Terrell McDonald

FORT MILL - Mr. Terrell Lamar McDonald, 77, of 10371 Barberville Road died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Munson officiating and the Rev. Joe Tysinger assisting. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Monroe, Ga., Mr. McDonald was a son of the late L.J. McDonald and Alice Tallent McDonald. He was retired from Wilkerson Oil Co. and was the owner of McDonald's Heating Air Conditioning Service. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and a Mason with Catawba Lodge No. 56. A veteran of World War II, he served with the 321st Infantry.

Surviving are his wife, Thelma Burrage McDonald; two sons, Terrell McDonald of Greenville and Keith McDonald of Dallas; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at St. John's United Methodist Church and at other times at home.

Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church building fund, 130 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, SC 29715 and to the National Lung Association.

James Parrish

CLOVER - Mr. James C. Parrish, 84, of 503 Bethel St. died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodside Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. William K. Neely and the Rev. Paul Paul Hutchison officiating.

Mr. Parrish served as Clover's mayor from 1981 to 1983. He also was chairman of the Clover school board and was an organizer of the town's rescue squad and youth sports.

A native of York County, Mr. Parrish was a son of the late Dennis B. Parrish and Jennie Hedgepath Parrish. He was the widower of Lois Brackett Parrish.

He was a member of the Clover Presbyterian Church and was a Sunday school teacher in churches and nursing homes for 65 years. He had a perfect attendance record at Sunday school for 41 years. He helped organize Little League and midget sports in the town of Clover. He was a retired textile executive from Ti-Caro in Gastonia, N.C., and was an avid golfer and fisherman.

Surviving are his son, Harry B. Parrish of Clover; three daughters, Shannon P. Amick and Becky P. Redmond, both of Clover, and Linda P. Spooner of Greenville; his brother, Paul Parrish of Damascus, Va.; his sister, Ruby Falls of Clover; eight grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at M.L. Ford Sons Funeral Home.

Dorothy Powtak

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dorothy Brackebusch Powtak, 75, of 2176 Ebinport Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Bratton Funeral Home in York.

Mrs. Powtak was a daughter of the late Rev. I.M. Brackebusch and Elsie Johnson. She was retired from the Department of Education food service department in Michigan. She was a veteran of the Canadian Armed Services. She was of the Lutheran faith.

Surviving are her husband, Walter Powtak; two sons, Richard Stanley Powtak of Lansing, Mich., and Jeffrey M. Powtak of York; her brother, David Brackebusch of California; her sister, Lois B. Smith of California; her stepmother, Ethel Brackebusch of California; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Dorothy B. Powtak Memorial Fund, c/o Stacy's Garden Center, 2009 Highway 321 North, York, SC 29745.

Bessie Reid

YORK - Mrs. Bessie Rawlinson Reid of 54 Pickney St. died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Lowry officiating. Burial will be at Galilee Baptist Church cemetery.

Surviving are her stepmother, Mattie M. Rawlinson of York; three sisters, Faye Rawlinson and Delinda B. Rawlinson, both of York, and Sheila Mitchell of Mount Holly, N.C.; two brothers, Tommy G. Rawlinson of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Robert Arthur McElwee of Baltimore; two stepdaughters, Alice R. Williams of York and Ardie Reid Stewart of Greensboro, N.C.; four stepbrothers, Thomas C. Reid of Greenville, James Wesley Reid of Minneapolis, Herbert A. Reid of Grover, N.C., and Jerry D. Reid of Greensboro; and her special friend, Billie Bankhead of the home.

The family will receive friends both at the home and at the home of Faye Rawlinson, 104 US 321 Bypass, York.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 6 tonight at Wright Funeral Home.

Bobby Bryant Sr.

CHESTER - Mr. Bobby Lee Bryant Sr., 67, of 1139 Stanback Road died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, with the Rev. Curtis Washington officiating and the Revs. W. E. Page, James Good and Moses Lightner assisting. The Rev. McKinley Woods will give the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Bryant was a son of the late Charlie Bryant and Susie Worthy Bryant. He was a member of the Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. He attended Chester County public schools. He was retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation with 38 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Mary A. Turner Bryant; two sons, Robert M. Bryant of the home and Levester Bryant of Chester; six daughters, Gloria Westley, Barbara J. Hardin, Mary A. Colvin, Laverne Hinton, Angela Evans and Susie B. Bryant, all of Chester; 24 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until noon Thursday at Kings Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

Robert Crump

FORT MILL - Mr. Robert E. Lee Crump, 84, of 1241 Camp Cox Circle died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Pineville City Cemetery in Pineville, N.C., with the Rev. Benny Green officiating.

