home of Chris Threatt, 302 Chesterfield Ave., Lancaster.

Mahaffey Funeral Home is in charge.

Margaret DeLuca

OLDSMAR, Fla. - Mrs. Margaret Martinak DeLuca, 69, of Countryside Key Boulevard died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla.

A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Mount St. Peter Cemetery in Derby, Conn.

A native of Glen Ridge, N. J., Mrs. DeLuca was the widow of Robert DeLuca and a licensed practical nurse.

Surviving are two daughters, Debra Horne of Milford, Conn., and Gail Little of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

Cody-White Funeral Home of Milford, Conn. is in charge.

Nancy DeWitt

CHESTER - Mrs. Nancy Helen Proctor DeWitt, 79, of 161 1/2 Harris St. died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Chester Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Chip Sneed officiating.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. DeWitt was a daughter of the late William George Proctor and Viola McGarity Proctor. Mrs. DeWitt was retired from Schlegel and was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was a 1938 graduate of Oakley Hall School.

Surviving are her husband, Wilson M. DeWitt; her daughter, Jean Holder of Lexington; two grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 651 Great Falls Highway, Chester, SC 29706.

Norma Gardner

KERSHAW - Mrs. Norma McPherson Gardner, 78, of 1263 Charlie Johnson Road died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Buffalo Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bill Morris and Donald Coppedge officiating. Burial will be at Kershaw City Cemetery.

Born in Chesterfield, Mrs. Gardner was a daughter of the late Walter Graham McPherson. She was a member of the Buffalo Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Leroy Gardner; two sons, Robert L. "Bob" Gardner Jr. or Frederick, Md., and Thomas G. Gardner of Camden; his daughter, Patricia E. Gardner of Springfield, Mass.; six half-brothers, Ray McPherson of Hartsville and Donnie McPherson, Basil McPherson, Hazel McPherson, Gary D. McPherson and W.G. McPherson, all of Bethune; three half-sisters, Martha M. Byrd of Jefferson, Jean Byrd of Sumter and Cleoia McPherson of Bethune; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Leroy Ghent

LANCASTER - Mr. Leroy Ghent, 87, of 517 Central Ave. died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First ARP Church, with the Revs. Gilbert Rowell and Dr. Roy E. Beckham officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Ghent was the son of the late Charlie Ghent and the late Mary Sweatt Ghent. He was a member of First ARP Church and was retired from Springs Industries.

Surviving are three daughters, Pauline G. McManus and Alana G. Newton, both of Lancaster and Frances McManus of Titusville, Fla.; his brother, Clyde Ghent of Lancaster; four sisters, Fannie Proctor, Myrtle Byrd and Minnie Lee Smith, all of Lancaster, and Jessie Cameron of York; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Lewis Hegler Sr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Lewis Allen Hegler Sr., 55, of 2698 Cimmeron Road died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with the Revs. Dr. Stuart Snow and James Wilhide officiating. Entombment will be at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Hegler was a son of the late William Robert Hegler Jr. and Faye Dorothy Miller Hegler. He was the widower of Jeanette Lee Hegler. He was a retired employee of Springs Industries and was employed by Marty Harper Construction. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Lewis Allen Hegler Jr. and Casey Lewis Perry Hegler, both of Lancaster; two daughters, Leigh Ann Belk and Susan Vincent, both of Lancaster; two brothers, William "Billy" Hegler and Frank Hegler, both of Lancaster; four grandchildren; and his fianc?e, Darlene Humphries of Lancaster.

Myrtle Linderman

YORK - Mrs. Myrtle Few Linderman, 89, of 1569 N. Highway 321 died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Pied-mont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alan Price officiating and the Rev. John J. Linderman Jr. assisting. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of Greenville, Mrs. Linderman was a daughter of the late Robert B. Few and Cora Lee DeShields Few. She was the widow of Charles Dee Linderman. A homemaker, she was a member of Union Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, John Linderman Sr. of Kings Mountain, N.C.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Frank McElveen Jr.

