ROCK HILL - Mrs. Grace Virginia Frasca DeLuce, 88, of Rock Hill died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Eden Gardens.

The funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. today at St. Anne Catholic Church, with Father William F. Pentis officiating.

A native of New York City, Mrs. DeLuce was a daughter of the late Alexander Frasca and Lucia Matteresi Frasca. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and the Potters Guild of New Jersey.

Surviving are two daughters, Lucille D'Auria of Rock Hill and Gloria DeLuce of Hoboken, N.J.; her sister, Josephine Chierchio of Long Island, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Jo Ann Sprouse

CLOVER - Mrs. Jo Ann Smart Sprouse, 64, of 1315 Burrell Road died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Dave Stanford and Charles Poore officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of York County, Mrs. Sprouse was a daughter of the late David Edward Smart and Lena Wyona McDaniel. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Clover First Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Sprouse; two sons, Rick Sprouse of Denver, N.C., and Scott Sprouse of Clover; her brother, Kenneth Smart of York; and her sister, Naomi Abernathy of Gastonia, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford Sons Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 117 S. Main St., Clover.

Mark Emerick

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Mr. Mark Perry Emerick, 42, of 205 N.W. 14th St. died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in Tampa, Fla.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at West Main Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. John Powell officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at Florence National Cemetery.

A native of Peoria, Ill., Mr. Emerick was a son of Roger and Pauline Emerick of Rock Hill. He was employed as an order puller for a mail-order catalog distributing company. He was a Navy veteran and 1976 graduate of Corunna High School in Corunna, Mich. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Jacob Emerick of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Brian Emerick of Rock Hill; two sisters, Irene Emerick of Columbia and Erin Emerick of Rock Hill; and his maternal grandmother, Faye LeCureux of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his parents, Roger and Pauline Emerick, 2961 Southeastern Road, Rock Hill.

David Stewart

GASTON - Mr. David Robert Stewart of Gaston died Monday, April 3, 2000.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Generation Funeral Home in Clover. Burial will be at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Clover.

A native of York, Mr. Stewart was a son of the late Hope Stewart and Carrie Porter.

Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Stewart; two sons, Greg Davis of Lexington and Cory Stewart of Gaston; his daughter, Sarah Phillips of Clover; and his grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home in Columbia.

The body will be placed at Generation Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Saturday.

William Turner

CLOVER - Mr. William Joseph Turner, 79, of 3555 Turner Road died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bethany ARP Church, with the Rev. Alan Morrow officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Turner was a son of the late Lenny Hope Turner and Annie Hanna Turner. He was a maintenance supervisor with Foote Mineral Co. for more than 20 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II who served in the South Pacific.

Surviving are his wife, Margie Huffstetler Turner; his daughter, Janice T. Douglas of Clover; two sons, Danny Turner of Hickory Grove and Ricky Turner of Clover; two sisters, Ruby Hord of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Martha Lanier of Gastonia; his brother, Harry Turner of Kings Mountain; seven grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Bethany ARP Church, 1454 N. Highway 161, Clover, SC 29710 or Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 158, Hickory Grove, SC 29717.

Ernest Varnadore Jr.

ROCK HILL -"Mr. Ernest Guy Varnadore Jr., of 3000 Long Meadow Road died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mike Rouse officiating. Burial will be private.

A native of Chester, Mr. Varnadore was a son of the late Ernest Guy Varnadore Sr. and Marie Odessa Rutledge Varnadore. He was a member of Mount Holly United Methodist Church and retired from Celanese Corporation after 36 years of service, where he worked as a maintenance supervisor. Mr. Varnadore served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post No. 34 and the Elks Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Aileen Smith Varnadore; his son, Tim Varnadore of Rock Hill; his daughter, Lisa Werner of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the service at Greene Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Russell Watson

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mr. Russell Carter Watson, 73, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at home.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Gastonia, with the Revs. Kenneth Page and Leon Smith officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date in the National Veterans Cemetery in Salisbury, N.C.

A native of St. Charles, Ill., Mr. Watson was a son of the late Olethia Carter and John Howard Watson. A graduate of Oberlin College in Ohio, he moved to Gastonia in 1970. After earning an MBA degree, he joined the faculty of Winthrop University.

Surviving are his wife Bertie Page Watson; his daughter, Elaine Tucker of Maiden, N.C.; and his granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parlor of First Baptist Church in Gastonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to First Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 6298, Gastonia, NC 28056-60.

Eva Williams

KERSHAW - Mrs. Eva Coates Williams, 90, of 7666 Hal Williams Road died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Kershaw County Medical Center in Camden.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pineview Baptist Church. Burial with Eastern Star Rites will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Kershaw County, Mrs. Williams was a daughter of the late John Edward Coates and Almetta Gay Coates. She was the widow of Joseph Dennie Williams. A homemaker, she was a member of Pineview Baptist Church, Eastern Star Chapter No. 94, Kershaw Senior Citizens and the Glory Viewers.

