Jerry Meredith Sr.

CLOVER - Mr. Jerry Wayne Meredith Sr., 32, of 1500 Edge Park Road died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Carmel Freewill Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. John Cody officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.

A native of Gastonia, N.C., Mr. Meredith was a son of Isacc Jerry Meredith and Judy Justice Meredith, both of Clover. He was a truck driver for Patterson Logging Co.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Christy P. Meredith of Clover; two sons, Christopher Meredith and Jerry Wayne Meredith Jr., both of Clover; his daughter, Heather Meredith of Clover; and two brothers, Billy Meredith and James Meredith, both of Clover.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home in York.

Memorials may be made to the Jerry Wayne Meredith Memorial Fund, 1500 Edge Park Road, Clover, SC 29710.

Kathleen Metzs

LANCASTER - Mrs. Kathleen Elizabeth Kelly Metzs, 78, formerly of 1613 Kim St., died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Revs. Huey Mills and Marvin Tennant officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lee County, Mrs. Metzs was a daughter of the late Dewey William Kelly and Ida Ruth Brown Kelly. She was a homemaker and was a member of Fellowship Bible Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Vivian Hinson of Heath Springs and Mildred Peagler of Fort Lawn; three brothers, Floyd W. Kelly of Lancaster, Archie Kelly of Tradesville and Charles Kelly of Pageland; four sisters, Mae Cauthen, Sybil Sellers and Shirley Cooper, all of Lancaster, and Inez Starnes of Pageland; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Carolina Christian Academy, 1850 Kershaw Camden Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Martha Neely

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Martha N. Neely, 77, of 2095 Neely Store Road died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. today at Friendship United Methodist Church, with the Revs. David Taylor and Paul Hutchison officiating.

Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of York County, Mrs. Neely was a daughter of the late Thomas Crawford Neely and Grace Hughes Neely.

She was the widow of Harry Eugene Neely.

Retired from the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co., she was co-owner of Neely's Country Corner Store.

She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Neely was a resident of Eden Gardens for the past two years.

Surviving are her son, Gene Neely of Rock Hill; two daughters, Christie N. Caveny of Rock Hill and Judy N. Zeldin of Arcadia, Calif.; two sisters, Frances Kirkpatrick of Columbia and Peggy White of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Gene and Betty Neely, 2131 Neely Store Road.

David Pettus Jr.

YORK - Mr. David Pettus Jr. of 248 Old Leon Adams Road died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at New Home AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Mary E. Adams officiating.

Burial will be at Emmanuel AME Zion Church cemetery.

Mr. Pettus was a son of the late David Pettus and Laura Patton Pettus.

He was a member of Emmanuel AME Zion Church, where he served as a preacher's steward, a superintendent of the trustee board and choir leader of the junior and senior choirs.

He was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School and Clinton Junior College.

He served in the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his wife, Annie Lee Pettus; three daughters, Ida Anderson and Vivian Hart, both of Rock Hill, and Kathny Moore of Gastonia, N.C.; his sister, Hattie Lee Pettus of Rock Hill; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his great-great-grandchild.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Destiny White

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Miss Destiny White, 3-year-old daughter of Ian White and Theresa Holbert of Riverside, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000.

The funeral will be Thursday in Riverside.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her brother, James Holbert of Riverside; her sister, Ianna Glover of Rock Hill; her grandparents, Phyllis Power of Riverside, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald White of Rock Hill; her great-grandmother, Elizabeth White of Rock Hill.

Tillman Funeral Home is in charge.

Betty Broome

LANDO - Mrs. Betty Thomas Ramsey Broome, 66, of 3838 School House Road died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lando Cemetery, with the Rev. Lafon Hardy officiating.

A native of Lando, Mrs. Broome was a daughter of the late Charles M. Thomas and Emma Kee Thomas.

She retired from Manetta Mills after 45 years and was of the Church of God faith. She was the widow of Latham Ramsey.

Surviving are her husband, Ross Lee Broome Jr.; four sons, Kenneth Lee "Tom" Ramsey of the home, Michael Thomas of Rock Hill, William "Bubba" Latham of Richburg and Anthony Todd Broome of Lando; her daughter, Renee R. Faulkenberry of Rock Hill; four brothers, Buddy Thomas of Wilmington, N.C., Charles W. Thomas of Lando, and James Thomas and Donnie Thomas, both of Chester; two sisters, Helen Berg of Rock Hill and Shirley Dawkins of Richburg; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Evelyn Dreher

CHESTER - Mrs. Evelyn Simpson Dreher, 88, formerly of 111 W. Lacy St., died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Chester County Hospital.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. John Williams officiating.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Dreher was a daughter of the late Cauthen Connie Simpson and Anna Lou Simpson.