CLOVER - Mr. Frank McElveen Jr., 48, of 1511 Carroll Falls Road died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Mountain View Baptist Church in Kings Creek, with the Revs. Harold Beam and Sam Snyder officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Gastonia, N.C., Mr. McElveen was a son of Gladys Dishroon McElveen of Gastonia and the late Frank McElveen Sr. He was a retired textile worker in Gastonia.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Bonnie Jenkins McElveen; four brothers, Claude McElveen, Roy McElveen and Harvey McElveen, all of Gastonia, and Dean McElveen of Lowell; and three sisters, Etta Smith of Gastonia, Helen Cagle of Dallas, N.C., and Wanda McBee of Mount Holly.

Elize McFarland

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mr. Elize Howard McFarland, 89, of South Haven Rest Home died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Gordon Mortuary in Blacksburg, with the Rev. Berson M. Hodges officiating. Burial will be at Canaan United Methodist Church in Smyrna.

A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Mr. McFarland was a son of the late Julius McFarland and Mandy Weaver McFarland. He was a retired textile worker.

Surviving are his nephew, Carlous Hullett of York and his niece, Elizabeth Phillips of Clover.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Gordon Mortuary.

Miranda Minter

CHESTER - Ms. Miranda Loraine "Rainey" Minter, 17, of 119 Caldwell St. died Sunday, Jan 9, 2000.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Gethsemane Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Charles D. Pratt officiating and the Revs. E. E. Vance and Joe Lee assisting. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Ms. Minter was a daughter of Roy Minter and the late Ellen L. Phillips. She was an 11th-grader at Chester High School and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where she was a member of the youth department, the junior choir and the team Sunday school class.

Surviving in addition to her father are her brother, Marlon Phillips of Chester; two sisters, Heidi Phillips and Tara Phillips, both of Chester; her paternal grandfather, Willie E. Minter of Elizabeth N.J.; her paternal grandmother, Willie B. Minter of Elizabeth N.J.; her maternal grandfather, Clarence Phillips of Philadelphia; her maternal grandmother, Constance Phillips of the home; and her maternal great-grandmother, Josie L. Wright of the home.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body may be viewed from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Susan Mullis

LANCASTER - Mrs. Susan West Mullis, 83, formerly of Union, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Larry Plyler and Joe Stover officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Marion, N.C., Mrs. Mullis was a daughter of the late George West and Elsie Bradley West. She was the widow of Thomas Mullis. Mrs. Mullis was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Edward Mullis of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Edward Mullis, 1540 Billy Kirk Road, Lancaster.

Janice Taylor

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Janice Lambert Taylor, 50, of 1372 Flintwood Drive died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at home.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Forest Hills Cemetery, with the Revs. James Herron and Roland Dry officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Taylor was a daughter of the Rev. Carl W. and Lillie Simmons Lambert. She was a member of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church in Fort Mill. She was a former hair stylist and worked in Rock Hill and Fort Mill for 20 years. For the past 10 years, she worked as a customer service manager with Sears.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, Guerry S. Taylor; her son, Matthew S. Taylor of Rock Hill; her daughter, Ashley Taylor McClain of Fort Mill; her sister, Marilyn L. McNeely of Fort Mill; her brother, Ernest "Buddy" Lambert of Rock Hill; and her granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Lula Walker

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lula S. Nash Walker, 77, of 1003 Patriot Way died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. L.L. Hancock officiating and the Revs. Ira Roddey and Mary Alston assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Fort Mill, Mrs. Walker was a daughter of the late George Sherman and Margaret Steele. She was a retired cook at Shaw's Restaurant. She was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Hymn Choir. She attended the George Fish School in Fort Mill.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Nash of Rock Hill and Phillip Nash of San Bernadino, Calif.; her sister, Lena Crockett of Philadelphia;

14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at First Calvary Baptist Church and at other times at 752 Rockwood Drive, Rock Hill.

Dorothy Atchison

WASHINGTON - Mrs. Dorothy Atchison, 57, formerly of 6 Cedar St., Great Falls, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, in Washington.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Great Falls.

A native of Great Falls, Mrs. Atchison was a daughter of the late Maggie Lee Patterson. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Great Falls.

Surviving are her daughter, Shyvonne Atchison of Washington; her sister, Juanita Bank of Georgia; and her granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls.
