Janie Jackson

STATESVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Janie McCullough Jackson, 80, of 1923 Ora Drive died Monday, March, 20, 2000, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rutledge and Bigham Funeral home, with the Rev. L.C. McCaskill officiating. Burial will be at Belmont Cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Jackson was a daughter of the late Shawn and Plummie McCullough McDonald. She was the widow of Thomas Jackson. She attended schools in South Carolina and was a member of New Victory Baptist Church. She was a member of the Dorcus Chapter 287 Order of the Eastern Star and Skyland Banner Daughter of Elks.

Surviving are her son, George McCullough of Statesville; her daughter, Kathryn McClelland of Statesville; her sister, Catherine Smyre of Harmony; her grandchild; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home.

Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester, is in charge of local arrangements.

Lendon Munday

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Lendon Todd Munday, 38, died Monday, March 20, 2000, at Carolina Heart Institute.

The funeral will be noon Saturday at Broad Street United Methodist Church in Statesville, N.C., with the Revs. Paul Lowder and Robert T. Young officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Born in Mooresville, N.C., Mr. Munday was a son of the late Shirley Ervin Munday and Jimmy Lee Munday. He was a 1979 graduate of Statesville Senior High School. In 1985, he earned his bachelor of music performance degree from Winthrop University. He studied voice at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia and Boston University Opera Institute.

Mr. Munday sang with the Western Opera Theater in San Francisco and worked with the Merola Program and the San Francisco Opera from 1986 to 1988.

He was a soloist in the southeast with the York county Choral Society, Charlotte Symphony, Charlotte Oratorio Singers, South Carolina Philharmonic, Atlanta Choral Guild and the Charleston Symphony.

Mr. Munday has performed internationally and with companies including the Dallas Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Central City Opera, Virginia Opera, Piedmont Opera Theater, Charleston Opera, Opera Carolina, Newberry Opera and the New York City National Company.

He was vice president and manger of the Fritz and Lavinia Jensen Foundation for Young Professional Singers.

Surviving is his wife, Danielle Goldin-Munday.

The family will receive friends after the service.

Memorials may be made to the World Wildlife Fund, 1250 24th St. N.W., Washington, DC 20037 or the Humane Society of Charlotte, 2700 Toomey Ave., Charlotte, N.C. 29203. A scholarship in his named may be established in the future at Winthrop University.

Gertrude Rader

ROCHESTER, Pa. - Mrs. Gertrude C. Rader, 82, of New Sewickley Township died Monday, March 20, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Gabauer Funeral Home. Burial will be private.

A native of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Rader was a daughter of the late George W. Weber and Gertrude C. Graham Weber. She was the widow of John W. Rader. She was a lifelong member of the Big Knob Ladies Auxiliary and the county Fire Auxiliary. She was a past president of the PTA and helped organize New Sewickley Township Girl Scouts. he was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Brighton.

Surviving are her son, John Rader of Coraopolis, Pa.; her daughter, Linda Miller of Rock Hill; two brothers, Thomas Rader and William Rader, both of New Brighton; three sisters, Evelyn Byers of Massillon, Ohio, Jeanne Murray of Beaver, Pa. and Lela Eckman of Chippewa Township; and her grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Gabauer Funeral home.

Clyde Strange

COLUMBIA - Mr. Clyde A. Strange, 81, of Hopkins died Wednesday, March 22, 2000.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Greenlawn Funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greenlawn Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Claudia Driggers, 646 Elm Ave., Columbia.

Joseph Turner

LANCASTER - Mr. Joseph Kell Turner, 87, of 3023 Flat Creek Road died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist Church, with the Revs. Kenneth Wren and Frank Barwig officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Turner was a son of the late Joseph Edward Turner and Alma Marie Barnes Turner. He was the widower of Claudia Stogner Turner. Mr. Turner was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II. A retired carpenter, he previously had worked for Mullis Lumber Co.

Surviving are his daughter, Anne Evans of Lancaster; his sister, Julia Campbell of Rock Hill; his grandchild; two step grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Lonnie and Anne Evans, 1853 Camp Creek Road, Lancaster.

William Condrey Sr.

FORT MILL - Mr. William E. "Bud" Condrey Sr., 79, of 1381 Brook-mead Drive died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wolfe Funeral Home. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill.

A native of Alabama, Mr. Condrey was a son of the late Charles S. Condrey and Mary Sue Ross Condrey. He was the widower of Gertrude Marlow Condrey. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was retired from J.P. Stevens Corp.

Surviving are three sons, Jonathan Marlow, Richard Dale Condrey and Charles Condrey, all of Fort Mill; his daughter, Martha C. Holland of Fort Mill; his brother, Jack Condrey of Ellenboro, N.C.; his sister, Nell Curtis of Rock Hill; his companion, Carole Lowder Cook of Fort Mill; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Martha C. Holland, 265 Henry St., Fort Mill.