Surviving are five sons, Joe Earl Williams, John Henry Williams, Mendel E. Williams, Quinn C. Williams and Donald Williams, all of Kershaw; her daughter, Margie Farmer of Bethune; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Williams will be taken to her home at 11 a.m. today and will remain there until an hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Pineview Baptist Church building fund, 224 Young's Bend Road, Kershaw, SC 29067.

Mary Chisholm

CHESTER - Mrs. Mary Hampton Chisholm, 73, of 200 York Road, Apt. B-4, Chester Homes, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Baptist Church in Halseville, with the Rev. John Heath officiating and the Rev. Paul F. Long assisting. The Rev. J.K. Stringfellow will give the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Chisholm was a daughter of the late Leroy Feaster and Floree Hampton Feaster. Mrs. Chisholm was the widow of Eumon Chisholm Sr. She was a member of Sweet Hope Baptist Church and attended St. Paul Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Hymn Choir. She attended the public schools of Chester County. She retired from Ruth's Salad Co. in Chester.

Surviving are her son, Eumon Chisholm Jr. of Chester; four daughters, Ruby Wright, Bernice Worthy and Linda Heath, all of Chester, and Sara Lowe of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Willie Hampton and Richard Feaster, both of Chester; three sisters, Martha Gilcrest of Charlotte, and Annie Bell Halsey and Sylvia Coleman, both of Chester; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Lamorise and Ruby Wright, 105 Hope St., Chester.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at West Main Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. John Powell officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at Florence National Cemetery.

A native of Flint/Owosso, Mich., Mr. Emerick was employed as an order puller for a mail-order catalog distributing company. He was 1976 graduate of Corunna High School in Corunna, Mich., and was a Navy veteran. He was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving are his parents, Roger Emerick and Pauline Emerick of Rock Hill; two brothers, Jacob Emerick of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Brian Emerick of Rock Hill; two sisters, Irene Emerick of Columbia and Erin Emerick of Rock Hill; and his maternal grandmother, Faye LeCureux of Rock Hill.

The family will be at the home of his parents, Roger Emerick and Pauline Emerick, 2961 Southeastern Road, Rock Hill.

Hattie Robinson

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mrs. Hattie Elliott Robinson, 81, of 4014 Windwood Drive died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Free Will Baptist Church, with the Revs. Randall Sawyer and W.H. Calvert officiating. Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.

A native of Gaston County, Mrs. Robinson was a daughter of the late Willis D. Davis and Sophia Sawyer Davis and her late stepmother, Minnie Stiles Davis. She was the widow of Elisha J. Elliott and Howard C. Robinson. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church for more than 60 years, where she was a member of the choir, quartet and trio, Sunday school teacher, charter member of the Golden Age Club, and active in the Women Active for Christ. The Hattie Elliott Robinson Woman of the Year Award was named for her, and she was the first recipient. She was a retired textile worker and later worked at the Free Will Baptist Children's Home in Turbeville.

Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Whitson and Carolyn Lingerfelt, both of Gastonia; two sons, Ronald Elliott of York and Raymond Elliott of Gastonia; her brother, Walter Davis of Clover; seven sisters, Ellie Lowe of Grover, N.C., Iva Lee Groves of Manasas, Va., Marie Harrison of Stanley, N.C., Mildred Blankenship of Ranlo, N.C., Doris Carter of Muskogee, Okla., and Willene Waggoner and Faye Holcombe, both of Gastonia; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

William Shehane

HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. William Reece Shehane, 77, of 1811 Hoke Road died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at home.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Memorial Cemetery, with the Revs. Mendel Baker and Larry Plyler officiating.

A native of Heath Springs, Mr. Shehane was a son of the late John Shehane and Irene Cauthen Shehane. He was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Johnnie Mae Green Shehane; his son, Jerry Mote of Phenix City, Ala.; two daughters, Sherry Minors of Heath Springs and Kay Maree of Charlotte; his brother, Charlie Shehane of Heath Springs; his sister, Susie Blalock of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Sherry Minors, 1801 Hoke Road, Lancaster.

George White

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Mr. George Willie White, 64, of Alexandria, Va., formerly of Clover, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Alexandria Hospital.

A memorial service will be 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Wright Funeral Home in York, with the Rev. Samuel Tate officiating.

A native of Chester, Mr. White was a son of Maggie White of Clover and Willie Kirkpatrick of Chester and a stepson of the late J. Paul White. He attended Flat Rock Baptist Church and the Clover public schools. He was a master chef and worked in many of the top restaurants in Alexandria.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Gayle White; six daughters, Teresa White, June W. Boyd, Juanita W. Tate and Belinda J. Mitchell, all of Clover, Joyce W. Love of Gastonia, N.C., and Stacy N. White of Alexandria; two sons, Tommy P. White and Kevin White, both of Alexandria; his sister, Anne Kirkpatrick of Rock Hill; his brother, Larry Howard of Charlotte; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Maggie White, 705 Sumter St. Ext., Clover.
