WALTERBORO - Mrs. Rebecca Mears Stephens of Walterboro died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Mungo Funeral Home. Burial will be at Live Oak Cemetery.

A native of Colleton County, Mrs. Stephens was a daughter of the late Richard B. Mears and Hattie Taylor Mears. She was the widow of Peter Stephens. Mrs. Stephens attended the public schools of Colleton County.

Surviving are three sons, Peter K. Stephens of Rock Hill, Sylvester Stephens of Walterboro and Richard Koger of Grand Rapids, Mich.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Margie Roof

LANCASTER - Mrs. Margie C. Roof, 59, of 1628 Hillcrest Ave. died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Ladd officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of York County, Mrs. Roof was a daughter of Eva Mae Broome Adams of York and the late Arthur Adams. A homemaker, she was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to her mother, are her husband, Donnie Roof; four sons, M. Kim Roof, Richard M. Carpenter, James L. Roof and T. Craig Roof, all of Lancaster; her daughter, Deborah R. Mills of Lancaster; two brothers, Leroy Adams of Beulah, Ind., and Edward Adams of Fort Mill; her sister, Barbara Adams of York; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her son, Richard Carpenter, 2643 Lyndell Way, Lancaster.

Otha Robinson

LANCASTER - Mr. Otha Ben Robinson, 88, of 2075 Zion Road died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with the Revs. Wayne Dickson and Dr. Guy Smith officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Mr. Robinson was a son of the late Charles Augustus Robinson and Jennie Martha McAteer Robinson. He was the widower of Evelyn R. Robinson. He was a retired employee of Celanese, a 57-year member of the Sprinklers Fitters Union Local 669, Landover, Md., and a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his brother, Coy "Robbie" Robinson of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Sam Beckham

ROCK HILL -"Mr. Sam Clifford Beckham, 85, of 739 E. Main St. died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Georgetown County, Mr. Beckham was a son of the late Jeptha Beckham and Lou Ella B. Beckham. He was retired from the city of Rock Hill. He was a member of Park Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, a former superintendent of the Sunday school class and a former Sunday school teacher.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Goode Beckham, his son, M.C. "Mickey" Beckham of Rock Hill; two brothers, Howard Beckham of Kershaw and Claude Beckham of Greenwood; his sister, Plassie Truesdale of Lancaster; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his caregiver, Johnny McKinney.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the Park Baptist Church educational hall and at other times at the home, 739 E. Main St.

Memorials may be made to the Park Baptist Church Youth Fund, 717 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Eva Brown

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Mrs. Eva Sims Brown, 82, formerly of 5100 Wadena Court, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at The Evergreens.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. today at Forbis and Dick North Elm Chapel. Burial will be at Guilford Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late Grover Sims and Nannie Shehane Sims. She was the widow of Claude McDonald Brown. Mrs. Brown was retired from John H. Harland Co. and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in High Point, N.C.

Surviving are her son, Michael C. Brown of Greensboro; her sister, Shirley Faulkenberry of Lancaster; two brothers, Church Sims and Elliott Sims, both of Heath Springs; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.

Steve Cockram

ROCK HILL - Mr. Cleatus Robertson "Steve" Cockram, 70, of 9378 Woodstock Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 7 p.m. tonight at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roger Brown officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Meadows of Dan, Va., Mr. Cockram was a son of the late Dean Potter and Vergie Robertson Cockram. He was an employee of Westinghouse Power Division Services for 24 years. He served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954.

Surviving are his son, Michael Dean Cockram of Rock Hill; his brother, Glynn F. Cockram of Eden, N.C.; two sisters, Betty Cockram White of Eden and Patty Dean Grogan of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Walter Ellis

ROCK HILL - Mr. Walter Boone Ellis, 64, of 169 Westerwood Drive died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. William P. Shytle and Bob Porterfield officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A native of Cleveland County, N.C., Mr. Ellis was a son of the late G.W. "Jack" Ellis Sr. and Kate Mintz Ellis. He was the retired owner of Ellis Carpet Cleaning and was previously a heavy equipment operator for Duke Power and Daniel Construction. He served in the Army and was a former member of Masonic Lodge No. 385, Crescent Shrine Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2889 and American Legion Post 34. He was a member of Park Ridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Glenda Reel Ellis; two sons, Billy "Skeeter" Ellis and Gregory Scott Ellis, both of Rock Hill; his daughter, Aleta Wightman of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Park Ridge Baptist Church building fund.

