Harry Wilson

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - Mr. Harry Ellis Wilson, 96, of Morristown, N.J., formerly of Great Falls, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, in New Jersey.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Great Falls, with the Rev. Larry Roberts officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls.

A native of Fairfield County, Mr. Wilson was a son of the late James R. Wilson and Minnie Cunningham Wilson. Mr. Wilson was the widower of Julia Coggins Wilson. He was formerly employed with the S.C. Department of Corrections. He attended Fairfield County schools.

Surviving are his son, Everett Wilson of Earlysville, Va.; three daughters, Doris Fenn and Catherine Stainglass, both of Morristown, and Bobby Jean Cannon of Vacaville, Calif.; his sister, Essie Rosener of Fair Lawn, N.J.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home in Great Falls.

Randy Horne

LANCASTER - Randy Brian Horne, 16 months old, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at West Side Cemetery, with the Rev. Jeff Williams officiating.

Surviving are his mother, Priscilla Ann Horne of Lancaster; grandparents Randy and Jackie Purvis of Lancaster; great-grandparents J.D. and Martha Williams of Great Falls, and Sylvia Faile, Jack Horne and Phyllis Whitaker, all of Lancaster; and great-great-grandmother, Ruth Jenkins of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel and other times at the home, 4372 Honeywood Ave., Lancaster.

John Ruiz

NORFOLK, VA. - Mr. John Gonzalez Ruiz, 85, of 1200 Templar Blvd., Norfolk, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Sentera Leigh Hospital in Norfolk.

A graveside service with military honors will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill.

A native of San Francisco, Mr. Ruiz was a son of the late Joe Aquera Ruiz and Maria Godey Gonzalez Ruiz.

He retired as a ship fitter from the U.S. Navy in 1974. He served during World War II and the Korean War, earning a Bronze Star, National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Victory Medal. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post No. 360 and the Fleet Reserves No. 60, both in Norfolk.

Mr. Ruiz was a widower of the late Pearlie Naomi Ruiz.

Surviving are three sons, Roy Ruiz of Banning, Calif., Raymond Ruiz of Keams Canyon, Calif., and Donald Ruiz of Catheral, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Barbara Scott Perez of Norfolk; and several grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Wolfe Funeral Home, 314 Spratt St., Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Mary Troute

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary Frances Butler Troute died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.

A native of Forest City, N.C., Mrs. Troute worked for Springs Industries in Fort Mill.

Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Norris K. Troute of Rock Hill; two sisters, Mrs. A.R. Bridges and Mrs. Jennie Wright, both of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Dick Shillinglaw

YORK - Mr. D.H. "Dick" Shillinglaw, 74, of 726 Kelly Road died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, Sharon, with the Rev. James Gable officiating and the Rev. Clyde Mitchum assisting. Burial will be at Woodlawn Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Sharon.

Born in Sharon, Mr. Shillinglaw was a son of the late John Shillinglaw and Annie Hood Shillinglaw. Mr. Shillinglaw was a former York city police officer and a fireman for the city of York. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired as a security guard for General Tire, Charlotte. An elder of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt.

Survivors are his wife, Mattie Ruth W. Shillinglaw; two sons, J. Dean Shillinglaw and Jimmy Shillinglaw, both of York; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bratton Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, 3852 Woodlawn St., Sharon, SC 29742.

Nicholas Smith

COLUMBIA - Mr. Nicholas Preston Smith, 73, of Columbia died Sunday, March 19, 2000.

The funeral will be at noon Tuesday in Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Larry Zaky presiding. Burial with Masonic Rites will be at Crescent Hill Memorial Garden.

Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Nicholas Preston Smith and Sally Spigner Smith. Mr. Smith was a retired unit chief for the Veterans Administration, was a member of Eau Claire Baptist Church, was former master of Shandon Masonic Lodge No. 370, 32nd degree Scottish Rite and was former postmaster of American Legion Post No. 55. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel Carter Smith; two daughters, Nickie Riley of Lexington and Teresa McKenzie of Chester; his brother, Richard M. Smith of Lexington County; his sister, Jean Davis of Columbia; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Shives Funeral Home.

Roosevelt Howze

ROCK HILL - Mr. Roosevelt Howze, 68, of 1971 Mount Holly Road died Friday, March 17, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion AME Zion Church No. 1, Landsford, with the Rev. Alan L. Stewart presiding and the Rev. James A. Hayes assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Chester County, he was a son of the late Lee Howze and Jessie Shirley Howze. He was a member of the Mount Zion AME Zion Church. He attended public school in Chester County and was a retired textile worker.