She was the widow of John James Dreher.

Mrs. Dreher was a retired licensed practical nurse at Chester County Hospital, was a graduate of Chester High School and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her son, John Dreher Jr. of Chester; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

John Logue

EDGEFIELD - Mr. John Wallace Logue, 78, of 12 Harling Road died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, in Edgefield.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Hatfield officiating.

Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Edgefield County, Mr. Logue was in the U.S. Marines and was a veteran of World War II.

A retired construction superintendent and farmer, he was a former constable, a magistrate for Edgefield County and was a business agent for Carpenter's Union in Aiken.

He was a member of Concordia Lodge No. 50, a Master Mason at Grove Lodge No. 52, and Carpenter's Local Union No. 283 and was a member of the Edgefield Chamber of Commerce.

He was a member of Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, church treasurer, a Sunday school teacher, building and grounds committee and in the brotherhood.

Surviving are his son, Kenneth Logue of Idaho Falls, Idaho; three daughters, Sharon Whittle of Edgefield, DeLores Weaver of Montreal and Carolyn Logue of Rock Hill; his brother, Bill Logue of Edgefield; his sister, Lena Holcombe of Edgefield; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church.

William Orr Jr.

CHESTER - Mr. William Franklin Orr Jr., 83, of 1214 Oak Hill Road died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chester Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. John Hanna officiating and the Rev. Mickey Barnes assisting.

Born in Great Falls, Mr. Orr was a son of the late William Franklin Orr Sr. and Daisy Price Orr.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was a retired laboratory technician, having been employed in the steel industry.

Surviving are his wife, Mattie Binns Orr; his daughter, Linda Clarkson of Rock Hill; his sister, Kathryn O. Fleming of Chester; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wright's Home for Funerals.

Henri Pelletier

ROCK HILL - Mr. Henri Ernest Pelletier, 80, of 1499 The Crossing Drive died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, with Father William Pentis officiating.

Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

Born in East Millinocket, Maine, Mr. Pelletier was a son of the late Thomas Pelletier and Anna Therieau Pelletier.

He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, where he sang in the choir.

A past president of the Rotary Club, he was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Marines 1st Division in the Pacific.

Mr. Pelletier retired from Bowater of Rock Hill and Weyerhaeuser Paper Corp. in Columbus, Miss.

He was the widower of Maxine Franklin Pelletier.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Lee Kezziah Pelletier; two sons, Renaud Pelletier of Kalama, Wash., and Dana Pelletier of Greenville; three daughters, Annette Maria Pelletier of Lima, Peru, Regina Pelletier of Philadelphia, Penn., and Celeste Leonardo of Clearwater, Fla.; his stepdaughter, Suzanne Owen of Rock Hill; four brothers, Tommy Pelletier of East Millinocket, Carroll Pelletier of Las Vegas, David Pelletier of Maine and Arthur Pelletier of Rochester, N.Y.; four sisters, Marilyn Willey and Joann King, both of East Millinocket, Beverly Cooper of Rowley, Mass., and Jeanette Daniels of Norfolk, Va.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A vigil service will be at 6:30 tonight at Bass Funeral Home with visitation following.

Ada Stanback

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Ada Leathers Stanback, formerly of of 2300 Haskell Ave., died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Boulevard Temple Retirement Community in Detroit.

The funeral will be Wednesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Robert E. Christian officiating and the Revs. Elva Davis and Robbie McKesson assisting.

Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Born in Chester, Mrs. Stanback was a daughter of the late Clarence E. Leathers Sr. and Mary Ella Westco Leathers.

A Brainard Institute graduate, she earned her bachelor's degree in science from North Carolina State College (N.C. Central University) in Durham, N.C.

She worked in Richland County School District 1, where she taught at Booker T. Washington High School and C.A. Johnson High School.

She was a member of Jones Memorial AME Zion Church, where she was a member of the Missionary Society.

She was a charter member of Gamma Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, a member of Ess Tees Bridge Club and the Columbia chapter of The Links Inc.

She was the widow of I.P. Stanback.

Surviving is her sister, Wilhelmina L. Babcock of Detroit.

The body may be viewed from 3 to 9 tonight at Gore's Funeral Home in Chester.
