Forrest Hasty

LANCASTER - Mr. Forrest Carnell "Butch" Hasty, 66, of 1715 Frieden St., West Columbia, formerly of Lancaster, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Hopper officiating.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Hasty was a son of the late William Andrew Hasty and Bessie Inez Threatt Hasty. Mr. Hasty was retired from Springs Forest Foundry and Machine Shop, was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Surviving are two daughters, Sheila Starnes and Patricia Walker, both of Lancaster; his brother, Charles W. Hasty of Lancaster; his sister, Lynda Brasington of Lancaster; three grandchildren; and his companion, Wilma Smith.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the service.

Hartley Funeral Home is in charge.

Lillian Kearns

LAKE WYLIE - Mrs. Lillian Grace Bergvist Kearns, 92, of 4877 Charlotte Highway died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at home.

A committal service will be held at a later date in New Jersey.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Kearns was a daughter of the late Charles Bergvist and Ada Norman Bergvist. She was the widow of William Kearns.

Mrs. Kearns lived in Germantown, Tenn., where she was a member of German Town Presbyterian Church, before moving to Lake Wylie where she was a resident of Atria Retirement and Assisted Living.

Surviving are two nephews, Robert Bergvist of Tega Cay and Kenneth Ensslin of Germantown; and her niece, Joyce Lynn of Alexandria, Va.

Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

James Langford Sr.

SALUDA - Mr. James Fred Langford Sr., 90, of Route 3 Blue Bird Road died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at Wesley Commons Nursing Facility in Greenwood.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Denise Childers and Nelson Ledwell officiating. Burial will be at Travis Park Cemetery.

A native of Saluda County, Mr. Langford was a son of the late Fred Pickens Langford and Kate Belle Harmon Langford. He was a widower of Viola M. Langford.

A member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and Travis Masonic Lodge 241 AFM, Mr. Langford was retired from DuPont in Barnwell County.

Surviving are two sons, J. Fred Langford Jr. of Rock Hill and Ben M. Langford of Lexington, N.C.; two daughters, Katilene L. Holmes of Cary, N.C., and Shirley L. Logan of Greenwood; his sister, Carrie L. Addy of Saluda; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. today at Ramey Funeral Home.

Minnie Smith

YORK - Mrs. Minnie Victoria Smith of 2473 S. Jim McCarter Road died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Verson Hodges officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Gaston was a daughter of the late Pink Moses and Mary Jane Terry Moses.

Surviving are her husband, D.N. "Red" Smith; two daughters, Peggy Smith of York and Debbie Flemming of Dublin, Ga.; and her grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M. L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Clover.

Fay Welmaker

ANDERSON - Mrs. Fay Martin Welmaker, 78, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at NHC Healthcare of Anderson.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at McDougald Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Marsh Fant officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A native of Anderson County, Mrs. Welmaker was a daughter of the late Clayton Martin and Lillie Perry Martin.

She was a homemaker and was the widow of Ellis L. Welmaker.

Surviving are three daughters, Delores Every of Rock Hill, Audrey Saraske of West Columbia and Agnes Thompson of Smyrna, Ga.; her sister, Clara Simpson of Seneca; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at McDougald Funeral Home.

William Woods

COLUMBIA - Mr. William Richard Woods, 65, of 205 Ballemia Road died Saturday, February 12, 2000, at Dorn VA Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Barron Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Wylie Cooper officiating. Burial will be at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mr. Woods was a son of the late James Perry Woods and Virginia Porter Woods.

He was a commercial construction worker and was a member of College Place United Methodist Church. He attended schools in Chester County and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are his daughter, Elizabeth Anne Sherer of Columbia; three sisters, Margaret Privette of Columbia, Lucy Weir of Chester and Martha McWaters of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jason Thomas, 2085 Hardin Strait Road, Chester.

T.C. Burris

FLORENCE, Ala.- Mr. T.C. Burris died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in Savannah, Tenn.

The funeral was Friday at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Coleman officiating. Burial was at the Springhill Cemetery.

A native of McConnellsville, Mr. Burris was a son of the late Rev. Spencer Mitchell and Rachel Burris Mitchell. He traveled the world and worked with Custom Chemical Company in Paterson, N.J. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Rosie Burris; his son, Robert Lindsey of Philadelphia; his daughter, Mildred Gordon of York; two stepdaughters, Mary Pearl Suggs of Henderson, N.C., and Eleanor Stewart of Florence; his five sisters, Maggie Delworth and Sally Brown, both of Greensboro, N.C., Alberta Lockherd of Kannapolis, N.C., and Annie Belle Bankhead and Francis Bauberf, both of York; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his great-grandchild; and several stepgrandchildren.

Shelton's Funeral Service in Florence was in charge.

Chris Efird

MONROE, N.C. - Mr. Chris Efird, 38, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Union Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Cain officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Union County, N.C., Mr. Efird was a son of Brenda Efird of Wingate, N.C., and John Efird of Monroe. He was a truck driver with Edwards Wood Products in Marshville, N.C.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Jill Efird; his son, Shane Efird of the home; his daughter, Bethany Efird of the home; two brothers, Mark Efird of Matthews, N.C., and Michael Efird of Monroe; and his sister, Katherine Spoon of Fort Mill.