Surviving are two sons, Kelvin Brown of Lancaster and Roosevelt Culp Jr. of Edgemoor; seven daughters, Juanita Brown and Darlene Brown, both of Lancaster, Dorothy A. Brown of Pennsylvania, Geraldine Heath of Rock Hill, Delores Culp and Dorothy Culp, both of New York, and Louise Culp of Charlotte; two brothers, Floyd Howze of Edgemoor and Johnny B. Howze of Rock Hill; five sisters, Ora Lee Blake and Francina Howze, both of New York, Veola Howze of the home and Lena Robinson and Thelma H. Edwards, both of Edgemoor; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Veola Howze, 4719 Harmony Church Road, Edgemoor. They also will receive friends from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the service.

Ora Boheler

CLOVER - Mrs. Ora Lee Brakefield Boheler, 72, of Clover died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Revs. Al Daniel and Marvin Carson officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Garden.

A native of York County, Mrs. Boheler was a daughter of the late Ward Brakefield and Ann Horne Brakefield. She was a member of Ramah Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her husband, Howard Harry Boheler; four sons, Wayne Boheler, Roger Boheler and Dennie Boheler, all of Clover, and Ronnie Boheler of Kings Creek; her daughter, Gaye B. Smith of Clover; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. today at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Glyn Ellis

LANCASTER - Mr. Glyn Sims Ellis, 72, of 178 Community Lane died Sunday, March, 19, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rich Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brooks Walker officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Ellis was a son of the late Robert Tillman Ellis and Dora Sims Ellis. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a member of Rich Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Audry Hersman of Laurinburg, N.C., and Betty Jean Ellis and Glenda Joyce Ellis, both of Lancaster; his brother, Manley C. Ellis of Monroe, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

James Gill

ROCK HILL - Mr. James M. Gill of 231 Pond St. died Monday, March 20, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

William Houghton

ROCK HILL - Mr. William Francis Houghton, 62, of 313 Clayton Road died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. William F. Pentis officiating.

A native of Trenton, N.J., Mr. Houghton was a son of Catherine Fedeski Houghton of Maple Shale, N.J., and the late William J. Houghton. He was a civil engineer and an Army veteran.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his daughter, Tracy H. Kopco of Philadelphia; and his brother, Paul C. Houghton of Clayton, N.C.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

John Johnson

CHESTER - Mr. John Allen Johnson, 74, of 103 Nella St. died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Freewill Baptist Church, with the Revs. James Sanders and Rex Foster officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

A native of Greenwood, Mr. Johnson was a son of the late John Lee Johnson and Ora Lee Kirkland Johnson. Mr. Johnson retired from the Army after serving in World War II and the Korean War. He worked with Samco Heating and Air Conditioning in Gastonia, N.C. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his wife, Clara F. Johnson; his son, Michael Allen "Mickey" Johnson of Wilkes County, N.C.; his brother, Marshall Johnson of Greenwood; his sister, Mary Berry of Greenwood; and two grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Floyd Joyner

LANCASTER - Mr. Floyd B. Joyner, 69, of 3436 Pageland Highway died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Immanuel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dale Roach officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Joyner was a son of the late William Banxton Joyner and Ola Blackmon Joyner. He was a retired Lancaster County employee and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Helms Joyner; his daughter, Carole Walker of Lancaster; his brother, Jack Montgomery of Lancaster; two sister, Henrietta Deason and Myrtle Lee Whitaker, both of Lancaster; his granddaughter; and his step-grandson.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 1152 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Donald McCurry

ROCK HILL - Mr. Donald Julian McCurry of 1188 Pinecrest Drive died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dr. Timothy McClendon and the Rev. Carol R. Cannon officiating.

A native of Asheville, N.C., Mr. McCurry was a son of the late George Dexter McCurry and Dorothy Black McCurry. He was the former owner of Home Mart Supply Co. and a former employee of Georgia-Pacific. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and the Rock Hill Country Club, where he was an avid golfer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the 82nd Airbourne Division and participated in the Normandy invasion of France.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Reynolds McCurry; his daughter, Karen McCurry Myer of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the home of Shirley Hargett, 1222 Pinecrest Drive.
