Myrtle Ringer Felker, 94, of 2201 Harper St., Newberry, widow of Roland H. Felker, died Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at the White Oak Manor.
Mrs. Felker was born on Jan 9, 1909 in Pomaria, a daughter of the late Walter E. and Rosa Allen Ringer. She was a retired employee of The Fashion. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and the George B. Cromer Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Felker is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Barbara F. and Charlie Comingore of Newberry; a grandson Bobby Louis Pitts of Eau Claire WI; five great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Walter C. Pitts.
Funeral services for Myrtle Ringer Felker will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer by the Rev. Steven Counts. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer Building Fund, PO Box 382, Newberry SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Alfred Ringer, Billy Ringer, Charles Hatch, Bill Riley, Gene Williamson, and Gary Felker.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the George B. Cromer Sunday School Class and the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer Fifty Plus.

Berniece "Boo" Ludwick Gregory
January 6, 2004

Berniece “Boo” Ludwick Gregory, 79, of 1401 Jefferson St., Newberry, widow of Curtis R. Gregory, died Tuesday, January 06, 2004 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Gregory was born on May 30, 1924 in Cherryville, NC, a daughter of the late James E. and Mabel Waters Ludwick. She was a former employee of Gilder and Weeks Drug Store and she was a member of the Newberry A.R. Presbyterian Church..
Mrs. Gregory is survived by two daughters, Vickie Gregory Carter of Chester and Donna Gregory Quinn of Newberry; a sister, Marcie Crooks of Norfolk, VA; a brother, Louis L. Ludwick of Summerville; four grandchildren, Rev. Kevin Carter of Greenwood, Neal Carter of Rock Hill, and Alexandra Lopez and Desiree Lopez both of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico; and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, James. H. “Jimmy” Gregory and a brother, James E. Ludwick
Funeral services for Berniece “Boo” Ludwick Gregory will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Newberry A.R. Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Doug White. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:000 P.M. Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home and the family will be at her residence 1401 Jefferson St..
Memorials may be made to the Newberry A.R. Presbyterian Church, 1701 Main St., Newberry SC 29108

Cleve B. Moore
January 3, 2005

Cleve B. Moore, 40, of 58 Skating Rink Road, Newberry, died Saturday, January 3, 2004 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Moore was born on March 25, 1963 in Prosperity, a son of Shirley Hatcher Moore and the late Olin D. “Redd” Moore, Sr. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mr. Moore is survived by his mother of Newberry; two sisters, Diane M. Livingston of Prosperity and Debra Moore of Newberry; two brothers, Danny Moore and Joe B. Moore both of Newberry; and two nephews, who were raised in the home with him, Daniel and Joseph Moore both of Newberry.
Funeral services for Cleve B. Moore will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home and the family will be at the home of Shirley H. Moore, 58 Skating Rink Road, Newberry.

Fay J. Brandt
January 2, 2004

Fay J. Brandt, 86 died Friday, January 2, 2004 at the Lowman Home in White Rock.
Mrs. Brandt was born on November 7, 1917 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, a daughter of the late Gilbert and Ethel Hanner Helm. She was an adventurous woman who grew up in Iowa, moved to California in her 20’s and lived most of her life in San Clemente, California. She was a charter member of Our Saviour’ s Lutheran Church in San Clemente, singing in the choir for many years. She was very independent, living in her home until a few weeks before her death.
Mrs. Brandt is survived by a daughter, Collette B. LaClair of Escondido, CA; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Millie Brandt of Columbia; three grandchildren, Stewart Brandt and Anita Brandt both of Columbia, and Lorne Brandt of Rock Hill.
Memorial services for Fay Brandt will be conduct at 4:00 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of the Daily Family Center at the Lowman Home by Chaplain Gary Lyerly.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the at the Daily Life Center

Gladys Shealy Wise
February 23, 2004

Gladys Shealy Wise, 96, of 25679 US Highway 76, Newberry, widow of Henry Walter Wise, died Monday, February 23, 2004 at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Wise was born on March 21, 1907 in Saluda County, a daughter of the late Hillary S. and Nancy Bedenbaugh Shealy. She attended Summerland College and was the oldest member of St. James Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Wise, the last surviving member of her immediate family, is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Narvice and Robert Harmon,of Newberry, Mary Ellen and Harold Prater of West Columbia, and Nancy and Rick Richardson of Prosperity; two sons and daughters-in-law, John W. and Linda Wise and James E. and Ellie Jane Wise, all of Newberry; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Clay S. Wise; four sisters, Pansy Shealy, Ottie Moore, Nettie Rikard and Era Harmon Corley.
Funeral services for Gladys Shealy Wise will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at St. James Lutheran Church by Rev. Rodney Gunter and the Rev. Randy Derrick. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Whitaker Funeral Home and the family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Wise, 25557 US Highway 76, Newberry SC.
Memorials may be to St. James Lutheran Church Building Fund, 228 Jalapa Road, Newberry, SC 29108 or Salvation Army, 205 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Grandchildren, Cleo Wise, and the members of the Adult Sunday School Class.

Marise Bedenbaugh DeVore
February 19, 2004

Marise Bedenbaugh DeVore, of 3538 Hwy 560, Kinards, wife of E. Carroll DeVore, died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at the Laurens County Hospital. Carroll and Marise celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on December 20, 2003.
Mrs. DeVore was born on November 17, 1920 in Newberry County, a daughter of the late Lorenzo Dow and Ruby Harmon Bedenbaugh. She was retired from the US Postal Service, having served as Postmaster in Kinards for 28 years. She a lifelong member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and was a member of the League of Postmasters and the National Association of Federal Employees. .
Mrs. DeVore is survived by her husband of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Dr. Clovis Pierce of Kinards; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Martha DeVore of Kinards; three grandchildren, Dena Parducci Iusti, Michael DeVore Parducci and Leigh DeVore Smith, three great-grandchildren, Hannah Iusti, Braden Iusti, and Mary Beth Iusti. She was predeceased by a daughter, Dana DeVore and three brothers, Lorenzo Dow Bedenbaugh, Jr., Joseph Falls Bedenbaugh, and Harmon M. Bedenbaugh.
Funeral services for Marise Bedenbaugh DeVore will be conducted at 3:00 P. M. Sunday, February 22, 2004 at Hopewell United Methodist Church by the Rev. William Hightower. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Newberry.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 P. M. Saturday, February 21, 2004 at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry. The family will be at the residence of Dr. and Mrs. Clovis Pierce, 3516 Hwy 560, Kinards.
Memorials may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church, % Chryl Ettinger, 3028 Hopewell Church Road, Kinards, SC 29355.

Gregg E. Nichols, 33, of 5091 Clara Brown Road, Newberry, died Thursday, February 12, 2004 at the Providence Hospital in Columbia.
Mr. Nichols was born on February 27, 1970 in Newberry, a son of Allen E. and Carolyn Richardson Nichols. He was a graduate of Newberry College, class of 1993 and he received his master degree from Webster University in Greenville.He was a member of Colony Lutheran Church and was an employee of Columbia Mental Health.
Mr. Nichols is survived his parents of Newberry; a brother, Jason Nichols of Newberry; a maternal grandmother, Myrtis R. Richardson of Prosperity; and a nephew, Brandon Nichols of Newberry.
Funeral services for Gregg E. Nichols will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Saturday at Colony Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jerry Trantham. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 P. M. Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home. The family will be at the residence, 5091 Clara Brown Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