The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at McKewn Funeral Home in Monroe.

Robert Graham

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Robert "Shorty" Graham Sr., 51, formerly of Chester, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kings Funeral Home,135 Cemetery St., Chester, with the Rev. C.J. Stringfellow officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Prospect Baptist Church in Chester.

A native of Chester, Mr. Graham was a son of Eli Hardin Sr. and the late Janie Elizabeth Graham Hardin. He attended Chester County public schools.

He was a former chef cook and was a member of Mount Prospect Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his father are four sons, Steven Gomez, Holly Graham, Robert Graham Jr. and Stephen Williams, all of Charlotte; his daughter, Shanika Graham of Charlotte; his stepmother, Irene H. Hardin of Chester; six brothers, Eli Hardin Jr., John Henry Hardin, Greenberry Hardin and Floyd Hardin, all of Charlotte, Roosevelt Hardin of Myrtle Beach and Elsamson Hardin of Atlanta; his five sisters, Elnora Jordan, Hopie Hardin, Janie Mae Stewart, Judie Hardin and Pauline Mitchell, all of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Kings Funeral Home, 4000 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to the hour of service Tuesday at Kings Funeral Home, Chester.

Helen Jenkins

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Helen Watkins Jenkins, 78, of 1107 Ebinport Road died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hopewell Presbyterian PCA, with the Rev. Tom Rogers officiating and the Rev. Mike Black assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lesslie, Mrs. Jenkins was a daughter of the late Benjamin Cleveland Watkins and Inez Garris Watkins. She was the widow of Clifford Earl Jenkins. She was a homemaker and a member of Hopewell Presbyterian PCA, where she was a former member of the choir, the women's morning circle and senior citizen's group. She was a member of the Frank Roach American Legion Post No. 34 women's auxiliary and the Salvation Army women's auxiliary.

Surviving are her son, Kenneth Dale Jenkins of Fort Mill; her brother, Calvin Watkins; her two sisters, Jessie W. Rogers of Rock Hill and Mildred W. Williams of Spartanburg; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Cassandra Russell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Cassandra "Cass" Jean Leep Russell, 46, of 1415 Colony Drive died Saturday Feb. 12, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Shelton P. Sanford III officiating.

A native of Clarksburg, W.Va., Mrs. Russell was a daughter of Francis M. Leep of Oviedo, Fla., and the late Mona Lee Skinner Leep. She worked for Oliver Eye Associates. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and played softball for the women's church team.

She was a member of Phi Beta Lamda sorority at York Technical College, where she was a Presidential Scholar and was a member of the Student Government Association. She was a former vice president of the Newcomers Club of Rock Hill, a former cub scout den leader and a Carolina Rapture Center volunteer.

Surviving in addition to her father are her husband, Ronald L. Russell; three sons, Matthew L. Russell, Chad T. Russell and Patrick W. Russell, all of Rock Hill; and her brother, James A. Leep of Wabash, Ind.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the home, 1415 Colony Drive, Rock Hill.

Ruby Zissett

GREENVILLE - Mrs. Ruby Blume Zissett, 74, of 1 Ashwood Ave., formerly of Rock Hill, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at The Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Revs. Talmadge I. Bass and Jamie Coley officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Aiken County, Mrs. Zissett was a daughter of the late Isadore Blume and Marie Prescott Blume. She was the widow of William H. Zissett. She was an employee of Shoney's Inc. in Rock Hill and was an associate member of The Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are her four sons, Bobby L. Zissett of Lake Worth, Fla., Leroy Carroll of Columbia, William R. Zissett of Elgin and Danny I. Zissett of York; five daughters, Diane M. Rhodes of Fort Mill, Janet Z. Wimberley of Caruthersville, Mo., Patsy Strickland of Greenville, and Kay R. Zissett and Wanda L. Zissett, both of Rock Hill; her brother, Carol Blume of Batesburg; 25 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and other times at the home of Kay Zissett, 1160 Barringer Road, Rock Hill.

James Bagwell

FORT MILL - Mr. James Leslie Bagwell, 67, of 404 Link St. died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. James W. Herron officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

Mr. Bagwell was the widower of Eva Freeman Bagwell. He was retired from Springs Industries. He was a former member of the Catawba C.B. Radio Club and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his son, Ronald Bagwell of Rock Hill; three daughters, Donna Broome of Fort Mill, Margo Walker of Rock Hill and Nancy Mace of Charlotte; four brothers, Clarence Bagwell of Elverta, Calif., Jack Bagwell of Rock Hill, Tommy Bagwell of Little Rock, Ark., and Paul Bagwell of Fort Mill; four sisters, Louise Adkins and Linda Gooler, both of Rock Hill, and Doris Moss and Pauline Hicks, both of Lancaster; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Fort Mill Funeral Home.