Benjamin Eudy

LANCASTER - Mr. Benjamin Adam "Ben" Eudy, 36, of Lancaster died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Atlanta.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at High Point Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joey Burnett officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Union County, N.C., Mr. Eudy was a son of Evelyn Rogers Eudy and the late Robert Earl Eudy. He was an employee of Culp Petroleum in Rock Hill and was formerly employed by General Tire. He was a member of Catawba Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Tammy Small Eudy; his son, Tyler Eudy of Lancaster; his daughter, Nicole Eudy of Lancaster; his mother, Evelyn Rogers Eudy; four brothers, Robert Larry Eudy and Steve Eudy, both of Kershaw, and Lloyd Eudy and Douglas Eudy, both of Lancaster; and his sister, Delaine Polk of Monroe, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Henry Turner

CHESTER - Mr. Henry Turner, 48, of 1325 Gethsemane Road died Monday, March, 20, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., with the Rev. McKinley Woods officiating and the Rev. Charles Pratt assisting. Burial will be at Gethsemane Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Turner was a son of the late William "Greenberry" Turner and Nellie McCoy Turner. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was a 1971 graduate of Chester High School and once worked at Springs Industries. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Kathy Sullivan Turner of Hodgeville, Ky.; his daughter, Christina Kay Tuner of Hodgeville; his brother, Robert Turner of Chester; and two sisters, Nellie Turner of Chester and Mable Williams of Philadelphia.

The family will receive friends at home. The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at King's Funeral Home.

Charles Graham

BLACKSTOCK - Mr. Charles Edward Graham, 67, of 1906 Overlook Road died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at New Independent Methodist Church in Great Falls, with the Rev. Michael Ruff officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Graham was a son of the late Leroy Graham and Ethel Cord Graham. He was a member of New Independent Methodist Church, where he was a choir member. He was a former member of Love Charity Baptist Church. He attended the public schools of Chester County. He was retired from Army Corps of Engineers. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy L. Graham; two sons, John Lee Boulware of Blackstock and Randy Boulware of the home; two brothers, Roy Graham of Washington and Roosevelt Graham of Chrisfield, Md.; three sisters, Etta Mae Kelly of Charlotte, Hazel Lewis of Salisbury, N.C., and Dorothy Lewis of Richburg; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home. The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

Samuel Hoyt Jr.

McCONNELLS - The Rev. Samuel Browne Hoyt Jr., 78, of 1680 McConnells Highway died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Chip Sneed officiating. Burial will be at Olivet Presbyterian Church cemetery in McConnells.

A native of Newport News, Va., Hoyt was a son of the late Samuel Browne Hoyt Sr. and Virginia Carlisle Hoyt. He was a graduate of Davidson College and Columbia Theological Seminary, from which he won a fellowship to study at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

He served churches in Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia and South Carolina, including Bethesda, Olivet and Temple Presbyterian churches in York County and Smiths, Zion and Trinity Presbyterian churches in Chester County. Hoyt completed 50 years of preaching without missing a Sunday.

He was a charter member of the Highlands Ruritan Club and served in many capacities. He was active in the Covenant Presbytery and was a member of the McConnells Fire Department. He served as a first-line officer in the Pacific during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Lambeth Hoyt; his son, Samuel B. Hoyt III of House Springs, Mo.; two daughters, Virginia Hoyt Bach of Kershaw and France Hoyt Williams of Charlotte; his brother, Dr. William R. Hoyt of Rome, Ga.; his sister, Carlisle Hoyt of Montreat, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 651 Great Falls Highway, Chester, SC 29706.

Christine Lacey

WOODRUFF - Mrs. Christine Parks Lacey of Woodruff Health Care, formerly of Greer, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at Woodruff Health Care.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gilmore Mortuary, with the Rev. June Gage officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.

A native of Lincolnton, Ga., Mrs. Lacey was a daughter of the late Willie Parks and Alberta Jones Parks. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are her son, Jace Lamont Lacey of Rock Hill; three brothers, Carnell Parks, Joe Melvin Parks and George Parks, all of Greenville; four sisters, Alma Mills of Greer, Alice Ramsey and Rita Pritchard, both of Cleveland, and Bobby Parks Lyons of Greenville.

The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Gilmore Mortuary and at other times at the home of Alma Mills, 104 Mills Ave., Greer.

Glenn Mitchell

YORK - Mr. Glenn Mitchell, 38, of 25 Lee St. died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pineville AME Zion Church in Rock Hill with the Rev. Dr. T. Goodwin officiating and the Revs. Anita R. Williams, Elmo Robison and George McCoy assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Mitchell was a son of the late Robert Mitchell and Henrietta Page Mitchell. He was a retired ink regulator for Wikoff Color Inc. in Fort Mill. He was a member of Pineville AME Zion Church.

Surviving are his wife, Tracy Mitchell of Kings Mountain, N.C.; two sons, Glenn Mitchell Jr. and Christian Mitchell, both of Gastonia, N.C.; four daughters, Melissa Lipscomb and Latosha Craig, both of Gastonia, Sierra Shear of York and Alexia Mitchell of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Annie Perry and Barbara Matthews, both of York; two brothers, James Lee Mitchell of York and Harris Mitchell of Gastonia; and two grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 6 to 7 tonight at Wright Funeral Home.

T. Dennis Whitesides

CLOVER - Mr. T. Dennis Whitesides, 67, of 609 N. Beersheba Road died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethany ARP Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Alan Morrow officiating.

A native of York County, Mr. Whitesides was a son of the late Thomas A. Whitesides and Helen Biggers Whitesides. He was a retired surveyor for the South Carolina Highway Department. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church in Smyrna.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Sipe Whitesides; his son, Warren Whitesides of York; three daughters, Becky W. Moon and Wanda W. Hemphill, both of Rock Hill, and Barbara W. Brady of Tampa, Fla.; his sister, Lois W. Davidson of Clover; and 10 grandchildren.
