ROCK HILL - Mrs. Geneva Lavender Wilson, 92, of 261 S. Herlong Ave. died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Beverly Health Care Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev Jerry Sosebee officiating.

A native of Gaffney, Mrs. Wilson was a daughter of the late Jasper Lavender and Sally Adkins Lavender. She was the widow of Norwood Wilson. She was retired from J.P. Stevens Aragon Plant in Rock Hill.

Surviving is her daughter, June W. McCoy of Fort Mill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 1140 Curtis St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Lois Parrish

CLOVER - Mrs. Lois Brackett Parrish, 84, 503 Bethel St. died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Woodside Cemetery, with the Rev. Paul Hutchison officiating.

A native of York County, Mrs. Parrish was a daughter of the late Harry Brackett and Frances Perry Brackett. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, James C. Parrish; her son, Harry B. Parrish of Clover; three daughters, Shannon P. Amick and Becky P. Redmond, both of Clover, and Linda P. Spooner of Greenville; her brother, Lanford Brackett; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church building fund, 124 Bethel St., Clover, SC 29710. M.L. Ford Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Sager Powell

LANCASTER - Mr. Sager Powell, 77, of 508 N. Jackson Road died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at White Oak Manor in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Revs. Charles Hendricks, Curtis Cameron and James Goodman officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Danville, Va., Mr. Powell was the son of the late Glenny "G.J." Powell and Sudie Lambert Powell. Mr. Powell was retired from Springs Industries, Carding Department Lancaster Plant, was a retired gospel disc jockey with WLCM radio station for 30 years, was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, was a Mason with the Hart Masonic Lodge No. 380 and was in the Air Force during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Cauthen Powell; three daughters, Dianne Cassels of Jackson and Carol Adams and Mary Etta Williams, both of Lancaster; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.

Richard Sellers

LANCASTER - Mr. Richard "Rickey" Franklin Sellers Jr., 35, of 2151 Cane Mill Road died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Christian Assembly Church, with the Rev. Marvin Tennant officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Sellers was the son of Sybil Ruth Kelly Sellers and the late Richard Franklin Sellers Sr.

Mr. Sellers was disabled and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Cynthia Broughton Sellers; his son, Timothy Wheeler Sellers; his daughter, Tiffany Nicole Sellers; two brothers, Ronny Threatt Sr. of Conway and Harmon Sellers of Lancaster; and his sister, Rebecca Coley of Fort Lawn.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Joshua Shrader

HEATH SPRINGS - Joshua Clay Shrader, 12, of 4124 Rob Neal Road died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at his home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday at Flint Bridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Neal officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Camden, he was a son of Larry Carl Shrader and Robin Christine Bass Shrader. He was a member of Flint Ridge Baptist Church and was a student at Andrew Jackson Middle School.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Jacob Carl Shrader of Heath Springs; his maternal grandparents, Billy and Margaret White of Camden; and his maternal great-grandmother, Edna Bowers of Kershaw.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the home of Charles and Judy Sullivan, 2461 Cinnamon Drive in Heath Springs and from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel.

Mae Lewis Tipton

ERWIN, Tenn. - Mrs. Mae Lewis Tipton, 94, of 122 Witcher Lane died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Unicoi County Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 8 p.m. Friday at the Ledford Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Thurman Sullivan officiating. A graveside service and burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Bee Log, N.C., Mrs. Tipton was a daughter of the late Dave Lewis and Deborah Justice Lewis. She lived in Yukon, W.Va., before moving to Erwin in 1956. She was a homemaker, was a charter member of the Mountain Dale Freewill Baptist Church and had attended Unicoi Freewill Baptist Church. She was the widow of Dock Witt Tipton.

Surviving are four sons, Floyd Edwards, Harry Edwards and J.D. Tipton, all of Erwin, and Russell Tipton of Augusta, Ga.; two daughters, Jeanette McCurry of Rock Hill and Geraldine "Gerry" Ray of Erwin; her sister, Lucy Johnson of Erwin; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ledford Funeral Home and other times at the home of Geraldine Ray, 108 Chelsea Drive, Erwin, Tenn.

William Addison Jr.

FORT MILL - Mr. William Ancrum Addison Jr., 77, of 1219 Heritage Court died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be noon Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Jack Hardaway officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Charleston, Mr. Addison was a son of the late William A. Addison Sr. and Louise Sahlmann Addison. He was the widower of Eloise Hightower Addison. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was retired from Piedmont Natural Gas. He was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, a 50-year member of Catawba Lodge No. 56 AFM, was a Shriner and was a Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are his son, William A. Addison III of Fort Mill; two daughters, Ogreta A. Edwards of Fort Mill and Carol A. Addison of Union Mills, N.C.; four grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Easter Star and Masonic Rites will be at 6 tonight at St. Paul's Episcopal Church fellowship hall after which the family will receive friends.