A native of Pineville, Mr. Crump was a son of the late Fred Crump and Bertie Hargett Crump. A truck driver, he was retired after 26 years with Johnson Motor Line. He was a member of Indian Land Baptist Church. During World War II, he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Engineers, Heavy Equipment Division in the Philippines and in Japan. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 43 and a lifetime member of the VFW, Fort Mill Post No. 9138.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby Mae Reavis Crump of Lancaster; two daughters, Betty Jo Mays of Camden and Barbara L. Kropp of Atlanta; two brothers, Billy Ward Crump and Bryant Crump, both of Fort Mill; three sisters, Dot Keeffe, Sarah Fisher and Idell Chapplear, all of Fort Mill; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Indian Land Baptist Church, 7583 Charlotte Highway, Fort Mill, SC 29715 or to the charity of one's church.

Lucille Hammond

LANCASTER - Mrs. Lucille Broughton Hammond, 84, of 1328 Williams Estate Drive died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews, N.C.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Roach officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Kershaw County, Mrs. Hammond was a daughter of the late Leland Broughton and Elizabeth Horton Broughton. She retired from Springs Industries - Grace Bleachery and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was the widow of Samuel Hammond.

Surviving are her two sons, Bobby Hammond of Matthews and Gene Hammond of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; her daughter, Judith Hammond of the home; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Harley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster.

Memorial may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church, 1152 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Rocky Simmers

ROCK HILL - Mr. Rocky Vernon Simmers, 43, of 1490 Reservation Road died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints Catawba Ward with Bishop Pieter Reynders officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Simmers was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints Catawba Ward. He worked as a carpenter for the Catawba Indian Nation.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra L. Simmers; three daughters, Erica Nicole Simmers, Brittany Nashea Simmers and Leesa Louise Marie Simmers, all of the home; three brothers, Daniel Simmers, James Simmers and Garrett Simmers, all of Rock Hill; and three sisters, Beckee Garris of Lancaster, Pam Hawkins of Rock Hill and Midge Brown of North Wilksboro, N.C.

The family will be at the home of his children.

The family encourages registration as an organ donor in lieu of a memorial.

Jocelyn Eubanks

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Jocelyn M. "Jot" Eubanks, 83, of Charlotte died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Hunterwoods Nursing Home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at McEwen Charlotte Chapel on East Morehead Street, with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Lowrance officiating. Burial will be at Hopewell Presbyterian Church cemetery.

A native of Charlotte, Mrs. Eubanks was a daughter of the late Cyrus William Martin and Mildred Hall Martin. She was the widow of Edward M. Eubanks Sr. A homemaker, she was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church and Long Creek Eastern Star No. 151.

Surviving are two sons, Carson William Eubanks of Charlotte and Edward M. Eubanks Jr. of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four daughters, Shirley Brandt of Marshfield, Mass., Marian Carpenter of Charlotte, Brenda Williams of Rock Hill and Susan Alford of Huntersville, N.C.; her brother, Cyrus Martin Jr. of Arden, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at McEwen Funeral Service, 727 E. Morehead St., Charlotte.

Carolyn Gibson

LOCKHART - Mrs. Carolyn McMahan Gibson, 61, of 323 N. First St. died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Calvin Smith officiating. Burial will be at Lockhart Cemetery.

A native of Lockhart, Mrs. Gibson was a daughter of the late Arthur Clyde McMahan and Mary Ellen Wood McMahan. She was a member of the Lockhart Church of God.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Gibson; two sons, Kenneth Ray Gibson of Lockhart and Timothy Wayne Gibson of Smyrna; her daughter, Sandra Austin of Lockhart; six sisters, Mildred Hall, Harriett Melton and Lena Tanner, all of Chester, Shirley McMahan of Wyoming and Geraldine Shrader and Mary Lee Knox, both of Union; two brothers, Thomas McMahan and James McMahan, both of Chester; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Sammie Givens

CLOVER - Mr. Sammie Givens, 60, of 105 Hilltop Lane died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Wright Funeral Home in York, with the Rev. George Lowry officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Surviving are his son, David McCoy Givens of Charlotte; three brothers, Alexander Givens of York and J.W. Givens and Lewis Givens, both of Charlotte; two sisters, Elizabeth Culverson of Charlotte and Sarah Sadler of Gastonia, N.C.

The family will receive friends at home.

Donald Harrison

ROCK HILL - Mr. Donald Edward Harrison, 82, of 207 N. Jones Ave. died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Evangel Temple Assembly of God in Great Falls, with the Revs. Mike Sollars and Walker Clark officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls.

A native of Manchester, Ga., Mr. Harrison was a son of the late Clarence Harrison and Dovie Moore Harrison. He was a retired supervisor from J.P. Stevens Co. He was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God and attended school in Fulton County, Ga.

Surviving are his wife, Edna N. Harrison; two sons, Jerry Harrison of Rock Hill and Donnie Hugh Harrison of Columbia; his daughter, Elaine Best of Greenville; two sisters, Mary Bailey of Lancaster and Lillian Christopher of Midland, Texas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home in Great Falls.