Della Moose

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Della "Rainey" Simons Moose, 84, of Charlotte died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Charlotte Health Care.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Steven Pipho officiating. Burial will be at Sharon Memorial Park.

A native of Munson, Fla., Mrs. Moose was the daughter of the late George Horace and Mary Eleanor Jordan Simons. She was the widow of Ralph L. Moose. She was a homemaker and a foster parent, having cared for more than 80 foster children. Mrs. Moose also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Surviving are three children, Rainey M. Helms and Patricia Hoffman, both of Charlotte, and Frank Moose of Fort Lawn; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel.

Inez Wade

CHESTER - Mrs. Inez McGee Wade, 89, of 1041 Pineridge Road died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Donald Scoggins officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Covington, Ga., Mrs. Wade was a daughter of the late George Washington McGee and Julia Elizabeth Gober McGee. She was the widow of Henry Thomas "Buck" Wade. She was retired from Springs Industries and attended school in Newton County, Ga. She was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Sara W. Moore of Charlotte; and 19 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

James Blackmon

LANCASTER - Mr. James R. "Butch" Blackmon, 60, of 2781 Pineview Drive died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Rev. Carlos Gardner officiating.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Blackmon was a son of James E. Blackmon of Lancaster and the late Virgie Marie Barnes Blackmon. He was a retired sales representative for Porter Belk Lumber Co. He was a member St. Luke United Methodist and served in the Army.

Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Martha Hunter Blackmon; and his son, Erik S. Blackmon of Irmo.

Dorothy Boatwright

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dorothy "Peepsie" Boatwright, 78, of 2474 Catawba Church Road died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Patty Griffith Fallaw and John E. Jenkins officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Fort Mill, Mrs. Boatwright was a daughter of the late Simmon Ferrell and Dovie Harris Ferrell. She was retired from Rock Hill School District 3. A member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, she was former secretary of her Sunday school class.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Boatwright; her son, Terry W. Moon of Rock Hill; her brother, Paul Ferrell of Greenville; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Terry Moon, 203 Briarwood Drive, Rock Hill.

Lawrence Burris III

SHARON - Mr. Lawrence "Sonny" Burris III, 42, of 4075 Hord Road died Monday, February 14, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Chapel AME Zion Church in Sharon, with the Rev. Dennis McCleave officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Burris was a member of Wilson Chapel AME Zion Church and was a member of the South Carolina Conference Usher's Association, the Interdenominational Usher's Association, an assistant Sunday school teacher, trustee board and the AP&B Society. He also was a member of the Class of '77 committee.

Mr. Burris worked employed as a stocker at Wal-Mart and previously worked for the York school district.

Surviving are his parents, Lawrence Burris Jr. and Daisy McKnight Burris of the home; six brothers, James Eugene Burris of Clover, Deret Lee Burris, Marshall D. Burris and Robert L. Burris, all of the home, Ishmeal P. Burris of Rock Hill and Dwayne L. Burris of York; three sisters, Mary Douglas of York, Linda R. Burris and Leslie D. Burris, both of the home.

The family will receive friends form 6 to 7 tonight at Wright Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Agnes Campbell

YORK - Mrs. Agnes Mauney Stiles Campbell of 29 Cannon Court died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Smith officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.

A native of York, Mrs. Campbell was a daughter of the late George Lee Mauney and Carrie Louise Hull. She was the widow of George D. Stiles Jr. and Chester E. Campbell. She was a member of First Christian Church in Rock Hill.

Surviving are four sons, Jimmy F. Stiles and Joe E. Campbell, both of Clover, Kim G. Stiles of Gastonia, N.C., and Danny Bolin of Chester; two daughters, Cynthia Renea Stiles Woollums of Dallas, N.C., and Crystal Dail Campbell Neal of York; five sisters, Mary E. Mauney Brooks of Cherryville, N.C., Veneeda L. Mauney Kepley of Belmont, N.C., Donna M. Mauney Ervin of Rock Hill, Eloise Mauney Faris of Clover, and Teresa Y. Mauney Collins of Lincolnton, N.C.; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.