Memorials may be made to the Eloise Hightower Addison Endowed Scholarship, Columbia College, 1301 Columbia College Drive, Columbia, SC 29203.

Elvin Brown

KERSHAW - Mr. Elvin Brown, 60, of 2976 Ray Road died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Shamrock Baptist Church, with the Revs. Odell Sullivan, Odell Mosley and W.J. Gainey officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Bishopville, Mr. Brown was a son of the late Leo Brown and Geneva Jones Brown. He was a member of Shamrock Baptist Church and was a mechanic with Raley Auto Sales.

Surviving are his son, Gene Brown of Kershaw; his daughter, Jackie Riccardi of Lenoir City, Tenn.; three half brothers, Pete Mosier of the U.S. Armed Forces, Henry Mosier of Florida and Frankie Mosier of Gastonia, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Joey and Sandra Freeman, 2959 Ray Road, Kershaw.

Vera Ghant

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Vera Brock Ghant, 63, of 339 Frayser St. died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Baker officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Bennettsville, Mrs. Ghant was a daughter of the late Ross Brock and Kathleen Gainey Brock. She was the widow of Richard Ghant Sr. Mrs. Ghant was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. She was retired from Everlock Inc. in Charlotte, where she worked for more than 12 years.

Surviving are three sons, Marvin Ghant and Tommy E. Ghant, both of the home, and Richard D. Ghant Jr. of Rock Hill; her daughter, Diane Ghant of Rock Hill; her brother, Charlie Brock of Rock Hill; two sisters, Helen Morris of Ellabelle, Ga., and Frances Owensby of Columbia; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Sadie Pritchard

CHESTER - Mrs. Sadie Johnson Gatteys Pritchard, 89, formerly of 153 West End Apartments, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Mason officiating.

A native of Grenada, Miss., Mrs. Pritchard was a daughter of the late William Abraham Johnson and Louisa Jane Dugard Johnson. She was the widow of James Vassar Gatteys and Morris Ladell Pritchard. A homemaker, she was a member of the Mary Adair Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a member of the Kings Daughters. She was a member of First Church Christ Scientist in Memphis, Tenn., and was a graduate of Grenada High School.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jane Stallworth of Chester and Barbara Ann Roper of Memphis; her sister, Maurice Head of Bentonville, Ark.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the home of Mary Jane and T.A. Stallworth, 102 Sunset Drive, Chester.

Virginia McCoy

SHARON - Mrs. Virginia Nichols McCoy, 70, of 3127 McCaw Road died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Zion AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Emmett Browning officiating. Burial will be at Wilson Chapel AME Zion Church cemetery.

A native of Hickory Grove, Mrs. McCoy was a daughter of the late Oscar Nichols and Mary Jamison Nichols. She was a member of Mount Zion AME Zion Church, where she was a member of the hymn choir, usher board, home missions worker, class leader, missionary society, deaconess and senior singing convention. She also was a member of the Wilson Chapel Gospel Chorus and the Prince Riley Chapter No. 30, Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are three sons, Oscar McCoy of the home, Edward McCoy of Gastonia, N.C., and Jeffery McCoy of Sharon; two daughters, Cathy Jones of Sharon and Brenda Williams of York; three brothers, R.J. Nichols of York and Therial Nichols and G.W. Nichols of Charlotte; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Home in York.

Sadie Whitlock

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Sadie Canty Whitlock, 63, of 20 Yesebehena Road died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints Catawba Ward, with Bishop Pieter Reynders officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Whitlock was a daughter of the late Billy C. Canty and Catherine Sanders Canty. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Catawba Ward.

Surviving are two sons, Paul M. Carpenter of Anchorage, Alaska, and Chris S. Carpenter Jr. of Rock Hill; two daughters, Glenda C. Martin of Charlotte and Sandra C. Edgar of China Grove; two brothers, Huey A. Canty and Clifford T. Canty, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Billie Anne McKellar and Geraldine C. Tinker, both of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Arthur Austin

HAMPTON, Va. - Mr. Arthur Austin of 1411 Wood Crest Drive, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at Sentana Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Dafford Funeral Home in Dunn, N.C. Burial will be in Dunn.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel Austin; and his sister, Pauline Austin of Rock Hill.

Kenneth Bailey Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Kenneth "Ken" Lee Bailey Sr., 59, of 1483 McConnells Hwy. died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Mechanicsville, Va., Mr. Bailey was a son of Guy Malcolm Bailey and Maggie Melvin Bailey. He was retired from St. Jo Container Co. in Charlotte and was employed with Chemron as a technical support consultant. He was a Navy veteran and member of Woodland United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his son, Kenneth Lee Bailey Jr. of Rock Hill; three daughters, Cindi Bailey Misskelley of Charlotte, Julie Kaye Bailey and Suzie Bailey, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Barbara Chase of Kingsport, Tenn., and Debra Bostic of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.
