ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ola Aleen Starnes Dill, 81, of 338 Community St. died Monday, April, 17, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Paul Blake officiating.

A native of Union County, N.C., Mrs. Starnes was the widow of Silas C. Sistar and Ben Dill.

Surviving are her sons, Silas C. Sistar Jr. and Jerry Wayne Sistar, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Shirley A. Collins of York and Linda Owings of Rock Hill; her sister, Edna Cooper of Charlotte; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Howard Greene

LANCASTER - Mr. Howard Richard Greene, 70, of 1448 Yellow Jacket Road died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Benjy Simmons and James Adams officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lenoir, N.C., Mr. Greene was a son the late McKinley W. Greene and Lizzie Phelps Green. An award-winning blue grass musician, Mr. Greene was a self-employed logge and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Price Greene; five sons, Danny Greene, Gary Greene, Eddie Greene and Randy Greene, all of Lancaster, and Todd Dula of Granite Falls, N.C.; two daughters, Libby Williams of Lancaster and Linda Sinclair of Lenoir, N.C.; his brother, Alfred W. Greene of Bethlehem, N.C.; his sister, Beulah Reed of Granite Falls, N.C.; and 12 grandchildren.

Essie Kline

CHESTER - Mrs. Essie Branham Roof Kline, 89, died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Fairfield Health Care in Ridgeway.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Elder William Cabaniss officiating.

A native of Kershaw County, Mrs. Kline was a daughter of the late David Wesley Branham Jr. and Sarah Jane Brigman Branham. She was widowed by Cluff Harrison Roof and Marion Kline. Mrs. Kline was retired from Spring Industries and attended Kershaw County Schools. She was a member of the Rock Hill Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Surviving are her daughter, Frances "Susie" Collins of Chester; her son, Bennie G. Roof of Hanahan; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Edna McKeown

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Edna Knight McKeown, 89, of Augusta died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Windemere Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at McKeown Family Cemetery in Cornwell.

A native of Augusta, Mrs. McKeown was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin Knight and Blanche Wilson Knight. She was the widow of Samuel Moffatt McKeown. She was a secretary with Blanchard & Calhoun Real Estate, was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and was a member and past president of the Women's Board of University Hospital.

Mrs. McKeown is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at her nephew's residence, 1924 Columbia Highway, Cornwell.

Margaret Starnes

LANCASTER - Mrs. Margaret Louise Steele Starnes, 71, of 2622 Monroe Highway died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Unity ARP Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Guy Smith officiating.

A native of Lancaster County, Mrs. Starnes was a daughter of the late Herman Steele and Minnie Byrum Steele. She was the widow of Ward Starnes. Mrs. Starnes was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Unity ARP Church, where she was active in the Carson Circle.

Surviving are her son, Dennie Starnes of Lancaster; her daughter, Myra Starnes of Monroe, N.C.; two brothers, Edward Steele and Robert Boyce Steele, both of Lancaster; her sister, Mary Ellen Hayes of Lancaster; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Rebecca White

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Rebecca H. White, 86, of 383 Redwood Drive died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Nazareth Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. John McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mrs. White was a member of the AP&B Society, the Hymn Choir No. 1 and Missionary No. 3. She also was treasurer of Hymn Choir No. 1.

Surviving are her husband, Alonzo White Sr.; four sons, Alonzo White Jr. of Dalton, Ga., Sammie Lee White and David Lee White, both of Rock Hill, and Marion Black of Charlotte; five daughters, Ethel Mae Hinton of Rockville Centre, N.Y., Barbara Dolson of New York, Dorothy Weldon and Marie Dickerson, both of Rock Hill, and Fannie White Mobley of the home; her brother, Willie Hinton of Rock Hill; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Nazareth Baptist Church and at other times at the home.

Carrie Carter

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Carrie Williams Carter, 80, of 1104 Pinewood Road died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Catawba Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Tommy Huddleston officiating.

A native of Kershaw, Mrs. Carter was a daughter of the late Harold H. Beckham and Carrie Truesdale Beckham. A homemaker, she was a member of Catawba Baptist Church. She was the widow of Woodrow W. Carter.

Surviving are her son, Robert W. Carter of Sumter; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, and at other times at the home.

Samuel Crenshaw

LANCASTER - Mr. Samuel A. Crenshaw, 60, of 3971 Major Evans Road, Lancaster, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Oak Ridge ARP Church, with the Rev. Peter Wing officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Charlotte, Mr. Crenshaw was a son of the late Pervis Crenshaw and Maude Wainwright Crenshaw. He was a member of the Oak Ridge ARP Church and was owner-operator of the Cedar Creek Bait and Tackle Shop. Mr. Crenshaw was president of the Cedar Creek Hunting Club and he operated a fishing guide service - Crappie Busters.

Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Henderson Crenshaw; his son, Mark Crenshaw of Myrtle Beach; his foster mother, Maizie Bailey of Lancaster; and two brothers, Doug Crenshaw of Lancaster and Joe Crenshaw of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the home.

Thelma Dooly

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Mrs. Thelma Mae Hall Dooly, 84, formerly of Lancaster, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lacy Jones officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Maxton, N.C., Mrs. Dooly was a daughter of the late Carl Lee Hall and Myrtle Mae Barber Hall. Mrs. Dooly was twice widowed by Elerbea Thomas and James Horace Dooly. She was a retired employee of Springs Industries. She was a member of the Church of God.

Surviving are her son, Ronald M. Thomas of Clarksville; three sisters, Alma Stermer of West Point, Miss., Rae Burch of Ashboro, N.C., and Ola Carter of Chino Valley, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Tina Gentry

LANCASTER - Ms. Tina Karen Gentry, 35, of 6372 William Martin Road died Friday, April 14, 2000.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Stuart Snow officiating. Burial will be at West Side Cemetery.

A native of Texas, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie Theophilus Gentry and Brenda Elaine Starnes Gentry Morris.

Surviving are two daughters, Laura Yarborough and Kayla Yarborough, both of Chester; her stepfather, William J. Morris Sr. of Lando; three brothers, Robert Gentry of Rock Hill, William Morris Jr. of Lancaster and Joshua Morris of Lando; her sister, Chantal Moss of Lando; and her maternal grandmother, Mabel Starnes of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Morris, 1692 Wadell Stenson Road, Lancaster.

Eula Mae Phipps

KINSTON, N.C. - Mrs. Eula Mae Godfrey Phipps, 91, of 1925 Idlewilde Road, formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at The Meadows Assisted Living Community.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Sosebee officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Newberry, Mrs. Phipps was a daughter of the late Columbus Pilgrim. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church, was a charter member of Starlight Chapter of Eastern Star in Rock Hill and taught TEL Sunday school class for 29 years. She was retired from J.P. Stevens Aragon Mill in Rock Hill after 45 years. She worked at the Rock Hill Senior Citizens Center for five years.

She was the widow of Bruce Phipps.

Surviving are her son, Vernon Godfrey Sr. of Fort Mill; her daughter, Patricia Burrell of Myrtle Beach; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Larry Reynolds

LANCASTER - Mr. Larry Glenn Reynolds, 51, of 2668 Downey Drive died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Charles Hendricks officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Reynolds was a son of the late Douglas Reynolds and Geneva McManus Reynolds. He was retired from Builders Supply Co. and served in the Army.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Terry Reynolds; his daughter, Kristy Michele Reynolds; four brothers, Darrell Reynolds, Danny Reynolds, Randy Reynolds, and Alan Reynolds, all of Lancaster; and three sisters, Carree Reynolds Dargo of Arnold, Md., Judy Reynolds Gladden of Elgin, and Karen Reynolds Neal of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Rebecca Riemenschneider

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Rebecca Diane Smith Riemenschneider, 48, of 2314 Worthy Boys Camp Road died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at home.

A funeral service will be at a later date.

A native of Gadsden, Ala., Mrs. Riemenschneider was a daughter of Dorothy Perdue of Cartersville, Ga. Mrs. Riemenschneider was employed with Sally Beauty Supply as a manager of the South Boulevard store in Charlotte.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, David A. Riemenschneider; two daughters, Elisha DeAnne Francis of Monroe, N.C., and Khristel Lyn Davis of Rock Hill; two brothers, Charles W. Shields and Ronald "Keith" Shields, both of Cartersville; her sister, Teresa Kay Snider of Winter Garden, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Greene Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, and at other times at the home.

Elizabeth Salters

ROCK HILL - Miss Elizabeth M. Salters, 93, of 219 Bailey Ave. died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Westminster Health Center.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Ebenezer ARP Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. at Ebenezer ARP Church, with the Revs. Dr. R. Boyce Wilson and Charles Mitchell officiating.

A native of Salters, Miss Salters was a daughter of the late John M. Salters and Elizabeth Shurley Salters. She earned her bachelor of arts degree from Winthrop College and did post-graduate study at Columbia University and the University of Chicago. Miss Salters was a teacher and principal in the Parker School District in Greenville for 19 years. She was a supervisor of early childhood education at Winthrop College from 1948 to 1971. After retiring from Winthrop, she taught at Catawba Academy.

A member of Ebenezer ARP Church, Miss Salters sang in the Chancel Choir, taught Sunday school and served as church historian along with her mother and sister. She was a charter member of the Allegro Music Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Over the Teacups Book Club and Delta Kappa Gamma. She served as a consultant to model cities, school districts, the state Department of Education, the Southeastern Conference on Children Under Six and various professional organizations.

Surviving is her sister, Annie Leitner Salters of Rock Hill.
